00:00As is seemingly often the case, it's a messy old meteorological mix for this bank holiday weekend.
00:06Yes, there'll be some rain around, but most of us will have some fine weather too.
00:11Some showers around this evening.
00:13This line of showery rain drifting its way over northern England and eastern Scotland
00:17contains some heavy, even thundery downpours.
00:19There's a risk of one or two heavy downpours across Kent and East Anglia as well.
00:24But many places becoming dry through the night.
00:26It's quite a bit of cloud around and the warm air is now in place.
00:28So it is going to be a lot milder than many nights recently.
00:33Some towns and cities start the weekend in double digits.
00:36We will start with quite a bit of cloud around, but again, many places will have a dry Saturday morning.
00:42We will see some outbreaks of rain trickling into northern Scotland
00:45and then we'll see outbreaks of showery rain becoming more widespread across northern Ireland
00:50where we could see some heavy, even thundery downpours
00:52and some lively downpours then developing across central and southern parts of Scotland.
00:57For most of England and Wales, it gets brighter.
00:58We'll see some sunshine at times, hazy sunshine across the east,
01:01but the cloud thickening all the while down to the south.
01:04And it's here where we're keeping our eyes on developments
01:07because there's the potential for some pretty nasty looking downpours
01:10to track up across southern counties of England as we go through Saturday afternoon.
01:14Elsewhere, as I said, many places will be dry.
01:17And it's still quite warm across the east.
01:19Perhaps not as warm as Friday, but still temperatures getting into the 20s, 23 possible in one or two places.
01:24Notice, though, chillier air spreading into northern Scotland.
01:28And obviously, with increasing amounts of cloud,
01:30as we see the outbreaks of rain spreading into the south coast, it won't be as warm here.
01:34Probably pretty humid, though.
01:36And this zone of rain, look at it, expand on Saturday evening.
01:39So if you're out across the south, be prepared for some downpours, thunderstorms possible.
01:44Welcome rain, yes, after a very dry April.
01:47But nevertheless, say, this rain could cause a few issues.
01:50We haven't seen much of it recently, so be ready for that on Saturday night.
01:56Further west and further north, well, by the odd shower, many places becoming dry.
01:59That northerly wind bringing a cooler feel across northern Scotland.
02:02But further south, with all that cloud and the warm and humid air in place,
02:06it will be a very mild start to Sunday.
02:08A very different day, though, for eastern counties of England on Sunday compared to Saturday.
02:13Likely to be dull and wet.
02:14The heavier rain affecting eastern counties of England in particular.
02:18The breeze coming in from the North Sea.
02:20A bit of a question mark about how quickly that rain clears away.
02:23But it could well linger across southeast Scotland down to east Anglia for most of the day.
02:28Further west, there will be some heavier showers, potentially even for one or two thunderstorms.
02:33But equally, as you can see, a lot of dry weather, particularly across Scotland,
02:37maybe parts of the Midlands and southeast England are not seeing much in the way of rainfall at all.
02:41Temperature-wise, very different across the east, whereas we're going from maybe mid-20s on Friday.
02:48We're dropping down to low-20s on Saturday.
02:51And by the time we get to Sunday, parts of the east coast may struggle to get to 12 or
02:5513 Celsius.
02:56So quite a change here.
02:57Elsewhere, still relatively warm and humid across the southeast,
03:01but cooler conditions spreading in across Scotland.
03:04Through Sunday night and into Monday, we'll start to lose that showery rain across the east coast.
03:09And overall, Monday looks drier.
03:12Not completely drier.
03:13It'll be a typical May day, really, with quite a bit of cloud around and a few showers.
03:17But many places much drier on Monday compared to Sunday.
03:20And that cooler theme will continue.
03:22And that's likely to dominate as we head into next week as well.
03:26So keep up to date with the forecast through this weekend,
03:28particularly on that heavy rain that's heading in.
03:30Best way to do that, of course, is to subscribe to our YouTube channel or download our free app.
03:35And you can track the rain on the radar on there yourself.
