03:56What's going on, what's going on, what's going on, everybody?
03:59Welcome, welcome, welcome on in.
04:01Welcome to another wonderful, amazing episode of Reading Between the Wines.
04:09And, wow, we are here, episode 17.
04:13And I'm so grateful, and I'm so thankful for this whole experience.
04:19So, before we get into this tonight, of course, I have to give a very special thank you to my
04:26executive producer, my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
04:29Thank you so much for giving me enough strength, wisdom, courage to come out here and do this thing night
04:38after night.
04:39And, of course, thank you for giving me such amazing, wonderful people who support me during this whole process.
04:48And each and every one of you out there, thank you so much for joining in.
04:53I want to say good morning to all of y'all out there.
04:56Thank you all for listening and rocking with me in the morning.
04:59Facebook, I appreciate y'all early in the morning.
05:02Y'all are there with me.
05:05Thank you so much to all of the other platforms.
05:08You can catch us on, like I said, Facebook, Spotify, Deezer, iHeartRadio, Twitch, DLive, Dailymotion, and that's just to name
05:25a few.
05:25So, check out the 4-in-1 podcast, Reading Between the Wines, wherever you listen to your favorite podcast.
05:33So, it's official and we arrived and we're here.
05:37And, you know, again, I have to say thank you so much for this.
05:41You know, it's going to be a great episode.
05:44I will tell you that, unfortunately, this is going to be a dry episode.
05:50I was going to sample something, but I just error on the, I guess I'm saying that right, on the
05:58side of, I'm just basically just said, you know, let me just go ahead and sit this one out.
06:04So, unfortunately, I don't like to, you know, claim these things and put these things on me, but it's reality.
06:10I have to face it.
06:12I don't like this time of year when it's the weather the way it is, but I have a couple
06:18sniffles and what I like to call the itchy and scratchy throat.
06:24I didn't even know I was going to be able to do this podcast tonight, but I do have my
06:27tea.
06:28So, unfortunately, ladies, there will be no wine tasting tonight.
06:31I thought that, you know, like I said, I err on the side of caution to, you know, even though
06:37I have that taste in my mouth for some wine, I said, we're just going to sit out with this,
06:42with this good hot tea here, hot lemon tea with some cinnamon.
06:46So, yeah, there's no wine tasting tonight.
06:53But we're still going to have a great episode.
06:56So, let's do this.
06:57Let's get right on into it.
07:02Song of the Day, On and On, by Miss Erykah Badu, released in 1997 off of her debut album, Baduism.
07:12This was a great album.
07:13I will say this is legendary.
07:16This is classic material.
07:18And on and on.
07:22How many things in your life just keep going on and on?
07:26How many relationships that don't longer serve your purpose just continue to go on and on?
07:31How many friendships do we say, I'm just friends with them because, and now you have to deal with the
07:38nonsense, you have to deal with the drama, and you have to deal with the on and on and on
07:42and on.
07:43How many times do you say that you're going to quit that job, but you don't, and you go into
07:48work, and you still deal with the same nonsense, and the drama, and the BS, and the disrespectful situations, and
07:55they just continue to go on and on and on.
07:58Think about it.
07:59And now we're going to talk about the financial aspect of it.
08:03We're going to talk about how many times do we say that we're going to do better, but yet we
08:08don't.
08:09And now our same financial struggles and the financial issues and situations that we dealt with last year in 2025
08:17have slowly but surely creeped into where we are here right here today in 2026.
08:24And these things continue to keep going on and on and on and on.
08:28See, an old mentor told me, Laren, when you know better, you do better, and easier said than done.
08:37So many times and so often do we get so fixated and caught up and wrapped up and trapped up
08:44with social media content, you know, looking at what the next person has.
08:51Listen, that we don't look in the mirror.
08:56We don't challenge ourselves.
08:59We are so busy comparing ourselves to other people, and by doing that, we lose the game.
09:07Ladies and gentlemen, yes, we lose the game because while we're sitting there comparing and liking and swiping left and
09:17swiping right and all of the things that we do that is in this wonderful world of social media.
09:21And, okay, for those of you who are not in social media, maybe it's the people on your job.
09:27Okay, for those of the people who don't have a situation at their job, maybe it's the next door neighbor.
09:34Maybe it's the people in our communities.
09:37Maybe it's people on our own four walls.
09:40It could be family members that we're comparing ourselves to their situations, their financial situations, where they've been, where they're
09:47going, instead of looking at that person in a mirror, instead of comparing your yesterday to today.
09:55While all of this is going on, the things that we fight for and the things that we struggle and
10:02the things that we want to make better, we don't because we're too busy looking outside instead of looking in.
10:10And, therefore, the same situations, the same scenarios continue to keep going on and on and on.
10:19Song of the Day, On and On, by Erykah Badu, released in 1997 off of her debut album, Baduism.
10:28Help you here.
10:31What's one thing?
10:33What's one thing that you're going to take from this message?
10:36What is one thing that you're going to take from this podcast episode and apply it to your real-life
10:42situation so that you can stop some of the things that continuously go on and on?
10:51All right.
10:52So now, now that we got through the song of the day, and again, if I happen to mute the
10:59mic, listen, I'm just having a little situation over here where I got to get my voice together.
11:05It happens every so often, but I'm going to get through this episode tonight.
11:12So I'm going to talk about Pinot Noir, and it's called the Heartbreak Grape, and I'm going to explain why.
11:20So, admirers of this impossible, difficult grape love to debate over which California wine region produces the best Pinot Noir.
11:29There is no definite answer, but the main contenders are generally through the Sonoma Coast and the Russian River Valley.
11:38Sonoma Coast is too recently planted for anyone to be certain about its potential, but its Pinot Noirs can have
11:47exquisite perfume and considerable finesse and purity.
11:53Caneros, while fresh and fruity, is rarely complex or long-lived, and Russian River Valley delivers more layered wines and
12:05Burgundian nuances and the ability to age for the medium term.
12:11There are other areas of notes from the central and southern regions, but it is the north coast that has
12:19the largest track record.
12:21California Pinot Noir rarely emulates Burgundy, but the combination of selected sites, good clones, and sensitive winemaking is beginning to
12:33produce some of the world-class wines.
12:35So, I just learned something new. I had no idea that there were so many different variations of Pinot Noir,
12:43and it's such a debatable grape, actually.
12:50I will tell you that when I first started drinking wine, I stayed away from the red wines, but as
12:59I learned over the years, and again, hey, I'm no expert at this, but I've learned that you will appreciate
13:06the red wines in the wintertime.
13:10Tonight would have been a great night, but again, of course, you know what I'm dealing with.
13:14So, I just want to say thank you all so much for joining in on another episode of Reading Between
13:21the Wines, and next week, we're going to go ahead and do it up real big.
13:27So, thank you for joining in.
13:33All right, so now, without further ado, I'm going to go ahead and bring in my special guest, author, poet,
13:42Birdman313.
13:55What's going on? What's going on?
13:58Hey, how's it going?
14:04Well, you know, I got to get my voice together.
14:07Yeah. Can you hear me?
14:10I can hear you good, but I got to keep muting my mic every now and then, because I'm sure
14:15y'all don't want to hear me having a fit over here.
14:18Okay, okay.
14:20All right, everything going well, man.
14:22Weather is pretty decent here.
14:24Just a little windy, but other than that, it's fairly decent.
14:29Lil' Kim says, when I blow, it gets a little windy.
14:36So, whenever the wind gets crazy, I just think a Lil' Kim for some reason. I have no idea.
14:42Oh, man. There you go.
14:47I got to do something to make myself laugh, because these past couple days, oh, man.
14:55I don't like this time of year.
14:59You know, it's been different this year.
15:02You know, I mean, it's hot, cold, rainy.
15:05Hot, cold, rainy.
15:07You know, and it's been windy.
15:10And, you know, it's just been crazy.
15:14I don't know if that's what it is.
15:16I don't know if it's allergies.
15:17I don't know what it is.
15:18But whatever it is, I don't appreciate it.
15:20I'll tell you that much.
15:21It might be allergies, because I know down here, man, the pollen is real bad.
15:27And, you know, over the last couple years, I cannot stand outside like I used to no more during this
15:38time.
15:38You know, and every time, if I stay outside too long, I end up going to the doctor, getting shot,
15:46getting, you know, medication and all that.
15:49Diana, she's, you know, she's saying she won't go to the doctor, but she medicate every day, though.
15:57You know, and she medicate.
16:00And I had, you know, I had to go to physical therapy this morning, and, you know, we had a
16:08nice little walk across the parking lot.
16:11The wind was blowing.
16:12And then she said, do you want to go to the park?
16:14She said, I'm going to sit in the car while you walk.
16:16I'm like, no, take me home.
16:21You know, I can make up for it.
16:23But, you know, other than that, man, everything seemed to be going well.
16:29That's good.
16:29That's good.
16:31I want to say, anybody out there who wants to join the master class, please go ahead and text the
16:38word PEACE to 609-210-98.
16:41Again, that's 609-210-98.
16:45That master class is coming up.
16:47And if you want more information on how you can get a seat, please.
16:51And I want to say thank you so much to everybody out there who has registered.
16:56This is going to be a big one.
16:58This is a good one.
16:59Y'all definitely want to join the spiritual cost of debt.
17:03It's coming.
17:04I just had to throw that out there.
17:05Sorry about that.
17:10All right.
17:11So, you ready to get into our money hack segment?
17:15Oh, yeah.
17:17All right.
17:17This is going to be a good episode tonight, y'all.
17:20Most certainly is.
17:22I'm ready.
17:22I'm ready.
17:22So, what number you got for me?
17:27Let's try 20.
17:3020.
17:30Okay.
17:31Let's see.
17:35Let's see what we got here tonight.
17:40Ah, this is a good one.
17:43Don't be in a rush to cancel your credit cards.
17:45I've said this plenty of times.
17:48The length of your credit history account for 15.
18:06Let me back up.
18:08When I said do not cancel your first credit card, keep it open.
18:11But if you were to cancel a card with a long history, that could be a ding to your credit
18:16score.
18:17That said, it makes little sense to keep a card that changes.
18:22Let me back up again.
18:24I got excited again.
18:25That said, it makes little sense to keep a card that charges a high annual fee.
18:31Now, I'm going to chime in.
18:33I shouldn't do this.
18:34I should just read it.
18:35But I just can't help myself.
18:36If you have a credit card that charges you any type of fee, you don't need it.
18:42Okay.
18:43So, I'm going to continue.
18:44I had to catch myself.
18:45If you have other cards with established histories, it can be okay to cancel one card, but don't cancel a
18:53bunch all at once.
18:54The other issue with canceling a card is that it will change your total credit limit, and that will impact
18:59your credit, excuse me, that will impact your debt to credit limit score.
19:04For example, if you cancel a card with a $5,000 credit limit, your total credit limit will be reduced
19:11by $5,000.
19:12That will likely cause your debt to credit limit ratio to rise.
19:17So, there we go.
19:19Ladies and gentlemen, don't cancel your oldest credit card.
19:23Again, I can't give you any advice.
19:25Go ahead and do your own due diligence and research, but Birdman, what do you think about this?
19:30That's kind of funny that that one came up because just before I got on here on the news, they
19:38were saying how things, you know, people will start using their credit cards a little bit more because of the
19:45way the economy, you know, with the gas prices going up and everything else.
19:51And they were saying how more and more people are going to get in bigger debt.
19:57And they said that, and it's going to be because of credit card.
20:01They're going to use their credit cards more than anything else.
20:06Robin Peter.
20:08Yes, yes.
20:10And I thought that was, I'm like, you know what, that's, I thought about, well, then all of a sudden
20:14you popped in my mind because you're always talking about it.
20:16And I've kind of settled on just keeping my credit cards.
20:24I have, and I use them every once in a while just to keep them active, you know, and when
20:31I do use them, I try not to charge nothing over $100 on them, you know, because, I mean, even
20:41though I pay it back, I'll pay it back on time.
20:43That's just, I've gotten into that, I guess, that mode now where I don't want to charge more to so
20:54much where I can't keep it paid down.
20:57Because I know how I am, I'll get to a certain point and I'll just skip it and let it,
21:02you know, run out.
21:03So, I don't need that because I'm out of credit card debt right now and I want to stay that
21:10way.
21:13That's what's up, congratulations.
21:16That is an awesome place to be.
21:17You sleep better at night.
21:19Yes, yes.
21:20You sleep better at night.
21:23And you don't have to worry about your phone ringing all the, you know, by, you know, you owe us.
21:30Right.
21:30Where can we get our payment, you know?
21:32You know, you owe us, you know.
21:34So, you know, we did our part.
21:37Now it's time for you to do your part.
21:39Now I don't need all of that.
21:41Exactly, exactly.
21:43So, yeah, ladies and gentlemen, again, like I said, do your own due diligence and your own research.
21:48I'm not a financial advisor.
21:50I am not a financial planner.
21:52I am a financial coach.
21:53And my job is to help you, you know, dig deep and discover your relationship with money.
22:02And debt is definitely not something you should have a relationship with.
22:07I separated myself from debt a long time ago, and I want no parts of it.
22:14No parts of it.
22:15I agree with you on that.
22:18Yeah.
22:18They call it a separation.
22:20You can call it a divorce.
22:22You can call it whatever you want to call it.
22:23But I call it an annulment, because love don't live here, no more.
22:28Yeah.
22:29Absolutely not.
22:30All right.
22:31So, let's get into tonight's assignment.
22:35We going in your hometown, your area.
22:37We in Texas.
22:40Dallas, how far are you in Dallas?
22:45I think Dallas is like a six-hour drive.
22:49Oh, that's not close.
22:52Wow.
22:53No, no, no.
22:53It's not like me going to Austin, San Antonio, or Galveston.
22:58No.
23:01Okay.
23:02This is where the real –
23:04And it could be less than that.
23:05It could be four hours, four or five.
23:08Yeah, four or five hours, really.
23:15So, tonight, we're going to speak about what I like to call lifestyle creep.
23:20And lifestyle creep is when you get a promotion on your job, something happens, you run into
23:28a lump sum of money all at once, and you might have residual income coming in.
23:34Your life just changed, and you got an increase.
23:36You got to bump up.
23:37You leveled up.
23:39This is what happens when we have lifestyle creep, and I'm going to get into this as we
23:43go through.
23:43But we're going to help out Miss Stephanie from Dallas, Texas.
23:47And she says,
23:48Last year, I got a promotion that I had been praying for.
23:52Bigger title, bigger paycheck.
23:54Everyone around me kept saying the same thing, you made it.
23:58For a while, I believed that.
24:00I upgraded my apartment.
24:02Nothing crazy, just something nicer.
24:04I replaced my car because I felt like the old one just didn't match the new version of me.
24:08I started eating out more because, in my mind, I finally earned it.
24:13Here we are a year later, and I'm confused.
24:15I make more money than I ever have, but I don't feel more stable.
24:20If anything, the pressure feels heavier.
24:22The bills are bigger.
24:23The expectations are bigger.
24:25And somehow, my savings still looks the same.
24:27Wine nights used to be a way of celebrating progress.
24:30Now, they become moments where I sit with the quiet question I keep avoiding.
24:36Where did the raise actually go?
24:39I don't feel irresponsible.
24:41I just feel like every time my income grows, my lifestyle grows right along with it.
24:47I worked hard to move forward, but I'm starting to wonder if I've just made a more expensive
24:53version of the same situations.
24:56How do I keep growth from turning into pressure?
25:00What do you have for Ms. Stephanie here?
25:04Trying to keep up with the Joneses.
25:07You know, what got me the most about this was saying that when she said everybody was telling
25:15her that, you know, oh, you're finally there.
25:22I mean, I'm trying to figure out what you, you know, what you mean?
25:26She, you know, by they saying, telling her she's finally there, what do they mean by that?
25:33I mean, you know, everybody work hard.
25:37Some people get a nice little raise.
25:39Some don't.
25:40You know, and she started doing upgrading.
25:47Well, that's what happens.
25:49You know, and I have to say, we all, I know I went through that.
25:55You know, I had, was in an accident and I got some money and I'll never forget I was going
26:03to get me a car and I told my dad, we went to a car lot and I said, I
26:09want to pay cash
26:10for it.
26:11And my dad looked at me and he said, why do you want to spend all your money in one
26:16place?
26:17I said, because every time I get a vehicle with a car note, I don't keep it.
26:24I'm going to keep this.
26:26Yeah.
26:26I'm going to keep it.
26:27I knew, I knew what my situation was as far as how much money I was making.
26:33And this was a chance for me to get me a vehicle and give me a nice vehicle and pay
26:40cash for
26:40it instead of having a car note.
26:42I said, I have too many bills.
26:43I don't need an extra bill.
26:48And she's saying that, and then another thing she said that the car she had didn't match
26:54her position.
26:56I'm, you know, I don't understand that either because long that, you know, that vehicle got
27:03you where you want to go, that's all, that's all you needed.
27:07But a lot of people, a lot of people are like that.
27:13You know, that when they get more money, what's the old saying?
27:18More money, more problems.
27:20Notorious B.I.G.
27:21I know that's right.
27:23You know, more money, more problems.
27:25And that's the truth because what we do is, you know, she was going out a lot to eat and
27:33you fall into that trap where, oh, I can, I can do this.
27:38I can do that.
27:38Instead of saying, I need to put a little bit, you know, instead of doing that, this raise
27:46I got, try to put that up for a rainy day.
27:51And I mean, I'm guilty.
27:52I was guilty of that too.
27:54You know, I was guilty of that.
27:57You know, and I think we all somewhere down the line fall into that category one time or
28:06another.
28:07Oh, yeah.
28:09Oh, yeah.
28:10I like the fact.
28:12Go ahead.
28:13No, go ahead.
28:15I like the fact that you brought up the point that who was this raise for?
28:22Was this raise for you or for your friends or your family that they kept saying the same
28:28thing?
28:28You made it.
28:29You made it.
28:29Bigger title, bigger paycheck.
28:31Everyone around me kept saying the same thing.
28:33You made it.
28:35Here's the problem that we probably should be very cautious about bragging just a little
28:41bit too much because you start bragging.
28:44You start putting yourself up on a pedestal.
28:47People around you will big you up and put you on a pedestal too.
28:52But is it for your benefit or is it for their benefit?
28:56And by you bigging yourself up so much, you might be giving yourself a big hit.
29:01And getting way too far ahead of yourself.
29:05And pride comes first and then it's destruction.
29:09So this is a prime example of that humble humility.
29:13It works so well.
29:15Yes.
29:16And, you know, that's why I said that, you know, because, you know, when I read this,
29:21I read it over and, you know, everyone kept saying the same thing.
29:26You made it.
29:28You made it.
29:28How many people are you telling that you got a raise or promote, you know, whatever?
29:34And did you tell them how much?
29:36Because when you do that, you bring it in the wrong crowd.
29:41I know that's right.
29:43You know, you bring it in the wrong crowd.
29:47I had a friend.
29:48He played in the NBA.
29:52And I had, I had played with him.
29:55Well, that's where the Rockets, they go and hang out at.
29:59It's called the Fonday Center.
30:00I used to go down there when I was younger, play ball.
30:04So I'm not going to put, I ain't going to call the guy's name out.
30:08Well, he done passed away, passed away two years ago.
30:11But he was in that situation where he wasn't, you know, he was one, he was like making that minimum
30:18wage.
30:19And he lived in an apartment.
30:22He had a, you know, he had a nice vehicle.
30:26It was an Oldsmobile, you know.
30:29And soon as he got it, got a raise, he moved out because mostly all the athletes in Houston and
30:39the surrounding area, they move out in Missouri City or Sugar Land because that's where the big homes are.
30:45And he bought him a home out there in Missouri City.
30:50We got him a Benz.
30:51And this was after the playoffs.
30:53They had went to the finals and they had lost to Boston.
30:57And I'll give you kind of like a hint who it was.
31:01They said he was the only one that ever played decent defense on Larry Bird.
31:07And so, like, so he moved out there.
31:12His attitude changed.
31:14His friends changed.
31:16And within a couple years, man, everybody started noticing a change in him.
31:23And he thought he was better than what he really was.
31:31And so then, you know, like I said, by me playing ball, I met a lot of Rockets players because
31:38we would play down in the summer.
31:39You know, in the summer, I would play in the summer leagues with some of the players, you know.
31:44And I remember a couple of them, they got busted for cocaine.
31:54And, you know, I said something.
31:56And then he said, oh, yeah, he used to hang around with, you know, the snitch.
31:59And I'm like, the snitch?
32:01And I didn't know what they was talking about.
32:05And then I thought about it.
32:07And I'm like, oh, man, he's snitching now.
32:11And you know what?
32:12He didn't last long with the Rockets.
32:14The Rockets got rid of him.
32:15And that was some of the reasons because it was three players that went and told him that he, that
32:21we know that he snitched on us to help his other buddy, you know, get some playing time.
32:29Then he took a, yeah, then he took a leave saying, oh, I'm leaving for a religious reason.
32:36The religious reason was he was doing cocaine and he decided, and his mother, well, his mother was a minister.
32:47His grandmother was a minister.
32:49And when he went to Florida and went through a drug treatment center, but they kept it so quiet.
32:57And then they let him come back.
32:59And when he came back, when he finally came back, he had a more level head.
33:05He wouldn't spend his money on cocaine like he was, you know, because like I said, yeah, pride, pride comes
33:15first and then destruction.
33:17Right.
33:18The Bible clearly lays that out.
33:20Yeah.
33:20And then he finally, he settled down.
33:23He got married, you know, and he got out that Ben's.
33:28He got out the Jerry curl, you know, that era there.
33:32And he kind of like just kind of laid back and he was real quiet.
33:38But that kind of like leveled him off by him, had to go to a drug treatment center and his
33:45grandmother and mother both being ministers.
33:50You never know what rock bottom people have to go through in order for them to get it together.
33:55And I, I, I'm stuck on, I guess that's the right word, but I'm going to stay on.
34:03Here we go.
34:04You, you saying about the, the ministers and stuff like that from my experience, even though
34:13that they get up there and they sit up there in a pulpit and they say these great stories and
34:18lead different congregations,
34:20sometimes their households can be, be the most destructive and turned upside down.
34:25And they produce some of the most wicked and crazy things out there.
34:28But.
34:29Oh yeah.
34:32Move past that one.
34:36I, I, I, I, I want to talk about the car situation.
34:40I want to get this in.
34:41I like how you said that when you came into a lump sum of money, you spoke about how you
34:49wanted to keep a car.
34:51So you said, I'm going to pay for this car with cash.
34:56And even though I know you said it at the moment that your father said, well, what are you going
35:00to do?
35:00Why are you trying to spend your money all in one place?
35:05Um, that was a good, good tip right there that you gave everybody because it is wise to pay in
35:10cash.
35:12Now, do we spend all of our money on a car?
35:15I don't know what the situation is, but I've been in the same situation as, um, Stephanie here tonight.
35:25Where you think that, you know, you got to upgrade, you got to do this.
35:28You got to do that.
35:28You pull into a lot.
35:30The next person next to you to have a better car, you go on to work and you might feel
35:34a certain way.
35:36I ended up buying two cars because I want to, I wanted to flex going into work.
35:42I had a Camaro.
35:45And one day, and then I pull in with a pickup truck the next day.
35:48I thought that I was doing something big, but even though I still bought them with cash.
35:53Yeah.
35:54I was just spending money and I was so concerned about what somebody else thought of me.
35:57So that is the downfall of when you are so consumed of worrying about what somebody else thinks of you.
36:05But I did like the fact that you bought the car in cash.
36:07And that's exactly, uh, what, you know, I teach here at Black Diamond Consultations when it comes to debt-free
36:15living.
36:16And pay for your cars in cash.
36:18Let somebody else do the front work for you by financing.
36:22And then when they turn it in or they get it repossessed or they can't afford the payments.
36:28If you're smart enough, you'll be able to take off, you know, take that car off their hands with minimal
36:33mileage.
36:34And, you know, they've done the front work for you.
36:38Yeah.
36:38I've learned that.
36:39Oh, go ahead.
36:40Go ahead.
36:40Go ahead.
36:41I'll put this in here and I say this.
36:44Do you know that most millionaires, and I'll put most because sometimes I just say millionaires in general.
36:49But I'll be, I'll be smart with my comments.
36:53But most millionaires, they do not buy brand new cars.
36:58Yes.
37:01Yes.
37:01So, I, I, I don't know, I was just fixated on a car situation.
37:05I, um, I learned that because, you know, like I said, I've done a lot of counseling.
37:09And I, I learned that from talking to a lot of, you know, the clients I had.
37:16And, uh, you know, I counsel male and females.
37:22And it was most of them females.
37:24They the one that tripped me out when they say, this one lady, she just up and told me, she
37:30said, hey, a person that has just a regular vehicle, I'm with somebody with a whole lot, you know, like
37:37these expensive cars.
37:39She said, I'm not with them because they don't have no money because all their money is in their vehicle.
37:45And, and I, you know, I thought I had to sit back and think about that.
37:49And she said, look on your face.
37:51I said, I never thought about it like that, you know, cause when somebody run into a lot of money,
37:58what do they do?
38:00They go and they dress better.
38:04Okay.
38:06Clothes.
38:06Clothes.
38:07Jewelry.
38:08Jewelry.
38:09Yeah.
38:10And like she said, she moved into a bigger apartment.
38:14That wasn't even necessary.
38:17See, that's unnecessary.
38:19That's unnecessary money.
38:20That's more money she putting out.
38:22And then when she looked back, she seen where her raise was, you know, it was like, she didn't have
38:29a raise because she upgraded to every, she upgraded so much.
38:36That the raise just, you know, she wiped that out.
38:41Right.
38:42And I tell people, I tell, excuse me, even my kids, I tell them, I said, man, you know, me
38:51and my youngest son was talking about that the other day.
38:55And I, and he said that that's for the rich people.
38:59He said, I can't, he said, I don't, we was talking about all, it's an area up in Austin.
39:04It's just like Beverly Hills.
39:05It's a comedy club there.
39:07And that's what we was talking about.
39:08And he said, that ain't my style, dad.
39:11I said, yeah.
39:12I said, I know what you mean, man.
39:13I said, we just go to the comedy club there.
39:16I said, as far as us going at, we ain't never walked down the street, you know, we just go,
39:22we've been there.
39:23We've been in, we've been in a comedy club twice and come to find out a lot of stores from
39:30Beverly Hills have moved or opened up, you know, shop there.
39:37And I know a lot of people who said they just go there.
39:41You know, some do go there to shop because they got the money and some don't.
39:46And one thing I can tell this lady has, has not had any training.
39:56I don't know if I want to say training with finances or she hadn't talked to anybody because of the
40:04things that she said.
40:07And it's a, it's a, it's a lot of people like that.
40:12And I mean, my, even myself and I tell people, I said, man, I didn't got out of debt.
40:18I don't have no headaches no more.
40:20I can sleep at night.
40:21I don't think about, you know, bill collector calling me.
40:27It's just basic financial literacy that most people don't know.
40:32And it affects their relationship with money.
40:35Right.
40:36That's a great way to sum it up.
40:37Right, right, right.
40:38And I just, I just feel for her, you know, but she the one made that, she the one made
40:47that move and hey, she just have to deal with it.
40:51And that's, and that is a great segue to wrap it up.
40:55I'm glad you said that because her last question was, how do you keep growth from turning into pressure?
41:00And you said she made that decision.
41:02You know, as the old folks said, you made your bed, you got to lie in it.
41:06Yeah.
41:06My friend used to tell me, Laren, we write our own stories.
41:12So I'm going to leave everybody with this.
41:14Whatever situation you're dealing with, whether it's financial, whether it's spiritually, whether it's physically, whether it's mentally.
41:22And I know it's tough love and some people may not want to hear it, but we write our own
41:26stories.
41:27So think about what you did to get to this situation here.
41:31And tomorrow is another opportunity to change it.
41:35Not saying that you're going to snap your fingers like who used to do that.
41:40I mean, Jeannie, be which you are, be which anything like that.
41:44Not saying you're going, you're going to be able to do it, but it's a step towards moving towards rewriting
41:50a new chapter in your life.
41:53Yeah.
41:54And that's basically it.
41:55And you know what, maybe, maybe if she downsized, which I don't think she would because she want every, it's
42:03again, she want everybody to look up to her and say, oh, she's doing well.
42:09But that's the first thing everybody holler, especially in the neighborhood.
42:13Oh, he done came up.
42:15Oh, he done came up.
42:16Oh, she done came up.
42:18Came up to what?
42:20You know, more problems.
42:22That's all she came up to or he came up to.
42:26And after a while, once you get it, sometimes that's unnecessary pressure.
42:29Nobody wants that.
42:30I don't want it today.
42:32I don't need nobody to look up and all that extra stuff.
42:35I'm good today.
42:38So.
42:40There we go.
42:41We made it.
42:42We made another episode.
42:46Episode 17.
42:48The promotion that didn't fix anything.
42:52I'm sorry, Stephanie.
42:54We got to work on fixing that next time around, but it ain't fix anything if you don't change your
42:59financial habits.
43:01So.
43:01Exactly.
43:03You want to let the good folks know what you got going on this week.
43:09Where are you going to be at?
43:10Well, this week is another light week as far as reading.
43:15I got one Saturday.
43:18Austin Poetry Society is going to be on Zoom.
43:22I have one Sunday.
43:24And like I said, I'm going to toss a coin on that one again.
43:28It's either going to be Artful Dodger out of New York or it's going to be Performance Poets out of
43:36Florida.
43:37I'm going to toss a coin on that.
43:39Last month, I went to Artful Dodger.
43:41I mean, like I was telling you one time, I enjoy that because of the people in the poems that
43:51they be reading.
43:53So, I mean, there's nothing wrong with Performance Poets, you know, but it's just, I guess, I guess it's just
44:04a thing that people are more friendly.
44:08I guess what it was, I had to find out exactly what it was, but I found out that a
44:13lot of poets that's on Artful Dodger are more friendly towards me than the ones from down in Florida, believe
44:23it or not.
44:24And then, you know, that's all I have that I can think of right now until next week, you know.
44:34I said that's what I was going to, I wanted to see.
44:42Yeah, next week is really going to be, I'm going to be doing two readings almost every night or doing
44:52something.
44:53I'm going to be doing two things.
44:54Yeah, from, you know, Wednesday, Thursday, and on out during the rest of the week.
45:02So, but my book, I had to return.
45:08It was done, but there was some things that need to be changed.
45:15And so I had to return, I had to contact them, and hopefully my book will be out my 16th,
45:24I mean, no, 15th, I'm sorry.
45:27My 15th book should be out, hopefully by the end of this month.
45:32That's what I said.
45:33Um, yeah, my other books you can find on Amazon slash Birdman313.
45:43Um, you can find me on Instagram, uh, Birdman31355.
45:49You can find me on YouTube, author, poet, Birdman31355.
45:55Or if you just put Birdman313, you know, you can find me there too.
46:02Oh man, I'm on it, on it that way.
46:06Um, I'm also on Spotify, on a, uh, it's called Coffee and Wine's platform.
46:12I have videos there, so.
46:17That's what's up.
46:18You know, I'm hoping, I'm hoping to branch out a few more other players.
46:21I keep saying that, and I really ain't made the move yet, because I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm dealing with this
46:28book, Hugh.
46:30So, you know.
46:31I'm going to, I'm going to tell you one reason why, and this is, this is a coaching moment here.
46:36One reason why you haven't branched out.
46:39You want to know why?
46:40Why?
46:42Because you use the word hope.
46:44Take the word hope out of your vocabulary.
46:45Things will change for you.
46:48Just say, I'm branching out into different avenues.
46:51Every day, just say, I'm branching out into these new avenues, and keep saying that, and it'll definitely show up
46:57eventually.
46:58Yeah, you know, you're right about that.
47:00Now, I also, I know we're up against the clock.
47:03We only got a few minutes.
47:04Can you tell us, because next week is, um, we're going to be doing the recording, uh, for the Disc
47:14Six Vitality Live.
47:16So, we're going to be focusing on that next week, Lights, Cameras, Action.
47:21So, by the time people, you listen to the podcast, you will be able to view the visuals of it
47:29by the time you get to the next episode.
47:31Because I know we, it's a little delayed.
47:33So, in a minute or less, what would you describe what everyone is in store for when it comes to
47:43the readings that you're going to be doing here on the show next week?
47:48So, I'm going to do some, I'm going to do just some nature poems.
47:52I'm not, I'm trying to get away from the, the, um, negative poems or the revolutionary poems.
47:59I'm trying to stick with just nature poems, something relaxing, inspirational.
48:12So, you there?
48:17Oh, you can't hear me?
48:33Hey, are you there?
48:52Can you hear me?
49:09Are you there?
49:11Are you there?
49:11I'm, I'm here now.
49:12Can you hear me now?
49:14Yeah, I have no idea what happened.
49:17Yeah, I was, yeah, I was, uh, like, uh, can you hear me?
49:23I kept saying, oh, okay.
49:25It was a little technical difficulty, some sort of issue, but yeah, we could, we could.
49:30Yeah.
49:31All right.
49:31Oh, is this week coming up?
49:34Yeah, it'll be next week.
49:36Yep.
49:38Oh, okay.
49:39I mean, okay.
49:40Okay.
49:40I got, I got, I got, I got to, I got to find some, I, like I said, it's going
49:44to, you know,
49:44it's going to, it's going to be some decent poems.
49:47I'm not going to do, you know, I ain't got to worry about me doing no runchy poems.
49:51You know, nothing less, you know, that's how I call them, you know, but, um, like I said,
49:57it's going to be some, um, I probably, I probably read one of the poems I'm, I might read is
50:04going
50:04to be from this upcoming book.
50:07And that's what I may do.
50:08If I can read, uh, four poems, it's going to be a poem each from, from my last four books.
50:16All right.
50:16Well, uh, I'm excited.
50:18I'm sure everybody else, uh, listening, tuning in can't wait for it.
50:23So, um, I will rest up and be ready for next week and have a nice bottle of wine to
50:31accompany
50:31these great poems.
50:33So we, we, we going in next week.
50:37So yeah.
50:39Yeah.
50:39As always, I want to say thank you so much for joining in.
50:43You definitely bring a great insight and I appreciate it.
50:49This has been an amazing journey.
50:51We got so many episodes in and, um, yeah, I'm looking forward to so many more.
50:58So, uh, yeah, so am I, so am I appreciate you and, uh, we'll see you next week.
51:04Okay.
51:05You take care, man.
51:06You too.
51:07Have a good night.
51:08Yeah.
51:09Yeah.
51:09Good night.
51:10Take care now.
51:12All right, ladies and gentlemen, there you have it.

51:48visiting laryngaines.com and thought that you were going to go ahead and play games on the platform.
51:56I got one record for y'all.
51:59No more drama from my girl, Mary J.

52:03And then we can still be on that same album.
52:05And I got a record for you called, keep it moving.
52:08I'm just so thankful that God has given me enough strength, courage, and wisdom to get through.
52:13I had to do a lot of behind the scenes things to secure my website, laryngaines.com.
52:20And it has been accomplished.
52:22And I'm so thankful for that.
52:24So I have lots of great information, debt-free living resources available at laryngaines.com.

52:47If you want to go ahead and get in to the masterclass that is coming up on the 29th at
52:5312 p.m.
52:54It is a private live stream.
52:56It will not be broadcasted, and you'll be able to ask me questions.
53:01It's going to be a two-hour session.
53:03We're going in.
53:04When I do my one-hour teachings, I usually feel that that's not enough time.
53:08And so I do have a full two-hour, and I will not be up against the clock.
53:13So if you bring your energy for this masterclass and you ask lots of questions, I already know it's going
53:19to be off the chain by the registrations that have been coming in so far.
