Chairman of the Tobago arm of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce Curtis Williams is pleased with Tobago's allocation. He however has one challenge. Elizabeth Williams sat down with the Chamber Chairman and has this report.
00:00Our biggest problem or challenges that we may have coming forward is the transparency and going forward spending that kind of money.
00:09So we hope that the THAA outline a clear, transparent pathway in spending that kind of money that they get through the budget.
00:18I mean, 6.3% of the national pie, it's a lot, and I hope that to be who now can see some sort of development going forward.
00:30Mr. Williams spoke with TV6 News following the budget presentation on Monday.
00:35He is also pleased with the A&R Robinson International Airport previous practical opening to be fully operational next year.
00:43It gives everybody enough time to get the act together, the concession booths and all of them to build out.
00:51So fully operational by the second quarter fiscal of this fiscal is really, really good, and we can start planning.
00:59A lot of folks can start planning.
01:00I even see the hotels, the Marriott and the Elephant Tree tourism project that the national government is willing to give their support, and I'm really pleased about that.
01:12He is also hopeful the direct international flights to Tobago would aid in the island's tourism thrust.
01:19The direct flights to Tobago, the airlift, I've seen that we're getting some U.S. direct flights, so we may have the return of Delta airline, an American airline in the Tobago space,
01:28and that signals that North American market is a market that is viable, and that signals something good is going to happen with the Marriott.
01:37We know we will need a North American market, and that North American market coming through will really do us well.
