We are less than two weeks away from the start of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

International cricket commentator Ian Bishop says if the West Indies are to reach far, all players must be consistent and not depend too much on captain Hayley Matthews.

00:00The West Indies are grouped alongside Bangladesh, England, Scotland and South Africa at the
00:04ICC Women's T20 World Cup in the UAE. The ladies in maroon play their opener on October
00:094th against the Proteas in Dubai. International cricket commentator Ian Bishop says it's time
00:14the other players take responsibility instead of relying solely on the big names which includes
00:19the skipper.
00:20Well I want to see an improved performance in terms of contributions from people other
00:27than the normal outstanding two now that Deandra Dutton is back to join Hayley Matthews
00:33and hopefully if that comes about you'll see the bowlers come into play and they'll give
00:38a good account of themselves.
00:40At the same time, the unassuming cricket guru believes the key players must also play a
00:44big role if the Windies are to reach the semis. After all, the Windies relied heavily on them
00:49when they attained glory at the 2016 edition in India.
00:52First of all, the women's game is getting stronger across all quarters. So England obviously,
00:58South Africa are going to be strong but you can't write off teams like Scotland. So I
01:03think for a long time Hayley Matthews has carried the burden of the West Indies batting.
01:08Deandra Dutton has put herself out of contention for a while but she's back so again we look
01:12to those two with bat and ball and in the field to carry this West Indies team.
01:17The man who troubled batsmen with Red Cherry in hand in his heyday has picked his favourite
01:22for the title. And his choice should come as no surprise since that team has won the
01:27T20 World Cup 6 out of 8 times.
01:29Well I would look beyond Australia, their defending champs and they continue to have
01:34one of the best franchise leagues for women across the globe. India now have their franchise
01:40league going so I suspect that we'll see an improved performance from them although they
01:45went deep last time in South Africa. And then we're looking at England. So I would
01:52bank sort of, if I'm not going to say the West Indies, I'm going to try to be neutral,
01:57I'd say Australia, India and England are going to be three of the top teams.
02:01Just for the record, Group A consists of Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
02:07Vinod Nawal, Natives Export.
