It was an electric atmosphere at the airport on Monday night as Trinidad and Tobago's young gymnasts returned home with 161 medals.

This follows their dominance at the Carifta Gymnastics Championships in Jamaica.

00:08The smiles from the well-wishers said it all at the Piaco International Airport as
00:12the participants retained home to a hero's welcome. The team finished on top
00:18of the standings with 161 medals comprising 72 gold, 61 silver and 28
00:24bronze. Among those proud of the team's achievements was Joanne Webb who's the
00:28second vice president of the Trinidad and Tobago Gymnastics Federation.
00:32In terms of, you know the girls did an amazing job, the hard work paid off because they've
00:37been working hard in the gyms every day and we saw the results of that
00:43hard work pay off for us on this trip. So congratulations to all our team and we thank Trinidad and Tobago
00:51for everything that was done, for the welcome back and you know we just look
00:55forward to the next Carifta Games. One of the participants, Michaela Francis won four gold
01:00medals with vault being her strongest apparatus. But what about the rest?
01:05Bounce was probably one of my hardest apparatus because it was one of my weakest, but I did try my best and I still did get gold.
01:13Beam was good, you know it's one of my strong events so it wasn't too frustrating or hard.
01:19T&T were extremely strong and therefore way ahead of Jamaica who came second
01:24with 118 medals.
