03:08Well, I think that John Eric Sullivan and Jeff Halfley believe they've got a very good core for their offense
03:17with Malik Willis and Devon HN.
03:19And I was submitting to Crowder and Solana that I don't think they feel like they're auditioning Malik Willis.
03:27Well, obviously they are, but I don't feel like they think they're auditioning him.
03:32I feel like they think they've got the right quarterback.
03:35And I think now they believe they've got the right running back.
03:39Hopefully the offensive line is good.
03:41I'm not suggesting that they're planning on winning anything much this season, but I think they think they've got a
03:48pretty good core to build around for the offense.

03:53Well, at the same time, noting that, all right, in a season from now, if they decide, all right, maybe
04:00it's better for us if we want to trade Devon HN, that's not an untradeable contract for them either.
04:06And if they decide after two seasons, all right, like we notice the decline here.
04:11We don't want to go spending $16 million back to back for two more seasons on a running back.
04:17They can get out of the contract then too.
04:19So I think you, you keep your best player happy by rewarding him for his performance and how much they
04:25use him.
04:26And yeah, to your point, you don't give Malik Willis the money they gave him.
04:32If they didn't think he was someone that they could have a future with, right?
04:36Like regardless of whether or not he actually turns out to be that, they clearly think that he can be
04:44the guy to lead them through this rebuild and come out the other side as their franchise quarterback.
04:49And they're also betting, which again, that contract for Malik Willis is not hamstringing their future either, where if he's
04:57bad, then they get higher draft picks and they address that position through the draft in the coming seasons.
05:04I don't really see a downside in the A-Chan contract or the Willis contract.
05:09And again, all of this, this season is going to be about the process and what does it look like?
05:18Is this an embarrassment or is this something that is competitive week in and week out for the most part,
05:25even knowing this is probably not a team that's going to win more than five ish games.
05:30And speaking of A-Chan and Jeremiah Love, I was listening this morning to Omar was kind of breaking down
05:36the contract.
05:36Jeremiah Love, we don't, he was great at Notre Dame, but we don't know a pair of what he's going
05:40to be in the league.
05:41But the other guys that A-Chan is paid like is Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey.
05:47Now, is he on that level?
05:49Are we in love with A-Chan or is A-Chan on the level of a Christian McCaffrey, Saquon Barkley
05:54type running back?
05:55Well, first of all, this poor Jeremiah Love, I mean, he can go on to have an incredible all pro
06:01career with the Cardinals.
06:03And it's still a horrific pick at number three.
06:06Overall, they're paying him double the guaranteed money that Devon A-Chan is getting.
06:11And he hasn't played a snap in the NFL.
06:13And again, he can turn out to be a good player, but it is a boneheaded pick at number three.
06:19I think, and Bill Barnwell brought this up on his, in a tweet earlier today.
06:25I don't think that that framing Crowder is the way to look at this.
06:29I think the framing is Jameer Gibbs and Bijon Robinson are both due contract extensions this offseason.
06:37They're going to get paid more than Devon A-Chan, and that's going to reset the market.
06:41And to what Bill Barnwell said was, look, the Dolphins probably just saved themselves a decent bit of money by
06:48getting this extension done now before Jameer Gibbs and before Bijon Robinson get their extensions and reset the market again.
06:57I think the way that the Dolphins used Devon A-Chan in the passing game, of course, in the running
07:03game, I think to them makes him worth what guys like McCaffrey and Barkley make.
07:10But he's still not making as much as them.
07:12He's just closing in on what those guys make.
07:15So I understand what Omar's general point was, but for what he means to the Dolphins, I think that this
07:22contract is certainly worth it, especially when you compare it to what Jameer Gibbs and what Bijon Robinson are both
07:28about to get.
07:28But I thought there was going to be maybe a change of course with how the running back was utilized
07:35under Jeff Halfley.
07:37They're trying to build a powerful offensive line.
07:40They want to build in the trenches first.
07:42And I just assumed, DePell, maybe they'd be transitioning into more of a power back.
07:47Does this almost solidify the idea that they're still going to use Devon A-Chan in those ways that you
07:53just mentioned, based on the amount of money that they gave them?
07:57Certainly.
07:57I don't think that they can't be that power running team with Devon A-Chan.
08:03He is capable of running.
08:04I know he's obviously excelled in a zone run scheme with Mike McDaniel before this, but I don't think that
08:11that necessarily makes it so that they're not going to be a power team,
08:15a team that can line up and get two yards, three yards when they need to.
08:19We know that has been one of their biggest issues over the last four seasons, since really Lusaka Polite was
08:26a Dolphin.
