00:00Welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office as Storm Bram continues to cause problems.
00:05Violent gusts of winds through the course of Tuesday evening across the northwest of Scotland.
00:11That's where we have an amble warning in place and you can see why.
00:13There's the storm system and it's gradually just moving away to the north but it doesn't clear.
00:18It kind of sticks around through Wednesday.
00:20Notice those tightly packed isobars still present across northern Scotland.
00:25So we've still got warnings in place for most of Wednesday across a good chunk of Scotland.
00:30Let's take a focus in on the gusts.
00:33Peeking through the evening along the west coast and then that zone of very strong gusts just tracks a little further north through the night.
00:41Gusts of 70, 80 miles an hour, perhaps in exposed areas for a time, 90 mile an hour gusts.
00:46And then they push northwards, maybe not quite as strong but further pulses of very strong winds likely to come in across parts of northern Scotland during Wednesday.
00:57So that's why we still have warnings in place.
00:59The amber warning until 3 o'clock in the morning across the northwest of Scotland.
01:03As I said, the potential in this zone for gusts of 90 miles an hour.
01:06Those kind of winds likely to cause structural damage, cause travel issues along with power issues as well.
01:12And we have yellow warnings covering other parts of northern Britain as well.
01:16As we go through the evening, the winds start to ease across parts of northern Ireland and northern England.
01:22But warnings remain in place even into Wednesday and extend further north as those strong winds push further north across the northern Isles as well.
01:31For full details of the weather warnings, of course, you can check out our app or our website.
01:37Let's take a look at what the weather's doing then.
01:39As we go through the evening, we've got the winds, talked about those.
01:41As the band of rain swings across Shetland, further outbreaks of rain come into the northwest accompanied by those violent gusts.
01:47Plenty of showers packing into western parts of England and across Wales.
01:51Some for northern Ireland, zipping through on the brisk wind.
01:54But a good part of eastern and southern England will have a largely dry night.
01:59Still quite windy, those winds helping to keep the temperatures up.
02:02So quite as mild as last night perhaps.
02:05But still 9, 10 degrees in most towns and cities as we start Wednesday.
02:09A bit more sunshine around on Wednesday.
02:11It won't be as wet.
02:13And for many, just a bright and blustery day.
02:15But warnings do remain in place across Scotland.
02:18As I mentioned, those winds could still touch 70, perhaps 80 miles an hour in exposed parts of the far north of Scotland.
02:23And with the winds from Tuesday, perhaps weakening structures, that is a cause for concern.
02:29There will also be plenty of showers packing in across Scotland.
02:31A few further south.
02:33But the good news for Wales, southwest England, after the torrential rain of early Tuesday.
02:38It's looking much drier on Wednesday.
02:41So that's good news after the, because the ground is so very, very wet indeed.
02:46And that much of England and Wales having a sunny afternoon.
02:49Temperature-wise, still quite mild for the time of year.
02:51But not as warm as it has been through Tuesday.
02:54We're still looking at generally double digits.
02:56Obviously not feeling all that clever with those very strong winds in northern Scotland.
03:00Which will only slowly ease through the latter part of Wednesday.
03:05Further rain to cross northern Scotland for a time as well.
03:08January then becomes drier for a time everywhere.
03:11Until another weather front approaches.
03:14And that will bring some rain into western areas on Thursday.
03:17Again, with the breeze, temperatures not dipping too far.
03:20Perhaps a bit of a chilly start across parts of the east early on Thursday.
03:24Maybe even some misty conditions for a time.
03:27Again, most of England and Wales looking pretty dry through Thursday.
03:30Albeit with increasing cloud.
03:31That weather front will provide some outbreaks of rain for Northern Ireland.
03:34Doesn't look like anything too heavy.
03:35But nevertheless, again, after all the rain that's fallen recently.
03:38We do need to keep our eyes on that rain pushing into western Scotland through the day.
03:42Still quite breezy, certainly in the west.
03:45But again, not as windy as it has been from Storm Bram.
03:49Temperature-wise, again, double digits for most places.
03:52So still a touch above the average for the time of year.
03:55Plenty going on then with the weather.
03:57And that continues into the weekend too.
03:59Do keep up to date with the very latest.
