Trinidad and Tobago secured their 9th medal at the Pan American Games in Paraguay. Shaniqua Bascombe sprinted to gold in the women's 100 meters with a solid time of 11.19 seconds. More medals may be on the way as T&T has two more finalists in the men's 400 meters.

00:06but she still needed to run the race. She secured possibly the biggest winner of her career at the
00:12Pan American Championships, winning the race in 11.19 seconds. Dominican Republic's Lerani Alonso,
00:18who broke the junior Pan Am record with an 11.08 clocking, in the semis came second with an 11.40
00:26second time. Puerto Rico's Frances Colón, third in 11.46 seconds. Following the race, Bascom was
00:33overjoyed after coming back from injury. Well, I feel proud of myself knowing that it stands up at a
00:40lucky start and I had doubts of myself coming into the finals because I was studying my start from
00:47yesterday knowing that it was off, but I take my coach advice and I listen to her and she
00:55tell me, well, I have to get out the blocks, I have to be more aggressive and to pay attention to the
01:01starter. The win secured her an automatic spot to the 2027 Lima Pan American Games as she earned the
01:08TNT's ninth medal at the competition. I don't know what to say. I really don't know what to say

01:28qualify for Lima 2227. Well, that's good news. Shaquem McKay and Jaden Marchand stormed their way
01:35into the men's 400-meter final, ranked second and third. In the first semifinal heat, McKay clocked
01:4145.98 to finish second, while Marchand won the second semifinal in 46.26 seconds.
