15:55you remember that hit yeah yeah yeah and you know um I you know I do I look around as

16:03I'm walking

16:05because I know if he's if he is anywhere in any of them bushes hey matter of fact I don't

16:13know

16:13if I ever told you this it was like I think the second or third time I was out there

16:19we had seen

16:20the elevator um alligator it was on we said I was on the patio we started walking and I started

16:27shooting videos from all angles because I was gonna put it together I started across this little

16:34brook and you know you had to step on stones and some told me don't go back around seriously man

16:45and I stopped and I'm like okay Diana's not coming around here she must be standing on the other

16:52side so I actually turned around came back and she was standing she was standing over there waiting

16:59for me to come that way as I walked over the other little bridge there's there's a little pond there

17:07a little small one I looked over in there and I'm like oh man I would have stepped right

17:15by the gator no I'm good I'm good yeah and from that point on every time we we walked at

17:23that

17:23little and cross that little bridge I always look to see if that gator you know and then when I

17:32did

17:32decide to go through that path one time I stepped in a bunch of mud I had to come home

17:37and wash my shoes

17:39man I had to put my shoes in some plastic back I had to take them off in the vehicle

17:43because they were

17:44so full of mud I told you what happened when we was in uh Cocoa Beach um I knew that

17:51there was this

17:52little reservoir or sanctuary or whatever they want to call it directly across from the resort

17:57yeah and when and when I read the list of the animals that were in there and I couldn't even

18:02pronounce them or or recite them back uh-huh and it was like a covered like you had to like

18:09duck down

18:10to get under there and there's all this like trees and stuff above your head I said no I'm good

18:15that's I know I I know I saw raccoons and I'm like no I'm good yeah yeah

18:23we go to I I we've ran across raccoons I mean I ain't even got a video of a raccoon

18:30going in a trash

18:31can and popping his head up looking around okay yeah we gonna have a story we gonna have the story

18:38about raccoons I'll tell you yeah I'm we gonna take that for another day but I know that I came

18:43in contact with them two times and when they were almost their backs were almost up to my kneecaps

18:49I was like no I'm really good I'm really good I ain't never seen no nothing big like that before

18:56hey man yeah you know I've always been scared because they said if you see a raccoon in the

19:03daytime I was always told raccoon in the daytime was rabbit oh I've seen one in the daytime I have

19:11I have I have to I have to the old place where I used to live at the hand and

19:17this coon here was

19:19huge and actually it got hold to one of our the neighbor's dogs was outside yeah and the raccoon

19:30got hold to him and he said cuz I had a chihuahua at the time and he said hey he

19:35said hey man he said

19:36look here keep your dog in the house or keep him close to you and I'm like yeah okay and

19:42then he said

19:42you know my little dog I had I'm like yeah he said oh man the coon got hold to him

19:48I said no joke he

19:49he said yeah you know what listen to this shout out to the people who eat raccoons

19:59we go we gonna give that a game of you know I have family members that

20:03eat or have eaten I don't know if they still do but as a kid I've had family members who

20:09have eaten raccoon and and you know I've heard people I've heard a lot of people you know especially

20:18southern people exactly but but you know what's so funny when I went to Arkansas when I was working

20:26a restoration we went up there to repair a building that had been hit by a tornado it was a

20:33hospital

20:34and I mean it was cold out there so these people they was giving you know giving away hot food

20:40went out

20:41there and they said they said oh yeah we got soup they had all the things they had and this

20:47one chick

20:47she said I don't think I'm gonna eat that she said these are mountain people she's they got coon and

20:55possums and big rats off in there I'm like god that's all I'm like oh that's that's all right

21:03you know and I did not and the guy he said hey sir we got we got some hot stew

21:09over here

21:10I said hey I appreciate it but I'm fine I'm cool you know he said okay then he said well

21:16we got a whole

21:17lot of it over here I'm like yeah okay you know and I'm like y'all enjoy it I wouldn't

21:21eat none of it

21:22because none of my co-workers they was like man I ain't eating that you don't know what you eat

21:27you know I'm like yeah I said that's why that's all right like I said shout out to the people

21:35who

21:36eat it yeah I know my family they listen to the show too so yeah it listen if y'all

21:41still eating it

21:42that's cool I know I never have and I never will but yeah um and some people they don't have

21:50a choice

21:50so I mean that's why I don't knock them I'm like and you know hey you know it it is

21:57what it is

22:01yeah it is now it's time to uh we could talk about this all night now it's time to get

22:08into

22:09our money hack segment so let's get right on into it so give me a number what five

22:18oh that's a good one five I ain't got to go that far let's see what we got here number

22:22five

22:24all right this is a good one let's uh stay on this one so we want to tell you tonight

22:31do automate your

22:32emergency savings every bank and credit union will happily will be happy to set up a system for

22:38free in which each month or every two weeks or once a quarter it's up to however you want to

22:43set up

22:44the frequency it will automatically transfer money from your checking account to your savings account

22:49this is the best way to stay for any goal rather than to have to rely on your good intentions

22:54to set

22:55money aside it's already done for you how much you have automatically transferred is up to you

23:02I have a challenge for you think of a sum that you think you could handle saving each month

23:09so okay now increase it by 10 yes I said 10 I know you can do this you must do

23:18this for you and your

23:19family's security need ideas on where to come up with money we can discuss that and later and of course

23:27ways to come up with money as ways to do side hustles ways to cut what you have spending currently

23:36and other ways that you can get money from here to there so there's always ways that you can come

23:42up with extra money when you feel that it's not possible so what do you think about automated

23:50oh you know in a lot of ways that's a good idea because you know then you don't have to

23:57you know think about everything that you got to pay at one time and you know it's it's a good

24:06thing for

24:07a lot of people that you know have a busy schedule they don't have to worry about their bills are

24:16taken

24:16care of and it's out of sight out of mind too so if you are saving for something and you

24:22have it taken

24:23out automatically yeah and it's not not in your checking account not in your spending account

24:29the chances are if you're disciplined that you'll be able to save and it's done automatically and you

24:38don't have to keep digging in and switching and changing however if you have not built up that

24:43mindset and you have not built up that discipline and you have an easy access to your emergency savings

24:48fund and you're dipping in buying new shoes clothes vacations this that the next the other

24:55as soon as you put the twenty dollars in on uh friday you're digging in and taking it out by

25:01sunday

25:03um that's not it exactly i used to be that i used to be that way i put a hundred

25:09dollars aside saying

25:10that i'm saving it and next thing you know i'm hitting hitting up the atm before the week's out oh

25:15yeah

25:17so if you are in that mindset and i know that people listening you might be in that mindset and

25:21there's nothing wrong with that because this is a growth process and this is where we need to get to

25:27but if you are that person who puts money aside and you have good intentions and you want to save

25:33but yet you keep digging in and taking it out you have not hit your financial rock bottom i will

25:40repeat

25:40that again if you are a person who wants to save and you have a good heart you have good

25:44intention

25:44you put the money aside you know what you're trying to do and trying to build but yet you still

25:49can't

25:49stop yourself from going in and taking out and spending because you haven't budgeted properly

25:55that means you have not hit your financial rock bottom people who have hit their financial rock

26:00bottom listen when those credit card things come in the mail you cut them up you know full well that

26:06once you whatever you put aside is what you put aside and you ain't gonna touch it you know what

26:10a

26:10true emergency is them new jordan see that vacation is not an emergency a true emergency you already

26:18know what that is your car breaks down somebody gets hurt there's a hospitalization anything that is

26:24not in the norm those people you have hit your true rock bottom and you understand you know what it

26:30truly means to save i'm gonna get off my get off my soapbox because you know i could do this

26:39all night

26:39but all right you ready to get into tonight into tonight's assignment oh yeah all right let's get

26:50into this one this one's gonna be a good one we're going all the way to memphis tennessee i've never

26:54been

26:54to tennessee but every time i think about tennessee i think about the group arrested development

27:00i love they had tennessee so we got darnell darnell says i'm the one everyone calls when things fall

27:10apart my younger brother can't keep a job my cousin is always between situations my mother lives on a fixed

27:16income and sometimes comes up short when the phone rings i already know that what the conversation is

27:23going to be about at first helping felt right i make decent money i figured that's what family does

27:30you set up excuse me you step up when people need you but lately i've been feeling something i don't

27:36like admitting resentment last year i sent thousands of dollars out of the door helping different

27:42relatives none of it was planned none of it was part of my budget and none of it came back

27:49meanwhile

27:50i'll still carry credit card debt and trying to rebuild my emergency fund after draining it more

27:54than once the hard part is this when i say no i feel like i'm abandoning people when i say

28:00yes i feel

28:01like i'm abandoning myself i don't want to become cold toward my family but i also don't want to keep

28:08putting my financial life on hold because everyone else refuses to get serious about theirs that is

28:13something else right i'm gonna have to say that again darnell says i don't want to become cold

28:18towards my family but i also don't want to keep putting my financial life on hold because everyone

28:25else refuses to get serious about theirs and his question is where is the line between support and

28:35enabling birdman take it away this one here i've been thinking about this one here um you know it's

28:45always the one that's doing good that everybody you know kind of look to you know they say oh if

28:53you

28:53have this financial problem go talk to this person you know and at first you've seen you like he said

29:04you

29:05know he felt like he was doing something for the family

29:09and then i sit back and i thought about it and i'm like well dang man here it is his

29:17brother

29:18can't keep a job and you want to know you want to ask why he got a cousin in all

29:24kind of situations

29:25you want to know ask why well those two right there will be cut off completely and you know

29:32i don't care if it hurt their feelings or not but it seems like sometimes people like those two there

29:40if you keep saying yes they're gonna keep coming and they're gonna because they're gonna sit back

29:46and say oh oh my cousin my brother he gonna help me out they're not gonna even try to help

29:52themselves

29:53and sometimes you gotta let a person fall on their face before they realize that they have to get out

30:02there and do something now his mother's situation i think that if he went over there and talked to her

30:11and try to help her get her bill situation right

30:18and quit getting in these jams she would probably make it and sometimes saying no is the best thing

30:28you can do i know that's right i mean i've i've had to say no or i'll say well hey

30:36hit me back at the

30:37end of the next week if you ain't figuring nothing out and and then if i see you ain't trying

30:47you just

30:47trying then i'm feel like you're using me because i'm doing well uh because the situation is is when

30:57when he get in when he get in bad financially who he who can he call on if those three

31:03people right

31:04there can't help him out who he gonna call on they can i mean they can't even help themselves out

31:11how can they help somebody else out

31:17i know that's right and i mean i i would just have to say it hey look here i have

31:25my bills too

31:26y'all are the only one that have bills you know i can't even put y'all on my income

31:32that's my favorite

31:33word you know i can't even put you on my income tax you know but i don't know you know

31:41my situation

31:42like like with me i tell you know like i tell my sons you know you know if you i

31:48prefer for you to

31:49ask me than to ask some stranger or do something crazy you know but check out all these other options

32:00and if they fail you know i'm gonna hook you up

32:08and and because i mean don't get me wrong i've been in a situation where

32:14you know um everything failed but then i had to sit back and i i never gave up and then

32:23things you know

32:24i found i found a way of taking like i had to find a way of taking care of rent

32:29you know having

32:30three three teenagers living well one was grown man well two of them was grown other was a teenager

32:39but one of them one of the girls had a situation and i had man i was out there hustling

32:46then one day

32:47i came in screaming and hollering them they thought i had lost my mind i didn't know i said why

32:54am i

32:54getting up early in the morning going to these places asking for money to pay rent well i remember

33:02you telling me that yeah i remember you telling me that yeah when y'all yeah when y'all laying

33:06up in

33:06here sleep yeah you know what this is it and see as far as my my youngest one he was

33:13still in high

33:14school so i wasn't mad at him i wasn't it was only actually it was one of them i was

33:21i was real i was

33:23like pissed off would put it like that because i know how he he tried to use people all the

33:30time

33:31and it was just one of them that i was really really didn't i was like man and one of

33:39my sons

33:39said you remember what grandma told you if she ever passed away and what dad was gonna do say you

33:48won't believe him he said but you know what dad at the end of his rope with you

33:55so you know sometimes you have to say no and no matter how bad it hurts them

34:02um yes it's gonna hurt me but i'm quite sure you'll find a way of whatever situation it is

34:11that you need some some financial help for oh you'll find a way oh now you you just said something

34:18that was so profound i'm sure that it's gonna hurt you uh you know it's gonna hurt either first of

34:24all

34:24i'm gonna just break it down this way because you said something so profound it's gonna hurt you

34:28to say no because sometimes we don't want to say no but no could be the best thing but check

34:33this out

34:35it is gonna hurt both of y'all even more if you don't say no because all you're doing is

34:42enabling

34:42the situation you're not correcting the situation and most people believe that once i get a better job

34:47once i get more money once i you know win the lottery all of these crazy things once i make

34:53it you know

34:54big in the music industry all of these crazy concepts and things that these people come up

34:58they think that more money is going to solve the problem but the worst thing that you can do and

35:04for those of you people who don't want to say no when you give money to family members close friends

35:09people who you love the most that have not developed the financial fortitude to be able to

35:19sustain and maintain that type of money that you're giving them all you're doing is just creating

35:25a bigger problem they figure hell why do i need to even do anything because you know my cousin got

35:33me

35:33why don't even need to do anything because when i run into a jam my girlfriend gonna hold me down

35:38why don't even do anything because if anything happens in this situation don't pan out the way that i

35:43want it to be my dad or my mom or my sister is gonna you know bail me out that

35:49is the worst thing

35:50that you could possibly do and those family members that might be pissed off might be hurt might be

35:54feeling a certain way about you at the moment when they wake up they'll say thank you but if they

36:01don't wake up they'll still continue to be on that ill train of oh you know this person don't care

36:08about me this person you know think that they're all of that they you know rose to the occasion but

36:14they can't pull and lift somebody up let them stay exactly where they're at but those ones who

36:20hit that financial rock bottom and the light switch goes off they're gonna come up to you and they're

36:24gonna thank you and say you know what i appreciate you for being tough on me i appreciate you for

36:29being

36:29hard on me i appreciate you for telling me no because all i was gonna do was mess up that

36:33money anyway

36:34exactly and like i said like my my two youngest sons you know i don't have no issue with them

36:40there

36:40because you know when they do ask me for some money that you know it's a dad you got ten

36:45dollars

36:46hey dad you got twenty dollars you know yeah you know sometimes i don't say nothing i just say yeah

36:53okay

36:53like that and then you know i go ahead and send it to them you know hey man did y

36:58'all get it you know

37:00because you know i know you know i can i can do that and it's not it's not always you

37:06know and they're

37:07not they're not hitting me up for no like no two or three or four hundred dollars because if they

37:12was

37:13they know what the answer is before they even ask it's gonna be no it's gonna be a hell no

37:22because now you know if you got yourself in that type of jam you need to learn how to get

37:27yourself

37:28out of that jam i'm sitting here looking up something now that i now that i'm on this i'm

37:35going to look this up um because it's so important because the the good book says it all the time

37:42about the bottom line with this whole situation is is that you have to pull your own weight i know

37:49i

37:49spoke about this earlier about a cost of living some people on our jobs we get something which is

37:54called a cost of living adjustment yeah and um that's what that means there is a cost in this

38:01world to live and um i'm looking this up i want to look this up so i'm like i'm so

38:13adamant about

38:14looking this up so give me a second bear with me oh yeah no problem but yeah you know and

38:20like i said

38:21you know i know i remember when my mom when she was living and my dad passed away and she

38:28and in the

38:29house that she was living in and then she was telling me how it was and i said mom your

38:37income doesn't

38:38match your bills every month i'm gonna find you a place because this is a three-bedroom house too big

38:47for you to live in by yourself and i went and found her you know at a senior and but

38:56i looked around

38:57and we you know it was senior living spot and then at first she was oh no no no i

39:04said mom you'll never

39:05pay this house off i said i don't know why you and dad even invested in this house from the

39:13get-go you

39:14wait till y'all 60 and and you retired and you move down here i said i understand you move

39:21but

39:22you'll never pay this house off and you know i said it's too many things going on with this home

39:29for you to try to take care of so i found her a little you know place and i said

39:37look mom this is

39:39what you pay a month this is how much you're gonna have left over and when she seen that she

39:48smiled

39:51you know because i said now you i said you got your phone i said uh they got free cable

39:56here

39:58grocery store right down the road bank right across the street you know all the little restaurants

40:05you'd like to go to like mcdonald's and subway right across the street you meet some new friends

40:12since this is a senior living place they'll deliver it to you so you don't have to go out

40:19and after a month of being there man she was like oh why didn't i do this long time ago

40:25you know and i

40:27said hey because i said you when you knew i was coming back to live here and i said that's

40:34the reason

40:35why i said now that i got my own place and and my youngest sister she went coming back down

40:42here

40:42she she would just barely call mama and i said hey i said you're taking care of mom i said

40:51you

40:51you know i said this is what i was trying to explain to you and you know but i made

40:58sure that you know

40:59where she was living at and how her income and how she could you know take care of everything she

41:06needed

41:08you know without it affecting her money and she had money left over

41:17and i said to myself hey i could do this for you but i couldn't do it for myself

41:23you know you know what it was yeah i want to say it was a lesson because you know we

41:30we go through

41:30lessons and stuff but what you saw your your parents experience now you know okay i got to do something

41:38different so that i don't experience the same thing so you already know that knowledge ahead of time

41:43so now you good yeah and then you just teach the next generation and next generation see the

41:50issue is is that when we just go along with the plan because sometimes our parents and people

41:56before us they only knew what they knew and you can't blame them you can't fault them for that

42:02but it's up for the generations behind them to come up and think a little bit differently

42:08exactly so you know that knowledge you good just have to make sure that the next generation and

42:13the next generation this is how generations get wiped out and i know we go on in deep and i

42:19knew that

42:19this was going to be a deep show tonight but basically what we're speaking about tonight

42:24this is how generations a full generation can get wiped out if someone is not smart enough to say

42:30you know what i deserve better i seen how mom and dad and uncle and you know grandmom and grandpop

42:36struggle let me do something differently when you just get up and you go along with the plan and you

42:40follow in the same exact footsteps and not pushing the envelope or pushing the needle to do a little bit

42:47more okay be careful now because if you follow them footsteps you better hope sure hope that the

42:54person who was in front of you set a good example because if they are headed to hell in a

42:59hand basket

43:00trust and believe you won't get there quicker than they were exactly

43:05and you know i mean that was that was that was one of the you know i did like i

43:10you know and i was

43:11thinking about this guy hey you say your mom is on a fixed income and then there's times when she

43:18get behind but why aren't you over there making sure that all her bills and see that's that's what i

43:26did

43:26i said you know i you know i got like when i got with my mother i told her how

43:30much her rent was going

43:31to be i said this is all you got to pay for mom everything is taken care of said hey

43:37when you need

43:38some food call me even when i didn't have a vehicle come up i said call me i'll walk down

43:44there to the

43:44store and come back or you know i would i would bring one of my sons with me and we

43:49would go and we

43:50would get her groceries hey we'll walk back because it went on but a block away but she couldn't walk

43:55that distance and you know or like she had she said hey could you go to the bank and get

44:02me some money

44:03sure it's right across the street you know so i said i put you in a spot that's convenient for

44:10you

44:11so that if i'm not around you know one of my sons would go over there and help her out

44:19and you know you didn't have to worry about somebody taking off with your bank card and being

44:25gone for two three hours and you come back and you look at your statement and you got a whole

44:31lot of

44:31money missing you know yeah yeah and then those was the things i was thinking about and like i said

44:39it's

44:39funny because i could do these for her but then my situation was i couldn't do it for myself

44:48hey hey listen don't don't feel bad about it i was telling myself this this is why black diamond

44:53consultations exist because i sat down one time and i said you know what it don't make no sense

44:58you're sitting here running multi-million dollar companies for these people you're running multi-million

45:05dollar companies for all of these corporations from this corporation to that one and coming up with

45:11all these plans and helping somebody else build their business and doing it for years with a smile on

45:17your face but i just got disgusted with myself because you can't even manage your bank account

45:23how you gonna manage somebody else's money look at pnl statements go back and forth and do back

45:29flips to help them save and make sure that they come in in budgets but you couldn't even do it

45:33for

45:34your own family that was the game changer for me that's when i said okay black diamond consultations

45:39has to exist we need to do something a little bit differently because how the hell you spent

45:4420 years in retail how do you spend 20 years in retail managing somebody else's money and you

45:51can't even do it for yourself exactly absolutely not absolutely not we're not doing that i'm gonna

45:57leave you with some uh um scriptures here before we get it get on out of here i know we

46:02up against

46:03the clock but i i was dead set on on figuring this out here there's so many first of all

46:08ladies and

46:08gentlemen the bible has 75 percent teachings about money i don't think y'all heard me i'm gonna say it

46:15again the bible has 75 of the bible the holy bible that same one that's people sometimes refuse to

46:22pick up because it's so religious and it's so spiritual and oh this and oh that in that book

46:30that same book that you might have talked some crazy talk about back in a back in a day or

46:35maybe just

46:36yesterday 75 of that book is about managing your finances now proverbs has a lot about it

46:45this proverb says the rich man's wealth is strong excuse me proverbs 10 15 the rich man's wealth is his

46:53strong city the destruction of the poor is their poverty the labor of the righteous tended to life

47:01the fruit of the wicked is sin now i didn't go on and on and on but several different scriptures

47:09speak

47:09about people who refuse to get up and do what they're supposed to do and and tend for themselves

47:14which is basically the cost of living if you're sitting around being lazy it ain't gonna work for

47:20you if you're sitting around waiting for somebody else to pay your bills and make your way it ain't

47:24gonna work for you all of this stuff is in the bible and several different books and listen it's real

47:33it's

47:33deep i'm telling you when i found that out and i knew that i said okay this is a game

47:38changer okay

47:42oh yeah you gotta get on up out of here yeah i know we up against the clock so

47:48go ahead and let us know um what you got going on this week what you have going on uh

47:54tomorrow evening

47:56i have the uh it's a program i'm on every once a month every thursday it's out of hackensack

48:02new jersey uh you know we sit back on it's a couple poets and musicians and we we just sit

48:10back and talk

48:11about our projects what we doing it's more it's just a friendly thing amongst us and then uh

48:19saturday and sunday i don't know which day it is but i know uh and it might be next week

48:27i don't know

48:28they flip-flop every second and third sunday but right now i don't i don't have nothing going on

48:35the only thing i have going on is working on some videos since my book is gone sent out already

48:42all

50:11consideration i post and i try to post you know different pictures from different places so

50:22um on spotify coffee wine and words i have um a video i have videos there which i'm going to

50:30say

50:30i keep saying as i've been saying for the last two weeks i'm gonna send a new one to see

50:35if you know

50:36will they get accepted that's about it okay that's about it all right all right i appreciate that this

50:52a lot of different things going on but march is something else you say they say march comes in like

51:03lot of events coming up so i'm i'm i'm preparing this week for starting preparing getting my poems together

51:11for each one that's what's up yeah because like i said the next two next two weeks it's gonna be

51:20you know i'm gonna have some i'm gonna have some starting on it starts wednesday and then you know

51:26it's like it's like two pregnant two programs thursday two saturday two sunday you know that's how

51:35it's gonna be yeah that's good that's good yeah i'm looking honestly i'm looking forward to april now

51:43so wow you're jumping ahead jumping ahead yeah i gotta fix some things behind the scenes but yeah

51:53all right well let's go and get on out of here so we can hit our deadline and i appreciate

53:17proverbs and proverbs 6 6 says go to the ant thou slugger consider her ways and be wise one thing

53:24about the ant is that the walk the ant is always working when it is summertime the ant is thinking

53:32about winter as soon as winter comes the ant is thinking about summer so if we act as if the

53:39ant does

53:41and all of the things that you do in all your might not saying it is going to work out

53:45a hundred

53:46percent but the chances are that you will be on point as if you have a work ethic of the

53:52ant you

53:52know that that ant is always working look at an ant they'll never stop and of course i'm not saying

53:59that that's the life we want to be where we never stop but if you do what you're supposed to

54:03do when you

54:03were younger by the time you get old to the point where you can't do it no more you will

54:08be well off

54:09because you have had that ant mentality from day one so go to the ant thou slugger consider her ways
