Jon-Eric Sullivan shuts down trade rumors surrounding De'Von Achane, making it clear the Dolphins want him in Miami long term and view him as part of their future. We break down the current state of the Miami Dolphins roster, which is dealing with heavy dead cap hits after cleaning up past mistakes, but is set up to be in a much healthier position next offseason. 00:00It's about to be stupid to take this job and not know what's gone on the last 20-something years.
00:05But he's good, man.
00:07I'll tell you, I watched it last night, and I went, you know what?
00:12I like this.
00:13We got a lot more from it.
00:15But, yeah, now, listen, we'll see.
00:17There's still people, even after John Eric Sullivan said that yesterday, and I'm the same way, man.
00:23I don't know.
00:24I'm made like this.
00:25What did he ask me yesterday?
00:26We're talking about this kind of has to do with conspiracy theories.
00:29And you hear something, and you never, you know.
00:33And I grew up like I had a hook in my mouth my whole life.
00:36I really did.
00:37I was the guy that got hooked in on everything.
00:39He told me something.
00:40I grew up in a small town, and, yeah, okay, and that's the way.
00:45And I just kind of.
00:46And so, you know, I hear John Eric Sullivan say, hey, man, Devon A-Chan, we want to get a
00:52deal done with him.
00:53He is a priority.
00:54He's 24 years old.
00:55What's special about him?
00:57Hey, he can play first down, second down, third down.
00:59He's got a gear nobody else has.
01:01He can catch the ball on the backfield.
01:03You know, listen, we've seen it.
01:06Oh, my God.
01:08He's slowly becoming one of the great third down, third round picks we've ever had in history.
01:13And, hey, look, the two best players on this football team, Brooks on defense and A-Chan on offense last
01:21year.
01:21I hope we're able to keep both of them.
01:23I saw more on the Brooks thing, and hopefully we'll get general manager on either this week or next week,
01:30and we can ask them some of this stuff, more of this stuff about our team and some things going
01:37on.
01:37But listen, man, Mike and Sims did a good job of really, Chris did a good job of asking them
01:45a lot of questions that everybody wants, you know,
01:48and kind of know about with this team.
01:51I know they're the owners' meetings, and it's so funny because people are owners, oh, they're going to go over
01:55the rules and what's going on
01:57and what are they going to do next.
01:59And you had a pretty good idea of some of those topics that you'll be hearing about today and tomorrow,
02:03although today the coaches are going to talk.
02:05Yesterday was general manager day, and we'll get into some of the NFL news as well here.
02:11But a lot of it was, hey, man, and the rebuild.
02:16Are we in a rebuild?
02:17Are we like, I mean, because people are putting out if we had a starting line.
02:21Yeah, if we put a starting lineup today out, we're the worst team in football.
02:26If you just look at the way it looks right now, we'd start two free agent receivers that we just
02:33got on the cheap.
02:36We signed a couple of real cheap tight ends.
02:38Yeah, our roster would not, like, knock your socks off.
02:42I get it.
02:43And, you know, we need to upgrade a whole bunch of positions.
02:47I totally agree.
02:49But he broke down everything, and we'll have more, like I said, John Eric Sullivan talking about that.
02:55Salary cap, why do we do?
02:57Some of this stuff, man, is common sense now.
02:59He was asked the questions because you still have to ask them because you don't want to hear it from.
03:03And you don't want to hear us say it.
03:05You want to hear it from the horse's mouth, the guy that actually did it and said, you're gone, you're
03:10gone, you're gone.
03:11We're going to let you go.
03:12We're going to let you go.
03:13We're going to trade you, and we're going to eat it.
03:17I mean, man, we got more money in a cemetery than we have to play with right now for this
03:23team.
03:23You've seen it.
03:24You knew the situation.
03:26You had to pay off your debt.
03:28And that's John Eric Sullivan decided to do it.
03:32We're going to be in great shape next year.
03:34He does believe.
03:35And if you do it the Green Bay way, Green Bay has been pushing draft, draft, draft.
03:41Even when free agency was super popular, Green Bay is still draft, draft, draft, draft, draft, draft.
03:48And you can look at their roster, and we'll have more news, too, on the Green Bay Packers.
03:53And a player Miami Dolphins might be looking at, looking to upgrade their team on the cheap with some guys
04:00that can come in and help them.
04:02And so we'll tell you about one wide receiver that the Miami Dolphins would definitely be taking a look at.
04:09There's no question about it.
04:10It's just a matter of what they may want for it.
04:13Hey, not to tease you a little bit with that, and Malik Willis news.
04:18We're going to get into that as well, just on how important.
04:21So it's really interesting with the Malik Willis thing.
04:26I know a lot of you are going, we need competition everywhere.
04:30Like when I was a kid, there was competition.
04:32And I go, yeah, well, listen, when Malik Willis got that contract, we can talk.
04:37I've been very honest about this.
04:40You can talk about when he got that contract for two years, even though it's not like he's the wealthiest
04:45quarterback in the league right now.
04:48But he got, for what he's done, he got paid a lot of money.
04:51What he's done so far in the league.
04:54He's a starting quarterback.
04:56Quinn's yours.
04:57I know he talked and he said, Hey, we're going to have open competition, no matter what you make and
05:01all that stuff.
05:02But, but somebody's got to line up first and it's going to be Malik Willis.
05:06And, oh, by the way, he was real careful on the hat.
05:10He said it because he didn't want to hurt anybody's feelings.
05:12But, yeah, Malik knew about Jalen Waddle.
05:16We did give him a heads up as a quarterback that Jalen Waddle was going to get traded.
05:22So he knew he was aboard.
05:24We didn't ambush him.
05:26We, we, by the way, just awareness for a GM on things you have to do.
05:32Look, we can do 100% my way or the highway, but that, that's not the way you do it.
05:37I, I don't know what it was like with shoes.
05:39I couldn't answer that when she was getting ready to trade somebody, if he felt he needed to tell the
05:44key guys or not.
05:45I, I don't know if he would do that.
05:47It seems to me if it was Bob Greasy or Dan Marino, he'd tell him, Hey, I got to get
05:51rid of this guy.
05:52I know you like him, but I get too much for him and, and, and give them, give them a
05:57heads up.
05:57And Bob and Danny would say whether they liked it or not, if they were aboard, but you know, they,
06:03they would do it.
06:04I'm guessing go along with it, but, uh, man, you, you just, you look at this.
06:11So Malik Willis is, um, is the guy, but I just thought there were a lot of interesting things.
06:18Very careful.
06:19We talked about it.
06:20Very respectful to the cold weather problems.
06:24Our teams, uh, in the past, it didn't play well in the cold weather.
06:29Didn't play well against good teams or, or sometimes bad teams in a cold weather.
06:33Didn't really matter, but he didn't take shots.
06:36He was like, just very calculated in his comments.
06:40Very careful not to take shots like we do.
06:44Cause we have no class, but, um, just to, to, you know, Chris did a crappy job.
06:51He can't say that.
06:53Can you imagine?
06:53He said that it'd be one thing.
06:55People expect that out of me now, but boy, they said that.
06:59And he said it, listen, man, the guy talked about being a GM and, you know, being at these
07:05meetings with all the other GMs.
07:07Now, I mean, a lot of work's going to get done at this thing while, while he's there.
07:11And it's only a couple of days.
07:12Hell, they'll be coming home probably tomorrow.
07:15But, uh, yeah, I really don't need to hear that whole cold weather thing anymore though,
07:19man.
07:19That is so stupid.
07:21Well, he's going to talk.
07:23He did talk about, I know, I know, but man, that's one.
07:26I really hope we don't have to hear about anymore.
07:28Right.
07:29I thought he, I thought he broke it down and you know, listen, man, whoever said it yesterday,
07:34you know, when the dolphins had that really good offensive line and they went undefeated,
07:41they beat everybody everywhere.
07:43It didn't matter.
07:44Zonk Zonk ran the same as whether it was 200 degrees out or whether it was 20 below zero.
07:50Zonk was trying to run you over.
07:52So anyway, it's not something you hear about a lot at the NFL level, but we have our college
07:57game.
07:57I get it.
07:58You know, you got a lot of guys that are from that area, but the NFL team should have
08:03guys from all over the place.
08:05Yes.
08:06Yeah.
08:07There's a lot of guys.
08:08It shouldn't be like a shock to the whole team when they, you know, not everybody grew
08:12up in Southern California, Arizona, or South Florida.
08:15You're right.
08:15There, there are guys have grown up in very cold weather areas and seen snow and enjoyed
08:20it and played in, and his kids and mother had to tell him, put a jacket on.
08:24I don't care if the sun's out, it's freezing out.
08:26What are you doing anyway?
08:28Hey, listen, man, we got a lot of stuff to get.
