2026 MXGP of Switzerland MX2 Race 2
Transcript
00:00Thank you for listening.
00:38Welcome back to Fraunfeld for round three
00:41of the FIM Motocross World Championship.
00:43The MXGP of Switzerland presented by IXS.
00:46The first ever Swiss Grand Prix was held back in 1957.
00:50That was a 500cc category.
00:51And it was Nick Ganssen of Belgium who was victorious at Geneva
00:54riding a matchless.
00:56We've had 88 GPs since then, 97 winners in total.
01:00And in MX2, we've had six different winners from the last six rounds.
01:04Max Anstey, Benoit Paciorel, Jorge Prado, Thibaut Beniston,
01:08Kaida Wolf and Simon Langenfelder.
01:10Will there be a new winner on the MX2 trophy here this weekend
01:14or will Simon Langenfelder be the first two-time winner
01:17around this Fraunfeld circuit?
01:20MX2 race two coming up in a few moments' time.
01:22You can see the riders out on their sighting lap.
01:26The flares are going once again.
01:28And what a day it has been so far in both MX2 race one
01:32and the first MXGP race.
01:35We've not had rain for the last hour or so.
01:38There's a speck of blue sky on the horizon breaking out
01:42from underneath those thick gray clouds.
01:44And this racetrack, 1,530 meters long,
01:48is probably as sticky as it's going to be.
01:51It might even be near perfect in some places.
01:54That problematic turn, turn 5, that late, that 1.80 left has been flattened and groomed.
02:00So hopefully we won't have any more casualties in that particular turn
02:05from a technical standpoint at least.
02:09450 meters altitude or thereabouts.
02:13And it's just been a cold, wet, miserable, drizzly day all day today.
02:18And if you weren't with us earlier, here's what happened in the first MX2 race.
02:27Gate drop for MX2 race one, five, six gates in over on the left-hand side.
02:313.17, Matis Valand coming away with his first foxhole shot.
02:34That's five different hole shot winners from the first five races.
02:37Carlos Raceless was there in second, Ferez third, Langenfelder was to the outside fourth.
02:41To his inside was Maxim Gross, Sascha Kunen was just a little bit further back.
02:45Camden McClellan outside of the top 20, the championship leader.
02:47Valando was up front and just pulling away from everybody else on track.
02:52Sascha Kunen had this opening lap off-track excursion.
02:56Lucky to get back on track just behind Everts and Latter.
02:59Latter forcing his way into third as a result of all that as well.
03:03Carlos Raceless was running second for a while,
03:06but then obviously Ferez went through and then a few quarters later,
03:10Langenfelder went through as well, so they were second and third.
03:14Carlos Raceless down to fourth at that moment.
03:18Liam Everts was charging, caught his way onto the rear wheel of Valerio Latter,
03:23gained a position and then lost it immediately.
03:26Valerio Latter stayed in that fifth position.
03:29Then the corner before, you see the chain hanging off the bike there
03:32on the inside of the sprocket.
03:35Valand out of the lead on lap nine and out of the race.
03:38Gian Ferez took over the lead and then he went down
03:40after tagging a back marker.
03:42Langenfelder then took over the lead.
03:43As a result of that, Ferez lasted two laps at the head of the field.
03:47He then got himself into a bit of a shindig with Liam Everts.
03:50Everts muscled his way into third on lap 12 of 18,
03:53but it was a win for Simon Langenfelder,
03:56his third victory of the season.
03:57Sasha Kunin second, Everts third, Ferez and Latter,
04:00you've topped five.
04:05Yannis, this is the moment.
04:07Carlos Racialis was six, Yannis Racialis was seven,
04:09Camden McClellan was eight, Maxim Bro nine,
04:11Kai Cars Makers was ten.
04:14Here's how the riders line up.
04:16Well, we'll do it pretty good first, shall we?
04:18Lisa Laina was down on the grid a few moments ago.
04:20She caught up with Matisse Valand and before that, Carlos Racialis.
04:26So I'm just on the start grid and we're almost ready
04:29for the penultimate race of the day.
04:31And I think at this stage, it's safe to say
04:33that we have to expect the unexpected in these races.
04:37Let's grab a few words with Monster Energy,
04:39Yamaha Factory, MX2 rider, Carlos Racialis.
04:42Mainly because, Carlos, that tough race,
04:44that first race caught a lot of riders out, didn't it?
04:47But you weren't one of them.
04:48That was a good result for you in P6.
04:50Yeah, overall, I had a consistent race
04:52with, like, a good start and not too many mistakes.
04:56Only thing that I took too many tear-offs off in the beginning
05:01and I ran out of tear-offs towards the end.
05:03And, yeah, I sadly had to throw my goggle away
05:06a couple of laps to go.
05:08But overall, it was a good race.
05:09I'm looking forward to the race, too.
05:11Coming into the 2026 campaign, Carlos,
05:13what's your ultimate goal for this year?
05:16What are you aiming for?
05:17I'm aiming for more motors, like the first race today,
05:21around, like, top five.
05:23This is where I would like to be more often.
05:26But, yeah, overall, I just...
05:27My main goal is to enjoy,
05:29because I enjoyed a lot the first moto,
05:31so I'm just happy to be here, you know.
05:34Have a good race. Thank you.
05:36Now, I would like to check now to Matisse Valen
05:39from Kawasaki Factory Racing Team,
05:41just because that was a tough race for you.
05:44But it wasn't just you, Matisse.
05:45It happened to other riders also in MXGP.
05:48Yeah, definitely. I made the job again.
05:51I had the whole shot, so this was really good.
05:53And then I was having really good pace,
05:55having my flow, and then 10 seconds gap,
05:58so I was really good.
05:59The model was almost gone, but, yeah.
06:05Unfortunately, the chain jumped,
06:07so this was really bad.
06:08And then I saw also in 450, they had the problem also,
06:11so, yeah, it happened to everyone,
06:14and it's what it is, and now we need to do the same,
06:17and we'll see.
06:18Matisse, the positives are you're getting the start,
06:21and you are good around this racetrack.
06:22It was just a really unlucky moment.
06:24Yeah, I feel really good with the track.
06:26I would say this kind of a French track,
06:29so I feel really good, and now we need to do the same.
06:33Let's hope for a better race.
06:34Thank you, then, Matisse Valen.
06:35Good luck to the guys.
06:36It's time for MX2 race two.
06:41Here we are in Fraunfeld.
06:43There's that problematic turn, no longer problematic.
06:46Here's where we've been, here's where we're going.
06:48It's the early days yet, 2026.
06:50Switzerland, presented by IXS.
06:52Fraunfeld, almost done and dusted.
06:55Without the dust.
06:58A week off, we've got two in Italy,
07:00one in Sardinia, one in Trentino.
07:01Week off, and then we go three in a row,
07:02week off, three in a row, week off.
07:04Three in a row, week off.
07:06Two, week off, three in a row.
07:11Somewhere in there, we get a month-long holiday
07:12after Trentino in France.
07:14Don't call it holiday, though.
07:16There's always something to do.
07:18Races to run and stuff like that.
07:25Take a look at how the riders line up.
07:26Same as they did in race one,
07:27based on where they finished in the qualifying race on Saturday.
07:29Sacha Kunin on pole for the third time this year,
07:31as he's won all three qualifying races
07:33in 2026.
07:35Camden McClellan goes to line second,
07:37then Valerio Latta, Simon Langenfelder,
07:39Mattis Valland, Liam Evans,
07:40Guillem-Perez, and Giannis Rachelis.
07:44Lining up behind them,
07:45Yudis Mikola and Carlos Rachelis.
07:47And we've got Kaz Valk, Kai Carsmakers,
07:49Maxim Groh, Jens Wolvoort,
07:50Tele Gundersen, Oli Kolmer.
07:5330 riders lining up
07:55in the mix two.
07:59Simon Langenfelder,
08:00your winner from race one,
08:01his third victory of the season.
08:05And Simon Langenfelder
08:06has gone back to the top
08:07of the championship standings.
08:08He's on 129.
08:09Camden McClellan,
08:10eight back on 121.
08:12Sacha Kunin,
08:14third in the standings now,
08:1611 behind McClellan,
08:17and just eight ahead
08:19of Guillem-Perez,
08:20the other triumph.
08:22Liam Evans sits fifth,
08:23just three behind the Spanien.
08:27Liam Evans worked hard
08:29for that third place finish
08:30in race one.
08:31Had to muscle his way
08:33past Guillem-Perez,
08:34showed a little bit
08:35of character there
08:36in doing so.
08:37Guillem-Perez led for two laps
08:39in the first race.
08:40Had a tussle,
08:41was on the wrong side
08:42of an argument
08:42with a back marker,
08:44dropped down to third
08:44and then was nudged
08:45down to fourth
08:46as Evans came through.
08:49Valerio Latta,
08:51also working hard
08:52in race one
08:53to gain fifth position.
08:54What can the Honda HRC
08:56Patronus rider do
08:57in this second outing?
09:01Camden McClellan,
09:04eighth in race one,
09:05started outside the top 20,
09:06got his way back to eighth
09:07in what were very,
09:08very difficult,
09:08challenging conditions
09:09in terms of
09:10just the sticky nature
09:11of the track,
09:12the deep ruts.
09:15Can he win race two
09:16at the very, very least?
09:18What will the podium
09:20finally look like?
09:21We have absolutely no idea.
09:24All we know is
09:25there have been
09:26six different Grand Prix winner
09:29since we started
09:30coming back to Fraunfeld
09:32in the last six
09:34runnings of this event.
09:36Can Simo Langerfeld
09:38have become the first
09:38two-time winner?
09:39Will it be somebody else?
09:40Sasha Kuna,
09:41Liam Evans,
09:41Guillem-Perez,
09:42Latta,
09:43who knows?
09:43The Fly Racing
09:4415-second board
09:45up for the final time
09:46this weekend,
09:47MX2 race two.
09:57Five-second board
09:58has turned.
10:01Everybody cleanly away,
10:02good reaction
10:03over on the left-hand side,
10:04but it's going to be
10:05Evertz
10:05who sneaks across
10:06Valerio Latta,
10:08but it's
10:09Ferez,
10:10and then he looks across
10:11and sees Evertz there.
10:12Evertz is going to take
10:13the lead by the time
10:14we get to the finish line
10:15jump,
10:15and Ferez should
10:16come straight back.
10:19And Evertz
10:20against six races,
10:22six different
10:23foxhole shotters.
10:26But it's Ferez
10:27who leads.
10:32Tiptoon through the first,
10:33McClellan buried
10:34at the back again,
10:35look at the red
10:35on the front
10:36of that triumph
10:37as he's working
10:38his way to the outside
10:39here,
10:40and he is buried
10:41in around about
10:42eighth place,
10:42so I don't know
10:43what Camden McClellan's
10:44done to have his
10:46starts neglected
10:48this weekend.
10:51But he has struggled
10:53to get off the gate
10:53here in Switzerland,
10:56and he's given himself
10:57a mountain to climb.
10:59Simon Langefelder,
11:00your winner from race one,
11:01here he is,
11:02currently in fourth place.
11:05As Ferez leads,
11:07Evertz second,
11:07Carlos raceless third.
11:10Langefelder fourth,
11:10tidied up that part
11:11of the racetrack as well,
11:12and here,
11:13just to try and open up
11:14the circuit
11:15just that little bit more.
11:18The tram lines
11:20almost catching out,
11:22Evertz as he tiptoed
11:23over the edge.
11:25Almost folded the front
11:26and almost lost
11:27second place.
11:33But it's Ferez,
11:35Evertz,
11:36Carlos raceless,
11:37Langefelder.
11:41Coming towards us now,
11:43Sascha Kunen
11:44has already found his way
11:46past Valerio Latta.
11:50As he moves into
11:51fifth place,
11:52and having a look
11:53at Langefelder
11:56down past pit lane.
12:00He was desperate
12:00to make moves
12:01on the opening lap
12:02in race one,
12:02and it almost cost him.
12:04You'd think
12:05he'd be wary
12:06not to do the same
12:08again in race two,
12:08but there is
12:10the plucky
12:12number 19
12:13coming back for more.
12:20Langefelder goes
12:21defensive,
12:22Latta there
12:22just losing contact.
12:24Then we've got
12:25Groen,
12:26Valand,
12:26McClellan
12:27is on a charge.
12:28He's up to ninth place.
12:33Just dropping
12:34into that bottom corner
12:35now,
12:35middle of the corner.
12:38Not a bad opening lap
12:39for McClellan.
12:43Imagine where it'd be
12:44if it started in eight.
12:49Langefelder,
12:49both feet off.
12:50First mistake
12:52from the defending champ.
12:55As he continues
12:56to hold on
12:58to that fourth place.
13:00But who's going
13:01to pull the trigger first?
13:02Is it going to be
13:02Langefelder moving forward
13:04or is it going to be
13:04Sascha Kunen
13:05who will then make life
13:06difficult for the German?
13:07Watch this here.
13:09Just gets hung up
13:09around about there.
13:10Lost his balance.
13:13Had to use his upper body
13:14just to maintain
13:16a little bit
13:17of posture.
13:18Sun bursting out
13:19through the clouds
13:20at the moment.
13:20That's a rarity.
13:23I wonder if they've got
13:24sun down in the paddock.
13:33looking down the leader
13:34but Zanox in 24th place.
13:37Oh, McClellan
13:37is down to 29th.
13:38What has happened
13:39to McClellan?
13:41Absolute nightmare here
13:42for the championship leader.
13:49Oh, he's beaten off.
13:55Oh, that looks like
13:57it's taken a hit
13:57as well, that motorcycle.
14:00So McClellan out
14:01at the end of lap one.
14:13Oh, he's beaten off.
14:14Oh, he's beaten off.
14:17Vincent
14:19Baraney
14:19there
14:20on side
14:22Vincent Baraney
14:23on side there
14:24to try and help
14:25Camden McClellan up.
14:26At least he was
14:26putting his arm out
14:27just to say
14:27give me a hand up, buddy.
14:30But out of race two
14:31Camden McClellan
14:32arrived here
14:32with the championship
14:33leader's red plate
14:34slow to his feet.
14:38Concern on the faces
14:39down there
14:40in the triumph garage
14:43but McClellan
14:44will take no further
14:46part
14:46in this Grand Prix.
14:55His teammate
14:59trying to keep
15:01the hopes alive
15:03for triumph.
15:04He leads
15:06Everts
15:06second
15:07Carlos Rachel
15:08is there
15:08third
15:08almost
15:09get caught
15:10by Langefelder
15:11who goes
15:12the outside route
15:13and he's going to
15:14compromise his position
15:15here as Kunan
15:16gets better drive
15:19and he's put himself
15:20in a good position
15:21here to muscle this way.
15:22Oh, and he folds
15:23to front.
15:24How does he bounce
15:25out from that?
15:27Sasha Kunan
15:28the rubber man
15:31just hanging
15:32off that motorcycle
15:33like a piece of wet
15:34washing.
15:36Shabba
15:38watches
15:40holds the front
15:42bounces back.
15:46Langefelder
15:46let off the hook
15:48Kunan
15:48lifts to save
15:49another lap
15:50for now.
15:56You can't take your eye
15:58off him.
15:59Ferez continues to lead
16:00he's only two and a half
16:01seconds clear
16:02but he's
16:02in the safe zone
16:03at the moment
16:04as Everts tries
16:05to give chase
16:06in second
16:06Carlos Reisless
16:07Simon Langefelder
16:09breaking free
16:09from Sasha Kunan
16:10but he's like the Terminator
16:11he's going to keep
16:12coming back for more
16:12as well, isn't he?
16:13Can't see those red eyes
16:14underneath those goggles
16:15of his but
16:18Sasha Kunan
16:19trying to
16:19now make some distance
16:20between himself
16:21and Valerio
16:22Valan
16:23Mikola
16:23Raceless
16:24Wolvoort
16:24they ran out
16:25in top ten
16:35this was a part
16:36of the track
16:37I think
16:37where
16:38McClellan
16:39went down
16:39through those waves
16:42get Sasha Kunan
16:45quick to get

17:35good to see

17:37riding back
17:39to the paddock
17:40even if he's a bit
17:41beat up
17:42secondhand
17:44but I don't think
17:45it was a
17:46intentional break

36:16Racialis here, still hanging on to that fourth place, Lata, and Valin getting closer.
36:31Good effortless for Lata, he was fifth in race one, would love to get a fourth place here if he
36:36could.
36:38In the second race, the longer he stays behind Carlos Racialis, the more chances got of being
36:44caught by the Frenchman on the Kawasaki, who was also given chase.
37:00He's tiptoeing over that precipice.
37:14Back markers in their own race, Carlos Racialis hoping for blue flags as he gets out of the turn here.
37:24Back marker, no idea where to go.
37:32Lata all over the back of the Latvian once more.
37:36Two and a half minutes plus two laps to go. Will the Italian find his way through?
37:46Nothing in it between fifth, that fourth, fifth, and sixth at the end of lap 15.
37:53Ferez and Evert separated by 1.2 as well. Langefeld are only six seconds off that battle.
38:01There is your lead group in the opposite direction, coming into land, heading out towards the waves.
38:08But this battle here as well. Lata to the inside, does make the move. Can he make it stick?
38:16Yes, he does. Carlos Racialis tried to fight back around the outside. Lata now up in a four.
38:35There is a battle for the lead.
38:40Triumph race in MX2. Factor rider, 99.
38:43Guillem Ferez of Spain, the Nastana Svalna, 26, of Liam Evertz.
38:50Evertz chasing a race of the Grand Prix victory here at round three.
39:00Evertz hasn't stood on the top step of the podium since round two last year in Kozar.
39:15It's going to be three laps from here. Clock ticking away.
39:27Evertz still nothing in it between these two.
39:30We know Ferez from his performance in race one.
39:36In Spain was able to withstand all the pressure from his teammate.
39:43Vallin finally gets the better of Racialis as he moves up in the fifth place.
39:59We know how tough a character Guillem Ferez is.
40:07We know he's got big elbows. We know he will fight for every single point.
40:11He'll fight for those race wins as well.
40:16Everts unlucky with the back marker here.
40:19But he may have found a better line just going around him as well. You never know.
40:23He's got a better line just going around him as he moves up in the fifth place.
40:30Slight mistake there from the Spaniard.
40:33As he exits that turn.
40:39Get a time check here. It was 1.6 at the previous split over the tunnel jump at the end
40:46of the waves.
40:48That's 1.9. Good response, sis. It's only three tens, but you'd rather be 1.9 up than 1.9
40:53down with two to go.
40:58The question is, we've seen Everts get onto the rear wheel of Ferez. Where is or where are the passing
41:05opportunities?
41:07It's going to be mistakes like that that are going to allow Everts to get back onto the rear wheel.
41:11And all of a sudden that 1.9 gap is back down to 1.1 as we head into the
41:16penultimate lap.
41:17Everts working hard to get back on terms.
41:26Everts needing a little bit of help here with the blue flags.
41:30Gets good drive out of that turn.
41:33Ferez goes defensive. Everts is going to take the next line round.
41:38Hoping for a smoother transition, but immediately Ferez pulling a bit more ground.
41:53And all of a sudden, Ferez gains another advantage, another back marker there in that left-hand turn,
41:58holding up Everts. 2.3 now the gap with a lap and a half to go.
42:09And he's still got back markers in between him and Ferez.
42:13Has Everts.
42:16Ferez will move back up to second in the championship.
42:20Langenfelder will take the red plate on 1.49.
42:22Ferez, 1.27.
42:23Sacha Kunin, 1.24.
42:25McClellan and Everts tied on fourth at the moment on 1.21.
42:42Ferez feet up through that right.
42:49Definitely enjoying his second term in MX2, isn't he?
42:53Now he knows the tracks.
42:56He's had a year with the bike, a good off-season with the bike.
42:59Into the final lap, Giam Ferez.
43:03He's 1.49, 1.50 away from his second win of the season, his third career race win.
43:15Is that 2.4 second gap too much to bridge on this final lap for Liam Everts?
43:20He will still give chase.
43:24The Acherbis fastest lap will be long to Everts, 1.47.807.
43:30But he wants a race win and a Grand Prix victory as well.
43:36Sima Langenfelder on the top step of the podium at the moment though, with a win and a third.
43:42He will pick up 45 points to Ferez, 43.
43:46Everts, 42.
44:01Look over the shoulder, wants to know where Latta is.
44:03About three and a half, four seconds further back where he was.
44:072.8 now as Langenfelder just starts to back off ever so slightly just to bring it home.
44:16Everts is reducing the gap but it's not going to be enough.
44:19He's running out of time.
44:22Ferez with a matter, four or five corners to go.
44:28Gap 1.2, still can't switch off.
44:33Everts could still spring a surprise.
44:38And Ferez needs to be clean through the final couple of corners.
44:41Is he trying to be too clean?
44:43Here comes Everts, making a run towards the line.
44:49Ferez untidy coming out of the final turn.
44:52But Ferez wins the race.
44:54Everts second, the gap three tenths of a second.
44:57But it's going to be Sima Langenfelder who will stand on the top step of the podium here in Switzerland.
45:01The first MX2 rider to win twice here in Braunfelsen.
45:06And he goes back to back, does the German.
45:09Victorious last year and victorious again here in 26.
45:16Langenfelder not happy with traffic.
45:24And telling Alessandro Gasparri exactly what he thinks.
45:35But Sima Langenfelder will stand on the top step of the podium.
45:38Ferez second, Everts third.
45:40Ferez on the podium with a race win.
45:47Some smiles then for triumph.
45:49Hopefully Camden McClellan is okay.
45:51Been a rough weekend for him, certainly on race day.
45:53Eighth in race one, DNF in race two after a big crash.
45:58Hopefully he's okay, but he drops to fourth in the championship.

46:18Where did that come from, Kai?
46:20Dixon will be asking the same question.
46:22Oh, where did that come from, Kai?
46:28Oh, if you can do it at the end of the race, you can do it at the beginning of
46:30the race.
46:32I know, I was with him for seven years.
46:37Anyway, let's go down to our Grand Prix winner.

46:56The track was really rough.
46:58One line, unfortunately, but nice ruts.
47:01It was really fun to ride, I must say.
47:03But the left riders, boy, they play in so much in those races.
47:07I had the feeling they were not too far away.
47:10Also, I did some mistakes, but sometimes they really kill your rhythm.
47:14Well, great job for the GP overall.
47:23Yeah, nothing worse when you lose the rhythm up,
47:27especially when it's down to a back marker.
47:29But Simon Langenfelder letting Gaspari know exactly
47:34the situation.
