00:00But if there is one legitimate loser in this year's draft, it's the guy I happen to tell you,
00:07I'm sure the guys have a video of it, that he was not going to be drafted.
00:10You guys all yelled at me, oh, there's never in the history of football has a Heisman finalist not been
00:15drafted.
00:16I sat and I said, guys, trust me on this one.
00:19The thing that really did it for me was the Heisman Trophy ceremony
00:26when Diego Pavia took a picture with his two brothers.
00:30Yeah.
00:31And in the picture, he looks like a munchkin.
00:34He did look like a munchkin.
00:35His two brothers tower over him.
00:37Yeah.
00:38And I remember saying on the show, that guy's not getting drafted six foot my ass
00:43because he was listed at six feet of Vanderbilt, right?
00:45Yeah, he's 5'9".
00:46He's not even 5'9".
00:47I think that's what he measured at the combine.
00:49NFL combine 5'8 1⁄4".
00:51All right.
00:52In the history of football, there's never been a quarterback 5'8 to ever have any success.
00:58But he's also kind of a questionable dude, right?
01:01Yes.
01:01So he comes in second place to Mendoza for the Heisman and he curses out the Heisman voters.
01:07He puts on Twitter, F you Heisman, right?
01:10And then he has to apologize for it.
01:13Then he does an interview with John Gruden for Barstool.
01:15Yeah.
01:16And in the interview with John Gruden, John says, you know, who's going to represent you for the draft?
01:20And he goes, nobody.
01:23Why would I give somebody 5% to 10% of my money?
01:26Right.
01:27That's my money and I'm not sharing it.
01:29So then he has no agent representing him, talking to teams, saying, look, take a look at my guy.
01:35Like, that's what agents do, right?
01:37Mm-hmm.
01:37Then he puts out a photograph of his draft room and you see it right there.
01:42That's pretty much every damn hat in the league.
01:46Yep.
01:46Because he figures, man, I'm a Heisman Trophy finalist, baby.
01:50Somebody.
01:50Someone's going to take a flyer on me.
01:52Even if it's in the last round on Saturday, someone's taken a dude who put up stupid numbers at Vanderbilt.
02:01To his credit.
02:01Yep.
02:02You look at his numbers at Vanderbilt.
02:04If I didn't tell you what the guy looked like, you might say, that might be my number one quarterback
02:09based on the numbers.
02:11And he also runs the ball very well in addition to passing.
02:13But he's a little guy.
02:14He's 5'8", and he's got an attitude.
02:17Yep.
02:17And maybe that attitude's what he needed to get to the Division I level of college as a munchkin, right?
02:23Mm-hmm.
02:24My man did not get drafted.
02:26That's right.
02:27Much like I said on this show, I think the Ravens may have offered him an opportunity to come, you
02:35know, make their roster.
02:36Yeah.
02:36Well, he's coming to rookie minicamp, and then we'll see.
02:38They didn't even make the longer-term commitment.
02:40They don't come to training camp.
02:42He gets to go to minicamp and then maybe training camp for the Baltimore Ravens, and then they get a
02:48look at the kid, and maybe he's such a good athlete.
02:50There's a place for him on the roster.
02:52Probably not, right?
02:53Mm-hmm.
02:53And it's a great lesson to young people out there.
02:57Nobody wants to give 5% to 10% of their hard-earned money.
03:01By the way, the NFL is 3%.
03:02I think 4% is the max.
03:04No, it's maximum.
03:04Is it 3% the max now?
03:05Maximum is 3%.
03:06Okay.
03:06Now, they can get 10% to 20% on endorsements, but on the NFL contract, the max is 3%.
03:10Yeah, when you're an endorsement agent, you can get up to 20% of the endorsement money.
03:16An NFL agent, great point, Tyrone, your max are capped at 3%.
03:20Of the contract.
03:21Now, obviously, that's still a lot of money.
03:23Which is why some dudes, and I fully support this, hire lawyers.
03:28Right.
03:28As opposed to qualified, certified agents.
03:31Right.
03:32They have lawyers just look over the language.
03:34Flat fees to the lawyer.
03:35And it's like, hey, give me 25 grand.
03:38Mm-hmm.
03:38You save 2%.
03:39Whatever it is.
03:40Whatever it is.
03:40Now, I highly recommend, if you're a young up-and-comer, you go check out Lil Wayne's sports agency.
03:48Matter of fact, Malachi Lemon.
03:51Yeah.
03:51The kid we were talking about that the Eagles drafted?
03:53Yeah.
03:53So, I didn't even realize until after our show that day, on Friday, that Malachi Lemon is represented by young
04:01money.
04:01Yes.
04:02And the Eagles have other...
04:03They're one of the best agencies out there, by the way.
04:05They've had other players through that agency.
04:07They had Travis Hunter last year.
04:08Right.
04:09And...
04:09Got him $40 million locked up front.
04:11And Jalen Hurts' agent originated from that agency...
04:15The woman.
04:15...before she went over to...
04:16And she's a badass man.
04:17...to Rock Nation.
04:18Yeah.
04:18I forget her name, but the female agent that's done over a billion dollars in deals now...
04:22Lynn something.
04:23Yes.
04:23And is highly regarded.
04:24Mm-hmm.
04:24Got her start with Young Money.
04:26Yeah.
04:26So, if you are looking for an agent, I highly recommend.
04:29Matter of fact, I might have Lil Wayne and Young Money represent me moving forward.
04:33Nicole Lynn.
04:34There you go.
04:35She's the gal.
04:35Yeah.
04:36In any event, it's a great lesson to guys out there.
04:40What you say can't come back and bite you in the ass.
04:43Yes.
04:43How you act in front of people can't come back and bite you in the ass.
04:47And unless you're, you know, cock strong, 6'4", 250, and it doesn't matter what you say
04:55because you're that good, sometimes it matters what you say.
04:59But I think we all agree, Diego, sadly for his family, who I'm sure are counting on, you
05:04know, a big paycheck.
05:06He's taking a huge pay cut.
05:07That dude is now making zero dollars.
05:10Yeah.
05:10And I even think, like, it's a couple hundred bucks a week when you're a non-roster invitee
05:15to minicamp.
05:17And who knows?
05:18Maybe he learns a valuable lesson.
05:19Mm-hmm.
05:20Maybe he becomes humbled and goes and works his ass off and does get a chance.
05:24Maybe the UFL gives him an opportunity to keep playing football.
05:28I don't know.
