00:00That signals a real great opportunity for Tobago. I mean, I've been touched with our members, the business community, and
00:10the feedback is very, very positive. So we're looking forward to that excitement that will be the game changer for
00:17Tobago. Definitely going to be a big game changer. And we expect things to be on an upward trend from
00:23now on.
00:24The chamber chairman said the introduction of this hotel should serve as a catalyst for other internationally recognized brands to
00:32invest in Tobago, signaling growth, confidence in the island's tourism and hospitality sector.
00:39What we see is that a chain like Marriott getting into the Tobago space will now open the opportunity for
00:49other smaller chain or even boutique type hotel coming across to Tobago.
00:54And it signals things in a positive direction. And we will welcome another brand like Marriott with that kind of
01:06capacity and maybe two or so other boutique type brands which will really do well for Tobago and its tourism
01:13product.
01:14Mr. Williams expressed hope that Tobago's current room stock would be maintained at an international standard, ensuring the island remains
01:24competitive and attractive to both regional and international visitors.
01:29So we are appealing to the rest of our plants. So we are appealing to the rest of our plants
01:33on the island.
01:34It's not up to that international standard to get your room stock up to that kind of three or four
01:40star level that will really august well with the advent of the new terminal building coming upstream and the proposed
01:48airlift that we expected.
01:51I think that will be sending us in a positive direction.
01:54According to the EMA, this development represents a significant investment in Tobago's tourism sector, aimed at expanding accommodation capacity, enhancing
02:05the visitor experience through a three to five star offering and supporting increased international arrivals.
02:13The project will comprise a 200 room hotel, villas and townhouses complemented by recreational amenities and green spaces that integrate
02:24with the natural environment.
