00:00Thirty-seven foreigners were detained in raids by the Johor Immigration Department for various
00:07immigration offenses.
00:09Its director, Datuk Mohamed Rusti Mohamed Daruss, said the raids were conducted around
00:14Johor Bahru on Friday.
00:17The arrests involved 13 Myanmar men, 10 Myanmar women, 5 Bangladeshi men, 3 Indonesian men,
00:25and 6 Indonesian women, aged 21 to 60.
00:29Two foreigners also tried to escape during the operation, but were nabbed.
00:34A local man, who was the premises owner, was also arrested for harboring the foreigners.
00:40He said the detainees were found without valid permits, overstaying despite expired or revoked
00:46permits, and misusing social visit passes.
00:50All detainees have been placed at the Setia Tropica immigration depot for further action.
00:56Mohamed Rusti said the operation was based on intelligence from public complaints about
01:00foreigners working without permits.
