A total of 22 foreigners from three countries were arrested for various immigration offences following an operation here.

Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said they were detained during an operation carried out at about 10pm on Friday (April 17).

00:19Acting on a tip-off and intelligence gathered,
00:22authorities launched an operation targeting business and residential premises
00:26focusing on restaurants selling tom yum believed to be employing undocumented immigrants
00:32or serving as their gathering places.
00:3522 foreigners aged between 18 and 52 from Thailand, Indonesia and Myanmar
00:41were arrested for suspected immigration offences.
00:45Those detained were believed to be workers, customers and occupants of the premises that were inspected
00:51and are currently held at the Setia Tropica Immigration Depot
00:55for further investigation under the Immigration Act 1959-63.
