00:00A mock draft we have not covered yet in terms of the scenario.
00:04The best type of mock draft to me.
00:07The traded ones? The trade ones?
00:09The beat writer ones.
00:11Oh, yeah.
00:12I think it's always best that if you're going to do these mock drafts,
00:16jump to whoever covers the team regularly
00:19and either knows what it is that they need or knows a guy they like.
00:23This is what brought us to doing in Indianapolis,
00:25walking by all the radio tables.
00:27What you guys looking at there? What you thinking?
00:29What you feeling?
00:30I'll run down the list real quick.
00:32We'll get to Arizona.
00:33When we get to Arizona, I'm going to stop and explain how this is a good example of that.
00:36So, number one, Fernando Mendoza, quarterback, Indiana, goes to the Las Vegas Raiders.
00:40No way.
00:41Number two, Arvel Reese, Ohio State, to the Jets,
00:45which is you started to see some David Bailey there, but it's Bailey or Reese.
00:50Reese seems to be the favorite at this point.
00:51Three, and this is where I think these mock drafts are important.
00:54Arizona Cardinals take Francis Mauno, offensive tackle, Miami.
00:57So, you had in the Kuyper mock draft, Mauno was still there when the Cowboys picked.
01:02And in some of these national mock drafts, you don't see Mauno go to pick six or five or something
01:07like that.
01:08But every single person I've seen who covers the Arizona Cardinals
01:13and has participated in a mock draft has put offensive line at pick three.
01:16Every single one of them.
01:18And nobody else is doing that.
01:19All the national writers are putting other defensive players.
01:23I think that's a – yeah, it tells you what the Arizona may be saying.
01:27But, like, to hone it – like, we know the Cowboys are more locked into defense than Arizona to any
01:33one position.
01:34You know what I mean?
01:35They can take anything.
01:36Yeah.
01:37They need anything.
01:37But that's one of the most consistent things that people are mocking.
01:41Like, everybody who is – so, everybody who is an Arizona reporter who would, like, be talking to people related
01:46to the team,
01:47they're all saying tackle, tackle, tackle.
01:49All of them are saying – like, Danny Sarek was out there talking to Broadus,
01:53and Broadus was like, who do you all get?
01:55Who are you all going to get?
01:56And she said, offensive line.
01:57And she just kept walking.
01:58And so –
01:58Who's Danny Sarek?
01:59She used to work for DallasCowboys.com.
02:01She's now the reporter, the team reporter there for the Arizona Cardinals.
02:05But this is where I think, like, you start seeing, like, they're going to have a better read of who
02:09that pick could be.
02:10Pretty commonly, you've seen some people mock to Tennessee, Jeremiah Love.
02:14Number four.
02:15Seems easy.
02:16Jeremiah Love.
02:17No.
02:17David –
02:18Which, again, that doesn't make all the sense in the world.
02:22Jeremiah Love doesn't?
02:23Yeah.
02:23It doesn't.
02:25Like, why would the Tennessee Titans –
02:27Get a running back.
02:28Now, look, you can – we just saw the Super Bowl.
02:31There's Jerry Jones.
02:32That's their next selling point for why the Cowboys can make it next year in Los Angeles with the Super
02:37Bowl we just saw.
02:38And you can be Atlanta.
02:41And you can be Detroit.
02:43Yep.
02:43So, we – I used to think of, and we used to think of, you know, running back is for
02:48a win-now team.
02:49There's no point if you're the Tennessee Titans to get the best running back because you're four years away.
02:57Not necessarily the case.
02:58And the Detroit Lions became contenders with Jameer Gibbs.
03:02Right.
03:02And Atlantic, you know, I always think of them as a 9-8 team, 8-9 team.
03:06They can be on the cusp of the playoffs with Bijan.
03:10Right.
03:10And, look, it's just like the Colorado Rockies going out and spending $15 million a year on Edwin Diaz.
03:15The closer.
03:17No point, right?
03:17They wouldn't do it.
03:18Right.
03:18I don't – the Titans taking a running back.
03:20I mean, look, you're getting a good player.
03:21He's going to help you.
03:23There's no doubt about it.
03:24Is he going to change the fortunes of your franchise?
03:28Not if Cam Ward doesn't succeed.
03:31Are you guys past that timeline thing, that timeline hurdle with the running back mentally in your head of a
03:37bad team like the Jets drafting one?
03:40Or are the Jets just different because they don't have Cam?
03:42Let's take the Titans.
03:44Yeah, so the Titans – so, for instance, here's the write-up on this where they take David Bailey in
03:48the smock,
03:48even though most people have been throwing Jeremiah Love there.
03:51He says there's a lot of buzz.
03:52This is Joe Rexroad, who is the reporter for the Titans.
03:55There's a lot of buzz about the Titans using this pick to take Jeremiah Love after a defense-heavy free
04:00agency period.
04:00But most of those signings are solid complementary pieces.
04:04It's much more difficult to find a game-wrecking edge than it is a productive running back.
04:08And I am thinking that their offensive coordinator there in Tennessee now is Brian Dayball,
04:11who was part of the brain trust, and apparently there was chatter about it, that was fine with, yeah, let's
04:17Saquon go.
04:18Like, we're not doing that.
04:20And so I would not be surprised.
04:21Yeah, yeah, we agree, too.
04:22Like, Philly –
04:23Again, it's like, why should the New York Giants have Saquon Barkley?
04:26Right.
04:27Right.
04:27Philly needed him.
04:29You know, like –
04:29Yeah, I agree.
04:30There's teams that need him.
04:31But then the Lions took Jameer.
04:33I mean, I remember making fun of the Lions.
04:34But I think the Lions had – they hadn't, like, clicked yet, but they had all this talent that they
04:38drafted that they figured was projected.
04:40So they were still bad at the time, but they were – they had a lot of really good young
04:43talent that they thought was going to grow into a good team.
04:45Yeah, they had won, like, eight of their last nine that going into that offseason.
04:51So, yeah, I think they still viewed that as a finishing piece.
04:53So if the Titans took Love, would you support it?
04:57No.
04:58Like, I'd support it because it'd take somebody off the board ahead of Dallas.
05:00No, no, but for them.
05:01Yeah, if I was a Titans fan, I would not want to take Jeremiah Love.
05:04Like, does it make sense for Cleveland to take it back?
05:07It makes sense for Washington to take it back.
05:09Does it make sense for New Orleans to take it back?
05:11I'd say Cleveland, it does make sense.
05:13Why?
05:13They have such an awful financial position with their quarterback spot that that quarterback position is not going to be
05:17good for a while.
05:18So any hope you have of being a good offensive team is going to come from running the ball.
05:22Giants, five.
05:23They take Sonny Stiles, linebacker, Ohio State.
05:26Starting to see that a lot.
05:27Six.
05:28The Cleveland Browns take Monroe Freeling, offensive tackle, Georgia.
05:34Freeling is a guy who does not get mocked in the top ten very often, except by Browns reporters.
05:40And again, I think that stands out.
05:41Now, the Browns have talked about wanting to trade back.
05:43Cynthia Freeling.
05:43I wonder if the Browns look at it like these reporters are saying, I'm going to mock Freeling at six
05:50to the Browns because we can't trade out of this spot for the purpose of this mock draft, but we
05:55know they want to trade back and get him.
05:56So I wonder if it could be that.
05:58Seven.
05:58Washington Commanders take Caleb down, safety, Ohio State.
06:02We still do not have Jeremiah Love off the board.
06:04Number eight.
06:05New Orleans Saints select Carnell Tate, wide receiver, Ohio State.
06:10Man, I cannot say Carnell Tate.
06:12I want to say Cadillac.
06:13Cadillac Williams?
06:15Like Carnell, Cadillac.
06:16I want to just follow Carnell with Cadillac.
06:18Because it's Tate, I always want to say Carnell Lake.
06:21Number nine.
06:22The Kansas City Chiefs select...
06:25Love?
06:26Jeremiah Love.
06:27You're the insider.
06:28Ruben.
06:29Ruben Bain.
06:30Ruben Bain.
06:30Ruben Bain to the Kansas City Chiefs, which, again, that's long been thought to be his floor, Jeremiah Love.
06:36And with him still on the board, they go, nope, Bain.
06:39Number ten.
06:39The Cincinnati Bengals take the first corner off the board.
06:43Ugh.
06:43Mansoor Delane is gone?
06:45No.
06:46Paul Daner, who is very plugged in with the Cincinnati Bengals, projects the Bengals taking Jermaud McCoy.
06:52Wow!
06:54So that would be...
06:55Somebody else did the dirty work for you.
06:56Dude, that would be so helpful if the first corner off the board ahead of Dallas was McCoy.
07:02None of McCoy's better.
07:04He can be better.
07:05He can be better, but any of them can be better in that top 15.
07:11But I'm saying, like, the risk, that's good news for risk management.
07:16Whose tape is, just straight-up tape, is better between Delane and McCoy?
07:23McCoy's makes you say, wow, more often.
07:25Delane's might be more steady.
07:27Okay.
07:28So, yeah, Dane Berger was like, find me the bad Delane tape.
07:30You can't.
07:31Delane is Byron Jones.
07:33Um, I mean, not size-wise or anything, but...
07:36Like, that type of player.
07:38Steady, yeah.
07:38Look, McCoy, again, I just think it's a huge risk to say, when he steps on the football field,
07:42that'll be the first time he's played in two years, and nobody has seen him play football
07:46outside of as a teenager.
07:47I just want to see him run.
07:48That's just nuts to me.
07:49I want to see him run.
07:50Just run a straight line, and then run one of those shuttles.
07:53Eleven, the Miami Dolphins in this athletic beat-rider mock draft.
07:58Select Spencer Fano, offensive tackle from Utah, who may bump inside and play guard.
08:03This would be close to a dream scenario for the Mavis.
08:07That's who?
08:08Spencer Fano, offensive tackle from Utah to the Dolphins.
08:10So, Stiles.
08:10You didn't say Stiles yet.
08:11Stiles is five.
08:12So, this is close to a dream scenario.
08:14It sucks.
08:15You lose, like, Stiles.
08:16You lose these guys.
08:17But to have...
08:18You don't have Baines, Stiles, Downs.
08:20Mm-hmm.
08:21Or Del...
08:21Oh, you have Delane.
08:22You do have Delane because of McCoy.
08:24Yeah.
08:24So, if you would have had, I mean, three offensive tackles and McCoy go ahead of Dallas,
08:31that would help push some of these other names that we've talked about down the board.
08:35And ultimately, the only one left of the guys we've consistently talked about at pick 12,
08:39the Dallas Cowboys for John Machoda in this draft.
08:41Select Monsor, Delane, cornerback, LSU.
08:44And then, the Rams take Mekhi Lemon at 13.
08:4814, the Ravens finally...
08:49I only stop on this because the Ravens finally at 14 take Jeremiah Love.
08:53If you got the Ravens on a down year...
08:56Oh, God.
08:57...to just luck into...
08:5814 is where Kyle Hamilton just fell to them, too.
09:01And they're like, okay, cool.
09:02We'll take Kyle Hamilton.
09:03And so, if they were to take Jeremiah Love at 14, if he really fell that far,
09:07that would be so bad for the rest of the NFL.
09:10Well, let's have the love conversation at 12.
09:14So, that's exactly what I was going to ask.
09:16So, there's...
09:17If you've got...
09:18Yes.
09:18Because if you jump down to 20...
09:19Yes!
09:20Yes.
09:20Who are you?
09:22You need to reverse your name.
09:23You know what?
09:25From now on today, you are J.R. Choppy.
09:29No more R.J.
09:30You flipped.
09:31You flipped everything.
09:32You are J.R.
09:33J.R. Choppy.
09:34A running back at 12?
09:35I am allowed.
09:36A running back at 12 for you?
09:37You are allowed to adapt.
09:39Who are you?
09:40Adapt to die.
09:40You're allowed to adapt to die.
09:41J.R.
09:44If you catch me saying R.J. in the next week, I've got to...
09:48Just say Ralph.
09:49Just say Ralph.
09:49No.
09:50It's reverse.
09:50That loses my point.
09:52Yeah.
09:52Loses my joke.
09:53I'm going to put some money in the Corinth jar here.
09:56By the way, 12th pick was Jameer Gibbs.
09:59As you mentioned Jameer Gibbs.
10:00He was the number 12 pick, too.
10:02And that's where Dallas is picking.
10:03So, 20, though, where they take C.J. Allen.
10:05He has C.J. Allen going to the Cowboys at 20, John.
10:08So, this is actually a two-sided question here.
10:1121, the next pick is Vega Yohani, who is the guard from Penn State.
10:16In both instances, Yohani at 20, when you take Allen, is, I think, by most people's measure,
10:23a significantly better-graded prospect.
10:27At 12, good as Mansoor Delaney is, most people would have Jeremiah Love as a significantly better-graded prospect.
10:34So, would you swap two really steady defensive players, Delaney and Allen?
10:39Neither one of them are super flashy.
10:40They're both really steady at corner and linebacker.
10:43Would you swap either one of those for, I could be getting a player that people think is significantly better
10:49at running back or guard in exchange for this?
10:54So, here's the thing.
10:56Because the guard, you would imagine, that would move Tyler Smith out to left tackle, then?
11:01Uh, yeah, look, this, Love is a, just a, awesome player.
11:08Um, does he remind you of anyone?
11:12Ah, I'm terrible with that.
11:13Because this is the way you've got to tell, the way you've got to talk me into this is to
11:16tell me that his floor,
11:19I mean, he's Bijan and Jameer.
11:20You've got to tell me that.
11:21Well, and if, and if the person in that room is wrong, you're fired.
11:24Yeah, look, and I'll be honest with you, my, my, if, if this scenario happens, I'm, I'm,
11:29my number one thing is to trade out of the pick because someone's going to want to come get him.
11:33Yeah, well, explain, though, why you take him at 12.
11:35So, uh, uh, I, I, look, I like Javante.
11:41Javante is not a, a difference maker.
11:44He's a steady running back.
11:46Yep.
11:47Um, and there's, there's call for that.
11:49Curtis Martin was a hell of a player.
11:51There's not a single team out there that says, I don't want Curtis Martin on my team.
11:54Right.
11:55Um, Jeremiah Love is a, is a difference-making type of a, of a player.
12:00Like, he changes your franchise from that position.
12:04Not as a, not as a whole, but from that position, he changes your franchise.
12:07It's, it's something that you've got to consider to the point where it's like, all right, my,
12:11if this falls where it's both Delane and, and Love on the board,
12:15I'm seeing if Baltimore will trade up two spots.
12:19I'm dropping back to 14, hoping Delane's still there.
12:21I don't know.
12:22I, I don't totally agree with the comp, but I will say the most common comp you get from
12:26draft analysts, Lance Zerline, I think Daniel Jeremiah said it, the most common comp you've
12:30gotten for Jeremiah Love is Jameer Gibbs.
12:34And what are you doing, Bobby?
12:36At 12.
12:37I'm not taking Gibbs.
12:39I, I would take Delane.
12:39I could potentially be talked into taking Yohani over Allen at 20.
12:43I am not, I'm not going to take him at 12.
12:47So that is interesting.
12:49The beat writer draft on the home of the Cowboys.
