00:00The sewer collection system, installation of sewage transmission system falls under activity 40B of the CEC designated activities order but was not listed in your CEC application even though this is a fundamental part of the project considering that you are connecting to the WASA system.
00:17Why was this not included? Have you evaluated the cumulative impact of installing the necessary infrastructure for connection to the system? If not, why hasn't this been done?
00:30Soas Tobago is deeply concerned about the potential impacts of vegetation removal at this site, particularly the native manch nail trees. These trees are very ecologically important. They provide habitats, stabilize the shoreline and protect against erosion and runoff into the marine environment which is also home to resident juvenile green and hot spill turtles, threatened coral species and important fisheries.
00:54As a soils engineer and erosion control, erosion sediment control specialist, ESC is a term you can look up. They are specialists in that field. Very often this is treated in a very whimsical way such as, yeah, the construction people that are following this plan and blah, blah, blah. I'm telling you this is a specialized field that requires extreme, extreme levels of monitoring.
01:15The project comprises 200 rooms, 28 duplex residences, 11 single family villas and 12 fully outfitted townhouses.
01:26Eco Engineers Consultants Limited and Lead Environmental Consultant Dr. George Asami said, sewage concerns are being discussed with WASA.
01:36The one that is presently preferred is building a sewage, a sewer system to take the sewage off the site to the Saman Grove waste stabilization ponds.
01:50We have started talking to WASA. They have been reasonably receptive to the idea. But what we need is not just receptive, we need an approval. So until that comes, we cannot say definitely that this is going to be the alternative.
02:11He continued.
02:12A number of management plans have been prepared according to the requirements of the EMA, an environmental management plan, sediment and erosion management plan, water quality management plan, coastal zone management plan, sea turtle management plan, air quality management plan, waste management plan and an operation and maintenance plan.
02:38Each of these plans stipulated the mitigation measures that were determined previously and how those mitigation measures affect each of these and also stipulates the required monitoring.
02:55According to Dr. Sami, the Environmental Impact Assessment IME is nearing a close and its findings will be submitted to the EME for a certificate of environmental clearance to move forward with the project.
