00:03The story opens up many days after the destruction of Restoration HQ.
00:09That's unnecessary.
00:11Sonic goes to visit the Chaotix, which is confusing because he doesn't explain why.
00:18It's so stupid that the Chaotix get freaked out at seeing him and interrogate him under a lamp for participating in a race he wasn't allowed to.
00:28Even though the rest of Sonic's friends all immediately assumed that he must have done so because the one responsible for that race was evil.
00:36They knew that the one responsible for that race was evil.
00:40This reminds me of Sonic X where they were made a complete fool out of.
00:45This is the same kind of energy where it seems like the writing hates and misunderstands them.
00:51Aspio phrases things as Sonic being in cahoots with Eggman.
00:56Which nobody told him. Why would anyone tell him?
01:01And Sonic recaps boringly.
01:04Charmy tells him that because the Chaotix are detectives, he should have come to them.
01:10Sonic tries to justify after the fact that they were already on the case and needed to be saved anyways.
01:17So he couldn't have come to them.
01:19What does Vector care that Sonic interrupted the races?
01:24What does Charmy care?
01:26I didn't think Vector was lawful stupid.
01:30He knew he was working for Eggman and Heroes and he still happily went through with saving him.
01:37I don't think he cares about the rules being broken.
01:41Aspio said that evil must die in the results screen of Heroes.
01:46Which indicates how Sega thinks his character actually is.
01:50But killing isn't legal, so Aspio isn't supposed to be lawful stupid either.
01:56And Charmy was raised by them, so you'd think he'd have the same values.
02:01Why is he talking as if it's Sonic's fault that Restoration HQ ended up destroyed,
02:06when Clutch only tried to destroy it because Charmy had his evil deeds exposed after Tails freed him from a cage?
02:13And it was Jules' idea.
02:15Wouldn't he know that something bad would have happened if Clutch hadn't been stopped?
02:20Though I don't know what.
02:22I don't think he would have done anything he wasn't already doing.
02:26What was even his plan?
02:28Why is he mad at him for stopping Clutch from getting away?
02:32Sonic somehow doesn't stand up for himself by saying what I did.
02:37As if the writer somehow agrees with him.
02:39Did he even read issue 75?
02:42Sonic came here for Vector's help in finding Clutch.
02:46He saw Eggman's robot carry Clutch away, so it would be common sense to assume Eggman has him.
02:53Oh, I guess he means he thinks he can turn to Vector to find any base of Eggman's that he doesn't know the location of.
03:00It would suck if that was established in the games, because then the heroes would officially have no excuse for not doing something about Eggman.
03:08The logic would have to be, it takes too long for them to search every base.
03:13Once Sonic knows the location of all the bases, I guess his logic is, the Chaotics know the locations that he doesn't.
03:21Even though that's not in their job description.
03:24Aspio calls Sonic out on working with the manipulator.
03:28And at least Sonic gets to call out Vector's hypocrisy.
03:32As Vector at least knew he was working for Eggman and heroes.
03:36So he should be saying this to Vector instead.
03:39Saying it to Aspio to try to make him feel bad is mean.
03:43But Aspio treated him terribly first.
03:46So it's not quite like last time.
03:49As for why Sonic knows them.
03:52Vector must have told him while bragging about his adventure.
03:55He took too long to do it though.
03:58Sonic flatters them as the best detectives he knows.
04:02And Vector likes that Sonic is eyewitness testimony to everything that went down.
04:07Why is he surprised like he's just now figuring this out?
04:12Well that scene was extremely awful.
04:16It shows Emeraldville ruins.
04:19I hate that they call it Emeraldville without explaining that it's an Emerald Hill.
04:24Silver's complaining that his vegetable garden is a ruined mess.
04:29But he admits that it'd make good compost for the next one.
04:33And Blaze says she admires that he focuses on improvement.
04:36He thanks her in this blatant waste of time scene when it comes to plot progression.
04:41Aside from the blatant Silver and Blaze shiptees pandering.
04:46It's got no value and bores me.
04:49He's called ambitious for wanting to make an orchard.
04:52Blaze tells Amy she's glad she's not hurt.
04:55And Amy shows pity for Silver over his garden.
04:59Why did it take many days for her to say this?
05:03It turns out Blaze got shown the Northern Lights by Silver.
05:07And Blaze finally addresses that while she and Silver were having fun.
05:12Tails was in peril.
05:14So she's ashamed of that.
05:16Out of nowhere she says she must look out for her people.
05:19And is just using that metaphorically because they're her friends.
05:23She says she'll be their bodyguard.
05:25And Amy hugs her calling her sweet.
05:27And she thanks her uncomfortably.
05:29Amy apologizes and says she forgot she's not a hugger.
05:33But if Blaze was Sonic she wouldn't have the morality to say this.
05:39So whatever.
05:40She's only saying that because she doesn't have a crush on her.
05:43Oh and it turns out this isn't even how Blaze is in the games.
05:47Because in their Olympics victory animation.
05:49Blaze doesn't look uncomfortable when Amy hugs her from behind.
05:53And she doesn't even care when Cream hugs her in Advance 2.
05:58So that's a downgrade.
06:00But I don't blame it for assuming Blaze would be too serious to be a hugger.
06:04And only made an exception for a little girl because she's a little girl.
06:08Because she's a lot like Shadow.
06:10And this is clearly an alternate universe.
06:13And she's also a lot like Knuckles who is also not a hugger.
06:17I didn't know this at first because I refused to play the Olympic games.
06:22I'm not interested in motion controls.
06:26And Tails says he was trying to check on the other regional offices.
06:29He wants to see if the network of volunteer organization, supply requests, and missing people reports had collapsed.
06:36Because it was all networked through restoration HQ before.
06:40All of it.
06:42And as you can see that was a bad idea.
06:45Logically it wouldn't have collapsed because other people would have taken it on.
06:50And I didn't think restoration HQ would have monopoly on this stuff anyways.
06:54Because that's a ridiculous idea.
06:56And missing people reports would have never stopped being the job of the people it's the job of in real life.
07:02And Vector was handling missing person reports after the metal virus arc.
07:07So Tails is full shit.
07:09I guess it makes sense because he didn't talk to Vector.
07:12Silver arbitrarily decides not to go with Amy.
07:16And instead to try to comfort the diamond cutters that he never officially joined.
07:21Even though they would only feel worse after seeing him.
07:24Because Lanolin would be confronted with how wrong she was.
07:28So good.
07:29It cuts to Tangle sitting on a playground swing of all things in the woods.
07:34Because being childish was seen as the only way she could be made to stand out.
07:39I remember when she first showed up and if she was cool.
07:43Part of why she was cool was that she was being helpful to the game characters.
07:47So she demonstrated that even a regular person could become on the same level as them if she chose to.
07:53And it seems like Double think that Flynn made Amy mature but didn't make Tangle mature.
08:00So is he against that or not?
08:03Someone must have been hired to put that swing in the woods just for Tangle.
08:08Because if this was a real playground there wouldn't just be one swing here.
08:12Surprisingly no one says anything when Silver shows up.
08:16So why hasn't Restoration HQ been rebuilt yet?
08:23Lanolin doesn't tell him he was right all along and gave him a cookie she was saving just for him.
08:28Because she's a piece of shit.
08:30Who has too much pride to apologize even though she deserves to have no pride now.
08:35Silver says nothing's going to change or get fixed like this so someone needs to say something.
08:41And somehow he asks Jewel what the plan is.
08:44Even though he should have already assumed that the plan would have been to rebuild as soon as it was destroyed.
08:49And in fact she literally did order rebuilding to start right away.
08:54In issue 75.
08:56Even if there wasn't enough money.
08:59Right on hand to rebuild it.
09:02Surely some billionaire would have funded it.
09:06Jewel quits and says managing a small museum is much easier than something like the Restoration.
09:12And she was even smart enough to know that from the start.
09:15But just wanted a challenge.
09:17She says it was too much and she was not the right person for the job.
09:22I doubt she'd be written to actually step down.
09:25Aren't people working for the Restoration gonna start scoffing and rolling their eyes at yet another leader but quitting?
09:32They've had so many leaders in such a short time frame.
09:36Jewel explains that the reason she wanted to work for Clutch was because he said it could ease the workload and make things easier.
09:43She says she thought it was a good idea to steer the falling airship to the Restoration.
09:47And she says it was a horrible choice because everything's in ruins.
09:51She never points out that she should have just steered into the ocean.
09:55Now that would have made sense.
09:57Instead to anyone who hasn't figured that out.
10:00It looks like she's selfish because she regrets taking the decision that saved the lives of tons of people in the city.
10:07What were they thinking?
10:09It's good that Tangle used her tail for something again.
10:12And what she uses it for is getting Jewel closer to comfort her.
10:16Although it's weird that she has her in her lap.
10:18That would be uncomfortable.
10:20Tangle flatters her saying that she always liked helping people and says she always told her to learn from her mistakes.
10:28So how is she supposed to learn from this if she and everyone around her are too stupid to figure out that you should have just sent it far into the ocean?
10:37Instead this comforts her.
10:39Jewel thanks her and calls her bestie in this obvious sentimentality pandering to try to emotionally manipulate me.
10:47Laylan blathers on long-windedly that she's looked at things from every angle and starts apologizing again.
10:55Either Flynn didn't know she apologized already which I only say because of how much she's contradicted if she's 75.
11:02Or even Flynn knew she had a shitty YouTuber apology.
11:05It's still the type of apology whose words try to tell the audience to like her though.
11:10It's only concerned with justifying her actions.
11:14She admits she was blinded to mimic.
11:17But of freaking course she doesn't apologize for slamming Whisper into the ground.
11:21Doesn't even look at her the whole time she's saying this.
11:25It's no wonder that again Whisper refuses to look at her.
11:29She went from a YouTuber apology to a corporation apology.
11:33She says she's in no position to be judging anyone's merit.
11:37So she apologizes to all of them.
11:40Now she better never be written to do that ever again.
11:43And I don't trust the other writer not to.
11:46When she's the one who turned her into a tyrant in the first place.
11:49Silver thanks her emotionlessly.
11:52And Laylan says that she has to fix this.
11:55And while she doesn't think she should be the one to restart the restoration.
11:59Even though Jewel quit so she's the only choice we have.
12:04She wants to make Emeraldville great again.
12:07A safe clean place for people to live.
12:10Where's the pollution?
12:12She at least asks if that's reasonable.
12:15Thankfully Tangles ran into lampshade that still seems large scale.
12:20But this is just admitting that she hasn't changed permanently.
12:24She says she doesn't have any experience in town management.
12:28After briefly I guess lying because she says no after saying she somehow picked up pointers in the restoration.
12:35Jewel says they could work together and make Emeraldville great again.
12:39Are any of the people in Emeraldville going to get a vote?
12:43No?
12:44Well anyone would assume there's still a mayor running this place.
12:48And she's just talking about giving it some extra help.
12:51Like starting a charity organization.
12:54Laylan thanks Jewel as the writer makes her sniffle.
12:57Which only comes off as desperately saying please like this character.

13:02She's not a terrible person because she's sad.
13:05No one bad has ever been sad before.
13:08It's just so on the nose.
13:10You don't have to be over the top.
13:12Whispers me proud of her when she says she wants to end Mimic.
13:16But I know it's just wasting my time trying to get my hopes up.
13:20Because it's too obvious from anyone who knows this comic well enough.
13:23That's never going to actually let her get to kill Mimic.
13:27Even though there's no reason the writers couldn't just make another shapeshifter character if that's their issue.
13:33Because every current fan of this comic will just like the new character because they like everything the comic does.
13:39Flynn killed off tons of characters in Archie Sonic and he still has a legion of fans.
13:45I hope that the silent panel of Whisper is supposed to mean that Whisper is actually lying when she says she won't kill Mimic.
13:52I hope that her quotation marks around the word stop also mean that she was lying.
13:59Although, if the writers don't plan to finally kill him off, but they also plan to have them go right up to him,
14:06Would it just be Flynn writing himself into a corner later or making an impossible situation for Evan?
14:13Because there's no possible way Mimic would survive both Whisper and Silver wanting to kill him if they find him.
14:20The second Silver would be close enough to him, he'd grab him with telekinesis.
14:25Anyways, Belle recapped boringly and says that the world doesn't seem so big and scary anymore.
14:32Even though she should know people always still get scared when seeing her.
14:36She says she'll do traveling to help people she meets along the way.
14:41Which is what Sonic should be doing.
14:43While owning a cell phone of course so his friends could call him back home when Eggman starts attacking his town for the day.
14:49Belle wants to take some time for herself away from cataclysmic scenarios.
14:54I doubt she's considered a popular enough character to be given her own subplot.
14:59All she is is nice girl when she's not whining about her past.
15:03But she acts like she's done with it.
15:06It's nice that she says she loves them all and is smart enough to lampshade that they're disaster magnets.
15:11Although it's clearly the villains who deserve the flame instead.
15:15I'm surprised that she said that.
15:18Tango says unhappily that this means the diamond cutters are disbanding in record time.
15:23That's pathetic.
15:25They only had one mission against Eggman.
15:28I'm also relieved because Sonic wasn't a part of them.
15:31Or even Tails and Amy.
15:33That'd be better.
15:34So they're always trying to replace the freedom fighters but failing when they never even needed to have such a group then.
15:40Because Sonic and Tails were always the freedom fighters of the games.
15:43The dictionary doesn't say that a group needs to have more than two people to count as a group.
15:48So Sonic and Tails alone are still Team Sonic.
15:52Which is functionally the same thing as the freedom fighters.
15:56A group only falls apart if most of it disbands.
16:00Whisper gets apologized to and she's happy anyways because this isn't goodbye.
16:05Leland suddenly thanks them for letting her be a part of this when she doesn't deserve it.
16:10Another blatant cynical please like this character signal by the stubborn writers who refuse to learn.
16:17What happened to the flame who wrote Archie entirely in a way that pandered to its complainers when he first started.
16:24And Tanko is all supportive of Sonic getting Surge to join the diamond cutters.
16:29But she doesn't speak a word about Surge and Kit not being a part of this.
16:33Jewel thanks Silver for helping them.
16:36And Silver uses his telekinesis to get a group hug going since he's had character development after generations from getting friends that made him optimistic realistically.
16:46In his first few games he had no reason to want a group hug.
16:50He didn't even have enough friends for it.
16:52He was just in a bad mood in his first games because every day was a battle against a resurrecting monster and he was practically alone.
16:59In the first game he was on a mission to try to kill somebody to save the world.
17:05He was finalist in Rivals.
17:07But there's no proof that's even canon.
17:10Why did Eggman Nega happily work for Eggman in Rush Adventure when the Rivals game said that he hated him his whole life and he tried to destroy the world in front of Eggman?
17:20If the main games contradict a game, it's because they're not canon.
17:24Or it would have been valued enough to not be contradicted.
17:28My point is, it's good writing that Silver's likeable in the comics.
17:32And it's twisted that some people want him to be unlikeable.
17:35Nobody liked him calling Tails a half pint and stealing his rings.
17:39We already have Shadow to be a jerk.
17:42I can't see what's wrong with him being nice in the comics.
17:46He should still have a backbone though.
17:49Sonic says Clean Sweep is still operating and nobody here knows who's running it.
17:54And somehow, nobody mentions just doing a single Google search to instantly find that out.
18:01Instead, Sonic says he's gonna chase a lead.
18:04And he runs in front of Vector's car.
18:06If Vector's planning to follow him, then that means Sonic is forced to go slower than usual.
18:11He could just do the searching separate from them so multiple places are being searched at once.
18:17Why didn't he just ask Vector where to go?
18:20Tails takes off in the plane with Amy behind him while Blaze stands on the wing,
18:25even though I'd expect someone cautious to be in Amy's position because that's safer.
18:30But no, instead she's perceived as female Sonic because of her abilities in the games alone.
18:36Bell has an even more intimidating Motobud pull a wagon at a snail's pace that came out of nowhere.
18:42And I'm just thinking someone would come along and try to smash Motobud.
18:46Why was it given a scary black paint job?
18:49And yet it's got a harmless looking flower on it.
18:53Seriously, I wish it was explained what she has this wagon.
18:57I guess Tails built it for her.
18:59Why rebuild Restoration HQ when you can do this instead?
19:04It'd be nicer to assume Bell saved up for it with a paycheck that the hippie didn't actually have to give her because she's a robot.
19:11I hate that it ends without telling me I was searching Kit found another place to live.
19:16I still don't know whether the annual story is far into the future.
19:20Like he thinks the comic's gonna get cancelled.
19:23This is you by Ian Flynn.
19:25Established that Sonic's gonna slow himself down so that the Chaotix can follow him in a car as he tries to look clutch.
19:32Instead of having one hold on to him and the others hold on to each other and running.
19:37And the Diamond Cutters disband to search for Mimic and be useful making Emeraldville great again.
19:43Because apparently it wasn't before.
19:45Why was the whole issue nothing but talking?
19:49That's not a good Sonic issue.
19:52I'm sure I gave this a pass a couple of times in other comics.
19:56But this comic doesn't have good stories enough for me to give it a pass.
20:01It's not exactly amazing me with this premise.
20:04The story was a little boring because it was nothing but talking.
20:08But reading the Sonic novels have shown me a whole new level of boring.
20:12At least with comics I have pictures seeing my peripheral vision the whole time I'm reading the dialogue.
20:18And there's almost no narration so the pacing's better.
20:21But someone should have cut out the first scene to make room for something happening at the end.
20:26The meat of the issue was the Diamond Cutters being sentimental with each other.
20:30And Lamlin trying to say sorry again.
20:32I don't care.
20:34The thing she decides to go off and do with Jule doesn't sound like a Sonic story.
20:39So I doubt we'll see them in the process of doing that.
20:42The first scene pissed me off by making a mockery out of the Chaotix.
20:47And misinterpreting them to be lawful stupid characters.
20:50Either that or people who would hate Sonic for the dumbest reasons because of his personality.
20:56It's like the writers just watched Sonic X to base their characters off of them.
21:01It was a small part of the issue that Sonic talked them out of without consequences.
21:06But it's a horrible and unacceptable first impression that put me in an especially bad mood for the rest of the issue.
21:12As I was immediately reminded that every character in IDW can lose all their brain cells at any time.
21:19That this isn't a comic that respects characters.
21:22This doesn't deserve to be called a good issue just because it wasn't as bad as the other bad ones.
21:28Oh yeah, when I think of Sonic, I think of characters sitting still talking about what they plan to do with their lives for the whole story.
21:37And Surgeon Kit didn't even appear in it.
21:40The next show was at Sonic X.
21:50The time was shot at the Metal Gear 7, in this case.
