West Indies assistant coach Ryan Austin says it will mean a lot to this region should the ladies in maroon win the tournament.

But the next step is to get the better of Bangladesh in their group when the teams meet from 10am TT time.

Austin says the West Indies have what it takes come out on top against the women from the Asian continent.

00:00The West Indies have one win and one loss so far in their group at the Women's
00:04T20 World Cup in the UAE. Their next assignment is a crucial one against
00:08Bangladesh and Sharjah on Thursday. Bangladesh have a heavy spin attack but
00:13Windy's assistant coach Ryan Austin is not too worried about that. The team is
00:16pretty prepared you know we we obviously know that Bangladesh is is basically a
00:23spin based unit so we already know all these things but with our philosophy is
00:31now we more focus on what we can control but having said that we still have that
00:37element of power with our batting that you know that could come to the spin as
00:42well. Austin says net run rate can come into the equation with only two per
00:47group getting into the semis as such the aim is to bowl first if they win the
00:51toss and then try to reach the target as quickly as possible but are the
00:55Windy's capable of walking the talk? Well I mean knowing the girls that I have
01:02known for a really long time a lot of them are pretty confident be you have a
01:06Hayley Matthews and a Deandra Doughton and Stephanie Taylor in your side you
01:10know it becomes pretty easy you know because these girls have a lot of
01:13experience they are already having conversations amongst themselves they
01:18are already with the practice session tonight gonna be you know planning for
01:23that you know having said that Hayley hasn't scored any runs as yet so I am
01:29pretty sure she's hungry so Bangladesh and England better watch out.
01:35Having said that it's not just about a big three on the team Austin says the
01:40others in the squad are also quite capable of achieving big things on the
01:44cricket pitch. We also have some some players like like Chanel Henry who is
01:48really hitting the ball really hard and her confidence has grown from the last
01:52game you know after getting my player the match so you know she's been hitting
01:57it pretty well and there's also a Leah Alleyne who can hit it as well and from
02:02the top you can see that Kiana Joseph is coming well so with those
02:07big three that I called the other girls are really stepping up and stepping into
02:11line which is a positive for us. The West Indies won the T20 World Cup once
02:15in 2016 having beaten Australia in the final at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata so
02:21what would it mean to them should they make a title number two? It would do a
02:24lot for you know cricket on the whole back home where you know we would we
02:29always want to obviously you know encourage the younger girls coming up
02:34you know to want to play cricket I want to represent the West Indies so you know
02:40it would mean a really big deal for a lot of the girls obviously and having the
02:45prize money is it would be financially rewarding for some of them as well you
02:49know you know who are probably from a poor background and than some others.
02:54Regarding the team chemistry the Windies assistant coach says it's second to none
02:59which is another plus point.
