02:29Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago, and to our global audience as well, especially those in Grenada, our brothers and sisters
02:35over there in the sister aisle.
02:37We welcome you to be on the tape.
02:38I'm your host, Whitney Husbands, and a lot to discuss today.
02:42And, of course, we can't wait to dive straight in to find out more on what's going on and to
02:46guide us with that.
02:47We have our favorite officer who is with us every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
02:52We have ASP Russell, and he's here with us this evening.
02:55Good evening to you, sir.
02:56Good evening, Ms. Husbands.
02:57Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, and First and Second
03:03Division of Officers of the...
03:05S-Team.
03:06Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, as usual.
03:08It's a pleasure being here, trust that you had a wonderful and safe weekend.
03:12Well, I mean, I am happy that persons were safe over the weekend, but today seems like it wasn't a
03:18safe one in the Westmore area because we are seeing the individuals in broad daylight don't care, don't business of,
03:25you know, persons who are trying to do their daily routine.
03:29And a sport that is very popular and heavily populated, but it goes to show ASP that these monsters, I
03:35have to say, don't care.
03:37As usual, and we're in a SOE, look at this, in a SOE.
03:43And the lady is fighting for items that she worked out for that belongs to her.
03:47Yeah, and I hear that you emphasize we are in an SOE, and it goes to show that we need
03:54much more than an SOE to eradicate crime.
03:59One of the things that stood out to me, excuse me, no one came to the assistance of the female.
04:06There are two females that went into her car before, and usually there will be a security somewhere there, you
04:12know, no one came by the entrance to the doors, you know.
04:15No one came out, no one said anything, and I mean, the lady gave Kite a struggle, so of course
04:19persons would have seen some sort of commotion in the car park, you know.
04:25I don't think you're silent.
04:27I'm hoping that the super farm persons there, the management of super farm, whatever footage that they have, you know,
04:34that they could assist us as well.
04:35They're like from another business place, so we hope that they provide us with the footage that we are able
04:40to identify persons, go through our roads, galleries, and be asking for the public's assistance as well.
04:46And identifying these suspects, because I'm saying some persons may choose to mind their business.
04:51Which we saw, which we saw.
04:53However, you don't know what would be your faith tomorrow.
04:59And are they wrong though?
05:01When I say so, it is almost where you are placed in a situation where you're seeing something happening, it's
05:09not your business, and you could be the one being harmed.
05:12And I understand your fear, and I understand the fears, but I see this gentleman walking across there.
05:17Yes, yeah.
05:17You don't want to be able to test.
05:19But you could do something, you could call the police, you could alert security, you could do a lecture observation,
05:26so a feature, some distinguishing mark of feature that the victim may have missed in the excitement.
05:32You know, you could say he had a tear drop under his left cheek or a tattoo on his right
05:37arm.
05:38You could give some information that could help us narrow down these persons who have been involved in this situation.
05:48No, S.P., I'm not going to lie, I'm really disappointed with the security, because persons are coming to establishment
05:55to patronize your business.
05:57And yes, you are there to make sure that persons are safe, but I am telling you, if I was
06:03parked in the wrong spot, you'd have seen them outside already, saying,
06:06I'm knocking on the glass, I can't park here.
06:07But, I don't know, I'm just upset because something at least could be done.
06:13Yeah, you could raise an alarm, you could come out and ball out, something, and the security is there.
06:20Because the incident took place over a few minutes, because there was indeed a struggle.
06:24Yes.
06:25So, we are asking Trantibu as well, I mean, we have been encouraging persons to be vigilant, to be alert,
06:30and I am saying, this is an unsuspecting female.
06:33And I wonder, I see these gentlemen, I wonder if they have mothers, or sisters, cousins, aunts, grandmother, girlfriends.
06:43Yes, but I'm not going to lie, I mean, as you said, it is wrong for us to be fearful
06:51of the elements that are wrong,
06:53just because that's what they want, but I am not sticking.
06:56Again, from the time I crack that door, whatever gets stuck when I close in, it will get stuck, and
07:03I try to open it back and close it back, you know,
07:05because I close in the door immediately and lock in the door, because you just don't know, they can come
07:09from any angles.
07:10I stop parking frontwards, I tend to most times do a reverse park, because I want, in case of anything,
07:16I can push out.
07:17Yeah, and that is good, it gives you a quick reaction time, because if that person was parked, had parked
07:24facing the other way,
07:25they would have probably seen the persons coming to them.
07:27And, you know, I will tell you what is interesting to me, and sometimes we have to really look at
07:33it from the person's perspective as well.
07:36You, knowing it's broad daylight, you're not expecting, you know, this to happen to you,
07:41but then I ask Channel and Tobago, do you know when something will happen to you?
07:47You can be driving down the highway, you don't know if or when a car may or may not cross
07:51the median and run into your vehicle.
07:54So we have to really train our minds and recondition our minds to be, to expect anything, to always be
08:01aware.
08:02I know it's a stressful mental state to be in, but these are the times that we are living in,
08:08and we are asking persons to be vigilant and cautious as we are out there to continue to partner with
08:15us,
08:15because a lot of the times this may not have been their first situation,
08:21but because they got away or somebody refused to make a report because probably the purse that they snatched was
08:29probably low in value
08:30and didn't have anything much in it, they choose not to make a report.
08:34But every report you make brings us closer because we have more descriptions.
08:39We now have a modus operandi, the kind of, we now have a profile of a victim that these guys
08:45are preying on.
08:46So we are asking you to come and make the reports.
08:49We may not detect everything, but I assure you right now our detection rate is trending in a positive way.
08:55And any significant, whether significant or insignificant increase, we're still really thankful for the increase
09:04because it helps make China and Tobago a safer place.
09:07So we ask for that continued partnership.
09:09And for those who would have witnessed something, come out and say something.
09:13Yes, and of course anyone with information, we ask you to please contact 555-999-Oyoneers Police Station
09:19that we could apprehend these individuals and you would not be the fit of a situation like this.
09:25As we move forward here at this time, we're seeing a police officer was bounced down
09:30and I know this was trending on social media, on the PBR in the vicinity of 3rd Avenue.
09:36Now, we are seeing here the officers working extremely hard.
09:39Let's acknowledge that.
09:41Of course.
09:42And it is clear that these individuals are targeting the maxi-taxi drivers and their passengers.
09:50Yes, ma'am?
09:51Well, I would love for Trinidad to be able to see the video once more.
09:55Yeah.
09:55Because there's a narrative that the officer was knocked down.
09:58The officer was not knocked down.
10:00Let me clear with that immediately.
10:02He slipped and he fell.
10:04I could see rain was falling.
10:06And you see he's running down the suspect.
10:09What this situation really was, and I want to say kudos to the police,
10:14and I want to say to the public who found it funny and had their comments to make,
10:21that could be the police officer standing between you and the criminal tomorrow,
10:27or your children and somebody wanting to do them something.
10:31People found this funny?
10:31Yes.
10:32And I'm sorry that you could not have heard the audio,
10:35because the audio, you know, we find and we take every opportunity to bash the police,
10:42the good ones, as well as the bad ones.
10:45And I'm not saying don't bash the bad ones,
10:47but let me tell you something.
10:49The police service,
10:51the men and women of the Chinan and Tobago police service,
10:54are human beings as well,
10:56with feelings.
10:57Correct.
10:58Despite what the public may feel,
11:00we are human,
11:00and if you cut us,
11:01we will bleed as well.
11:03Notwithstanding that,
11:05it was a situation where three gentlemen attempted to snatch a gold chain from somebody.
11:15The same jury we tell people,
11:16be careful how you're wearing,
11:17when you're wearing it.
11:18Again, broad daylight.
11:20But persons upset when there's a roadblock in broad daylight.
11:24Two suspects were held.
11:26That suspect got away,
11:29but investigation and inquiries are continuing,
11:31and he will soon be captured.
11:35But we held two suspects out of the three of them,
11:38and they will be charged soon enough.
11:42So it was an assault with intent to rupture in Antibagos.
11:45They attempted to snatch a gold chain off the neck of another officer.
11:48Not an officer, a civilian.
11:50A civilian.
11:51Question, how was the officer?
11:52The officer is good, you know,
11:54because we could see the officer getting out.
11:57Nothing crazy.
11:58Yeah, just some bruises from the fall.
12:01And we want to repeat again,
12:03the maxi driver did not bomb the officer.
12:06If you look at the video,
12:07you will see that he slipped and fell a few feet.
12:10Yeah.
12:11But he was trying to tell the officer,
12:12obviously, it wasn't a malicious act that was happening here.
12:16You know, the maxi taxi driver saw what was going on
12:20and tried to assist the officer.
12:22From what I'm looking at here,
12:23my interpretation could be wrong.
12:25Am I?
12:26It looked like the maxi taxi driver tried to assist.
12:30Well, I'm not certain,
12:31but if that is what the maxi driver tried to do.
12:34Yeah, but if you see,
12:35he was suave and he was trying to block the man from running,
12:38not the officer.
12:40Oh, all right.
12:41So, at the end of the day,
12:44I love where you stated that the officers,
12:46they have their feelings,
12:47and they are there to protect us,
12:49and they're still human,
12:50so we must remember that.
12:51And I hope that the officer is okay to go back on the beach
12:54and do what is best, protect and serve.
12:57Of course.
12:58Yeah.
12:58With pride.
12:59With pride.
12:59So, let's head to the Charleville area.
13:01I should go on as to be exact.
13:03And we're seeing here where firearms seized in the said area,
13:06one pistol, one shotgun with assorted ammunition.
13:09One man was arrested.
13:10You know, usually we ask,
13:11when we see all of this,
13:13who was arrested?
13:14Right.
13:14Okay, so someone was arrested.
13:15Someone was arrested, yes.
13:17And this was just an exercise in the Charleville area,
13:19and we thank the public for the information.
13:21And when we work together,
13:22these are the kind of success stories
13:24we could come here and share with you.
13:26The Charleville Police Service,
13:27we're about building trust and transparency.
13:31Yes.
13:31Going forward, this,
13:33look how much lives we save.
13:34Mm-hmm.
13:36Imagine one of those firemen being pointed at you,
13:38you're handing over your things easily.
13:40Rubberies.
13:41Yeah.
13:42We stopped.
13:43Lives.
13:45We saved.
13:46Kidnappings.
13:48Extortion.
13:49Mm-hmm.
13:50Because those are the tools of trade
13:52of the criminals of Trinidad and Tobago.
13:54So, we thank the public,
13:56and I want to commend my officers
13:58and that they continue to work hard.
14:01That's what we're saying.
14:02Now, you mentioned extortion,
14:03and with that being said,
14:05two arrested in anti-extortion exercise.
14:07Now, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service,
14:09the TTPS, advises
14:10that two persons were arrested
14:12during an anti-extortion exercise
14:14conducted in the Central Division
14:16during the early hours of Tuesday,
14:19the 14th, April, 2026.
14:21Now, during the exercise,
14:22two individuals were arrested
14:24for the offense of demanding money with menace.
14:27They have been identified
14:28as a 32-year-old man
14:30of Hall Street, Todd's Road, Carapo,
14:33and a 38-year-old man
14:34of Todd's Road, Carapo, Valley Road, Brasso.
14:37Now, the TTPS remains committed
14:40to targeting individuals involved
14:42in extortion
14:43and other serious criminal activities
14:45and continues to encourage members
14:47of the public
14:48to report such matters
14:50to the authorities.
14:51Yes, please.
14:52Ms. Osborne,
14:53remember recently you asked
14:54about a sting exercise.
14:55Yes, I did.
14:56You see the results.
14:58I did.
14:58I see no more.
14:59Yes.
15:00You see the results.
15:01And I want to thank the victim
15:02for having that braveness,
15:07that courage
15:09to come forward
15:10and bring the information
15:12and really assist us
15:14so we could hold these people
15:16and put them behind bars
15:18and successfully have a prosecution
15:20before the magistrate.
15:23Okay.
15:24So we could have them behind bars
15:25and set an example
15:26for an extended period of time.
15:28We thank that person
15:29for coming forward.
15:31Yes, yes.
15:31And this is why I encourage persons
15:33to come forward
15:34because once you,
15:36we are willing to work with you,
15:38we won't always get right.
15:39We would not always respond
15:41in a time frame
15:42that you need us to respond,
15:44but we are here to help.
15:47And where we could do
15:48what we could do,
15:49we would always do
15:50what we can do.
15:51So.
15:52Yes.
15:52And I just want to make
15:53a correction here quickly
15:54as Kaparo was the location
15:56of the two individuals
15:58who were caught.
15:59All right.
15:59So as we move forward,
16:00let's see what's making
16:01the SOE update today
16:03of April the 14th, 2026.
16:07Number of operations,
16:083,551.
16:10Number of target priority offenders,
16:141,265.
16:16Searches conducted,
16:172,173.
16:20Traffic operations,
16:221,992.
16:24Total persons arrested,
16:261,524.
16:28Total persons charged,
16:29340.
16:31Firearms recovered,
16:33we're seeing increase
16:33in pistols,
16:34gunshots,
16:35well,
16:35shotguns that is,
16:37and a total of 88.
16:39Ammunition recovered,
16:41we're seeing an increase
16:42with the rounds
16:42of 9mm,
16:44the 12 gauge,
16:44giving us a total
16:45of 2,153.
16:48And dangerous drug seized,
16:50we're seeing increase again
16:51with the cannabis,
16:52the drug of choice
16:53in Trinidad and Tobago,
16:54of course.
16:54Yep,
16:55the drug of choice.
16:57So we see firearms,
16:59ammunition,
17:00drugs again.
17:01Mm-hmm.
17:02And then we wonder,
17:03and I want to again
17:05commend the officers,
17:06because I will commend
17:07my officers every day
17:09for the work
17:10that they do
17:13relentlessly,
17:14the thankless job
17:15of the police officer.
17:16I would thank them
17:18every day.
17:19And I hope those
17:21in authority
17:22see the efforts
17:24being exerted
17:25by the officers
17:26of the Trinidad and Tobago
17:28police service
17:28and our other stakeholders
17:30who partner with us
17:31in exercises as well.
17:33And I must see
17:34the person
17:34from the customs,
17:36immigration,
17:37licensing authority,
17:39the defense force,
17:41and to see
17:42the efforts
17:43that we do
17:44and really,
17:44really,
17:45when they're doing
17:46the budget,
17:48think about us.
17:49I'm not going
17:50down that road at all.
17:51Right now,
17:51let's take a look
17:51at what's making
17:52today's headlines.

22:20of media briefings
22:21of course
22:21keeping the public
22:22informed
22:23in the different districts
22:24different areas

25:35by the CID

25:40with regards

25:52and other persons
25:54of interest
25:55precision patrols
25:58will be strategic
25:59and will be guided
26:01by statistical data
26:03from the crime
26:04and problem
26:05analysis unit
26:06focusing on areas
26:08where our pillar crimes
26:10are occurring
26:11and to increase
26:13police visibility
26:14in those areas
26:18and to increase
26:20and to increase
26:20and the
26:20are ongoing
26:22into all reports

26:29suspects are being
26:31arrested

26:32and are appearing
26:34before the courts
26:48north central division
26:50media briefing
26:51ASP
26:51I mean we saw you
26:52there
26:53and of course
26:53what you were doing
26:54well Mr. Osborne
26:55and these exercises
26:57will have been
26:58nationwide
26:59throughout all the divisions
27:00what we have observed
27:02is sporadic incidents
27:05of violent crimes
27:07throughout
27:08so looking at our operations
27:11steady guard
27:12we decided
27:13to just amplify it a bit
27:15increase our operational visibility
27:19increase our road presence
27:20of course
27:22in collaboration
27:23with our partners
27:24from the defense force
27:25the immigration
27:26the customs
27:27the prison service
27:28traffic wardens
27:30coming together
27:31to work in a collaborative effort
27:33to reduce crime
27:35to reduce the fear of crime
27:36to dismantle gang activity
27:38criminal gang
27:39to suppress gang violence
27:41to treat with the petty crimes
27:43and the serious crimes
27:44as well
27:45as the
27:46road violations
27:48and I want to bring something
27:52to the attention
27:52of Trinidad and Tobago
27:53because you have your loved ones
27:55traveling in vehicles
27:57yeah
27:58and let me tell you
27:59what we observe
28:02I saw a driver's permit
28:05Miss Osborne
28:05that was issued
28:09in 20
28:12in 2003
28:14yeah
28:14and expires in 2026
28:17excuse me
28:18he stood in 2003
28:22and expires in
28:242026
28:25and your vehicle
28:27only covers
28:28an insured
28:29driver
28:30so if this person
28:32driving a vehicle
28:35have an incident
28:36or an accident
28:37with one of your relatives
28:38you have nothing
28:39to get
28:40not even your vehicle
28:42repaired
28:42I just need to know
28:43where he's getting that license
28:44so I don't have to be
28:44paying for my own
28:46every five years or so
28:47yes
28:48and it goes even further
28:49because we're looking at
28:50a multi-pronged approach
28:51as well
28:51we're not only focusing
28:52on targeting hard crime
28:54but we
28:55just today
28:56we were speaking about
28:57you know
28:57our collaboration
28:58with respect to our
28:59anti-bullying campaign
29:00so we're going back
29:00into the schools
29:01we're going to the community
29:03for the community
29:03led initiatives
29:04as well
29:05through the United States
29:06and Tobago
29:06because we want to ensure
29:08that we really find
29:09the root and underlying
29:10causes
29:11of this criminal behavior
29:13may be in the home
29:14may be parenting
29:14schools
29:15etc
29:16because we want to target
29:17the youth
29:17as well
29:19going forward
29:19so we don't have
29:21a situation
29:22where like
29:22we're trying to
29:23mop out
29:23you see
29:24I just take out
29:24one bucket
29:25two more buckets
29:25come
29:26we're trying to really
29:27reduce those situations
29:28as well
29:29we thank the CAPA
29:30for their assistance
29:32looking at the statistical
29:33data to show
29:34to guide us
29:35in deploying
29:36and redeploying
29:37our human resources
29:39so we can be proactive
29:40in area
29:42because sometimes
29:42with crime
29:43when you start to put
29:43pressure in a particular
29:44area
29:45we try to experience
29:45something called
29:46crime displacement
29:47where the gangs
29:48are now setting up
29:49somewhere else
29:50so you know
29:52all I want to tell
29:53Trinidad and Tobago
29:53is that
29:54the Trinidad and Tobago
29:56police service
29:56we will continue
29:58to do all our efforts
29:59to make Trinidad and Tobago
30:01safe for those who live
30:02work
30:03visit Trinidad and Tobago
30:04we know we took an oath
30:06and we will continue
30:07to uphold our oath
30:09from now till
30:10yes
30:11we have a caller
30:12on the line at this time
30:13caller good evening
30:22I have a question
30:25I visited Trinidad
30:27about five weeks ago
30:30and while driving
30:31I'm living in the U.S.
30:32and while driving
30:33I found myself
30:34in a roadblock
30:37while I'm there
30:37the officer stated to me
30:39that he wanted my license
30:41and insurance
30:42which I give him
30:43and then he said
30:44he need my passport
30:46I said
30:47well why do you need my passport
30:48he said
30:48because we need to find out
30:50when you're coming
30:51to the country
30:52how long you're here
30:54and you know
30:55and we need this information
30:57and you have to drive
30:58while you're in Trinidad
31:00with your passport
31:01along with your driver's license
31:03now the climate that we are in
31:05where robbery could take place
31:07at any time
31:07I really didn't feel comfortable
31:09driving around
31:10with my passport
31:12because I mean
31:13if I get wrong
31:14and I take my life
31:15I can come back
31:16and get a new one
31:17but I need to take my license
31:18and passport
31:19I have difficulties
31:20accessing the embassy
31:22trying to reach
31:22my land to be
31:23and then come in here
31:24and now I have to go
31:24through that house
31:26so anyhow
31:27upon that
31:28let's say I went to Grenada
31:30two weeks after
31:32and when I went to Grenada
31:33I spoke to an officer
31:35told me to go to the station
31:36I can't remember how much I paid
31:38I think probably
31:38four days
31:39I can't remember
31:40but they took all my information
31:42put this on a piece of paper
31:44and I was able to drive
31:45with that paper
31:47without having to be
31:48moving around
31:49with my US passport
31:50but the time that I'm in Grenada
31:53you know
31:54and I tell faith
31:56because I could have left that
31:57in the hotel
31:58faith
32:00my question is
32:01why does each friend
32:02and I adopt something like that
32:03because it is difficult
32:04especially the climate
32:05to be living
32:06to be driving around
32:07with a US passport
32:08and a driver's license
32:10and you can go into any shop
32:12any bar
32:13any grocery
32:14and you leave a bit
32:16I just want to find out
32:18if there is any way
32:19the police
32:19or the traffic
32:21the licensing department
32:23could do some kind of modification
32:26where we don't have
32:27when we do it
32:28to be driving
32:30with these important documents
32:31thank you
32:32thank you sir
32:34I like that situation
32:37that the caller raised
32:38because I experienced
32:39the same thing
32:40in Grenada last year
32:41the reason why we asked
32:44for the passport
32:44we have a situation
32:46with illegal immigrants
32:47and when I go to the US
32:48as well
32:49I also use my passport
32:50because it's
32:52you are allowed
32:53to drive for I think
32:54three months
32:56in Trinidad and Tobago
32:57on a foreign driver's license
33:01so it's to verify
33:03that you are still
33:04within the three months
33:06because our system
33:08really and truly
33:09is not hooked up
33:10to that of the immigration system
33:12and we may not have
33:13a number readily available
33:15on hand to call
33:16and verify
33:17but that situation
33:19where he went
33:20to the station
33:20in Grenada
33:21is something
33:22we can definitely
33:24look at
33:25and implement here
33:26because it saves you
33:27from having to work
33:28with such a critical
33:30piece of document
33:32in your passport
33:33so I hear you
33:34and I appreciate
33:35that concern
33:36but you know
33:37we have this ideology
33:39of what
33:40we're safe
33:41right
33:41and I know
33:42a friend of mine
33:44traveled
33:44to a tourist country
33:46and the villa
33:48that they were staying in
33:51was broken into
33:52and guess what they took
33:53a passport
33:55and I'll show you
33:56a U.S. passport
33:56we take that break
33:57we'll be back
34:10Struggling to lose weight

35:39you're worth it
36:02you're worth it
36:38we are back
36:39remember you can give us a call
36:40at 623-1711 extension 1996 and 1997 now ASP we spoke about the situation with the gentleman who
36:48called and I know you have some information so to the gentleman and to all those who are listening
36:52even to our international viewers as per the Trinidad and Tobago laws the embryo narrative
36:594850 section 52 as it pertains to visitors to our country one the person must be of the legal age
37:06of
37:0617 because that is our driving age here but I'll take it further if visitor to Trinidad and Tobago or
37:12holder of a driver's permit referred to in points two and three must have the driver's permit on his
37:18or her person or in the vehicle to produce to law enforcement officers police officers and transport
37:26officers and must produce upon requests the valid domestic driver's permit in support of
37:36IDP meaning in support of the person being here as a visitor yes a valid certificate of insurance for
37:42the vehicle that they are currently operating and the travel document passport in brackets certifying
37:48the date of arrival in Trinidad and Tobago so something we could probably implement in the
37:54short term is that they have the immigration create some sort of document that they could now put their
38:00official stamp on and you walk around with some part of your arrival card or something that yeah that
38:06you have in the same compartment of your wallet or your handbag together with your driving permit
38:13from outside international driver's license or your driver's license from the us or whatever country
38:18so that it is there and you can produce it on the request all right we have a call on
38:24the line caller good evening
38:28hello hi hi good evening
38:30good afternoon good afternoon good evening ma'am first time caller here but i listen to you guys

40:07come these officers that i called to shout out they were on patrol they didn't have to stop and i
40:14appreciate the fact that they stopped you know because we reward we rejoice when bad things happen
40:23um but if they didn't stop would i still be waiting for officers to come and assist us to take
40:29a report
40:31you know kudos to um wpc sam samson she was very professional in taking the report when we went to
40:41st joseph's police station so i just want to say thank you i mean i'm still shaken by the accident
40:48you know every time i think about this i get so emotional but i'm thankful to be alive i'm thankful
40:55that my unborn child is are alive and everything is okay with the baby as well you know so i'm
41:04just
41:04praying that god see us through this situation and the necessary officers take the investigation
41:11serious so they don't take months to investigate the matter so at least we would know what is the outcome
41:22right because the person that would upset me would have run into a lady mini match right so i'm just
41:31thanking god to be alive today and like i said too that we both are alive because you know when
41:40i get the
41:41impact the seat belt i just feel the seat belt tighten on my belly and you know like oh now
41:48i still get
41:48pains underneath my belly even today i had to leave work early because the pain was so unbearable
41:56you know so my husband keeps saying you know if you wasn't wearing a seat belt it could have been
42:01wolves but you know it's just sometimes you trying to be a law abiding citizen driving and with the
42:08speed limit you know regardless of who um what they say who's at the right away junction or whatever
42:17you know you have to drive with caution and you have to drive in your speed limit because
42:23i'm sitting rethinking the situation and you know i said to myself if i wasn't in the speed limit
42:30things could have been worse you know and i think it's something that the officers have to look into
42:37regardless of who has the right away because i'm not familiar with that street first i'm actually
42:43passing on that street normally i use the other street that take you around to by the bushwood side
42:49in st augustine to carry us through the back of ue right and um i actually put someone with me
42:59i said how
43:00fast you were going because for you to hit me and run into somebody it means that you lost control
43:08of
43:08your vehicle yeah all right you know so i just want to say thanks to these officers that they hear
43:15me
43:15the big guy he was so you know everything was so happening so fast that the officer the fire the
43:22plain clothes fire officer he called the police officers he called the ambulance after the after now

48:24and we are back now asp we spoke about like approximately two weeks ago about these dangerous
48:29dogs and how serious it is and we spoke about the fines and the imprisonment and not all and
48:35and i'm seeing here where a woman was bitten by dogs on lady chancellor and it was also in our
48:40headlines now a woman was beaten by bitten by two dogs yesterday reportedly pitbulls while exercising
48:47along lady chancellor hill of the queen's park savannah now the police said that while they were aware of
48:54the incident which reportedly occurred around 6 a.m they also said that the woman is yet to make an
49:01official report to the belmont police station and because of that we are also seeing according to
49:07the daily express here that the superintendent tom who reported the following where the incident was
49:14concerned he instructed an increase in patrols along the popular jogging spot he also promised heightened
49:20patrols in other areas in the port of spain area for use of exercise and one park in particular that
49:27was very popular is in nelson mandela park along with the queen's park savannah where we also see
49:33the dogs as well but we here again miss husbands what i would want to advise the officers at the
49:40belmont
49:41police station go and locate the lady and take the report please um um china that and tobago the dog
49:51lovers
49:52because i'm not going to be a next situation where why the police ain't gonna run down coming on and
49:57why
49:57the police wouldn't go and run down bandit but your dogs we are asking you to take control of your
50:02dogs
50:03this is the second person that would have been injured attacked by a pitbull only the chancellor
50:09and miss husband i can say to you and i tell you i always tell you trying to be good
50:13when you
50:13call me and you say something to me i always action your information so i had a conversation
50:19coming out of the last incident with the senior superintendent of the port of spain division
50:24mr form yes and he gave me certain assurances i am sure that very soon we would see even more
50:32police around these areas the lady chancellor the savannah the nelson mandela park yes and we are asking
50:40the dog owners to muzzle the dogs keep your dogs on a leash because when we when we enforce it
50:47they themselves would have to be upset with the police but your dogs are making persons life
50:52difficult and what you are doing constitutes an offense so you are also breaking the law
50:59i was looking at tv6 news recently and and i say because i'm here and there was some dog show
51:06or some
51:07animal show in the savannah and you saw all sorts of dangerous dogs with out muscles
51:12and families are walking next to these dogs well they're trained the train they're trained until
51:20they bite somebody well if you're you're not aware we will mention it again quickly before we head back
51:25to the phone lines the dog control act unlicensed unsecured dangerous dogs can lead to fines of fifty
51:32thousand dollars to a hundred thousand dollars and imprisonment for one year if the dog injures or
51:40kills a person the owner can be liable so please take that into consideration and do the right
51:45thing we have a caller caller good evening hi hi good evening sir good evening to you sir good evening
51:51sir
51:52i have two i have two questions there for the asp first question um the the prime minister was
51:59alluding to the fact about loud noise in community and whatever that he was going to deal with legislation
52:05both from household and vehicle could you say sir where that has reached you know that um you know with
52:15regard to those noise and secondly sir i have some very very important information that i would like
52:23to relate to the commissioner or probably to yourself mr asp how is it possible you know i have some
52:31some
52:31very very serious information i have it on video you know where entire station is involved in these kind of
52:39things you know i'm very senior but uh you know i'm very careful to share this information could you
52:47advise me you know probably you know how do you get to the commissioner or to your good self with
52:52this
52:53well you can write the commissioner or you can leave your number with um jackie and i would contact you
53:01by tomorrow godspear or someone shall you know you're busy i would i would contact him and get the information
53:09and pass it on to the relevant um authority where it has to go but it does not stop him
53:17i don't want to
53:18discourage him if he so desires from writing the commissioner as well yes so i appreciate he can it could
53:25be
53:25multiple approach yes of course right and to the uh vehicles with the noise in it hard pong yeah the
53:33loud music yes we have started some um you know law enforcement activities with respect to these vehicles
53:41the thing about it is when chenarad and tobago see a roadblock what what do they do flashy lights they
53:49flash the lights they get on their phones and show your sign of course after that everybody comes down
53:56the road nicer nice you know the boxes are there it's on the back of the seat but there's no
54:03offense
54:04for the boxes being on the back of the seat when they pass the police it raises back up so
54:10so you have
54:10to blame some of your people in trinidad and tobago to the parents to the woman and to the young
54:17men who have
54:18there and i would tell us i would i would say something here who have these people passing
54:24through their neighborhood to check them and knowing that they are coming outside their homes boom boom boom
54:28and not saying anything you are also responsible because the day that this is your mother or your
54:34son or your daughter sick you would not want that for yourself correct in cleaver where i live
54:41i when situations like this happened i come out of my house and i speak to the driver so much
54:49so
54:49recently our driver did it and by the time i went out the house they were already apologizing oh god
54:56sorry i don't talk to him about that and this is what it means in the community to stand up
55:01for your
55:01community yeah we have another call our final call this evening caller good evening yes good evening
55:06good evening so quick quick question um so the asp uh we could be under um a state of emergency
55:16does it mean that the the rule of the chandelier police is is shifting from um community policing to a
55:24warrior mentality all right thank you thank you caller esp warrior mentality well i don't know if the
55:45caller experienced a particular situation but i can assure you professionalism respect integrity dignity
55:53excellence i still do what we're trying to be good police service notwithstanding that we are in an
55:59soe and soe just gives us some legislative powers to react and to do certain things with respect to
56:06searching properties and stuff like that we are able to get things done at a faster speed but to say
56:13it
56:14gives us a warrior mentality so i do not know what you're referring to i don't know if you experienced
56:19something that may have caused or contributed to this kind of thinking but it is not the purpose of the
56:26police service in an soe is it more just intense i don't even use the word aggressive because warrior
56:32mode to me is more so you're going more hands-on and it's targeting what is needed so uproot the
56:38problem but the thing is i don't want to take the chance to interpret what he or she means by
56:42by
56:43by warrior mode you know but what i'm saying we are increasing operational visibility throughout
56:50the country on the nation's road and the communities and net in the road networks we are trying to
56:56dismantle gangs suppress gang violence and gang activities increase our firearm interdiction ammunition
57:03interdiction as well as drug eradication to make the community safer yes that for that
57:11i can say yes we have intensified some things i can say yes there's a level of restriction to
57:17how we distribute um vacation leave i can see yes we are relying heavily on kappa for the intelligence
57:23based as to the deployment and redeployment of officers to be proactive in our crime fighting
57:28initiatives yes thank you so much for being here with us as usual we appreciate you don't forget
57:33tomorrow legally speaking wednesdays our training at law and director will be with us mr ali we get ready
57:38for news coming up next tnt be safe god bless we're out
