A total of 356 undocumented foreign nationals were detained by the Immigration Department during a raid on a computer component factory in the Tebrau industrial area.

Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the operation was carried out at about 7pm on Tuesday (Dec 16) after intelligence confirmed the employer’s involvement in hiring undocumented foreign workers.

00:00A total of 356 undocumented foreign nationals were detained by the Immigration Department during a raid on a computer component factory in the Tebrau industrial area.
00:13Johor Immigration Director Datuk Mohamad Rusdi Mohamad Darus said the operation took place around 7pm on Tuesday after intelligence revealed the employer was hiring undocumented workers.
00:25Several workers tried to flee during the inspection, but officers blocked all exits to prevent escapes.
00:31Two local men, identified as the factory's human resources officers, were also detained.
00:37Those detained, aged between 18 and 46, comprised 246 Myanmar men and 53 women, with the rest from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Indonesia and the Philippines.
00:50They were found to have been working at the factory for less than a year.
00:55Inspections revealed organised violations of immigration laws, including the employer's non-compliance with foreign worker regulations.
01:03All detainees have been placed at the Stia Tropica Immigration Depot for further action.
