Raids on furniture factories in Muar have led to 43 undocumented foreign workers being detained for various offences, says the Johor Immigration Department.

State director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said Ops Gempur Muar was conducted on Tuesday (May 12) from 9am to 10pm, with enforcement personnel from Batu Pahat, Muar and Segamat.

00:18He said six furniture factories and workers' accommodations were inspected,
00:23with several workers attempting to flee and hide during the raids before being stopped by enforcement officers.
00:30Those detained included Bangladeshi, Myanmar, Nepalese and Pakistani nationals, aged between 14 and 62.
00:39They are being investigated for offences under the Immigration Regulations 1963 and Immigration Act 1959-63
00:49and have been placed at the Pekan Nanas Immigration Depot for further action.
