00:00Just let's do a little more on Sorsby, who is going to be, you know, outside of injury, a first
00:05round draft pick.
00:06And he was already a Heisman Trophy favorite, one of the favorites to the Heisman once he transferred to Texas
00:12Tech.
00:12I do know the kid and his family.
00:15He's a really good kid, and hopefully he does get picked.
00:18I would not be shocked if there's half a dozen kids, teams, pardon me, that not only have an interest
00:25in Brendan, but also would draft him.
00:27Now, I don't think you get the Jets of three first round picks.
00:32They're obviously going to draft the quarterback next year.
00:34He might have been the guy they drafted.
00:36They also think they're going to win eight or nine games this year.
00:39I don't agree with that sentiment, but they do.
00:41And they have rebuilt their offense to try to be able to put points on the board.
00:46And Geno Smith is their veteran quarterback.
00:48If you're the New York Jets, and Aaron Glenn was asked about this, I guess, moments ago, and I'll give
00:53you his answer in a second.
00:54Would you use your first round draft pick?
00:57You have three of them next year, because maybe Sorsby is the future, and maybe you wind up getting a
01:03franchise quarterback who starts off on the bench behind Geno Smith.
01:07And then at some point, you put him into the fray and becomes your starting quarterback.
01:12Aaron Glenn came out and said, when asked if the gambling issues that Brendan Sorsby had might affect their evaluation
01:19of him,
01:19and he said, I don't want to respond to that, because I have no idea.
01:24Now that he, and the reason he'd have no idea is, why would Darren Moogie, the GM, go to him
01:29to talk to him about it,
01:30when we didn't know that Brendan was going to qualify for the supplemental draft?
01:34We don't even have a date, an official date that I'm aware of.
01:37I know it's going to be in the next couple weeks.
01:39I thought there was a set date, but then I was reading this morning, we don't have a set date.
01:45So I've got to get some clarity on that.
01:47But in any event, it'll be in the next couple weeks, obviously, before training camps open up.
01:51I think the Cleveland Browns would have interest in him.
01:55I think the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, because Baker has not signed a new extension yet with them, would be a
02:02place.
02:02I think Carolina, you've got a quarterback whispering coach down in Carolina,
02:09which would make sense if you don't believe in the long-term future of Bryce Young there, right?
02:13And on top of my head, I could probably come up with two or three more teams where it makes
02:19sense to bring a Brandon Sorsby in
02:21without the pressure of, he was our number three pick overall in the draft.
02:26He's our franchise quarterback.
02:28He starts day one.
02:30So I think he's going to get picked.
02:32I can't swear it's going to be first round, but he's going to be picked no worse than the second
02:37round of the supplemental draft.
02:39I've also been told by the Giants are going to kick the can on him because they don't know for
02:45sure yet.
02:45Not in the first round, but you don't know about Jackson Dart yet.
02:48And I've heard the Eagles are also going to do their due diligence because High Rosen is a guy who
02:53thinks if you get him for a two
02:55and you flip him for a one one day, that's really good value.
02:58Or if Jalen Hurts gets hurt or whatever, I think to guarantee getting him, a team will have to get
03:03him in the first
03:03because I think there's at least six teams that will take him in the second.
03:07So I wouldn't be shocked if he ends up going in the first.
03:09There might be.
03:10I don't think the Giants have any interest in him, but I respect the guy you talked to.
03:13So, you know, he covers the Giants.
03:15I don't in that capacity.
03:17Bernie Kosar was a first round NFL supplemental pick.
03:21Brian Bosworth was a first round supplemental pick.
03:25Rob Moore, who I already mentioned, and Dave Brown of the Giants took in 92.
03:29The last quarterback taken was Terrell Pryor.
03:33But nobody's been taken since 2019 because you don't have to pick people.
03:39And they separate NFL teams into thirds.
03:42The first group are the teams that were the worst teams in football.
03:46Then you had teams like the playoff teams and on and on and on.
03:49So, but it's like whoever the worst record, you know, gets first crack at it.
03:53You do give up your 2027 pick in whatever round you decide to make this selection.
03:59And then the kid that gets picked gets the exact same money that as if he had been picked in
04:06the real NFL draft.
04:07So, wherever that slot is, if you're a second round pick, 18th overall, if that's a $10 million contract, that's
04:13the exact contract you get in the supplemental draft.
04:16So, we'll see what happens with Brendan Sorsby.
04:19My only last take on it is that it's just so duplicitous to me when I hear Big Ten teams
04:27and the Big 12 commissioner come out against a kid.
04:31Right?
04:31We're supposed to be supporting kids that have addiction problems and help them manage those problems, come get over those
04:38problems, and then be able to live out their lives in a positive manner.
04:43And what he did was wrong, and what he did did deserve punishment, and I think he has been punished,
04:49right?
04:50He lost a $5 million NIL deal.
04:52He was going to be suspended for the first two games of the season for Texas Tech.
04:57I know for some people that's not enough, and that's fine.
05:00I'm not here to be the arbiter of punishment.
05:03Obviously, as a guy that has gambling problems, I have a different sensitivity to it, and I own that.
05:09I am being far less objective about this because I've lived this, and I own that.
05:14I want to be very honest with the audience about that.
05:16But I also think for the commissioner of the Big 12 to come out against an individual kid and threaten
05:22to not allow Texas Tech to play Big 12 games if he's on the field was extraordinarily heavy-handed.
05:28But I might be alone in that belief, and I have a sensitivity most people don't have.
