00:00the dolphins they got the annual meetings going on right now hobnobbery what goes on in these
00:04meetings other than hobnobbery so there'll be a lot of like max crosby talk because you're face
00:13to face um there'll be maybe some talk about other players because you're face to face and and so
00:22keep in mind you can work deals everybody's there so you don't have to say okay well let me call
00:29him or whatever you're there so you know the draft is coming up you have these meetings
00:35maybe you can work something out maybe you can get some feelers on certain players
00:40um the problem is max crosby ain't getting two first rounders no not anymore well apparently
00:48they're they're gonna be moving on with they're gonna go and it's all harmonious now like they're
00:56just gonna say no you're a raider for now yeah we'll see i mean it's crazy like i'm still a
01:06little
01:06bit lost on how this went down because if you trade for a guy that just had knee surgery of
01:16course you
01:17know he's not gonna pass his physical right so like his side of it too his side of it too
01:25was like they
01:25were really like weird when he got there that means they already had to deal with trey hendrickson
01:29yeah like they were they were super awkward around it so that's probably part of the reason why he
01:33doesn't want to leave the raiders anymore because at least you're with the person you know you know
01:37right but but i'm almost i'm almost positive that they were were working two deals at one time to see
01:45which one they could get sure and right when they agreed to that one the other one came through
01:52and then they realized they have to give up no first round no first two first round picks yep
01:57fail him on the physical but you knew that super weird right that's like if if when brooklyn
02:04uh traded for kd and then he comes in and they say now we change our mind you know he
02:10wasn't playing
02:10lemon law them right so i don't know like that's almost as egregious as anything else that the fact
02:20that i mean i guess you could do that but you already knew before i even sent max crosby and
02:27say
02:27hey he just had knee surgery you're giving him a physical you know what the physical is going to be
02:34like
02:35let's not you know play games so yesterday uh jeff halfley speaking right now to reporters he's at
02:45uh he's doing the nfc coaches spoke yesterday today the uh afc coaches but john eric sullivan did speak
02:51to uh the reporters out there the local beat guys who are out there and um the biggest news out
02:58of all
02:58of it i would say out of yesterday was he was flat out saying we want to get a deal
03:02done with devon
03:03a-chan like we're we're not looking to move them we don't want to move them he said uh my
03:07job is to
03:08always listen but a-chan is very very important piece for what we want to do moving forward he's
03:11a building block it's a priority for us to get a deal done with him in the coming weeks and
03:15months
03:16nobody is untouchable in this business because you never know who is on the other side of the phone
03:20or what they want to offer but there is zero effort on my end to move devon a-chan um
03:26he like
03:29devon a-chan is in elite company when you think of backs that could do what he does yeah and
03:35and so
03:35from from that standpoint with his speed and and and his versatility he gives you you know a chance
03:47to to you know have a special player and use him to to to kind of win and he's young
03:55you know the only thing that i would say is is that like you better have somebody else too because
04:04if you run him into the ground then when you finally get decent or you start turning it around
04:08because as of right now next year they're gonna have like 140 million in cap space yes and so what
04:17you want want to make sure is is that you don't run him into the ground and then when it's
04:22time when
04:23you have reached a place where he can actually be a game changer because you built your team up
04:28yeah you don't want him to be beat up no for sure yeah you definitely don't want to feel like
04:33you're
04:33uh you're gonna because he is tiny where he's not a big dude nope this was uh this was sally
04:41yesterday he uh sat down with uh pro football talk florio and that uh hell doiler chris sims although
04:47he did make points um this is what he had to say on the devon a chant thing on pft
04:53yesterday
04:55when asked about the situation a lot of key veteran players with recognizable names gone
04:59devon a chance still there there's been some reporting there's been some discussion is he
05:03available is he not available he's in the last year of his contract where do things stand if
05:07there's a fan out that it's got his or her devon a chant jersey and wants to know am i
05:11going to be
05:11wearing it this year what would you say to that yeah it's important to us to get a deal done
05:15with
05:15with devon we he is a difference maker as a player um we are in talks we're trying to get
05:22that done it's a priority to us um he is a building block for us as we move forward what
05:27about him
05:28makes you believe that i think he's a rare player his his feet his acceleration his ability to play
05:34on all three downs he's a very good pass catcher um he reminds me a lot of a guy that
05:40i played with
05:40in high school by the name of warwick dunn who went on to have a marvelous career maybe maybe it's
05:44look at you mr louisiana maybe it's the 28 that he wears on his back which wore forever and uh
05:49but
05:50i do i see a lot of similarities now now work did it for a decade and neither one of
05:55them are big guys
05:55so that i think and i think if devon was sitting here he'd be the one to tell you like
05:59i think that's
05:59going to be the question for him can he be as durable as work was over time but he's a
06:05marvelous
06:06player we want to move forward with him it's important to us to get a deal done he's part of
06:10the he's
06:10part of the future for us all right there you go john eric sullivan sully i mean that was actually
06:19you know like you know how you can say a lot of something and say nothing at the same time
06:27when he says all that about divine hm and he says here's the thing i'm not initiating any
06:38trade requests but i'll listen right which means that tomorrow somebody could offer him a ridiculous
06:45amount of nature and scum yeah but like that's the thing is like what are we at right now with
06:49running backs it's an interesting thing of like people are valuing them more but like what's the
06:54price that he would have to get to give him up right and that's that's the problem when you trade
06:59a running back you don't really get the value of the running back because of how people so it's almost
07:06better to keep them especially if he's he's probably one of four or five guys in the league that does
07:12what he does as far as receiving and and and having that kind of game-changing speed well that was
07:20the
07:20thing that was interesting because he talked about the waddle thing too and he was saying like
07:25he you know that you know waddle's 27 and if waddle has a good year like waddle's deal isn't
07:32egregious right now like it maybe was at the time he was like oh he was on the top but
07:36like the way
07:37running back the way wide receiver contracts have gone it wasn't that terrible but if he had a big year
07:42which if he's the only guy here catching passes he probably would then he's gonna come back and want
07:47another monster deal and then you're like oh man like now we have to now we have to re-tie
07:54up
07:54jalen waddle and he also was making the point about you know i guess from his philosophy like
08:00yeah the the wide receiver market's not going down it's crazy money for guys who will maybe touch the
08:07ball seven to ten times a game where a running back's gonna touch it 25 times a game in different
08:13ways for them so i think that they're trying to find some value in that and that's why you know
08:18the whole the it's not it's not crazy to see why the waddle thing ended the way is it crazy
08:24with what
08:24to be as opposed to the where the a chance stuff is you find it crazy with what you just
08:30said
08:32that you could get more for a guy that only touches it seven to ten times yeah isn't that isn't
08:39that crazy like just from a value perspective it seems like you could get more value from a guy who
08:48has more of an impact on an every down situation versus a guy who you're throwing to or designing
08:57plays for right that's a it's a weird thing especially when you have kind of the same like
09:04if you were to knock flaws of jaylen waddle you would put some of the same stuff that you would
09:09with a chance of like can he hold up can he physically be the number one and all that type
09:14of stuff so not only did this guy get the ball more but you have maybe some similar questions and
09:21he's younger you know he's three years younger than him i would say i would say but but but in
09:27in
09:28fairness um you're looking at waddle who'll probably be able to play longer um but here's what i would
09:35say i don't know how revealing this is but when i say waddle had every opportunity when tyreek was out
09:50to show that he could be that number one and really didn't you think they looked at that situation and
09:58said if we can get you know a substantial haul for him he's proven that he can't be our number
10:07one
10:09now there's a lot of reasons behind that including quarterback right but
10:16you think maybe they had that feeling like hey you sit in the room and you go can waddle be
10:21our
10:22number one yeah for sure especially can he be our number one and then all of a sudden we got
10:27to pay
10:28him like the best receiver in the league next year correct you know because you know it's it's not like
10:33if he did have a monster year it's not like waddle's like hey we're good guys we don't have to
10:38i don't
10:38i don't need to get paid like a top five receiver we're all right right you know i mean i
10:43guess the
10:43other side of that would have been whoa waddle played like a top five receiver but that's not
10:47always how it works in the market it's usually just who's available and what's a or you know
10:51kenny kenny get what uh you know kenny get what he feels like he deserves in that case so i
10:57get it i
10:57i don't think it's that crazy that they moved on from him i get you know waddle was a fan
11:01favorite
11:01he was a great dude but he was he was really he waddle is one of those guys that if
11:09you're new to
11:09the organization and you have a conversation with all the players he's a guy that could get
11:15your message to the team right he's a guy that's not going to give you he's going to be a
11:20company
11:20guy he's not going to give you a hard time he's not going to give you you know problems he's
11:25going
11:25to be able to you know answer questions while you're going through the struggle
11:32monka buddha says uh oh the horror imagine fearing your player having a good year this is
11:36why the nfl sucks now can't pay players they're worth i don't disagree with a lot of that i hate
11:41salary cap stuff like that because it's like if you do draft well you almost get bit in the ass
11:45with
11:45it but that's what that's what happened and one of the biggest problems i had with chris greer
11:51is that one of the ways you show how well you draft is to have your drafted players on your
11:58team
11:59and there was a number of guys that you drafted that couldn't that you couldn't afford them
12:05that means you you did a good job but you don't have anything to show for it because you let
12:10them
12:10look
