00:00The West Indies did not get the results they wanted against Sri Lanka in the bilateral women's ODI and T20
00:05series in Grenada.
00:07They next face Australia in the first of three T20 internationals under lights on Thursday from 6.30 p.m.
00:13in St. Vincent.
00:14Windies skipper Hayley Matthews is looking forward to playing at the Honours Vail Ground with the hope that many come
00:19out to support the ladies in Maroon.
00:21Obviously pretty happy to be here in the islands and here in St. Vincent.
00:26Somewhere we probably haven't been for quite a while so it's going to be pretty fun to be back out
00:30here at I guess such an iconic stadium but yeah hopefully we get to see a lot of people come
00:35out.
00:36We know the Vinci fans are always very passionate about their game and the West Indies team performing well so
00:42we'll be really good if we could get out there and give them some good performances and a lot to
00:47cheer for.
00:47Matthews is aware the Aussies are going to play tough cricket under Sophie Molyneux who has been appointed as the
00:53new all-format captain for the visiting team.
00:56As such Matthews is hoping the big players on the Windies team bring on their A game.
01:00I think we've got to focus a lot on our skills and what we can do really well.
01:05Obviously quite a challenging team and like you said the highest ranked in the world but yeah teams have had
01:11success against them and I think the good thing about T20 cricket is that it only takes one or two
01:17match winners to really go out there and change a game.
01:19So it's going to be really important for us that our big players do step up.
01:24I think that's going to be key to us having a successful campaign but we certainly have the players within
01:30the group to do so.
01:31The T20 World Cup bowls off in June in England and Wales with both the Windies and Aussies being among
01:37the participants.
01:38For that reason Matthews says this series is an important one for the Caribbean ladies.
01:43Yeah very important I think it's going to be a good test of where we are as a team right
01:48now just a couple months before the World Cup does start.
01:52So yeah hopefully we can see some bright spots and be able to take a lot of positives out of
01:56this series for sure.
01:57Following the T20 series the Windies take on the Aussies in three ODIs in St. Kitts.
