00:00:20Hello everybody, welcome back to the Bariloche MX racetrack here just outside of Bariloche in
00:00:26the Southwestern Argentina for the opening round of the FI Motocross World Championship and the YPF MXGP of Argentina the
00:00:34final race of the weekend is almost upon us MXGP race two this decides the overall Grand Prix classification of
00:00:44course Tim Geisser is the only three-time winner in Argentina that's in the history as well and all of
00:00:50those coming in the Vichelangostura not far from here 2016 17 and 2022
00:00:56two-time winners include Pauls Jonas back-to-back in 2017 and 18 Jeffrey Hurlings in 2016 and 18 so
00:01:04he has one in each class Jorge Prado has two victories back in 2019 and 2024 Kaida Wolf back-to
00:01:11-back in 24 and 25 as well
00:01:15who will it be that stands on the top step of the podium here this weekend though
00:01:19Pekka Verkonen 41 years ago was the first ever winner on a Kajiva in a 125 class at Salter in
00:01:261985
00:01:26Davey Strybos followed that up a year later on a 125 Kajiva as well in 1986 but the likes of
00:01:33uh Rodney Smith the American uh Trampas Parker Bob Moore Alessio Chiodi Dylan Ferrandes Max Nagel Hurlings Geisser Jonas
00:01:42Prado Tom Villal victorious in MX2 Iago Kietz Ruben Fernandes Kaida Wolf and Prado Maximinov all been victorious here
00:01:51in Argentina over the years there's your racetrack 1,850 meters long we're 150 meters above sea level
00:02:02and it's now starting to get very very rugged indeed you can hear the riders out on their
00:02:07sighting laps ahead of this final race of the day we will see the highlights in a few moments of
00:02:13what
00:02:13happened in race one but I can tell you now these riders on these four strokes there wasn't a tricycle
00:02:19in sight why would there be of course
00:02:23lots of mountain bikes though in the area and in the winter here a lot of skiing goes on a
00:02:28lot of kayaking
00:02:28a proper tourist area where we are in Barrio Loce even more so about an hour and 20 minutes up
00:02:35the
00:02:35up the river up the uh lake where we were in Bichelangastora
00:02:42if you're wondering what happened in race one that lot there on the hill were treated to an absolute
00:02:47cracker MXGP race one Gates drop look right of the box Jeffrey Hurlings out of his seat quickly Tom Villal
00:02:54his
00:02:54teammate went with him into turn one but it was Jeffrey Hurlings who grabbed the first foxhole
00:02:58shot of 2026 Vial was right there in second Adamo made a good start as he emerged in third place
00:03:05just
00:03:05having a quick look across there Bonacorsi in fourth Romain Fevre and Jonas in fifth and sixth and then
00:03:12Maxime Renault in on the act as well over the monster energy jump at the start of the next lap
00:03:18Vial got his way past
00:03:19Adamo after the Italian briefly found his way past the Frenchman and then as Hurlings started to build a
00:03:26lead we thought that was it but Tom Villal had other ideas Hurlings settling into the race Villal inside
00:03:32outside combination Hurlings let him have that on lap four Lucas Kunin he fell briefly from fifth but did
00:03:39not lose any positions Andrea Bonacorsi in sixth behind him crashed on the same lap did not finish the race
00:03:46as
00:03:46Roma Fevre found his mojo got alongside the 18th of Adamo moved into third around lap six lap seven he
00:03:54was closing in on the leaders as well but the two Hondas started to break it Adamo then started to
00:04:00fade
00:04:00backwards as Kunin got his way up into fourth Tim Geiser also finding his way forward as he eventually came
00:04:07home
00:04:07six ahead of his teammate Maxime Renault and then with four laps to go Hurlings outside inside the same part
00:04:14of the racetrack that Vial found his way by on lap four Hurlings going through and on lap 14 and
00:04:20from
00:04:20there he went on to win comfortably and it was a Honda HRC Petronas 1-2 with Hurlings leading over
00:04:26the
00:04:26line from Vial Kausakis defending champion Roman Fever was third Lucas Kunin and Paul Jonas ran it out in top
00:04:39five the breeze picking up even more so compared to what we had at the start of the day it
00:04:47was absolutely
00:04:48beautiful and calm here first thing this morning just like yesterday but as the day has gone on
00:04:52uh it was uh yeah quite different yesterday right let's go down to Lisa Leyland she was on the grid
00:05:02just a few months ago so we're almost ready for the final race of the day MXGP race two here
00:05:09in
00:05:09Bariloche let's grab a few words with 450 rookie Thibaut Beniston uh Thibaut that was uh that was a tough
00:05:16first race for you what happened at the start there uh yeah it was not easy actually i saw not
00:05:20too bad but i
00:05:21took one stone in my front brake uh i had no front brake until half of the moto i should
00:05:27say and the
00:05:28front wheel was a little bit blocking in the year so i was a bit scared on the beginning and
00:05:32slowly
00:05:33found the rhythm and found my front brake again so i fight until the end to to go as much
00:05:40from the front
00:05:40as i can a few changes for you in the off season change of team honda motor blues now you're
00:05:45on the 450
00:05:46the bigger bike how's that transition been how have you founded it yeah as you say i changed category
00:05:52and also uh brands so everything went good uh we had quite a good connection and i felt really good
00:05:59with the bike straight away so it's cool best love for this race thank you Thibaut okay finally let's
00:06:05catch up with honda hrc patronus rider ruben fernandez uh ruben i guess mixed emotions after that first race
00:06:12for you how are you feeling right now yeah i didn't have a great start and then uh it was
00:06:16difficult
00:06:16even the my feeling on track was not great uh but yeah hopefully we can turn it around on the
00:06:22second
00:06:22moto because actually you do have fond memories coming here you picked up your first and only gp
00:06:27victory here wasn't it in 2023 you got the spanish-speaking crowd behind you as well so i guess
00:06:33it's nice here and a positive solid result to start the season here would be fantastic wouldn't it
00:06:37sure i always love the atmosphere here i feel like a local uh the track is a different one though
00:06:43but
00:06:43um but yeah we gotta make the maximum uh of it uh like i said first motor was difficult but
00:06:49hopefully
00:06:49we can turn it around on the second one and uh let's see how it goes hopefully i can do
00:06:53a good start

00:07:09almost done the opening round here in 2026 in bariloche get a week off we head to andalucia
00:07:15southwest spain a couple of weeks from now almont and then switzerland brownfield got a couple in
00:07:22italy one in sardinia one in trentino then we've got a month off and we hit the trail and from
00:07:27there
00:07:28there's no rest really until we get to the mxgp of australia in darwin at the end of september a
00:07:33week
00:07:33off and then of course the monster energy fyn autocross nations back in urnay in france on the
00:07:38third fourth of october here's how the riders line up based on their qualifying race from saturday
00:07:43and it is going to be tom vial who's on pole his night pole position in his career
00:07:49his first in mxgp lucas kuhn and andreo damo will line up next to him or somewhere in the region
00:07:55of
00:07:55maxime renault roman fervor ruben fernandez paul jonas and mattia guaranini all having good
00:08:01qualities calvin vallana and tim geyser the final point scorer i remember world championship points
00:08:06on saturday in the qualifying race also determining your grid position for race one and race two and
00:08:11the points from today race one and race two determine the overall uh grand prix this weekend
00:08:19jeffi hurling started right of the box as we look down left of the box but it looks like somebody
00:08:25else has
00:08:26found that position there is jeffi hurlings on the hrc petronas look like maybe geyser or renault
00:08:31went there because obviously they would get first pick over jeffi hurlings who finished 12th in the
00:08:38qualifying race renault was fourth so he's going to try and uh do what the bullet did
00:08:46tom vial has had a fantastic weekend so far tim geyser beaten up battle and bruised after his
00:08:52qualifying race crash yesterday just trying to get through this one but he was gradually building
00:08:58himself into that first race where he came away sixth one position ahead of his teammate maxi minot
00:09:03roman febvre made a start inside the top five or six eventually came home to third but didn't really
00:09:08have an answer for hurlings or vial in that first race will we have a better luck this time around
00:09:14and likewise for lucas kunan started uh what between five and ten and eventually came home in fourth place
00:09:21including a little tip over he'll be hoping to finish here at least on the podium
00:09:27if he can so we will see how things pan out
00:09:37foxhole shot in race one went to number 84 jeffrey hurlings the fly racing 15 second border for the
00:09:42final time this weekend at the ypf mxgp of argentina here in barilogy who will it be that crosses the
00:09:48stripe first in race two tom vial has 61 foxhole shots in his mx2 career he picked up the quality
00:09:55hole shot yesterday can he do it again in race two here he's in the inside gate there he is
00:10:00a rider
00:10:01went straight through the gate there and has obviously caught himself out and it will be
00:10:08oh i tell you what is it the two carasakis febvre or jonas it may have been febvre
00:10:17everybody coming in to land safely there unlike mx2 race two febvre leads the way though
00:10:24and kunan in second sorry adamo there in second
00:10:30quickly pushed back though by ruben fernandez fernandez up in the second position
00:10:39uphill here robin febvre
00:10:42fernandez already into second adamo third as we charge downhill
00:10:52river fernandez looking for a good result here he won this grand prix remember
00:10:57vial there trying to find his way past sadamo in fourth place
00:11:06where he's hurlings he's down and around about 13th 14th place
00:11:11thought we were expecting him to come into view the london's had an issue on the opening lap he's down
00:11:16in
00:11:22but it's febvre who leads the way here febvre in red arrived here with the championship leaders red plate
00:11:29as the defending champion could come away from here with the championship leaders red plate again
00:11:35with a race win but it all depends what goes on around him because tom vial who won the qualifying
00:11:41race
00:11:42on saturday picking up 10 points picked up 22 points as guadagnini is out of the race
00:11:48i wonder if he got caught in something with vallandran because neither of those two
00:11:54well in fact guadagnini went through sectors one and two guadagnini uh vallandran hasn't even gone
00:11:59through sector one yet oh tight that for vial as he leant on adamo moves into third place
00:12:10aggressive riding that from the two-time innings two world champion
00:12:17moves into third
00:12:20hurling's already up into 11. get everybody over the line for the first official lap
00:12:28at the end of this one but febvre is who leads the way fernandez second the al third adamo four
00:12:34jonas
00:12:35here number 41 who's been twice victorious on argentine soil in fifth renault six guys are seven
00:12:42lucas guadagnini ernicks nine bonacorsi did go out and line up even though he fell in race one
00:12:49lines up in race two on the red bull ducati and he's there in 11th place at the moment
00:12:58oh just see how deep that hole is on that left line
00:13:05on that crest jones still trying to find his way past the number 80 in madama
00:13:11as they launch back downhill again the wind blowing in from the lake six kilometers away from here the
00:13:17wind expected to pick up in the next couple of hours quite significantly so by then we should have this
00:13:24race done but not easy conditions
00:13:31when it's heavy winds here especially if it's blowing down the monster mountain and then you've
00:13:37got the side jumps like coming out of turn two that monster jump yes it's only quite small but you
00:13:42will feel that
00:13:49right end of lap one in the books for fevra 201 365 fastest on track fernandez second
00:13:57two oh one six vial two oh one five adamo into the two oh threes and four for geyser
00:14:0531st lane to equations in high six more and then back halfshbüros
00:14:06hurlings up to ninth his fetter's way past bonacorosie he is following lucas kunan through
00:14:12as jonas finds his way up the inside of andrea adamo
00:14:16moves into fourth position

00:14:31just saw hurlings and kunan there a moment ago bottom of his screen entering the waves just
00:14:37behind these guys
00:14:41damo renault then it'll be kunan and hurlings
00:14:46last time they really squared up to each other was arnhem in the netherlands last year
00:14:51the dutchman closing in in that final race on hurlings hurlings just managed to hold on didn't he
00:15:14might have making a mistake there that might have been renault in the background spinning up it was
00:15:17had that left-hand turn that'll bring kunan and hurlings into play top of the hill any moment
00:15:23now and there is lucas kunan number five on the red bull ktm we're going to go around the outside
00:15:29of maxim renault here this 4-6 position but hurlings right there behind him
00:15:37trying to cut back here no way through maxim renault ready blackable
00:15:43try to go the long way around get that jump there it's only a small jump got a big gust
00:15:49of wind
00:15:49pushing you further than the landing zone you will flat land
00:16:00oh red flag wow not sure then what the situation is here i will sure i will hear from somebody
00:16:11i'm
00:16:11sure very very soon but uh why just looking around thinking okay why is that but that came a little
00:16:17bit
00:16:33unexpected
00:16:39so red flag situation i wonder if it was anything to do with the start because we had uh a
00:16:45rider jump through
00:16:47the gate and i think that might have been albi ferrato but let's have a look yeah ferrato went through
00:16:56the gate
00:16:57there and then did that create a chain reaction where other riders couldn't go there's van donick and
00:17:06tibo beniston and so because we haven't gone two full laps we will get a full restart everybody back to
00:17:13the
00:17:13gate in their normal positions that was in the riders briefing yesterday so if that's the reason why
00:17:19then uh everybody gets a second chance at it roman fevre was leading the way at the time of the
00:17:26red flag
00:17:30it's not sure if there was a problem with philandrin in terms of uh the bike and uh but anyway
00:17:36if there was
00:17:36a problem with the bike he can't ride a second bike i don't think but there's mattia guadagnini he picked
00:17:42himself up rejoined the race and uh he will get another shot at it as well even though he fell
00:17:50but a bit of frantic action going on down there because it's a full restart they'll be running to
00:17:55get fuel for the bikes roman fevre looking confused as well down there take on a little bit of liquid
00:18:00refreshment tim geyser was buried in ninth place hurlings coonan and hurlings have just found their
00:18:07way past in seventh and eighth geyser was down in ninth but at the time of the stoppage which is
00:18:12irrelevant
00:18:12now because it will be a full restart having not gone more than two laps so let's go back to
00:18:19how the
00:18:19riders will line up then based on their qualifying race
00:18:25tom biao lucas kunan and dreja adamo maximino roman fevre goes to line fifth head of fernandez
00:18:32morse jonas mattia guadagnini
00:18:44is next and then jeffrey hurling so that 12th place 11th top place no points in that world
00:18:50championship but only the top 10 riders get points on a saturday and it's business as usual on sunday 25
00:18:57for
00:18:57win 22 for second 20 for third 18 16 15 down to 20 then after that in single point increments
00:19:05so uh 16 15 14 13
00:19:0720 riders four points
00:19:11riders with the most points from the two races today will win the overall grand prix and if you tie
00:19:16on
00:19:16points it's the best rider it's the the best result from the rider in the second race
00:19:25in that tie break that will determine the better result so if you have the first and second second
00:19:30and first because the rider finishes the first and the second race will get them on
00:19:53so everybody's trying to get themselves refocused then
00:19:58here all the air fans down there just trying to cool down the radiators
00:20:05and guys speaking to one of the crew down there looks like it might be massimo pestelli and uh
00:20:10kelly lametti just to his right there now in shot
00:20:15so looking at video footage then maybe the start maybe it's some lines so they've got a chance here just
00:20:22they can't switch bikes
00:20:26but they can refuel because obviously they're going to be almost two laps into the race now so they will
00:20:33need
00:20:33a lot of fuel
00:20:36yeah burrato just went too early look and then look how it messed up the gates around him
00:20:40giving these riders like brent van donyk and thibaut vaniston an unfair advantage so that's why
00:20:45we have the red flag but everybody looking around thinking well didn't see any yellows no medical flags so
00:20:53course they are all a little bit of a muse but that's current and having a
00:20:57good word with the defending champion there Roman Febvre who will have to
00:21:02re-dig deep Maxime Renault there
00:21:11Febvre just well everybody completed on the set well they complete the second
00:21:17that but obviously the red flag was on the finish line so Febvre was leading
00:21:21the way from Fernandes they were separated by about two seconds the owl was
00:21:25third Jonas was fourth they had both found their way past Andrea Adamo who
00:21:29dropped to fifth Maxime Renault was sixth Lucas Kuhn and Jeffrey Hurlings had both
00:21:33passed Geiser for seventh and eighth Geiser dropped to ninth and we had Bono
00:21:37Corsi 10th answer 11 for Rato somehow with that what you would call a massive
00:21:43jumpstart and himself in 12th place the head of Oriol, Olivier and Paul Quo
00:21:51there's Tom Biao just re-emerging from behind at the waiting zone
00:22:00haven't seen the Lodron go to the grid yet
00:22:04just looking down at the results as we are so yeah the Lodron that looks like he
00:22:09we will re-join the race
00:22:22anyway Jeffrey Hurling is there looking for some assistance down there

00:24:43irrelevant it's not like it's going to be a two-part race there's albi ferrato

00:24:59one of course you're there 1 32 kevin borgmo 24. feeling a little bit under the weather the last
00:25:04couple of weeks but getting better now but he hasn't been able to ride for the last two weeks or
00:25:08so

00:25:18coming into this race after winning the qualifying race on saturday
00:25:23he's in gate one tuning in right at gate two fly racing 15 second board up then for the final

00:25:39then renault then jonas five second border's turn
00:25:48gate cross we're away once again
00:25:52and it's vial oh i tell you what coming in hot randy outside it was hurlings but geyser or
00:26:01renault 959 and ferrato in the thick of it again here it's got jonas there within 41
00:26:09and jonas who made a great start in race one all of a sudden finds himself at the back in
00:26:13turn two
00:26:15but it was maxim renault who led over the foxhole shot line
00:26:20but tom vial round the outside two fiery frenchman well one a little bit more late back than the other
00:26:27but you wouldn't know it the way he just made that move outside inside once again
00:26:31vial had no move for hanging around
00:26:35french first two the first three riders are all french vial renault fevra and we've got geyser there
00:26:42on the 243. fernandez to his right adamo behind him
00:26:51and then hurling to get parked having to hit the brakes on the inside
00:26:56in around about seventh place wow face full of dirt right down the bullets helmet

00:27:06launching downhill for the first time here
00:27:09in this final race tom bial coming back towards us
00:27:13up into turn 14. renault fevra right there in his wheel tracks geyser
00:27:20a bright start for the new monster energy yamaha signing this time around had a tough race in race one
00:27:29where he came home in 7th in the end or 6th place in the end
00:27:35it took him a while to get going didn't it

00:28:02Jonas in 27th after he's come to with a couple of riders there including Perato
00:28:09at the start going into that second corner
00:28:15circuit quickly drying out now
00:28:17loose which means the stones in that sandy volcanic soil
00:28:22will start to ping
00:28:26anywhere where the riders aren't protected
00:28:29they will feel it
00:28:30okay their bodies are well seasoned
00:28:31to it like a boxer taking a punch on the nose
00:28:36for 12 rounds
00:28:37become numb to it
00:28:39if you take your shirt off and you
00:28:41sort of
00:28:42you see the evidence
00:28:48sense of the wind
00:28:50he's kicking it and the riders feeling it as well
00:28:54have to be a little bit cautious
00:28:56more cautious in one or two areas
00:29:06top three starting to break away from Geyser
00:29:11Tom Vielle would lead the championship on 57 points
00:29:14if you put the flag out now
00:29:16Federer would be second on 46 points
00:29:18Renault would be third on 43
00:29:21Hurlings would be fourth
00:29:22tied with Kunin on 40
00:29:24the overall grand prix would go to Tom Vielle 47 points with a second and a win if you can
00:29:30stay there
00:29:30Federer with two thirds
00:29:33would be on 40
00:29:34tied with Hurlings
00:29:35who would be 25 and 15
00:29:37because he's currently in sixth after his race one win
00:29:45but you just sense after race one
00:29:48this will be a bit of a slow burner
00:29:49yeah they're all locked together at the moment
