2026 Round 10 450 Main
Transcript
00:00And we now hear that Hayden Deegan is being penalized one position for what we saw crossing
00:06from outside to inside of the split lane. So I believe that's going to give the win to Cole
00:10Davies. We'll figure more on that as the show goes on. I believe there is a rolling for the showdown
00:14back to 450. Big moment. Roxen and Webb trying to get back in this championship. They've won the
00:20heaps. Can they do it in the main? And Clawson points back on Hunter Lawrence and Eli Tomac.
00:26It's another showdown. This time in the 450 class. Birmingham revs her up. Gates down.
00:37Jorge Prado. Got the whole shot. And Justin Cooper a good start as well. But here's Hunter Lawrence
00:45and Tomac Cervantes. What a start for Eli. He did exactly that. Got a great jump beat on everybody.
00:52Those guys pushed out. Look at him. Already trying to go for the second place. His teammate
00:56Jorge. Hunter has taken the lead away from Prado and is trying to get away. Tomac gets the move
01:03on Cooper but can't get his teammate yet.
01:07Jorge. Now I don't think he's going to hold up Eli. They're teammates. So once Eli gets close
01:11to him, Jorge probably make it a little easier than anybody else. But Hunter Lawrence. What a championship
01:17move. Both these guys. These guys are one and two at the point. They come out and execute. That's why
01:21they're up front. Webb is seventh. Roxen is 12th. Let's see if the split line works for
01:28Tomac as Prado is giving Lawrence a run right now. I don't want to bring up past history but
01:34there was some comments made by Hunter Lawrence and how he raced Jorge Prado the last race.
01:40So I don't think that's that well with Jorge. So I don't think he'll try to do anything but
01:45would be surprised if he runs that front end in there. Jorge that is. Yes. Hunter felt that
01:51Jorge made it very easy on Tomac and very difficult on him to make passes. Prado the opposite right
01:56there. And Hunter said, I'll give him some body English next time if that's what it takes.
02:01And then Prado responded on Instagram and said, I wasn't even doing it on purpose. I can give you
02:07body Spanish if you want. Oh, so far Hunter is getting away from that. Should it's going to be
02:14a tough position for Eli. I think the path to be here once Jorge recognizes that it's his teammate
02:20probably opened that door for him. But Eli's got to be closer. How does he play it? Not well enough
02:25for Tomac on that inside. Starting to see that 96 get away. JT. I just saw Jorge take a look
02:37over
02:37there and now he's going to realize that that's Eli. The toughest part was he wouldn't have known
02:41that Eli was quite there yet. So I don't think he'll put in much of a fight here. And that's
02:46the
02:46benefit of having a teammate. And it's a luxury that Hunter Lawrence does not have right now.
02:51With the starting prowess of Prado, you have to think that's going to be a factor down the stretch.
02:55And it has also allowed Cooper Webb to jump into the fight here, JT, from seventh to fourth
03:00and right with Tomac. Yeah, this is going to be tough for Eli, especially if these other guys get
03:06into it. We saw in the past sometimes when you get in front of Eli, sometimes it messes up his
03:11focus and his rhythm. So he's got to get it. He's made a few mistakes. Now the 96 is almost
03:16three
03:16seconds over him. You've got to worry, but it's a long race, Jason. Cooper Webb right there as is
03:23Justin Cooper pressing Tomac. And Roxen has made some passes closing up on these guys. So
03:30his pace has really slowed down and bunched all these guys up.
03:34Well, everybody but the 96. But yeah, it's heating up back here as Roxen looks to make the move
03:41on Cooper. It's like Kenny's got him. He should be on the outside. Would you put him on the inside
03:46here? And the thing is, I know people, you might see Jorge's blocking, but he's not holding up Eli.
03:52He's got a few seconds. Eli at one point was all over, but I think it messed his rhythm up.
03:57But nonetheless, you see Ken Roxen hits that quad now. Love that line. Now he's closing up on the
04:02champ, Cooper Webb. Yeah, maybe the first lap or two, Tomac was all over Prado, but Prado's
04:09holding his own now. And everyone has decided inside, outside is the way through the split lane
04:15will. That start was so key for Eli Tomac. Like you said, James, and I spoke to crew chief Carlos
04:21Rivera right before and asked, was there any consideration in going for that outside gate?
04:25And they did actually look at it, but the condition of it, he said, was so bad that they decided
04:30to stay inside there, better condition. And to your point, they can rely on their starts
04:34more than they used to be able to. He's been doing really well with them, but they, reflecting
04:39back on Indy, the three triple crown races then, there were two solid starts out of that.
04:43They put a lot of work into it before Daytona. So to be able to take that far inside gate
04:48pick and rely on a good jump is important. Thank you, Wilbur. How about Prado here who
04:53went in that section they just went through over the bars with a huge crash earlier in
04:58qualifying. And here he is rebounding, running second in the main. Yeah, Prado's in a tough
05:03spot now because Eli's there, but he's like not close enough to where Jorge would really
05:09have to lay up to let him pass. And Eli's not there. So still trying to raise.
05:14And Roxxon has made the move on Webb. And Tomek through the whoops, makes the move on Prado.
05:23Kent's made some great passes. Like you said, he got around Webb. He's probably going to do
05:26the same thing to Jorge as well. Oh, just can't quite seal the deal.
05:33Side by side, see the whoop times. Roxxon is the best on track. Cuts down to the inside
05:40on Prado. Yeah, you saw that one come in. Kenny knew that.
05:45Great move. Let's see if he can stick with Eli. You know, Eli's going to try to go out
05:50to Hunter. So if you're ever going to catch the 96, you better catch a toe in the number
05:53three because he's going to try to make his way up to the front if he can.
05:57Four seconds. The gap between Lawrence and Tomek.
06:04JT. And Roxxon, you know, he didn't have the result he necessarily wanted in any. So
06:08there wasn't a lot of conversation during the off week about him. But if you remember
06:12that race one, he absolutely dominated as he runs it in there on Eli's toe back. Had
06:17he not gotten into that crash with AP, it would have looked a lot different. So don't
06:21sleep on Ken Roxxon right now. He is on his way to the front.
06:23Absolutely, JT. In fact, he makes the move. Second place for Roxxon.
06:29And this has been just an incredible turn for this team. They already said that they're
06:35working on a new deal with Ken Roxxon to keep him on the team for the future. And most
06:40importantly, he was asked, the team owner, Dustin Pipes, be battling Cooper Webb for
06:45third in points right now. And he said, we could not care less about third. We want to
06:50make up 28 points on Hunter Lawrence, still believing they can win this title. And Roxxon's
06:54going for it.
06:55No, absolutely. I talked to Ken yesterday on the way over here. And man, he's so happy.
07:00He talked about how he hasn't changed his bike in over a year. And so he's really comfortable.
07:04Last weekend, he rode good or a couple weekends ago in Indy. He just got caught up with the
07:07AP incident. But Ken, he's been running really good all year long. Man, he's surprising
07:14pass. Nice pass. Prado under fire from Webb. This is for fourth. Oh, Webb almost ran over
07:22his foot in that corner.
07:26Yeah, I mean, I know what Jorge is doing right now. Cooper gets around him. But as a racer,
07:31this is when it gets hard for him. When the guys get upset, when you know the guy's going
07:35back and then he still passed and you slowing your race down. This is where some of these guys
07:39get upset with Jorge and other guys who ride like that. But Jorge is still doing a good
07:43job. He's still in the top five to regroup and try to hold on to this thing.
07:47Yeah, and again, that huge crash earlier today for Prado. Now he's going to have to deal
07:52with Justin Cooper. Hey, Roxxon has cut just a little bit into Hunter Lawrence's lead.
08:01Ken Roxxon was over a half second faster that last lap. Not just cutting into it, he's closing
08:07it down. Yeah, got it from about four and a half now down to 3.7. As you check in
08:13with Hunter
08:13Lawrence, still the race leader. Although we know that Lawrence is our masters of managing a gap.
08:21Roxxon is on his horse right now. Will, what do you got on the 96?
08:26We spoke to him earlier today, Jason, to find out what the off weekend was like for him. It's
08:31obviously a very hectic schedule for these 450 riders. And he said he actually took some time off.
08:36Now, that's incredible because the Lawrence brothers never take any time off. They're
08:40notorious for riding through the Christmas break and everything. I asked him, when was
08:44the last time you actually did nothing over a weekend? And he went back to Motor Course of
08:49Nations, which is in early October. So he said he took that time. It was much of a physical
08:54reset really as it was a mental one. Right now, guys, it's working for him because he looks
08:58fresh out there.
09:00Sure does.
09:02Yeah, Hunter's looking good. I mean, although Ken's closing that gap, what's important for
09:06Hunter, when you see a guy that's coming and they start closing down, especially like
09:09Kenny did, you got to have like two laps of perfect execution because what's going to happen
09:14is Kenny, if he keeps closing, he's going to keep that motivation. If you bridge that
09:18gap, then Kenny is like, OK, maybe he made a mistake and started possibly riding behind
09:22him. So these next two laps are so important for Hunter, which he's picked up his pace and
09:26now it's stabilized that gap.
09:28I'll tell you a mistake. Cooper Webb went down. You saw that bottom box. He is now mired
09:33in eighth with Colt Nichols. Heard he went down maybe with Prado. Prado now battling with
09:39Justin Cooper. So another rough one for Webb. See what Justin Cooper can do.
09:49Cooper makes the move instead to see what happened right there with Cooper Webb. No, he's going
09:54to be upset about that.
09:57Oh, yeah, absolutely. That was like a last gasp for Webb as far as his title is concerned.
10:02Now in eighth place. Malcolm Stewart going after Prado. I wouldn't count out Webb getting back
10:08up to Prado in this race. Could be some fireworks.
10:12Yep.
10:15We know how Cooper is when he's riding mad, but give Jorge Prats that like you mentioned
10:20that section, he just went down. Now he's hitting that same quad that he crashed on.
10:25Prats were getting back up and doing that.
10:27So it's, you're seeing Cooper, Prado, Stewart, Plessinger, and then Webb. And Webb at one point
10:37right there with Tomac. Oh, I just missed that section up. Prado's coming back because of that.
10:44Boom. Hey, we're halfway through this main. A reminder, stocked up on Monster Energy at Amazon.
10:50Great racing here. Malcolm Stewart in the hunt now as well.
10:55It's like I-75 right here with all this traffic trying to get in here. God's getting passing.
11:01You know, truthfully, it's a fun race to be in. It's a nervous one, but it's kind of fun
11:05because every time you open it up, as long as some guy doesn't try to take you out, getting
11:09passed, these are all friends here. So Malcolm's made to pass now AP and then number one back
11:17there. He wants to get back up on the 29 or 26. Yep. Might be mad as a hornet, like
11:22you said,
11:22back up on the 29 or 26 years ago. So yeah, Malcolm has completed the pass on Prado going
11:28after Justin Cooper. That would be for Ford. That'd be a season best for Stewart. If he
11:33you get there.
11:38Comeback trail all season for your brother there,
11:40Malcolm, after that big crash right off the bat,
11:44the very first lap of the season in Anaheim.
11:47Yeah, I had a lot of confidence coming in from the
11:49Parrish race, being able to beat Hunter Lawrence and
11:51Jet Lawrence, so he was sighted coming into the season,
11:53but that first race definitely hit a big damper,
11:56and he's been trying to get back up.
11:58So it's been getting better and better.
12:00This would be his best one.
12:01Let's see if he can close this off for Justin
12:02Cooper, but on down, it rocks it.
12:06Not giving up, got it down 3.4 seconds,
12:10just inching up on Hunter Lawrence.
12:12And we talked about the lap traffic before this main event.
12:16It's a factor again, a relatively short racetrack,
12:19and now they're dealing with the traffic.
12:22Will.
12:23Yeah, now Hunter Lawrence might have to deal with
12:26Ken Roxxon, and the conversation of Ken's second
12:29half of the season has been talked about a lot,
12:31saying that he's stronger in the first half.
12:34I asked Dustin Pipe's team manager about that, and he just,
12:37he brushed it off, and he said, look, that's perhaps
12:39how it was in the past.
12:41He said, what you've got to understand is,
12:42Ken Roxxon, physically and mentally,
12:45is a very different rider from what he used to be.
12:48And he said, the way he goes at his season now, the kind of even
12:51heel that he goes about wins and losses, he said, it's very
12:55important.
12:56That mental mindset that he has to just go about his business,
12:59is changing.
13:01Well, it's working right now, Will, because he keeps closing bit
13:04by bit on Hunter Lawrence.
13:06Lap traffic probably a factor there.
13:07We saw one rider go down over the finish line jump.
13:11Yeah, no, I was watching that, and Ken actually got hung up by the
13:14lap riders, and it was nothing they would do.
13:16If you were looking at him, the lap rider didn't know which way to
13:18go, and he was trying to slow down, and Ken was, because he was
13:22trying to slow down, almost messed Ken up.
13:24Then he goes down after the finish line, so a tough position to be in.
13:27But Ken's hanging strong.
13:28Hunter Lawrence is still right in front of him.
13:30I think if I was Ken, those lap riders, I want to try to use those.
13:33Hunter, maybe that indecisive, close that gap, because I can start to see
13:37him on the same straightaway.
13:38This race isn't over.
13:42We heard Garrett Marchbanks, who is back at night, but he is going to
13:45be docked to position for a track cut.
13:47That's already been decided.
13:49Roxen at one point had it under three seconds.
13:52I think that one rhythm lane might have thrown him back.
13:58It's a tough racetrack to make up time.
14:00You know, even though Ken's been able to do it, it's really slippery.
14:04So you can see Ken makes a little bit of time, then he loses.
14:07I'm thinking he gets a little excited and makes a mistake because of how
14:10difficult this racetrack is and opens up on 96.
14:14Yeah, 96 here.
14:15This could be three wins out of the last four.
14:18The only one he didn't get was Daytona, the Tomac specialty.
14:22This guy is rolling right now.
14:25Oh, that was close.
14:27Uh-oh.
14:29Webb has Prado in his sights.
14:31He has made the move on the seventh of Plessinger, just ahead of Marchbanks.
14:37Yeah, I mean, good ride by Jorge.
14:39It looked like he was going Valkers for a long time.
14:41Aaron and all these guys closed up when he fought as I lost too many more positions.
14:48But that might change if that number one gets close to him.
14:52That's a nice line by Cooper opening that up, staying on the inside.
14:56Now he's got traction.
14:57Look how much time he was able to close.
14:58Wow.
14:58Jorge.
14:59Yeah, he's right there with Prado now.
15:02Split lane.
15:06Everybody going outside.
15:09Now the finish of it.
15:11No.
15:12Can Webb get there?
15:20Oh, we got a replay here.
15:22See how involved Prado was with this situation.
15:25Watch the bottom right of your screen.
15:28Probably going to catch Webb here.
15:30Oh, there's Webb going down.
15:33Yeah, so this is, he was in front of Jorge, so just loses the time.
15:40Oh, no, Prado's not even there.
15:42So he was already getting up by the time Prado got there, so I don't think the 26 was involved.
15:49Show it to you again.
15:52There we go.
15:55Yeah, he went down on his own.
15:56Yeah, no, he went down.
15:57I mean, I think Cooper, he's probably just upset because of what's going on in the race,
16:01not been able to be with Hunter Lawrence, so anybody around him.
16:03But look, good ride by him, be able to close back in.
16:07But Jorge still, like I mentioned earlier, is doing a good job, and he's actually pulled away from Cooper at
16:11this point.
16:11Absolutely.
16:13Jorge Prado just showing week after week a quick study in Supercross.
16:22Expected to be maybe just a year of learning or even just survival to get to pro motocross with Prado
16:27at the podium early.
16:28Oh, no.
16:29Aaron Plessinger down, and he looks like he has hurt himself.
16:33It has been a rough season for the seven, and another bad one.
16:38Yeah, tough break.
16:39That's in that rhythm section.
16:42I figured he took the boot off or to the boot for some possible reason.
16:47Come off, but he is limping.
16:51Man.
16:52Yeah.
16:52Two races in a row.
16:54Man.
16:55They didn't finish.
16:55Yeah, it's been a tough season for Aaron.
16:58You go back to even Anaheim when he got in, went over, crashed over that triple for the finish line.
17:05Well, the Rocks in Charge appears to be over as Hunter Lawrence has stretched it back out.
17:10He has been dynamite in the last minutes of the mains all year.
17:14He's gotten a whole lot better in the early laps.
17:17He's got the great starts.
17:18He is becoming the total package in Supercross.
17:22He absolutely is.
17:23I've been impressed with him for all year.
17:26His whole career, I've been impressed.
17:27But to watch this guy grow this season is very impressive.
17:31The confidence that he's been able to accumulate over these past, I would say five races,
17:36is showing why he can be out front.
17:38He knows how close these points are.
17:40Eli's up there.
17:42Hunter gets out front, pull shot, and pulls away.
17:45Ken Rockson starts closing in.
17:46Hunter rebounds, pulls away.
17:48That's the guy who has everything firing.
17:51I mean, truthfully, just like Haydeegan, he's making it look easy on a difficult racetrack, and that's hard.
17:57But that all goes back to everything he's done so far this year, and you're seeing it in the 96.
18:06And maybe he slept on a little bit, didn't get to race much Supercross last year.
18:11A series of fifth place finishes that said just when he thought they had the motorcycle in a place where
18:16he could start going for podiums and wins, he got hurt.
18:18So we didn't have any doubt on Hunter in Supercross last year.
18:21He's been great in a pro motocross and the SMX playoffs.
18:25This is 10th place.
18:27Jordan Smith about to go a lap down.
18:29And it goes back to that lap rider combo.
18:33These are really good riders.
18:35Yeah, they're putting a lap down.
18:36Now, and the crazy part is if Hunter would have caught him a half a second later, then Jordan would
18:43have been on that inside run.
18:44Then it would have slowed Hunter up for that whole section.
18:46So he just showed you nothing that Jordan would have done.
18:49It just depends on where these guys catch him at.
18:51It really affects their race.
18:52But Hunter was able to get past him.
18:54No harm, no foul.
18:56Really impressed, man.
18:57And for a Smith rookie of the 450 division, this would actually be a career best.
19:01His first career top 10, but also going a lap down.
19:05So this lap rider combo, especially with a lot of top talent out, is just going to continue.
19:11But the biggest story of all is Hunter Lawrence.
19:14Again, this would be three wins in the last four rounds.
19:18Start of the year about talk about Mr. Consistency and four straight second place finishes.
19:24That is in the past.
19:25Now this guy wins races.
19:28Yeah, he's winning races.
19:29And truthfully, the way he's winning these races shows the guy who's really locked in.
19:35I mean, he believes that he's better than everybody else.
19:37Because, I mean, he's straight up beating Eli.
19:39He's saw Ken.
19:40He's got him, JT.
19:42He doesn't.
19:42And he's not going to get any more points for it.
19:44He's going to get a five point difference on Eli.
19:46But when they go back and they're doing their data analysis and they look that he's going to be 28
19:51seconds ahead, the mental edge of that way is heavy.
19:55Like, they're still in a championship battle.
19:57It's going to be, what, seven points leading here tonight.
19:59But that is a huge deal to be 27 seconds.
20:03And Eli had to watch him right away.
20:04So that mental battle, that's a huge checkmark for Hunter tonight.
20:07Yeah, absolutely.
20:08I couldn't agree with you more, JT.
20:10And when Hunter goes back, yeah, exactly.
20:13He's going to watch what happens to Eli.
20:15Now, I think with Eli, he is a champion.
20:17And I wouldn't be surprised if he came to Detroit next weekend and won because we know how good he
20:22is.
20:22But if I'm Hunter Lawrence, these five points, that's nice.
20:25But this confidence that I've gained in watching my biggest rival kind of suffer and fade back when he couldn't
20:32catch me gives me more confidence than just having those five points, to be honest with you.
20:38What we always talk about how important confidence is, and I'm sure it is with Hunter.
20:42As we see the team manager, Lawrence Lindstrom, watching.
20:45But how important is confidence to Hunter compared to the average racer?
20:49Because we always talk about the even-heeled, unemotional approach.
20:53Does it matter that much for him?
20:55It is because you don't get to the point, and like, I believe what happens, he believes in himself.
21:02And that's where the inner confident being confident, he has that.
21:05And all his things that he's went through his career to get to this point, that's what he has.
21:09But to have the belief to be able to, okay, when this guy's catching me, all right, not being able
21:14to detour off of that, that's what you learn from racing.
21:17And I think that's what we see the difference between Hunter.
21:19It's not like he has more confidence in believing, I got more skills.
21:22But to be able to, like, when things aren't going right, oh, I can still get this done.
21:26You only get that from doing what he's doing today and what he's done in the past so far this
21:30year.
21:30He's just taking a huge bite out of the competition.
21:34That big gap over Tomac, going to gain five more points of the championship.
21:37Roxen is still charging and through the traffic, and maybe Hunter backing it down a little bit.
21:43He's got it back under three seconds, but it's the last lap.
21:45He has also lapped past Colt Nichols.
21:49Nichols an eighth season best, but a lap down.
21:53And Hunter Lawrence beginning to take over Monster Energy Supercross in the 450 class.
22:03And this is just straight grit.
22:06Year after year, day after day of small improvement, stacking days, stacking the work, building it to this.
22:15Hunter Lawrence dominates in Birmingham.
22:21Stack of chips.
22:25That was big.
22:26That was big.
22:27Great job by Kenny, too.
22:28Yes.
22:31And a struggle here for Tomac.
22:33Certainly not the night he wanted, considering he went to the LCQ.
22:36Podium points is good.
22:39But you know he's here to beat Hunter and try to get that point lead back.
22:45Yeah.
22:46Overall, I guess points-wise good, but first kind of off-race I would say I've seen with Eli this
22:52year.
22:53Been that close in.
22:54Uh-oh.
22:54It is.
22:55Web coming back up pronto.
22:57Two turns to go.
22:58Now one turn left.
22:59Game is chicken.
23:00Let's see what happens.
23:01Here it is.
23:03Web gets it done.
23:05Sixth.
23:06To be honest with you, that's why I love Cooper Webb.
23:08The guy sitting there fighting for the position.
23:10This is for sixth place.
23:11He's got a number one plate.
23:12That's why you could never count this dude out.
23:14He fights for it all.
23:15Yeah, he lost a ton of ground on the championship again, but still threw everything he had at it.
23:20Not hanging his head completely on the racetrack.
23:23But the celebration is on again.
23:25The Lawrence count.
23:30Hunter Lawrence.
23:32Three out of the last four.
23:33He's been on top.
23:35Keep busy.
