00:22How are you guys doing? Well, we're doing great. I saw today that Kirk Cousins is signing with
00:27the Raiders. And my first reaction is, well, for the Dolphins standpoint, should they have given
00:34Malik Willis a three-year deal with 45 million guaranteed or just brought in Kirk Cousins on
00:39a season that I really doesn't think have much direction? I love this deal for Kirk Cousins
00:47because it proves that if you've got a good agent and you're very business savvy, you can always get
00:52the money. Now, however, this is really the fakest deal I've ever seen in NFL history. And I always
01:00tell people the only way to tell a contract in the NFL is count the guaranteed money. Once the
01:06guaranteed money is over, so is the contract. And generally, there are exceptions to that.
01:11Christian Wilkins guy had like $34 million in guaranteed money and the Raiders tried to escape
01:15it and got out of it and pretended like they never gave it. And then slandered his name, which is
01:21a whole
01:21different subject. This is love. I love Kirk. I've always loved Kirk. Is he passes prime? Absolutely.
01:30But I'm glad that he's showing. I've always said if NFL quarterbacks followed Kirk Cousins lead
01:41when he got his first fully guaranteed contract from the Minnesota Vikings after sitting on a franchise
01:47tag for two years, if Kyler Murray followed him, if Russell Wilson followed him,
01:51the only one who followed him was Deshaun Watson. But if every quarterback had followed him,
01:55we would probably be sitting at NFL players, not just quarterbacks getting fully guaranteed contracts
02:03at this point. But nobody followed Kirk Cousins lead. And it's disappointing, but it's part of the
02:09mechanism that the NFL, these owners keep pimping these players to, you know, take 40 cents on the
02:15dollar. Then they get these fake money contracts. Then they cut them. Then they want to 40 cents on
02:21the dollar as a rookie player. Then you finally get your big deal. Only two, maybe three years of it
02:28is guaranteed. They're going to cut you after that. Then when you're 30, they're like, ah, you can only
02:32play on 70 cents a dollar. It's a wicked, ridiculous system. But Kirk Cousins proves you can win no matter
02:38what. What should Kirk Cousins do for his agent, Omar? Does he build a statue outside his mansion
02:45with Mike McCartney? Like does he, I don't know. Like what he has to do. I actually know Mike and
02:53great guy. I I've known him for years and he's got other clients and he, he, he, he's a good
03:01agent.
03:01He's a good agent. He really has a good eye for quarterbacks. Um, and that's all Kirk Cousins,
03:07man, that, that don't, that nobody's forcing the Raiders to give him that money. Nobody's
03:12forcing the Raiders to give him that fake contract that looks all great and good, but realistically
03:17all of it's going to be paid by the Falcons anyway. Like you're, you know, and he knows the
03:24situation. I'm, I'm, I was always wondering what held up Kirk Cousins getting the deal because I
03:29thought he was probably the third best quarterback on the market in, in free agency.
03:33I had a Blake Willis. Um, so it, it, it's, you know, but now I see, you know, he, he,
03:42he's still,
03:42he's still looking for a real legitimate opportunity to compete as a starter.
03:46How should Dolphins fans feel Omar Kelly about Malik Willis? Cause like I'm in the standpoint
03:52of he's there, it's 45 million guaranteed, but this team's probably picking in the top five
03:56next year and taking a quarterback in the first round next year. Who said that, uh, um, John Eric
04:02Sullivan said, I might take a quarterback this year. You won't understand it, but that's what's
04:06in the best interest of this franchise. And when you've got 11 draft picks, yeah. If a quarterback
04:11is there that you like, and you have one of 11 selections, take the quarterback. Yes. This team
04:17has a bunch of needs. They've got needs everywhere on this team. And if they trade Devon HN, which I
04:22still think is a possibility, even if, you know, as long as they don't have a contract extension
04:28done before day two of the draft, Devon HN is still on the trading block from my standpoint,
04:33and nothing is going to change until there's a contract. Cause do you really think Devon HN
04:38wants to be here right now playing for this team? Just answer that question with an honest answer.
04:44And if the answer is no, I'll let you know he will for a bag, a big old fat bag.
04:51Um, and his leverage
04:53goes away once the draft is over. So, um, we, we shall see on that, but Malik Willis is a
05:02talented
05:03project that this coaching staff and this GM have correlated to a young drafted player in this draft.
05:12And they don't know if he's going to pan out and become an elite quarterback. What they love about
05:20him is his athleticism, his live arm and his body build, which is the same size as Tua, but built
05:26a little bit differently, more muscular at the top where Tua is stronger at his base. Um, what does
05:32that mean? I have absolutely no idea. Does it mean you're looking at a franchise quarterback? I have no
05:37clue, but I will say this. I love the fact that John Eric Sullivan at the owner's meeting basically
05:42said, hold up now. Don't think I won't take a quarterback because I will. And then, you know,
05:47subsequently have invited a couple in for 30 visits and taking a quarterback now would be a wise
05:55approach from this standpoint. For me as the historian columnist person who throws stones at the
06:03organization. Cause I'm paid to throw stones at the organization. I will allow you only to take
06:10two quarterbacks. If you are a new regime, you only get two rolls of the dice. This is like,
06:16this is like Vegas. You only get two. I'm not giving you three. It's not ATM. You could get three.
06:21Maybe you never know that. I've done that before. If I give you two rolls of the dice and you
06:27roll
06:28snake eyes, both times time for a new roller. Okay. However, I will say this Malik Willis counts as a
06:36single roll of the dice. If you do by chance, take a quarterback in this draft, I shall not count
06:44that
06:44roll of the dice. I shall include it in the Malik Willis roll of the dice and we'll allow you
06:49to take
06:50another roll of the dice at a later time. Now you could control your rolls of the dices, but that's
06:55two rolls of the dices. They're two different players. It happened in the same year. I can't,
07:00I can't, it's not fair for me to count. I give you your two rolls right in year one. Come
07:06on.
07:07Now, now, now here's the thing at 30. I don't think Ty Simpson is going to be there, but at
07:1211,
07:13I don't think he's going to be there past Arizona, but continue. Go ahead.
07:18But, but what I'm saying is, Oh, you think he's going third overall?
07:22What is Arizona doing? I think they're either trading back or they're taking an
07:26offensive lineman. Francis Malinoa. There is no way Arizona's taking Jacoby
07:30Verset as their starting quarterback for an entire season and then falling it back with
07:34a plan of, of Gardner Minshew. Like, are you either you're tanking, which I think they
07:41are. They probably are. Or you plan to take a quarterback now? Either way, I'm good,
07:48but yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm not taking Ty Simpson at 11. If he falls to 30, I'm probably not even
07:55taking him there. Um, I, I, I, I, I would feel comfortable with other quarterbacks in the later
08:01rounds and it's, it doesn't count. I'm giving you a freebie. You have a, you officially have a freebie
08:08to take a quarterback. You better, you better take it now. And the one thing I hate about this
08:14organization. And when I say, Hey, I'm, I'm not mincing my words. I've covered this team for 18
08:19seasons. And the one thing that I have always known and always acknowledged about this organization is
08:25they are terrified to death of legitimate, real quarterback competition. Never allow it will not
08:32allow it. It's happened one time for one week in 2012 when David Garrard got hurt and Matt Moore
08:39took on Ryan Tannehill lost the battle. Cause he actually participated in a training,
08:45participate in the exhibition game and it was hailing on him while he played. And that was the
08:51end of the competition. They gave it to the rookie, even though he hadn't earned it to it had never
08:56earned it. Stop giving the starting job for the Miami dolphins quarterback position to people who have
09:05not earned it. Make them earn it. This is where the two rolls of the dice gets tricky because all
09:13Sully who's at the table with the die has to do is convince his rich billionaire friend to buy the
09:20casino. And then he gets unlimited rolls of the die. And, uh, that that's all it takes with Steven
09:25Ross. I hope it's different this year, Omar. You got a new Steve Ross. Now this man has run out
09:31of
09:31patience. I don't know, man. I hope so. I hope so. Trust me. He has, he has run out of
09:37patience.
09:38He has absolutely no patience for anything right now. He is 85. He's on the doorstep.
09:46And this is the one thing that tarnishes his entire legacy. Like you think he's going to have
09:52patience. What do you think he can wait till he's 90 to win win? He'll be fine. I'll put up
09:58another
09:58condo in, uh, in Paul V they'll be, uh, condos don't bring you joy. My friend condos don't bring
10:03you joy. And he's, he's got more money than he can even pass onto his kids. Like, were you cool
10:11with
10:11the, we haven't talked to you. Were you cool with the waddle deal? Uh, just the way, the way it,
10:16it went
10:16down. And, uh, I guess a lot of the conversation has been, was it fair to Malik Willis that they
10:22didn't
10:22let him know. And, and, um, I saw you tweet out bottom line, Sully spoke to him after the deal
10:28went down and he's not gonna, um, you know, he's not gonna not make moves because of, uh, somebody
10:35on his roster. Like he's not clearing his moves through his players. And that, that was kind of
10:40the misinterpretation or misrepresentation. He felt like it wasn't fair for him to come here, sign up
10:46for this. And, you know, he'd signed up for a rebuild. He knew he was going to get a rebuild,
10:51but let's be honest about it. This was the final year of, of, of, uh, Jalen Waddle's
10:56guaranteed money. Truthfully speaking, Jalen Waddle has not deserved a 19 million a year
11:03paycheck. Could Jalen Waddle carry Miami's offense this season? I doubt it considering
11:12he didn't, wasn't able to carry it last season. Now, probably that wasn't in his favor
11:17because to his arm died on him, but it's, it's, you know, and the way Sullivan explained
11:24the trade was when we finally get to the place where we're actually good, where will Jalen
11:30Waddle be? He'll be a 29 year old expensive receiver. Um, uh, right now he flipped them and
11:38traded them in for two young players. Now, will any of them evil even amount to Jalen Waddle?
11:44No, probably, probably not. If you get, if you get a draft pick that amounts to Jalen
11:48Waddle, you've, you've succeeded and done well, but the whole purpose of what they're
11:53doing now is getting younger, getting cheaper. And they want people who want to be part of
12:00this so that they can grow a culture that's healthy. I can promise you Jalen Waddle did
12:05not want to be part of this. Neither does Devon A. Chan. Probably neither does Jordan Brooks.
12:11And I don't want to speak for people who I have not talked to, but you don't think Jordan
12:15Brooks is tempted about going to play for the Dallas Cowboys, his hometown team that
12:20he's rooted for. He's probably rooted for his entire life and get a new contract from
12:24them as opposed to stay here and be a foundational piece in this rebuild like players. And I think
12:31the organization knows that. And the last thing you want to do is force a player to be here
12:35against their will. Well, last thing for me, Omar Kelly, you said something earlier and
12:41I think you have more on it. Well, what's the truth of what happened out there in Vegas
12:46with Christian Wilkins? I have no idea. Oh, you don't? Okay. Christian Wilkins will let
12:51you know very, very promptly that he does not like me. We are not friends. Um, so he's not
12:58tickling your toes is what you tell me. Yeah. Oh, stop. Oh my God. I have no idea what they're
13:05trying to insinuate happen. I know Christian from when he was here five years. Christian
13:10was a great locker room guy. He was a pillar of leadership. Would I take him back on this
13:17Dolphins team in a heartbeat? Um, you can say whatever you want and, and whether, you know,
13:25I don't know what they're trying to elude. Um, but there have been those in the NFL before,
13:31if that's what they're trying to elude, there will, there will, there are those in the NFL
13:36now they'll, they'll be after, after we're gone. I, I have a hard time saying that Christian
13:44is not a great NFL player or is not a good human, no matter what they they're trying to
13:49elude. Christian's a little weird. Yeah. But weird is okay.
13:54There's nothing wrong with weird. Yeah. Solana's weird. We still put up with him because he's
13:58talented, right? It's, it's the, it's, it's the most bizarre thing that I can remember.
14:03Like, I think there was a Joe Mixon situation too in Houston, right? Where like, he just kind
14:08of fell off the face of the earth. Am I, am I forgetting that? Or am I running, running
14:13backs are a little bit different though. Yeah. I'm shocked. He's not signed by now.
14:18Uh, he's got a very good agent and the agent put out when somebody put out a story about,
14:22Oh, well, Christian Wilkins, this is reputation that the agent put out, listen, we've had offers.
14:29Christian's going to sign when he's ready to sign. And I, and trust me, I believe, I believe
14:34his agent because his agent don't play. Um, so Christian will have work when he's ready.
14:41He's, he's probably, I bet she's probably going to end up in new England and he'll, he'll be just
14:46fine. Christian's a new Englander. He's, he loves the Patriots. Um, you know, and they got plenty of
14:53money left to spend. Omar Kelly's on the Toyota of Hollywood hotline shop over 2000. Toyota's on sale
14:58at one location. Toyota of Hollywood on four, four, one between Hollywood and Sheridan,
15:03Toyota of Hollywood.com. Omar Kelly. Thank you. Appreciate it.
15:07All right, guys.
