There has been anonymous criticism aimed at GM Jon-Eric Sullivan, including questions about the Jaylen Waddle trade. Joe pushes back, noting that Sullivan inherited a financial mess and has been working hard to clean it up. With the Dolphins in a full rebuild and still paying several players and coaches for other teams, Joe appreciates that Sullivan is taking full ownership of his decisions, while acknowledging the frustration of fans after 25 years without a playoff win.

00:00That sounds good.
00:01So, anyway, we got John Eric Sullivan.
00:02I guess we have unnamed sources in the NFL criticizing his moves
00:09from taking Malik Willis and not going with Quinn Hewers.
00:14So, this is all over the place now.
00:16Why didn't he just take a full cap hit this year on two instead of split it up?
00:23I'm guessing they thought it out what was best for the team.
00:26I don't think he does anything without thinking at all.
00:30And coming into this disaster of a mess here financially that he's got to clean up.
00:36And then the third one was he didn't get enough for Waddle.
00:39I love all these, whoever it is on these other teams that would never put their name on this
00:44that are coming out talking about these things with John Eric Sullivan.
00:50So, again, he really likes Malik Willis, he and his head coach.
00:55Second of all, he decided to split it up.
00:57They're still going to have a ton of money for next year, even with the second part of the Tua
01:03cap hit that they'll put on it.
01:05And the Waddle thing, hey, listen, it's great for them, Denver, and I'm a Waddle fan.
01:11Nothing bad to say about him.
01:14Number one is I don't know if he asked to be traded.
01:17There's a lot of people that have speculated that his agent did say he wanted out.
01:21But the second part of this is that they got a pretty good offer with a first-round pick, late
01:28first-round pick, 30th,
01:30and a third-round pick, which we like first, second, and third-round picks on this team.
01:35That's big.
01:38So, and John Eric Sullivan said, hey, man, it's going to be a good trade, but I got a hit
01:45on the first- and third-round picks.
01:46It was so refreshing to hear.
01:49He didn't, like, go around it.
01:51He just said, yeah, it's my job now to make sure I get a good first-round pick and a
01:56good third-round pick
01:57so that we can get our first draft class going and then make this thing fair
02:06so we don't get beat up in this trade.
02:09Hey, man, John Eric Sullivan said so well, said so nicely.
02:14I agree.
02:17Everybody just kind of forgets about this, man.
02:19When they take shots at John Eric Sullivan, he came into this mess.
02:23No matter how he handled this, there were going to be people taking shots at him.
02:28He came into a frigging financial mess.
02:36Not his fault.
02:37Came here.
02:38He knew what he was getting into, by the way.
02:40He got the green light from all the people running the team, owner, everybody else,
02:46to do whatever you have to do to clean it up, and he did.
02:50He got rid of a lot of people.
02:52Some of them we didn't even know.
02:55I didn't know until recently.
02:56They got rid of a lot of people.
02:59And he's getting his own people in there, and he is zoned in on this draft.
03:04And this is where we are.
03:06Yeah.
03:06People go, oh, that roster's terrible.
03:08Yeah, right now roster's not great.
03:09I agree.
03:10You're right.
03:12Again, you know the deal, though.
03:13Everybody in the league knows the deal.
03:14So when these guys take shots at John Eric Sullivan, I just, I'm going, man.
03:20And then the other stuff, bringing in the president of the team and all that stuff.
03:24Look at John Eric Sullivan's running the show.
03:27John Eric Sullivan is running the show.
03:29He's not looking around.
03:33I would like to think that everybody's on the same page on this one and that there's no backstabbing and
03:39everybody's going to do it the right way.
03:43And they like Malik Willis.
03:45And I love the fact that they've told you a zillion times they like Malik Willis a lot.
03:50They know him and they like him.
03:52And they think he's got a chance to be the quarterback.
03:56And others go, oh, I saw him in Tennessee.
03:58He's not that guy.
03:59And he, yeah, what are you guys doing?
04:01And then on top of that, when we gave him 23, we didn't give him 54 million.
04:05And we gave him 23 million for two years.
04:09That's it.
04:10That's it.
04:14So go get him, John Eric Sullivan, man.
04:16I'm sure he knows this comes with the job.
04:19And he also understands down here that we're in a serious drought of winning.
04:26I'm guessing he knew that when he took the job.
04:28Somebody, we don't have a day where somebody doesn't bring up, we haven't won a playoff game in 25 or
04:3226.
04:33I don't even know what's the number.
04:34I don't know if it's 25 or 26.
04:36Didn't they used to have like a clock or a calendar or something on the wall there?
04:40That's right.
04:40Mike had that.
04:41Mike had that.
04:41Do you think he took that with him?
04:45I don't know.
04:47Right?
04:48Didn't they?
04:48They had something on the wall or something.
04:54You're a bad guy.
04:57That's funny.
04:58That was funny.
04:59That was very.
05:02It's like that sign.
05:03Like, you know, a certain amount of days without incident.
05:05Like, Hey, all I know is, Hey, we're not only nice to players and we're going to pay most of
05:11Tua's salary this year to play for the Atlanta Falcons.
05:14We're such good guys.
05:16The highest paid offensive coordinator right now in football is with the Chargers and we're going to pay him 19
05:22million the next two years.
05:24That's when, you know, Hey, whatever, we're helping everywhere, helping you get your offense.
05:27We're helping your quarterback.
05:28Maybe in the whole deal.
05:30I still think there's a lot of intrigue around this season.
05:33That could have been a total mess, right?
05:36This thing could have been a, just a bottom out season.
05:38Now you got a quarterback that maybe he's the guy.
05:43These guys seem to believe it.
05:45And they were out of there in an organization that was, that is consistently good.
05:49What do you, what do you have?
05:51So me, I'm not trying to sell.
05:52Anyway, I don't care.
05:53But I had these guys, the last guy, last three guys standing yesterday at a Bose restaurant, man.
05:59The food was great yesterday.
06:01Um, the, the last three guys are there and they go, Hey, what do you think of these guys?
06:06Last question I got.
06:08And then, I mean, we talked for 20 minutes.
06:10I said, they're good.
06:11Yeah.
06:11I like them.
06:12And they go, you know, what's nice, man.
06:13I feel like he's talking to me directly.
06:15And I go, yeah, I feel that, that same way.
06:18I, I, he, he kind of tells you what's going on, how he feels about it.
06:22He's not hiding stuff from fans.
06:24He says, Hey man, we're going to try to win games with what we have.
06:28And hopefully our guys develop quickly.
06:30It's going to be a young team and it's going to be a cheap team of guys that are trying
06:34to get second chance.
06:35They've been role players, didn't have as big a role last year, get their careers going.
06:40And, uh, we're just throwing everybody in there together to compete, get better and win some frigging games.
06:45And, uh, the biggest thing is get enough around Malik Willis to, uh, to give him a chance to have
06:51some success.
06:52And that, and that may not be in wins.
06:55It may not be, but it's just too early, man.
06:59They've been here a month.
07:00Yeah.
07:01It's just too early.
07:02Like people ask you about them.
07:04Like, yeah, they're, they're straight shooters.
07:06A good guy.
07:07We've seen plenty of interviews.
07:08We've met them, but I mean, let's give them a shot.
07:11By the way, get into a training camp.
07:13Our general manager has been out there in front more in the first month than the other guy was in
07:18nine years.
07:19Well, I mean, for good reason, Chris didn't exactly nail those media availabilities.
07:26So, you know, the day after his press conferences were usually a bloodbath.
07:31You're, you may not like everything.
07:32John Eric Sullivan has to say, you may not like everybody takes, but he's taking ownership of everything, man.
07:38And he's telling you that, Hey, the Waddle trade is good for them.
07:41We know that because Waddle is a good player.
07:44He didn't, he didn't hide.
07:46He hasn't bad mouthed anybody.
07:47I do the bad mouth in form.
07:49He doesn't bad mouth anybody.
07:50And he, um, and he said, Hey, for this trade to be a good one, I got hit on one
07:54and three.
07:56Man, that's seems reasonable.
07:58Yeah.
07:59How about that?
08:00For a guy that I'm guessing did not want to be here.
08:03There's a chance that, uh, Waddle did not want to be here.
08:06That is true.
08:08There, there's a chance.
08:09And let me ask you played on, would you rather be at the situations at now or this one?
08:14Oh no.
08:14He's where he wants to be.
08:16Yeah.
08:16Matter of fact, he not, he, he almost handpicked it because he's with his best friend.
08:22He's with Sertan jr.
08:24Roommates and been together for a long time, going back to Alabama.
08:29They'll be roommates right away.
08:30And he's going to a really good team.
08:32I think they have the best all around team in, uh, in the AFC, not even close.
08:37I think they're clearly the best team in AFC.
08:40I'm guessing that a chant told them that he wants to be here at this point.
08:45Right.
08:45The way that they talked about him at the owner's meetings, he didn't say a lot of nice things.
08:50No question.
08:50They made, they made it pretty clear that he was going to be here.
08:53Right.
08:54They did.
08:54They did.
08:55Hey, you ready for a little Paul Maurice Panthers head coach.
08:59Coach got another good win last night.
09:01Boy, I'll tell you what, I'm sure coach thought he was coming on today and going to say, we're
09:04out of it.
09:05And yeah, we're just banged up and boy, I'll tell you what, they're a little feisty right
09:09now, getting off to great starts.
09:11These last two games and getting wins, man.
09:13Anyway, we'll talk to him.
09:14We got a lot of stuff to talk to coach.
09:15I hope he's in a good mood today.
09:16That sometimes a two to one win will put you in a good mood late in the year.
09:20By the way, I want to talk about Michael.
09:22Go.
