00:22Great start by Levi. We saw what happened in that he race. Got a bad start.
00:26Cole Davies executed that start perfectly. He probably had it, but he was being very patient.
00:32Trying not to make a mistake. So far, he's in the lead. Nice.
00:36First hole shot of the year for Kitson. The starts have been terrible this year.
00:39He's fixed them as of late, except for the heat race. And he's running with Davies.
00:45It's like half-acre has moved to third. Different rhythms there.
00:50Yeah, different rhythm. Levi backed off. He saw Cole was going to trolley triple in.
00:53They didn't want to collide. But if I'm hating Deegan, I got the best of the best in front of
00:57him.
00:57We got Cole Davies. We know how fast Levi is. We got Seth Handmaker.
01:01And these guys are racing for their own championships. So I got to make moves.
01:05Oh, making moves. It's Kitson. Side-by-side.
01:09And Kitson in the lead.
01:14Yeah, Deegan's in 10th. They're making hay.
01:16Well, he's gone. But look at that whoop speed from Davies again.
01:19Yeah, Cole got through that. Levi started getting off balance and was just playing the dancing line,
01:25almost going into Haybells right there. Tough blocks.
01:27And you can see Haight, Deegan getting stuck behind these guys currently in 10th, as you said.
01:31These guys need to stop playing with each other and start moving forward, try to get a gap.
01:35Yeah, because Handmaker is third. Shimoda's fourth.
01:38They're obviously not slouches back there.
01:42And they're closing the gap.
01:43As these two battle for the lead, there's Deegan mired in traffic.
01:47Yeah, Hayden was able to make a pass on Ryder D.
01:49And now Brown. Pierce Brown made a mistake.
01:52Deegan took advantage.
01:53Here comes Kitson in the split lane on Davies.
01:56Yeah, same spot again.
01:59See if Cole squares him up.
02:00Trying to get up the inside of him.
02:03Trying to get that Yamaha down the inside.
02:07Kitson's able to cover it.
02:08But here come the whoops.

02:19You know, both these guys want to be out front.
02:21But again, what they're doing, they're just keeping Haight in the mix.
02:24Eventually, that number one is going to become a problem.
02:26So, I know they're not worried about that now.
02:29But they might be later on.
02:31See if Kitson can break away now.
02:32He's got a little gap on Davies this time.
02:35Handmaker and Shimoda.
02:37That is championship-level stuff.
02:39Back there in second, third, and fourth for the East.
02:42And the last time we've seen these guys on the West Coast, Hayden Deacon and Levi had a huge battle
02:47in Seattle.
02:49Actually, Levi actually closed that gap.
02:51But nonetheless, he's out front.
02:52Watch his speed right here with Cole Davies.
02:54Now, the only problem with that, he blitzes past him.
02:57He's on the outside.
02:57He did a good job at not going down.
03:00But Levi was not letting him have it at that point.

03:04Yeah, I love what you said there, James, about the fact that Hayden is stuck in the pack.
03:09And, yes, they need to be worried about the race for the lead.
03:11And, of course, they're caught up in that.
03:13But they are leaving seconds of lap time on the track right now.
03:17And not only are they letting Hayden stay in the race, guys like Seth Hamaker and Joe Shimoda in third
03:21and fourth,
03:22they are loving this because that allows him to close up to the lead.
03:28Yeah, this is so critical here, JT.
03:30Davies trying to close back in on Kitchin, and he must because his rivals in the east.
03:35Oh, D-Francisco is in the mechanics area with problems.
03:38Oh, that's a bummer.
03:39We saw Ryder really quick earlier in the day.
03:43I don't know what happened to him.
03:44Probably got into it with a lap Ryder or ends up on a tough block from what I can see
03:49right there.
03:49But tough break for him.
03:51Look at this battle, James, Hamaker, and Shimoda going at Davies.
03:55And why this is important, this is the battle for the points right here with these guys, you know, how
04:00close they are.
04:01So they want to continue to racing.
04:03And at least they don't want anybody on the West Coast getting between these guys.
04:08A long race to go.
04:09Now you're seeing that number one creep in.
04:11You got Anstey fifth, then Boland, and then Deegan.
04:19There's Deegan.
04:20And you can see now he's entering the corner just as Shimoda is moving out of that turn.
04:26So he's got them in sight.
04:28Got to deal with Anstey first.
04:32Yeah, that was my mistake.
04:34I actually thought Anstey was Deegan.
04:35He's popping in still, but.
04:39Oh, no, Pierce Brown, winner of round one of the East is down and not getting back into the race.
04:45Oh, that's going to be tough for the championship wise.
04:48He comes in only two points down.
04:51His teammate.
04:53So that's going to be a huge blow to him.

04:57Just watching this battle for third and fourth.
04:59And James, imagine if you were in a championship fight and you had to practice and train at the same
05:03place as your rival every single day.
05:06Well, that's what the situation is for Seth Hamaker and Joe Shimoda.
05:09They both run at the dog pound.
05:10That same facility we talked about with Kate Johnson and SMX next.
05:14So they know exactly what each other have.
05:16They know their strengths and weaknesses.
05:17They know if they're in shape or not.
05:19So it's just another wrinkle to this battle we're watching unfold.
05:21Yeah, that's that's definitely tough because there's really no secrets.
05:24I can tell you I wouldn't have any friends left on Sunday.
05:28Eventually, you got to try to win.
05:31Here's one and two in West battling for fifth.
05:34So it's one and two points.
05:36Anstey and Deegan.
05:37And then you see the lead group just ahead of them.
05:42Yeah, Hayden Deme right now.
05:44Like, he looks still pretty calm.
05:46You know, I think for him, the person he probably wants in front is actually Levi
05:50because he has the most experience racing him so far this year.
05:53So maybe Levi's probably going to be worried about looking behind him
05:58as we see Pierce Brown's good to see him get up and off.
06:00But yeah, I think if I'm Hayden, just get past Max,
06:04make sure I get those points on the West.
06:05And then I'm going to try to close that gap on the number 47.
06:09So as these two battle, Kitchin has about one second on Davies.
06:13And then you see every section of the track.
06:15Sometimes, Hamaker and Shimoda close on Davies.
06:18Sometimes Davies pulls back away.
06:20Here we are to the split lane.
06:21Deegan going to try to make a move on Anstey.
06:26If Hayden gets this triple,
06:28Aldi, if you're up on the long, up on the inside,
06:31let's see if you can square him up, get on the inside of him here.

06:35Ah, keeps it low to enter that rhythm, speed,
06:37and now position makes the pass.
06:41That was a nice move by him.

06:47It just took the lead away from Kitchin.
06:50Yeah, we've seen the same thing with Levi in Seattle.
06:52Once he made that pass for the lead,
06:54you would think he would just check out.
06:56But then he started riding behind him.
06:57That allows now Cole Davies to make that pass.
07:01Let's see if Cole, what he can do with this lead.
07:03Now he can get a gap.
07:04He can possibly get away from his teammates.
07:06Oh, yeah.
07:07Dear Davies, this is exactly what you want.
07:08Put a Westrider between you and your championship rivals in the East.
07:12Halfway through this main event.

07:30And Davies, that was his fastest lap of the race.
07:33And it is the fastest lap of the race as Shimoda and Handmaker keep battling.

07:40They keep battling like this.
07:42You're going to see that number one close in very quickly because they're kind of slowing each other down.
07:46So far, they've done a good job of not losing too much.
07:49But now you can see the gap of Cole Davies compared to where they were, Seth and Joe, that is,
07:55a lap ago.
07:56Levi's still in front of them, but Cole's starting to yank away from these guys.
08:00And number one's coming.
08:00Yep, and they have gotten to Kitchen.
08:03So it's going to be a three-rider fight.
08:05It was Davies, Handmaker, Shimoda.
08:07Now it's Kitchen, Handmaker, Shimoda.
08:09Handmaker going to rail this outside.
08:12See if he can do the same thing Payton was able to do to Max.
08:17Levi wasn't close enough.
08:19He was a little bit far ahead where Seth couldn't get all the way on the inside.
08:22But if he does it in the same position, he'll get past the next lap.
08:28Oh, and then Shimoda made the move, used the move speed to get Handmaker.
08:34No, the indecision's right there.
08:35He made that pass.
08:37No.
08:39Shimoda was poking fun at himself yesterday, admitting some of these pass attempts he's tried.
08:43The last couple of weeks have not been very good.
08:45He said part of it is on him, part of it on struggling with the feel and the traction in
08:50the front of the motorcycle.
08:51Hoping they've got it better this weekend, Will.
08:54Yeah, you talked about it earlier, Jason, about how he kind of really takes some time off over the last
08:59couple of weeks here during the break,
09:01which is not perhaps what we were expecting to hear, given that he's been vocal about how he needs to
09:05sort of play catch-up.
09:06But talking to the crew chief over there and just the team in general, they said, look, he had to
09:12work incredibly hard.
09:13That was a lot of time off the bike.
09:15And they also said that they trust Joe.
09:17They trust the way he trains.
09:18He has a very strong base.
09:22And more trouble on track here as Hayden works his way through, guys.
09:26So they just trust Joe where he's at.
09:28And if you look at him now, he doesn't look like a guy who's been away from training for long.
09:34No, no doubt about it.
09:35And Deegan's got a pretty strong base, too.
09:37And he used it to power past Hamaker.
09:40And a look back.
09:41Yeah, he did.
09:42But watch this.
09:43If Hayden gets over to his tabletop, he's jumping this quad that we highlighted earlier.

09:48Went down.
09:49Yeah.
09:50Levi's just got passed by Joe Shimoda.
09:53And Deegan's right there to pounce as well.
09:56It has come unraveled for Kitchen, who was leading this race about five minutes ago.
10:01And this is very costly, by the way, for Hamaker.
10:05Here's Deegan.

10:08You see that coming all day long.
10:12So now Deegan, the top west rider on the track.
10:15Is there time for him to go after Shimoda, who has actually caught Davies for the lead?
10:22Shimoda's right there.
10:24What a race.
10:25This is a huge race.
10:27I mean, this is what Joe does.
10:28He was off from practice, didn't really talk about him.
10:31And then the race had come.
10:32And this is exactly what he does.
10:34And the difference is, between last weekend, he's got more time.
10:36So if he can beat it, we know how strong Joe is.
10:41Got the number one creeping on up.
10:43And Davies dropped the hammer halfway through.
10:45Ripped the lead away.
10:46Started playing away.
10:46Thought maybe it was over.
10:48Shimoda not having it.
10:50Sending it around the outside is to 30.
10:54Here we go.
10:55As if he slows down, you see Cole Block.
10:57But that momentum is just going to lead him to the outside.
11:01Oh, Davies was stingy with it.
11:02That's going to slow Shimoda.
11:03And you know, Deegan will get into the picture.
11:06And there he is.
11:09Yeah, if I'm hating on, I think he's probably just, he knows he has the pace at this point.
11:14I mean, he's been able to go faster.
11:16Cole ran at 55 that last lap.
11:18So I'm not sure exactly what happened.
11:19He was in the 52s.
11:20Joe's in the 53s.
11:22And Deegan's showing Shimoda a wheel now in multiple sections.
11:32You know, that's what we love so much about these showdowns.
11:37We have all five of the best riders within five seconds.
11:40And for Hayden Deegan, this isn't about points.
11:43This isn't about money.
11:44This is about bragging rights.
11:45He wants to go up there, pass all these guys, tell him he's the best guy, come from a bad
11:51start.
11:51And when he gets on the podium, if he wins this race, he's going to tell them about it then
11:54too.
11:55This is all about proving he's the best 250 rider in the world one more time.
11:59That's what Hayden Deegan wants to do right here.
12:02No doubt about it.
12:03But meanwhile, Davies and Shimoda, they have to give it everything they have because this is championship fight between those
12:09two riders in the east.
12:11And Deegan's looking to spoil it.
12:13And I would say out of all the guys that's in this field, these two guys have been the two
12:17that's actually had some success against Hayden Deegan in this 250 class.
12:22So not surprising that they're elevating their game.
12:24But they're also in a tough position because as much as Joe wants to beat Hayden, he doesn't want to
12:29lose any points by making a mistake, getting caught up with Hayden and lose points to Cole Davies for the
12:35championship.
12:35It's going to be a tough position for all these guys.
12:38The split lane keeps working for Shimoda.
12:40And there's some live traffic up ahead of Davies.
12:47Track is getting really slippery.
12:52Oh, Davies came up short in a triple.
12:54Shimoda saw the opportunity.
12:56Oh, but the whoops.
12:58Uh-oh.
12:58Here's Deegan.

13:10Honestly, we've seen that from Joe several times this year.
13:12The past attempts actually end up being a net negative.
13:15And now here comes Deegan.
13:17Showing a way out of the leader.

13:23And Deegan has come from 10th to first.

13:33I mean, I know these guys are ready for a championship, but I'll be honest with you.
13:38Hayden made this look pretty easy so far.

13:47Maybe he'll still get it.

13:56Shimoda thought he had the pass made.
14:00So, Deegan now sitting sail with the lead.

14:04And he's dominating.

14:11But the battle left is a battle potentially for a share of the point lead to the East.

14:17Yeah, this is big.
14:19And if you're Joe, you're just focused to end on, like, now passing Cole Davis.
14:24As much as you want to get up to Hayden, you just want to get him.
14:26And he's got the pace.
14:27He's just got to make it happen, Joe.
14:31Different lines to the split lane than they've been.

15:01I know Cole goes to the inside right there.
15:03But that's allowing Joe to make that time up.

15:07I'm going to have to work on that.
15:08It's going to be hard in this main event.
15:09But, like you see, Joe Shimoda, if he gets close to him,
15:12he's going to pass him by entering these corners.
15:15Split lane coming up.
15:21Davies has taken the inside-out combo away from Shimoda.
15:25Shimoda's going to go outside in.
15:27And he makes a mistake.
15:30Joe wanted to get on the gas so early.
15:33He started spinning up.
15:34This is how difficult that track is.

15:37He's brought in his own race.
15:41He's going to go down to the last lap for the East contenders.
15:44They pulled away from Hamaker.

16:45And here's Hamaker.
16:48Deegan's got the checkers in sight.
16:50It's going to be a wide open run to the finish.

17:03Next last corner, he ends up getting passed by Seth.

17:12He gets caught up behind Seth right here.

17:15He's going to double to the inside.
17:16I'm assuming he probably slots out right here.

17:20He knew he couldn't go to the outside, Seth would have dove to the inside, but he was
17:24stuck.
17:24And, oh, that's going to eat at Joe because he almost tied for the points.
17:28Now he ends up losing points.
17:30Oh, bummer for him.
17:31Oh, and you see the emotion from Joe.
