Four eateries at a well-known shopping mall in Johor Baru were raided by the Immigration Department in an operation that led to the arrest of 19 foreign workers for various immigration offences.

Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the operation, dubbed Ops Selera, was carried out on Monday (Feb 23).

00:07during raids on four eateries at a popular shopping mall on Monday.
00:11Johor Immigration Director Datuk Mohamed Rusdi Mohamed Darus said the operation,
00:16dubbed Obsolera, targeted multiple food premises simultaneously.
00:20The raids were carried out based on public tip-offs and intelligence gathered by the department.
00:25During the operation, two local men managing the premises were also detained
00:31and action was also taken against a food outlet operated by foreigners serving Indian cuisine.
00:37Authorities said 19 foreign workers aged 19 to 49, including 11 men from Myanmar,
00:45one man and one woman from Indonesia and six women from Myanmar,
00:48were detained for suspected immigration violations.
00:51All were employed as restaurant servers and cooks.
00:54The detainees are suspected of offences under the Immigration Act 1959-63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963.
