00:00:23Welcome back to the final race of the day at this MXGP of Andalusia.
00:00:28Just outside of Almonte, South-West Spain, what a Grand Prix we have had.
00:00:33We've had everything in 1.25, 2.50, European Championship, MX2.
00:00:39What will MXGP Race 2 serve up for the final dish of the day?
00:00:48We're about to find out. 30 minutes plus 2 laps to come to round out what has been an amazing
00:00:54weekend here in Spain.
00:01:00MXGP riders out on their sighting lap, what is a very challenging racetrack.
00:01:04It's got some pace in it as well. It's got some character to it as well.
00:01:08So is this racetrack. Don't the riders know it?
00:01:15A bit of work going on there down at first turn just to get everybody over that foxhole shot line.
00:01:20It's starting to dry out now and drying out from underneath.
00:01:24So those edges probably getting a little bit sharper, that base getting a bit firmer.
00:01:28Okay, the temperature's probably dropped a little bit since before MX2 Race 2 started.
00:01:33So in the last hour or so, before that, the sun was out. It was loud and proud.
00:01:38It was starting to feel pretty warm just as it was in race one.
00:01:43But this racetrack, 1,700 meters long, is about to get even rougher for the heaviest, the fastest bikes, the
00:01:52premier class MXGP as they prepare to go out for their second race of the afternoon.
00:02:03The first race had a bit of everything as well in MXGP.
00:02:12And if you weren't with us earlier, we are about to give you the highlights from that first MXGP race,
00:02:17which was pretty impressive.
00:02:22Let's take a look at it now.
00:02:29In MXGP race one, they held the gate a very long time.
00:02:33It was Tom Vielle, five gates over, who grabbed the foxhole shot.
00:02:37But then there was carnage coming out of the first turn.
00:02:39Ballandran and Geisser came together, took out Fernandes and Iago Kietz and a couple of other riders.
00:02:46Vielle led the way. Lucas Koonen was in second position.
00:02:50Herlings just behind him in third. We thought we were going to get a right showdown and we did.
00:02:54Koonen pounced first. He went to the right of Vielle.
00:02:57Herlings thought he'd go to the left and then switch behind.
00:02:59Koonen found his way to the lead.
00:03:01And all of a sudden we had a new leader on the opening lap.
00:03:04Herlings couldn't quite find his way past his teammate.
00:03:07He took too long to find his way by.
00:03:09Eventually though on lap two, lap three, he did go past the number 16 and into second.
00:03:17Maxime Renaud found his way past Adamo as he moved into fifth place around lap seven.
00:03:23And then here, Fevre finding his way past the number 16 at Vielle to move into third around about the
00:03:31halfway stage.
00:03:33Tim Geiser then got in on the act, muscled his way past Adamo as he moved into sixth position, which
00:03:40is where he would stay.
00:03:42And in the latter stages, Renaud with three laps to go found his way into fourth with that move on
00:03:47Vielle.
00:03:49Vielle eventually coming home in fifth. Lucas Koonen though, no one saw which way he went.
00:03:53A comfortable winner over Jeffrey Herlings to the tune of 20 seconds in race one.
00:03:59Herlings and Fevre, your top three.
00:04:07What have we got in store for race two?
00:04:09Well, Lisa Layla was down on the grid a few moments ago.
00:04:11She caught up with Maxime Renaud, Monster Energy Yamaha factory MXGP.
00:04:14He finished fourth in race one, sandwiched between two Frenchies.
00:04:17Roman Fevre in third, Tom Vielle in fifth.
00:04:22Okay, we're almost ready for the final race of the day, MXGP race two.
00:04:27But before we get things underway, let's catch up with Monster Energy Yamaha factory MXGP rider, Maxime Renaud.
00:04:34Maxime, third, just in the qualifying race.
00:04:35You were really good in that first race, kind of held it together, P5.
00:04:39How are you feeling?
00:04:41Yeah, I mean, it was a solid race.
00:04:44A bit of a quiet beginning, you know, I was like struggling to find my rhythm a little bit
00:04:48and had a massive arm pump and then I untied a little bit towards the end, could come back, finished
00:04:53P4.
00:04:54So it was like really solid.
00:04:56We're looking forward to that second moto, try to ride smooth from the beginning
00:05:00and obviously like try to make a big push in the end because physically it's really tough out there.
00:05:04I mean, I was going to say, is it quite a difficult track?
00:05:07I mean, if you're pushing, pushing, pushing, does it bite you back?
00:05:10Yeah, surely it's, you know, it's sand and it's like really sharp bumps.
00:05:14So you need to really ride the track and not fight it.
00:05:16And I think that's going to be really the key for that second moto.
00:05:19So we're going to try to get a good start and execute that.
00:05:22Have a good race. Thank you, Maxime. Good luck to the guys.
00:05:25It's time for the final race of the day, MXGP race two.
00:05:33Before we hit the gate drop then, here's the calendar.
00:05:40Switzerland next week, week off.
00:05:43Two in the Italy region, Sardinia at Rio de Sardo, of course.
00:05:47And then Trentino, just north of Lake Garda.
00:05:50We get a month off, then we've got three in a row.
00:05:52France, Germany, Latvia, week off.
00:05:53Italy, Portugal, straight on a plane Monday morning to South Africa.
00:05:56Week off, three in a row.
00:05:58Fox Hills, Czech Republic, Locket, Lomel.
00:06:02Week off, two in a row, week off.
00:06:04Three in a row, week off.
00:06:06Back to France, for Erne.
00:06:09Monster Energy FI motor across the nations.
00:06:11Which is an idea of the travel plan.
00:06:15Here we are though in Andalusia, Almonte.
00:06:18Brand new venue.
00:06:21It's been a great atmosphere all day.
00:06:25Today.
00:06:26All of yesterday as well.
00:06:31Is that the man from Almonte?
00:06:32I think it is, isn't it?
00:06:34Lucas Kunin lines up on pole position.
00:06:37Having won the qualifying race on Saturday.
00:06:39Tom Biel second.
00:06:40Maxi Renaud goes to line third.
00:06:41Third head, Roman Fevre.
00:06:42Calvin Blahn, Andrea Adamo.
00:06:44Mattia Guadagnini.
00:06:45Tim Geisser.
00:06:50And behind them, Ben Watson, Albie Ferrato.
00:06:55Hurlings goes to line 11th for the second week in a row.
00:06:57Not picking up points in the qualifying race.
00:07:01Argentina.
00:07:02And now here.
00:07:03Kai DeWolf back from injury, of course.
00:07:04If you're joining us for the first time today.
00:07:07Kai DeWolf 10th in race one.
00:07:10Ruben Fernandez picked himself up off the turn in race one.
00:07:13The turn, first turn, he got back to 12th, which was pretty decent.
00:07:18But will not be featuring on the podium this weekend with a 12th in race one.
00:07:23You can almost be certain of that.
00:07:28Lucas Kunin impressive in the first race.
00:07:32The Red Bull KTM rider focused ahead of race two.
00:07:35Coming into this weekend.
00:07:37Three riders had led races in Argentina.
00:07:41Roman Fevre 12 laps.
00:07:42Tom Biel 11.
00:07:44Jeffrey Hurlings led 10 laps.
00:07:45Lucas Kunin led all 19 in race one.
00:07:48He'll be looking to do the same again in race two.
00:07:51Maxi Renaud hoping to get on the podium here this weekend.
00:07:53He was fourth in the first race.
00:07:55Can he be solid in race two?
00:07:59Or will that man right there, who was third in the race,
00:08:02in race one?
00:08:02Roman Fevre, the defending champion,
00:08:03find himself on the podium once again.
00:08:05In Argentina, two weeks ago,
00:08:07it was a Hurlings, Fevre, Biel podium.
00:08:10The first race finished.
00:08:11Lucas Kunin, Jeffrey Hurlings,
00:08:13Roman Fevre, Maxi Renaud, Tom Biel, Tim Geiser
00:08:15in race one here in Andalusia.
00:08:18There is the Honda HRC Petronas rider Jeffrey Hurlings.
00:08:23Shell shot from his defeat of Lucas Kunin,
00:08:28who just walked away convincingly.
00:08:32In race one, Tom Biel hung it out there for the first eight
00:08:36or nine laps in third.
00:08:38Then for another sort of six or seven laps in fourth.
00:08:41Maxi Renaud was just too good for him though in the latter stages.
00:08:44Pushed him back to fifth in the final stages.
00:08:48Tim Geiser works his way to sixth by the time the chequered flag fell.
00:08:56But we heard Maxi Renaud just say I'm open to go.
00:08:58How tough, how challenging this race track is.
00:09:01So if they felt it in race one,
00:09:03they're definitely going to feel it here in race two.
00:09:07That's the run, 80 metres down to turn one.
00:09:13That sweeping left-hand turn.
00:09:17Immediately back past pit lane, down towards turn two in the grandstand.
00:09:23And from there, it's a bomb sight.
00:09:26Holes everywhere.
00:09:27Deep berms, deep ruts.
00:09:29It's almost mission impossible.
00:09:32Flight racing, 15 seconds.
00:09:34Board up for the final time this weekend.
00:09:37Who will it be that gets the jump?
00:09:40Will it come from here?
00:09:41A few positions over to the right.
00:09:42Devra chomping at the bit.
00:09:50Gates about to drop here in Andalusia.
00:09:55Oh, rider down.
00:09:59What's that, Watson?
00:10:04Oria, Oliver leads.
00:10:07Coming through turn two.
00:10:10The number 83.
00:10:12Gabriel SS 24.
00:10:14It was Watson that went down.
00:10:17Oria, Oliver.
00:10:18Well, if this GP couldn't have got any better.
00:10:21How about that?
00:10:22The home rider leading MXGP for the first time.
00:10:27Adamo second.
00:10:28Lucas Kunen third.
00:10:29Hurlings four.
00:10:30Valandra and Finn.
00:10:31And the green Kawasaki there just behind.
00:10:33In fact, Voss is way down the inside.
00:10:35Just as he did in that same place in the qualifying race on Saturday.
00:10:40Fevre up to fifth already.
00:10:45But Oliver.
00:10:48Talk about dream scenarios.
00:10:51We all know what happened within the family earlier on this year.
00:10:56And the change of the number and all the rest of that.
00:10:58But.
00:11:00Home Grand Prix.
00:11:01Oria, Oliver.
00:11:03Who was 28, 26 in the first race.
00:11:09Obviously had an issue.
00:11:11Leading here in race two.
00:11:13Frantic action going on behind him.
00:11:16There's Valandra just tucking in behind Fevre.
00:11:20But Oria, Oliver just saying, you know what?
00:11:22Just give me one lap at home in front of my home fans.
00:11:26I will take that and cherish that for the rest of my life.
00:11:33Here's the final turn.
00:11:35Coonan already up to second.
00:11:40Hurlings third.
00:11:41There he is in the background.
00:11:42Is it a case of deja vu between those two?
00:11:45Is it a simple thing?
00:11:47There's just.
00:11:49Some setting changes to make things a little bit more comfortable.
00:11:52A little bit better.
00:11:53Quicker.
00:11:54All round performance.
00:11:55For Honda and the bullet.
00:11:58Or is Coonan going to be too good again today?
00:12:00Fevre.
00:12:02Charging down the inside of Adamo.
00:12:06No way through.
00:12:07The Italian holds firm.
00:12:11The noise for Oria, Oliver.
00:12:14As he leads Lucas Coonan around here in Andalucía.
00:12:19He said it's a home GP for the Spanish rider.
00:12:22But he.
00:12:24He's quite a hike from here.
00:12:25Right up in the North East.
00:12:26North of Barcelona.
00:12:27Girona.
00:12:32But even still, that support.
00:12:35Valuable.
00:12:37Coonan finds his way past through the waves.
00:12:40Just as he did in race one.
00:12:42Leads.
00:12:42On this opening lap.
00:12:45Officially.
00:12:53But Oria, Oliver.
00:12:54The pressure off of having to carry the weight of the nation as a lead Spaniard.
00:12:59Oh.
00:12:59Coonan stalls.
00:13:01Fires it back into life.
00:13:02Just dabbed the back brake.
00:13:04Almost came to a halt.
00:13:06Heart in the mouth there for the number five.
00:13:08Almost allows the number 83 of Oria, Oliver.
00:13:11Way back into the lead.
00:13:12Hurling's right there as well.
00:13:20Watch this.
00:13:21Just into the turn.
00:13:22He stabbed the back brake.
00:13:22And all of a sudden.
00:13:23Thing comes to a.
00:13:25A roll.
00:13:26But he had his hand on the clutch.
00:13:28Was able to freewheel.
00:13:30Dabbed the electric start.
00:13:33And it was as cool as that.
00:13:36Oria, Oliver.
00:13:37Just over a second behind.
00:13:38Then 3.7 seconds behind your race leader.
00:13:42Hurling's.
00:13:42Then Adamo.
00:13:43Fevre.
00:13:43Fernandes up to six.
00:13:44So two Spaniards inside the top six.
00:13:46This time around.
00:13:47Ballander in seven.
00:13:48Geiser up to eight.
00:13:49Renault nine.
00:13:49Vial ten.
00:13:50Ferrato eleven.
00:13:51Jonas.
00:13:52Is in twelfth place.
00:13:54As Hurling's looking to find a way past.
00:13:56Oria, Oliver.
00:13:57Sooner rather than later.
00:14:05See you, Lucas.
00:14:09He's gone.
00:14:15You cannot afford to give him that kind of space.
00:14:23Even on a track as rough as this.
00:14:25Hurling's goes by.
00:14:25Oliver.
00:14:26He moves in the second.
00:14:38Great start.
00:14:40Sean Simpson's team.
00:14:41Gabriel SS 24.
00:14:49Damo fancies a bit of Oliver as well.
00:14:52For a top three.
00:14:54At the moment.
00:14:55Koonan last time around.
00:14:561.44.
00:14:575.25.
00:15:01Is he going to go quicker this time around?
00:15:04Race one.
00:15:05It was a 1.41.
00:15:064.11.
00:15:1242.8 this time around.
00:15:13Hurling's a 44.6.
00:15:15Already 3.9 seconds behind the Belgian.
00:15:17Oliver down the third.
00:15:19Adamo.
00:15:20Breathing down his neck.
00:15:21Less than a second further back.
00:15:22Then Fevre.
00:15:23Also.
00:15:24Within touching distance.
00:15:26Of a top three at the moment.
00:15:28But can't allow Kunan and Hurling's to disappear down the track.
00:15:32Which is what they're already doing at the moment.
00:15:35There's Fevre in the background.
00:15:38Trying to get alongside Adamo.
00:15:40Oh.
00:15:41Audacious.
00:15:42At its finest.
00:15:45Did not deserve to go around the outside there.
00:15:48But he did.
00:15:48He mustered something from somewhere.
00:15:51Fevre.
00:15:51Up to fourth.
00:15:54Talk about.
00:15:55Stunned mullet.
00:15:56That's what Adamo was there.
00:15:58He just had no idea it was coming.
00:16:04Fevre means business.
00:16:09Just commanded the turn.
00:16:11And that was inch perfect timing.
00:16:13Because.
00:16:14Once Adamo knew he was there.
00:16:16He had to back off.
00:16:31So Roman Fevre then.
00:16:34Finds himself in fourth place.
00:16:36Oriol Oliver still on lap three.
00:16:38In third position.
00:16:40Remember he led a race at Mattelie Basin last year.
00:16:43And then threw it away with.
00:16:44What is it on the final lap?
00:16:48Didn't quite get his race win.
00:16:50On that occasion.
00:16:54But here he is with the big boys.
00:16:57And mixing it with them as well.
00:17:03Takes a wider sweep into turn one.
00:17:08Bit of a smoother run.
00:17:09Through the turn.
00:17:12But Oliver in dreamland.
00:17:13Guy set up to seventh.
00:17:14Found his way.
00:17:15Pass for Landrun.
00:17:16Vial up to ninth.
00:17:17He's found his way.
00:17:18Passed Maxime Renaud.
00:17:19Who is now down in tenth place.
00:17:20Who is now down in tenth place.
00:17:22De Wolf up to 13.
00:17:26So a lap a go.
00:17:27There you go.
00:17:34Vial.
00:17:35Round the outside.
00:17:37Of Renaud.
00:17:38Outside.
00:17:39Controlled the inside just about.
00:17:41There you go.
00:17:42That was Vial.
00:17:43Up in tonight.
00:17:56Outside.
00:17:57Going to work better here.
00:17:58For Fevre.
00:17:59Or it should have done.
00:18:02Still got good speed though.
00:18:06The Spaniard.
00:18:07Oliver.
00:18:08Keeps him at bay.
00:18:09For another few corners at least.
00:18:21How tough is this track.
00:18:24Absolutely brutal.
00:18:30Couple of tugs on the roll off there.
00:18:33For Fevre.
00:18:35Adamo.
00:18:36Not happy that he.
00:18:37Got blitzed.
00:18:38A lap or so ago.
00:18:40He got to find his way back.
00:18:41Past Fevre into fourth.
00:18:43If he can.
00:18:46Fevre on the podium at the moment.
00:18:48Third overall.
00:18:49Even if he stays where he is.
00:18:50It's going to be Coonan.
00:18:52Mr. Perfect on 50.
00:18:53Hurlings.
00:18:5444 for two second places.
00:18:56Two 22s.
00:18:58And a 3-4.
00:18:5930 and an 18 for Fevre.
00:19:01We'll see him on the third step of the podium.
00:19:03With 38 points.
00:19:06Adamo.
00:19:06Just wants to take a scalp.
00:19:09In the form of the defending champ.
00:19:12Fevre.
00:19:13Trying to switch things up a little bit.
00:19:16Different lines on the racetrack.
00:19:17Sun disappearing behind the clouds.
00:19:21Certainly make visibility a little bit easier.
00:19:24Not so blinding in the eyes.
00:19:25This time of the afternoon.
00:19:2720 past four almost.
00:19:3020 past four almost.
00:19:30Local time.
00:19:312.
00:19:311.
00:19:382.
00:19:391.
00:19:401.
00:19:412.
00:19:431.
00:19:452.
00:19:452.
00:19:462.
00:19:463.
00:19:461.
00:19:472.
00:19:517.
00:19:542.
00:19:583.
00:19:593.
00:20:00at his turn 10.
00:20:09D'Armo not going anywhere.
00:20:12Geisse not going anywhere either.
00:20:13About 2.5, 2.8 seconds behind the Italian.
00:20:18Geisse in 6th place.
00:20:22It's Oriol Oliver here in 3rd place.
00:20:25Team owner Sean Simpson
00:20:28at Gabriel SS KTM Factory Juniors.
00:20:33Sean Simpson down there in pit lane with Lisa Leyland.
00:20:37Let's hear what he has to say
00:20:39about Oriol Oliver's performance so far.
00:20:44Sean Simpson, how cool was it to see rookie Oriol Oliver
00:20:47up at the sharp end getting that start?
00:20:50Yeah, it was brilliant.
00:20:51We've been expecting it to be honest
00:20:53because he's so light, the 450 is very powerful
00:20:56and we've just been waiting for one of these black plays.
00:21:00So, no, pretty cool.
00:21:01It's home GP as well.
00:21:04Surprised at how much he's managing to hang in there
00:21:06in front of Febra.
00:21:07Still in 3rd place.
00:21:08Hopefully build up a bit of a gap
00:21:10and see if we can ride this one out for a good result.
00:21:13Sean, I was going to say, just how difficult is it
00:21:15for a privateer team to mix it up with the big factory teams like that?
00:21:19It's a huge task, but we're giving it a good go.
00:21:23Oriol's definitely a talented rider.
00:21:25We've seen that last year.
00:21:26We wanted to enter into MXGP.
00:21:30You know, the difference between the factory teams and ours is huge,
00:21:33but it's still man and machine.
00:21:35And if we can try and fine tune all the little parts
00:21:38and give him the best, then he can show his potential.
00:21:40And that's what's happening today.
00:21:42So, hopefully this is the first of many.
00:21:44Best of luck to the team.
00:21:45Thanks, Sean.
00:21:47Oriol just getting passed there by Roman Febvre.
00:21:50He's getting ganged up now by Andrea Adamo.
00:21:53So, Febvre up to 3rd.
00:21:59Oriol, 4th.
00:22:00Get a replay of that in a moment.
00:22:03But, uh,
00:22:04Tim Geiser closing in as well.
00:22:06He put his fastest lap at the race in last time around.
00:22:081.45, 2.56.
00:22:10Here he is coming in the view now
00:22:11on the Monster in his Yamaha.
00:22:13But, Oliver dealing with Andrea Adamo.
00:22:15Sandwiched between two world champs
00:22:17with a five-time champ behind the Italian.
00:22:2317 and a half minutes plus two laps to go.
00:22:25Six laps in the books.
00:22:32Nervous look over the shoulder.
00:22:34In terms of being asked there, Sean Simpson,
00:22:36what's it like as a privateer running and mixing it with the big boys?
00:22:39It's a lot easier on 4.50s.
00:22:412.50s where the high tuning comes in.
00:22:43You can get away with a, you know, a decent 4.50.
00:22:47Adamo doubles his way down the inside.
00:22:49Passes Oliver.
00:22:51Moves into fourth place.
00:22:59And as Sean Simpson said, let's get a gap.
00:23:01Let's see if we can ride this one out for a good result.
00:23:03He's got Geiser behind me now.
00:23:05Tim Geiser in sixth.
00:23:06Oliver in fifth on the 83.
00:23:20The guy said just trying to dance around.
00:23:23Switches it up.
00:23:24Moves across the left.
00:23:25Oh, gets perfect drive.
00:23:26Up through that wave section.
00:23:28Goes past the Spaniard.
00:23:29And it's a fifth position.
00:23:37Meanwhile, Lucas Kunen.
00:23:3810.6 seconds clear at the head of the field.
00:23:42Walk in the park for the Belgian today, it seems.
00:23:44On his Red Bull KTM.
00:23:47No one.
00:23:50Not even close.
00:23:54Geiser taking a quick look across.
00:23:55Wants to know what's going on elsewhere on the track.
00:23:58What are the gaps, the margins.
00:24:01Start looking around like that just to try and gap people.
00:24:04Generally means you're feeling pretty good.
00:24:05He's down his way past Oliver.
00:24:07For fifth.
00:24:09Going after Adamo again this weekend.
00:24:11This time for fourth.
00:24:16And Adamo's time at 45.9.
00:24:1846.4 for Geiser.
00:24:20In traffic.
00:24:21P5 chase.
00:24:22That's the message.
00:24:27But how good has Adamo been?
00:24:30In his move to 4.50.
00:24:33Eighth overall in the opening round.
00:24:34He got an eleventh and a seventh.
00:24:35Equaled that with a seventh in race one here.
00:24:37But Geiser looking just like he's too good.
00:24:40Exact same part of the race track in race one.
00:24:43And he makes the move again.
00:24:44After a mistake from Adamo.
00:24:48Still got work to do.
00:24:50Slots down the inside.
00:24:51Geiser now up in the fourth.
00:24:53Bit more urgency from the Slovenian this time around.
00:25:04Volandran starting to bear down on Oliver now as well.
00:25:11Volandran got duffed up on the opening lap.
00:25:13Was in the mix.
00:25:15Got shuffled and reshuffled.
00:25:16He's now starting to climb his way back.
00:25:21He's found his way past Oliver.
00:25:22So he's already up into sixth place.
00:25:34Damo losing contact with Tim Geiser.
00:25:37He's going after Febvre.
00:25:38He's only two seconds adrift.
00:25:40Febvre was quicker last time around.
00:25:41But there is the Frenchman.
00:25:45So once again we've got a situation where the rider with two silver medals.
00:25:49One from MX2, one from MXGP.
00:25:51Lucas Kunin leading.
00:25:53A five-time champ.
00:25:54A two-time champ.
00:25:55A five-time champ.
00:25:57And a one-time champ in Adamo in fifth place.
00:26:03And cruising as well.
00:26:05Eleven and a half seconds clear.
00:26:11Vial in eighth place.
00:26:12Fernandez nine.
00:26:13Renault ten.
00:26:13DeWolf eleven.
00:26:16Watson up to 19th.
00:26:17Having fallen hard down the start straight at the start of the race.
00:26:32Geiser.
00:26:35Sights locked on Febvre ahead of him.
00:26:41Definitely looks more energised and more attacking this time around.
00:26:47Does the Slovenian in race two.
00:27:02Adamo just sitting back.
00:27:03Leaving these two giants of the sport.
00:27:07Just to get on with it.
00:27:10Slight mistake twice in the same corner for Roman Febvre.
00:27:18Who doesn't look as comfortable as Geiser.
00:27:21At the moment.
00:27:22Looks over his shoulder nervously as well.
00:27:28Geiser tries to set him up around the outside.
00:27:31Yes, it's a long way around.
00:27:32But at some point you get better drive.
00:27:34Less holes.
00:27:35But maybe just a little too wide.
00:27:37At this stage of the race.
00:27:39For that line to work out.
00:27:42Nine laps complete.
00:27:52Play.
00:27:52Bumps.
00:27:54Have fun basically.
00:27:56For Roman Febvre.
00:27:57That's the message.
00:27:58Play.
00:27:58Work.
00:27:59Wheel tap.
00:27:59Double.
00:28:00All those kind of things.
00:28:01Easier said than done.
00:28:02When you're under the cosh.
00:28:04As he is.
00:28:05Geiser.
00:28:06Doubles his way through.
00:28:08Well, I tell you what.
00:28:09That looks a lot closer than it needed to be.
00:28:13Geiser thought he had an opportunity there.
00:28:15Oh!
00:28:17Febvre.
00:28:18Straight out the front door.
00:28:19He's winded.
00:28:21Oh!
00:28:21Tell you what.
00:28:22He came down with a thud as well.
00:28:23Didn't he?
00:28:24Out of third place.
00:28:29He'll pick himself up.
00:28:32But...
00:28:33Oh!
00:28:34Just trying to get his air back.
00:28:43Didn't look comfortable.
00:28:45With Geiser behind him.
00:28:47Made a couple of mistakes the lap before.
00:28:49Through turn eleven.
00:28:50There was a couple of stabs.
00:28:53And then going into turn three.
00:28:55Turn four.
00:28:55Round there.
00:28:56And then all of a sudden, out of nowhere.
00:29:02That's going to blow in the hole in the championship.
00:29:04Even at round two.
00:29:10Megan.
00:29:13Making a run for it.
00:29:14Make sure he's okay.
00:29:15I think he'll pick himself up.
00:29:17But it was a hard hit.
00:29:20Not sure if he caught the bike on the way through.
00:29:23Maybe a handlebar in the rib or something like that.
00:29:25Watch this here.
00:29:27Closely.
00:29:27Gets through the turn.
00:29:28And then all of a sudden.
00:29:30Just there.
00:29:31Folds the front.
00:29:32And then.
00:29:33Yeah.
00:29:34May have caught the handlebar.
00:29:35This will tell us more.
00:29:38Yes.
00:29:39Right across.
00:29:40The right rib cage.
00:29:41Would have been.
00:29:43Bent double over the handlebar there.
00:29:48Slow to pick himself up.
00:29:50At worst.
00:29:51That's probably going to be a rib injury.
00:29:53Or two.
00:29:58Tough luck.
00:30:00For the defending champ.
00:30:03Out of third.
00:30:05Out of the race.
00:30:07Out of podium contention.
00:30:11Quick look up at the timing screen then.
00:30:12Kunen.
00:30:13Hurlings.
00:30:14Geiser.
00:30:14Are you going to be your top three?
00:30:1650.
00:30:1744.
00:30:1835.
00:30:18Adamo on 32.
00:30:19Same as Vial.
00:30:27еж recapt,
00:30:28Medical flags there.
00:30:30As Roman Fevera just tries to.
00:30:34Aliens.
00:30:35Orientate himself.
00:30:39Fernandes eighth.
00:30:41Honda HRC Patronas.
00:30:44so honda have all three riders herlings second vial fifth fernandez eight all inside the top 10
00:31:04fernandez a tough start to the weekend wasn't feeling well stomach issues friday saturday
00:31:11went down in the first turn in race one a better start in race two he was taught in that
00:31:16opener
00:31:19currently eight at the moment two two point three seconds behind orio oliver the lead spaniard at
00:31:25the moment just here gabriel ss 24 take a look at the start once more
00:31:34orio oliver get dead center of the gate next to jonas that was watson going down
00:31:42adamo thought he got it but look at that orio oliver got on the gas earlier half a bike in
00:31:48it
00:31:49for his first mxgp black plate
00:32:01here he is in seventh position
00:32:08argentina 14th and 16th
00:32:16no points in race one here
00:32:20did start in around about 12th place
00:32:26in that first race but a black plate the foxhole shot led
00:32:33coonan found his way by early on on the first official lap hurling's a lap later
00:32:43then fevra on lap six fevra out of the race now though after that big hit
00:32:51caught up in the motorcycle
00:32:54kaida wolf a steady return to action
00:33:00for his first ride in mxgp
00:33:05not a hundred percent fit or race ready but got to start somewhere got to pick up some points
00:33:12and this weekend stays where he is going to be picking up 23 world championship points
00:33:19yeah just the ribs taking a hard hit good to see fevra on his feet
00:33:32that was my mom back in the day she said if you can lean right lean left there's nothing wrong
00:33:36with it
00:33:37but that was a hard hit i think we're all told that as kids get up get back on with
00:33:41it
00:33:44but there was some speed and that was an abrupt halt
00:33:48impact on the ribcage
00:33:49on the handlebars
00:33:54hopefully just winded at best fernandez has found his way past oliver
00:34:01moves into seventh de wolf looking to go around him as well
00:34:05good effort though from the 83 de wolf moves by into eighth
00:34:2011 and a half seconds up the track
00:34:2413 laps in the books red bull ktm factory racings
00:34:26is lucas koonan
00:34:34won the qualifying race on saturday
00:34:42victorious in race one leading comfortably here in race two
00:34:56and it literally has been one of those performances from the belgian here in andalus here
00:35:12barely put a foot wrong
00:35:20got the qualifying win in portugal round seven last year
00:35:23and followed that up with a 1-1 that weekend round seven
00:35:31did the same in finland round 13
00:35:38for lanron finding his way past tom vial as he moves into fifth place
00:35:52it'll be the first time this year
00:35:54watch
00:35:55just into the right-hander
00:35:58the hour gave him a wide berth
00:36:00for lanron on the red bull ducati
00:36:03moving up another place
00:36:04top five now
00:36:15tougher grand prix this week for tom vial
00:36:17came in leading the championship after the qualifying race yesterday
00:36:24that's why he's in red again
00:36:26but that red plate will switch to the red bull ktm of lucas koonan
00:36:31he will move to 102 points
00:36:33hurlings will be on 94
00:36:35vial will drop to third on 90
00:36:38fevre
00:36:40will be fourth on 75
00:36:42for now
00:36:52we said it would be one of those seasons
00:36:54and we're already getting snippets and a glimpse
00:37:00of what we can expect in 2026
00:37:03but jeffrey hurlings
00:37:05not often we say it
00:37:08been given a sand riding lesson on
00:37:11inverted commas home soil if you like
00:37:13what he grew up with
00:37:16by lucas koonan
00:37:24two second place finishes
00:37:27this weekend
00:37:29is the best he can muster
00:37:32had that crash as well in term one in the qualifying race
00:37:38didn't hear of any problems as a result of that so you assume that he's 100% coming in
00:37:44but just not good enough to go with koonan this weekend
00:37:52iago kirtz and guadagnini the mrt racing beta moves up in the 13th place
00:38:09watson just found his way past jose butron he moves into 16th place got hogmo further up the track
00:38:14probably a bit too far though with what the time we've got left
00:38:19de wolfe has found his way past fernandez he moves into seventh
00:38:33so the spaniel now just starting to feel the heat maybe
00:38:38here's how he did it look outside inside cut back
00:38:41nipped up the inside
00:38:43fernandez over the side of the berm
00:38:45nowhere to go
00:38:48de wolfe now up into that seventh place
00:38:50four and a half seconds down on fiel
00:38:52can he close in on the frenchman
00:38:54and the other frenchman maxime renault looking to do something about fernandez as well
00:39:00as he tries to move into eighth place
00:39:06couldn't hold a tight line decided to go the longer way around they both merge into the same line here
00:39:10in turn two though
00:39:18fernandez defends that inside in turn three but renault comes in clutch in hand for the gas
00:39:25puts the spooks on the number 17 and he does move into that eighth place
00:39:41de wolfe just here at number 74 ahead of the monster energy yamaha chasing down the nastan husvana that would
00:39:47be for seventh
00:39:55pj getting in on the act
00:40:00and ferrato he was fastest in morning warm-up this morning the 303 on the fantic factory machine alberto ferrato
00:40:11got a feel for ruben fernandez he'll try and defend as best he can but not easy when you come
00:40:17in and you've been sick
00:40:20get dehydrated then you try to rehydrate yourself
00:40:23there's a fine balance what you can and can't eat what you can keep up and down
00:40:30but paul jonas will lean on the spaniard as he drops into the
00:40:37left hander just before the penultimate turn so it's all changed then jonas up tonight
00:40:49tough gp for ruben fernandez this weekend renault eight jonas night
00:40:56tell you what it was a bit loose on takeoff there wasn't he uh jonas
00:41:08for rato trying to close down fernandez as well
00:41:15see if he can get himself inside the top 10
00:41:2020th and a 15th
00:41:22in argentina ferrato 13 in race one can he break top 10. two to go for lucas kunan
00:41:31who's been absolutely majestic and mercurial
00:41:38outstanding sublime sensational
00:41:48definitely pulled the pin hasn't he thrown the grenade into the mix in mxgp at the second round
00:42:01just the way he's done it just so cool
00:42:20said after the first race by the time we get down to his post-race interview with lisa leyland
00:42:26probably look like he hasn't broken a sweat barely out of breath exactly what we got
00:42:31say we've got the circuit this kind of condition as it was pretty much in race one it's pretty impressive
00:42:40watson 16. just getting lapped there not helped by the fact that he went down at the start here's
00:42:47renault challenging kaida wolf looked like he was uh wiping his goggles
00:42:54of dirt well i'll tell you what he chucked it in there didn't he renault now up in the seventh
00:43:08just letting the new kid on the block that i'm that he ain't no pushover
00:43:17into the final lap lucas kunan
00:43:26not a speck of dirt on him one lap focus till the end
00:43:47we come to a new circuit
00:43:50and it's always down to who can learn in the quickest well not the most difficult circuit to learn
00:43:56in flat trim you know 15 corners you know where the jumps are the waves you get that dialed pretty
00:44:02much within a couple laps in effort in uh free practice but then when it chews up like this it's
00:44:09down to you the feedback you give to your mechanic to the team your line choice of course how you
00:44:15feel
00:44:15in these conditions a lot of riders talking about how you know a word they like to use at the
00:44:20moment
00:44:20inverted commas sketchy a track can be well by that they just mean bumps basically but there's hard
00:44:27edges in there there's soft edges and then ruts and whatever that's motocross but how you cover the
00:44:33ground the most efficiently the most effectively is key to winning the race and that's exactly what
00:44:39lucas kunan has done this weekend he's made it look so very easy salutes the fans that are left here
00:44:48as he drops downhill for the final time off this step down
00:44:53and again here to the fans lining the fence double single no need to triple his way in he's got
00:45:00a 15
00:45:01second buffer over the bullet but what a sensational display of riding this has been from lucas kunan here
00:45:09this weekend goes one one here wins his first grand prix of 2026 he will take the championship lead
00:45:17and the red plate as we head to round three in switzerland
00:45:2431 podiums 17 grand prix victories now for the number five
00:45:35wins 38 39 in race trim coming here this weekend and to cap it off it was another perfect weekend
00:45:43winning
00:45:43the qualifying race and both races on sunday
00:45:50and the fastest lap in race one as well doesn't get any better than that does it
00:46:11but it's going to be a first podium in blue for tim geiser of slovenia
00:46:25and how tough was this track probably don't ask lucas kunan that question because
00:46:29he just danced around like it was a flat track but everybody else certainly went through the uh the
00:46:35suffer fest if you like including calvin villano who brings his red bull ducati home in fifth position
00:46:43his pre-race interview with lisa where he said and i like to suffer
00:47:01and i like to have to stop february because he's broken from one side
00:47:02everybody over the line feather though that was the big news
00:47:07the big story of race two fevere out
00:47:12roundabout lap eight whilst being challenged for third by Tim Geiser

00:58:13plate to round three we'll talk to the top three in a moment here's the highlights of race two
00:58:16the second mxgp race ben watson came together just a few yards out of the stargate he went down
00:58:29but around the outside home hero for a moment number 83 orio oliver with his first black plate
00:58:36his first foxhole shot in the premier class he got to lead for almost two laps as well before lucas
00:58:41kunan came by on his red bull ktm kunan though was in a class of his own all weekend long
00:58:49and he eventually disappeared herlings found his way past as well as he moved in the second
00:58:53oliver stayed in third for a few laps after that
00:58:59then we had this battle late on in the race geyser finding his way past fernandez
00:59:06as he charged his way towards the front roman febvre got up the inside of oliver
00:59:11that was for third and then febvre came under attack and then this happened went down hard
00:59:17bar in the ribs possibly he was down for a couple of laps he did walk away eventually but geyser
00:59:23then took
00:59:23that and moved into third position volander found his way past the 16 of the vial
00:59:30that put him into fifth that's where he would stay but no on a match for lucas kunan

01:02:17didn't have anything for lucas kunin this weekend he was just on another level but how crucial have
01:02:25those qualifying points been or lack of points been for jeffrey hurlings so far this year two
01:02:32quality races he's failed to score in both of them the gap between him and kunin eight points at the
01:02:37moment it would be slightly closer than that we don't know how many he could have scored but it
01:02:41doesn't matter lucas kunin on top at the moment 102 points he went one one one here saturday and sunday
