00:01Say it loud, say it proud. Us Brits love the costas.
00:05We love Bedrock!
00:07You're here in the sun, lap it up.
00:09We're living the dream, I'll see ya!
00:11Well, maybe not quite that loud, Nathan, but we are.
00:14And with over 300 days of that glorious sunshine a year,
00:18it sure beats the cold and grey of the old UK.
00:21Ah, this is a lie.
00:23Living that dream can be blooming hard graft.
00:26Missed him!
00:27My left, your right.
00:28Stress level.
00:30Through the roof.
00:31Ah!
00:31But at the end of the working day...
00:33Girl power.
00:34Girl power.
00:35Come on, Sam.
00:36Forward.
00:36Booyah!
00:37The quality of life on the costas...
00:39Ah!
00:41You did it!
00:42You did it!
00:42...is priceless.
00:44Cheers!
00:45Me some love.
00:46Cheers.
00:47That's why there will always be...
00:49And this is my mate Franny.
00:50Hiya, Franny.
00:51Brilliant cocktails.
00:52Happy vibe.
00:53Sun, sea, sand.
00:56Bargain-loving Brits in the sun.
00:58Yeah!
01:01Today on the costas...
01:03I think I'll make him look gorgeous.
01:04What's going on?
01:05Oh, hey!
01:07Bar owner Shane is setting the style for a staff day out.
01:10You're not going to get that one?
01:11I'm not going to get that one, am I?
01:14I don't even like him on!
01:16Party host Nigel spreads the secret to eternal youth.
01:20It's good for hair growth as well.
01:22I can get some on his hair.
01:24I've just realised there's some of the equipment at home.
01:27And from the bargain-loving vaults, Ed's missing a vital ingredient for his hog roast dinner.
01:32That's a very annoying thing.
01:38I think I'm going to get some sticky Velcro, put them on here so that's all sticks there.
01:44In Torremolinos, bar owner Shane has recently acquired a marquee for his customers to enjoy.
01:50Reminds me of the joke.
01:51Doctor, doctor, I don't feel very well.
01:54How do you feel?
01:55Well, I feel like a marquee and a teepee.
01:58Oh, that's serious.
02:00What's up, doctor?
02:02You're too tense.
02:03Oh dear.
02:04Let's hope weatherproofing the bar is more successful than one of Shane's jokes.
02:08So the dream was to move to Spain, live in Spain and run a successful bar.
02:13And as things are at the minute, that's all working.
02:16And former lorry driver Shane is in for the long haul with this new venture.
02:22So I've let my HGV licence lapse, so I've not renewed it.
02:27And the reason I've not renewed it is, it'd be such an easy escape route if this was not working.
02:36I have to 100% focus on making this work.
02:40I'm going to put a new bar on.
02:41The sun's attacked this one over the summer.
02:45The bar opened 18 months ago and is steadily getting busier.
02:50In October of this year, we had a wedding.
02:53We had a big, big balloon arch and then a carpet, white carpet down.
02:58And the blessing was done on the grass.
03:00I am so thankful to Shane and Chrissie.
03:02It's unreal that they let us do this here.
03:04Oh, bless the week, babe.
03:06Yes.
03:06Hey.
03:07I'm just proud of what we've built up, myself and the team.
03:10And that's what today's all about, going out and giving that team the reward that they deserve, really.
03:16Today, we're going to go play crazy golf.
03:19So I'm quite looking forward to meeting everybody there and having a good, funny day.
03:24All right.
03:25I'm going to make a list of silly things that happened this year.
03:31Closing the bar for a staff day out is only part of Shane's master plan today.
03:36We're going to do a Shaney's award and some silly little prizes to give out that the staff don't know
03:42about.
03:42So I'm going to give them all a prize for something silly that they've done over the summer.
03:47And deciding on award categories is a difficult task.
03:51Stevie.
03:51The most memorable one was I heard such a scream going on in the kitchen and,
03:57help, help, help, we're on fire.
03:59We're on fire.
04:00I need to set fire to a frying pan, so I'm just going to put fire.
04:03Here you've got Nicky.
04:05So there's always something going on.
04:06Oh, the kids did this.
04:07Oh, you'll never guess what.
04:08The door wouldn't lock.
04:09Oh, I went down to the school and I ended up getting dragged in and I couldn't get there.
04:12And then the bus doesn't come in.
04:13Oh, it does my mess.
04:15So, yeah, I'm just going to put drama.
04:18Cool.
04:19All right.
04:21All right.
04:21Nominees for the Shaney Awards won't be going home empty handed.
04:25And I've done a list ready for what I need to buy from the party prop shop.
04:31Bits and bobs.
04:31I need to find myself a silly outfit to wear and all the awards and bits and bobs I'm going
04:37to give to the staff.
04:38And then we'll go on to crazy golf.
04:40So it's off to source some bargain basement goodies for the grand prize giving.
04:47Hola.
04:49All right.
04:50Got my list.
04:51Get my list out.
04:52But where do you start in a place like this?
04:56Oh, all right.
04:58Oh, there's so much stuff in this shop.
05:00It's ace.
05:09Are you all ready?
05:10Far west on the Costa del Sol is the town of Soto Grande.
05:15Have you seen my phone, Ed?
05:16No.
05:16It's home to soon to be married couple, Ed and Louise.
05:20Ed asked me to marry him and I said yes.
05:23They run a catering business and together they've been feeding Brits on the costas since 2018.
05:29You get your crispy chicken, then your sauce.
05:32Oh, lovely.
05:33The wedding is in just two days.
05:36Has anyone seen my phone?
05:38No.
05:38Every time.
05:40Do you want me to ring it?
05:41Yeah, please.
05:42Louise is dealing with a last minute wedding prep.
05:46Right, kids.
05:47Come on.
05:48Let's go.
05:49While Ed is running their business.
05:52Oh, God.
05:53I need petrol.
05:54First stop for Lou's daughter Summer, mum Carol and Nana Joyce is the nail salon.
06:00We've got a busy day today.
06:04Carol, have you decided on gels or normal polish?
06:09Here we are.
06:10There's still a lot of jobs to be finished before the couple can say, I do.
06:15To have my family all involved in it means the world to me.
06:19And it's just been lovely just to have them along with the ride, not for me to have to make
06:24all the decisions.
06:25As much as I love this man, he's really bad at making decisions when he does make the decision.
06:30So, he leaves me to make all the decisions.
06:33Penny blue, mum.
06:34We've got blue.
06:35I can see blue now.
06:38It also gives 80-year-old Nana Joyce the chance to show off her latest inking.
06:43I've treated myself to my 80s birthday.
06:47A nice tattoo.
06:49Because I'm mental.
06:50But it seems this Nana has caught the bug.
06:53When I'm 90, I'm going to have one on this arm.
06:56Oh, my God.
06:57And then when I'm on red, I'm going to have Kiss Night on me what's it.
07:01On me bug.
07:07Still not dry.
07:12Summer, you said you're bored.
07:13Why don't you go and sit with Grandma and Nana?
07:16But luckily, Super Nan has a recipe to cure boredom.
07:21And she's showing off just where she wants that last tattoo.
07:28Absolutely gorgeous.
07:29I'm going to really suit my dress.
07:32Hey!
07:35That's one job ticked off the list.
07:37On to the next.
07:38I'm sure Ed would love to be here to help Lou.
07:44Coming up.
07:45Do I need a wig?
07:46Are you a blonde?
07:47Long blonde?
07:48Yeah, that'll do.
07:49Shane lets his hair down on the team day out.
07:52Side together.
07:54Side touch.
07:55And Nigel is putting his best foot forward in Javier.
07:58Do you all remember what comes next?
08:01Just checking.
08:02Just checking.
08:11I just met John a coffee.
08:14Nigel and husband John moved to Spain eight years ago.
08:17Hey, Dennis.
08:19Come on then.
08:21Where's John, Dennis?
08:22Oh, he's there. Go on.
08:24The couple have settled in a rural location near to the town of Javier.
08:29What have you been doing down here?
08:31Just tidying up a bit.
08:32Is there anything to prepare for this afternoon before everybody else arrives?
08:36We've just got to finish pizzas.
08:38We've been together 20 years.
08:40Married just before we came to Spain.
08:43And we met online, actually.
08:46As you do these days.
08:48Yorkshire native Nigel works as a line dancing teacher.
08:52And John is a retired mental health nurse.
08:54The garden is just my little bit of peace and quiet paradise.
08:58I'll try and keep Nigel out of the garden unless he's sat in it.
09:01Because he doesn't know a weed from a plant.
09:04A flower stuck in the middle of it.
09:08This is the avocado tree that were actually here when we bought the house.
09:13None of us eat avocados and I did actually cut the whole thing down.
09:17And in five years it's grown back and started producing fruit.
09:22The former city dwellers have settled into country life.
09:25We're a bit like chalk and cheese, but he's got his hobbies.
09:30He loves gardening and I've got my hobbies.
09:32But we sort of meet in the middle and we enjoy doing things together.
09:35Well, it's great having an avocado tree.
09:37Not that I eat them, but I've learnt a lot about them over the recent weeks.
09:41Learning about what we're going to do with them later this afternoon.
09:44We've found a new use for them, haven't we, John?
09:46Apparently, yes.
09:49Nigel has come up with an alternative plan to make use of his bumper avocado crop.
09:54My friends are coming around from the line dancing.
09:56They support me.
09:57They come to the social events.
09:58They come to the classes.
10:00And I just want to give them a treat as well.
10:02We've got avocados and I've got a treat planned with avocados.
10:05It's going to be our beauty spa in the garden.
10:08Come on then, let's go avocado hunting.
10:12Avocados may be off the dinner menu, but they are certainly versatile.
10:17We're going to be mashing them up, mashing them with banana, honey,
10:21and making different beauty treatments.
10:24Straight in my hand with that one. Look at the size of that one.
10:27Yeah.
10:27Right.
10:28We've got some lovely avocados that we can give to the guests.
10:32I'm sure they'll be delighted.
10:33Can't carry all these, John, can you?
10:35Just get a couple.
10:37Before the avocado beauty spa is open for guests, Nigel has a class to teach.
10:43Right, sorted.
10:44Right.
10:44I'll see you later.
10:45See you later.
10:45Take care.
10:46Have a nice day setting everything up.
10:48Ah, yeah.
10:52Set off from home and you drive obviously from the middle of nowhere towards civilisation.
10:59And the main thing is the people.
11:01I love being with other people and it's just great fun.
11:06I like going there, doing the dancing.
11:09And you know what?
11:09I like seeing people smile.
11:11Some of the people from the class today are going to be coming back to the party this afternoon
11:16and they haven't got any idea what's in store for them.
11:22Here we are.
11:25Ready for action.
11:29Right, bossa nova.
11:30Blame it on the bossa nova.
11:31Side together, side touch.
11:34Nigel's been teaching his line dancing classes since 2021.
11:38Side left, together, forward and right.
11:42Well, I don't consider it as work but I teach line dancing five classes a week
11:46and from there I have social events.
11:48One, two and three, four and five and six and seven and eight.
11:53The highlight of living in Spain, for me, it has to be the climate and the weather.
11:57It just lends itself to the lifestyle that suits me best which is being outdoors and it's just so social
12:04as well.
12:04Do you all remember what comes next?
12:07Just checking, just checking.
12:09Nigel is very good.
12:11He's stood there, he wants me to say that.
12:13Of course, of course.
12:15Well I'm enjoying it as well.
12:17You entertain me so well.
12:19Entertaining is what Nigel loves to do most.
12:22Well done, very good.
12:23Right, you.
12:24Party people.
12:26Party people.
12:27You're all coming back to our house, yes?
12:29Yay!
12:29For a party.
12:30This afternoon, we've got the dancers coming round.
12:33A bit of an occasion really.
12:35They're coming round.
12:35John's making some homemade pizzas and then we're just going to have a treat
12:39because they do support me.
12:41They're very good people.
12:42And see you this afternoon.
12:45Behave yourselves, don't be late.
12:47Adios.
12:47You better make tracks.
12:49You've got beauty treatments to prepare.
12:58Keep coming.
12:59Always burst one.
13:00You go that way.
13:00You come to me, yeah.
13:01You come to me.
13:02Hosting a party requires a lot of hard work.
13:05Shall I pull that while you...
13:07Yeah, that's it.
13:08You roll that.
13:09But it's all in the planning.
13:10Two for a party, so...
13:13It's a full house.
13:14Can you believe it?
13:15A full house.
13:16Do you ever throw a party?
13:17We do, yeah.
13:18Yeah, the missus makes it.
13:21There's more to prep than you think.
13:23What will you wear?
13:24Haven't thought of mine yet.
13:26No.
13:26I'll decide after a couple of margins.
13:29Breathe in.
13:31Always fits like a flow.
13:33You can dress however you want to dress.
13:36There is no judgement on what you're wearing.
13:39So we've got...
13:40It's got to be comfy shoes.
13:41And comfy shoes, definitely.
13:43Comfy shoes.
13:43Yeah.
13:43If you're in for a big night, you'd be wise to line your stomach.
13:47I'd say the pizza from the old town is a pizza shop.
13:51Yeah.
13:52Toasty chips.
13:53We love a kebab.
13:54Carnage.
13:55I love a kebab.
13:56Love a kebab.
13:57But you don't want to overdo it.
13:59Because otherwise I'll get a bad tummy, so I just have to be careful.
14:02Yeah.
14:07Right, you ready guys?
14:09Yeah.
14:10And let's go.
14:11Back in Soto Grande, Louise has come to finalise the wedding flowers and has brought along some
14:16helpers.
14:18Come on.
14:22Peaches, light pinks, light oranges, and then just a couple of bright oranges.
14:31Hello.
14:33Ooh.
14:34Those are the colours that have come in.
14:36I actually really like them.
14:38Aren't they?
14:39And for this one for her hand...
14:41Yeah.
14:42These might be better because they're smaller.
14:44Oh, don't start fighting now.
14:48Right, don't hit anybody with it.
14:50And with only two days until the big day, it's all on Louise to get the fine details spot on.
14:56It shouldn't take us too long, everything's pretty organised.
14:59Yeah.
15:00The reason I've gone for those colours is I wanted to match them with my dress.
15:03My dress is like peachy rose underneath and then like cream lace on top.
15:10So I think they'll go really, really well with it.
15:14But there is one last job still to do.
15:17We need a bag to put everything in.
15:18Florist Lisa is taking Lou and her family foraging in the Spanish countryside.
15:23Aww, look at that.
15:25Beautiful, aren't they?
15:28Look.
15:30Right, these for these two?
15:31Yeah, we can try for them and see how they hold up.
15:39There we go.
15:42Squeeze it really hard. Squeeze, squeeze, squeeze.
15:44No!
15:45Yay! Well done, mate.
15:47Louise wants to pick her own greenery for her natural-themed wedding decorations.
15:52I mean, that might look nice, the big tree there, if anyone can reach it.
15:56Yeah, yeah.
15:56We could cut a few bits off that.
15:57Yeah.
15:59I've got some!
15:59We've got enough of this sort of stuff.
16:01But do you want to go up there and see if we can get some wild eucalyptus
16:04and maybe some ivy, something a bit more trailing?
16:06Yeah.
16:07And there's another reason for all this foraging.
16:09Hello!
16:10So the reason why I've done the foraging, rather than just buying the greenery,
16:14isn't just to save money, it's more to spend time with the kids.
16:17It's not just about me and Ed getting married,
16:19it's about our two families coming together.
16:21It is not just two people falling in love and getting married and tying the knot.
16:27Do you think we've got enough there now?
16:29Do you know what?
16:29Yeah, I think there's probably enough to be going on with.
16:32I feel like Father Christmas.
16:34There you go.
16:35I really appreciate it.
16:36Not a problem.
16:36And I will see you on Saturday morning.
16:39You will.
16:40Yeah.
16:41And it wasn't long...
16:48..until the couple said, I do.
16:54The wedding...
16:55I'll let you do this instead of me talking all the time.
16:58You'd hate to talk.
16:59Well, the wedding was very, very, very good.
17:01It was a great day.
17:02Three weeks in and we are still married.
17:05And he's still alive.
17:08Happy days.
17:10Congratulations, Mr and Mrs Rodriguez-Jones.
17:25We'd always said we wanted what we call a proper dog rather than a little yappy thing.
17:30Basically, Ian would look pretty ridiculous walking around with a Yorkshire Terrier on the end of a lead, anyway.
17:35No offence to Yorkshire Terriers.
17:40So, he is a husky, mastine cross, so he has huge legs and cute face, but husky temperament for all
17:53the bad things, for the not wanting to be trained, going the way he wants to go.
18:05Every time I turn round, him and Ian are all lying on the floor in the living room, having a
18:08love in.
18:09You're a dog thing stroking.
18:12And Ian's going, OK.
18:13Hey!
18:14He does get more than his fair share of strokes, but he likes having his belly rubbed.
18:26It's family, isn't it?
18:28Yeah.
18:28Yeah.
18:29We adore him.
18:29Yeah.
18:30He's coming.
18:34Don't need that, do I?
18:35I don't need a blow-up beard belly.
18:37I've got one.
18:38Mine's original.
18:40In Fuengirola, Shane is on the hunt for some personalised prizes for his staff one day out.
18:46It's important to our, this year's staff and the new staff for 2025 to all be together, spend a day
18:52together, a bonding day really.
18:54So if I can get him some silly awards, it makes them feel welcome and part of the team and
18:59we can have a laugh and a joke about it.
19:02Best drama.
19:04That's Nicky's.
19:05That's Stevie and Nicky.
19:09So, for the best player and the worst player, I think.
19:14Shane's bar has been up and running for 18 months, but now he is committed to opening all year round.
19:20He needs the best team with him.
19:21It's really important for me that the staff members stay with me.
19:25Then you're not wasting money training new people up that you don't know if they're going to stay.
19:30Oh, yeah.
19:33Yeah, I've got my garland to match.
19:36First rule of management, don't ask your team to do something you wouldn't do yourself.
19:42Do I need a wig?
19:43Are you a blonde? Long blonde?
19:45Yeah, that'll do.
19:51Next in line for a makeover is Shane's bar manager.
19:55So, Gary also needs a costume to wear.
19:59I'm going to get him that.
20:00I think that'll make him look gorgeous.
20:02What's going on?
20:03Perfect.
20:05Perfect.
20:06With the silly outfit sorted.
20:09Perfecto.
20:10Adios.
20:11Adios.
20:13It's time to meet the team.
20:16So, we're at the Crazy Golf in Fengerola.
20:19Hopefully all the staff's inside and everybody's inside waiting.
20:22Very important for the future of the bar today, just the bonding and getting everybody together.
20:27Hello, everyone.
20:28I've been shopping.
20:30Better late than never.
20:31I've been shopping.
20:33What have we got?
20:35Cookie.
20:35Oh, my God.
20:37It's a Spanish...
20:39I bet it's a Spanish senorita.
20:41And it's just your colour, Gary.
20:43I know you haven't got much, but can I put that in your hair?
20:46Yeah, go on.
20:47I know you haven't got a lot.
20:48I haven't.
20:48Put it on me ball patch.
20:50There.
20:51My God.
20:52Oh, you ain't going to see it in there.
20:54Stretches.
20:55It needs to stretch.
20:56Come on, let's have a look.
20:57Let's have a look.
20:58I think it'll need more than a bit of a stretch to make this one work.
21:02You're not going to get that on?
21:02I'm not going to get that on, am I?
21:05Flamendo chance.
21:09Yeah, we had a bit of a male function with fancy dress for Gary.
21:13It didn't actually fit him.
21:14But I think he's quite happy about that.
21:16Well, when one door closes, another opens.
21:18Who's next for a Spanish-style makeover?
21:22Come on, get it on.
21:23Yes.
21:24Come on, then you can wear it.
21:25Get it on.
21:26Come on, Chrissie, get it on now.
21:27Change your plan, it's now Chrissie's.
21:29I'm so glad I got it out of there.
21:31Oh, look, it was made for you, Chrissie.
21:34That's how it felt, Gary.
21:35It was made for you.
21:37That's it.
21:38Oh, signorita.
21:39Yeah.
21:40That will do.
21:41With everyone entering into the party spirit.
21:44Hula, hula.
21:45Go your dance, go your dance.
21:46Hula, hula.
21:47There's just one thing left to do.
21:50Thank you for coming, everyone.
21:52We're going to have a bit of fun today.
21:54So let's get started and go round, eh?
21:57Hey, Avril can go first.
21:59We're about to start.
22:01It looks quite an interesting course.
22:03Not straightforward.
22:04Bit of a water obstacle and sand bunkers.
22:07Yeah.
22:08So I think we're going to be all right.
22:13Coming up.
22:14Do you realise as well as good for you on the inside,
22:17avocado is good for you on the outside?
22:19Nigel is starting a natural health and beauty revolution.
22:23Oh, yes, they are.
22:25Oh, yes, they are.
22:28Whoa!
22:30No way!
22:33And it's a race to the bottom on Shane's staff day out.
22:36Fourteen bunkers in seven holes.
22:38That must be a new record on any course.
22:41Oh!
22:51Oh, wow, look at these.
22:53Amazing.
22:54Oh, they're properly ripe as well, though.
22:57Near the town of Javier,
22:59there's a bumper crop of avocados ready at Nigel's.
23:02So I don't know about eating them,
23:04but vitamins and minerals,
23:06including vitamin B, E and C and amino acids.
23:11When you're looking to avocado beauty treatments online,
23:14there are so many that have got really good benefits.
23:18Antibacterial, cleansing, rejuvenating,
23:21anti-dark spots and all sorts of benefits, really.
23:25Who knew the secret to eternal youth
23:27could be found in the salad drawer?
23:29The UK consumes over 116 million kilos of avocado each year.
23:35That's a lot of avo on toast.
23:37I've broken those down.
23:38I just need to finish mashing these up
23:41and then take this down to the lawn with the other ingredients.
23:45They are good, actually.
23:48I feel like I've never done a day's work in my life now.
23:51You haven't?
23:53Sorry?
23:53Did you say something?
23:55Nigel's enjoyment for line dancing
23:57extends well beyond his five classes a week.
24:00This is the wardrobe and in here
24:02I've got a few things that I wear for the line dancing.
24:06So we do wear shirts like this
24:08and the boots and the jeans.
24:10It's all very nice getting dressed up,
24:12but quite often at social events
24:15I might wear things like this as well.
24:17Well, that's very snazzy.
24:19The best thing about line dancing for me is the people.
24:23Overcoming the challenges, learning a difficult dance is good fun,
24:26but when you're doing it as a team, a group of people,
24:30you don't always do it right,
24:31but you have a good laugh when you're doing it as well
24:33and, you know, I always try and make it entertaining for people.
24:37And this afternoon,
24:38Nigel's line dancing chums are certainly in for some entertainment.
24:43Right, we're all set.
24:44Looking forward to everybody getting here now.
24:46We've got everything on the table.
24:48Maybe some mosquito repellent.
24:50And I think that's it now.
24:52We're just waiting for everybody to arrive.
24:53John's got the food under control.
24:55Who is this?
24:56Oh!
24:58Hello!
24:59Hello!
25:00Hi!
25:01Again, twice.
25:02Twice in one day.
25:04Well, I thought I had a car.
25:06Or five.
25:07All right.
25:07All right.
25:08We're going to be down on the lawn.
25:10Come on.
25:11Over me shoulder.
25:18Thank you very much.
25:19It was a wonderful class today, as always, on a Friday.
25:22Brenda leading the way.
25:25But for doing so well,
25:27I've got a special treat for you.
25:28But first, cheers and welcome to our house.
25:31Cheers!
25:32Cheers!
25:33Manners make of the man.
25:34But I wonder if everyone will be quite so enthusiastic
25:37when they know what's in store.
25:40Do you realise as well as good for you on the inside,
25:43avocados are good for you on the outside?
25:46Oh, yes, they are.
25:47Oh, yes, they are.
25:50So, oh, yes.
25:51All the celebrities, Julie, Ellen, Lindy,
25:56all the celebrities use avocado beauty products.
25:59The cat's finally out the bag.
26:01We had an idea there was something going on with the avocados
26:03and face masks had been mentioned previously to today.
26:06So, I have pretty much a good idea what's going to happen,
26:10to be honest with you.
26:12We're all waiting for a laugh, aren't we?
26:14We'll have a go.
26:16With the power to reduce breakouts, wrinkles and blemishes,
26:20by the time we're done, you're all going to have healthy, glowing skins.
26:26Improved skin barrier.
26:28You're going to be hydrated.
26:30You're going to be rejuvenated.
26:32And we'll see which one of you looks ten years younger.
26:35Oh!
26:38It's not something I do every day, but we'll give it a go.
26:40Absolutely.
26:42That's the spirit.
26:43But if it's going to take any years off me, I'm all for it.
26:46LAUGHTER
26:55Off to the butchers we go.
26:56In Soto Grande, Ed and Louise have been settling into life as newlyweds.
27:01Unfortunately, we've not had our honeymoon yet.
27:04That had to be put back because we were just too busy.
27:07So, it's straight back to work for these two.
27:11Hey, Paul, you all right?
27:12Yeah, I'm OK.
27:13Yeah, good.
27:13Can I have five kilos of belly pork
27:16and three and a half kilos of shoulder, please, Dally?
27:19There we go.
27:20Thank you very much.
27:22You're welcome.
27:22Have a good day.
27:23You too. Bye.
27:25This weighs an absolute ton.
27:27Well, not quite a ton.
27:28It's eight and a half kilos of pork,
27:30but it's going to taste really good once Ed's got his hands on it.
27:34And there's a good reason for them pigging out.
27:38We invested in the Hogwarts machine.
27:40I put a thing on saying we're now doing Hogwarts.
27:43And we've got a booking straight away, didn't we?
27:45Yep.
27:46And then ever since, we do loads.
27:47Getting a lot of private villas, aren't we?
27:49So, when we say private villas, basically, he goes, he does breakfast, lunch or dinner,
27:55or all three, and then I go to do the serving.
28:02If they can go the whole hog and impress at this Marbella private villa booking, hopefully more will follow.
28:10But there's a lot of kit to transport.
28:12Heavy and hard work.
28:22Happy days.
28:25Well, there's a problem with Ed's new hog roasting machine.
28:28Well, I've just realised that there's some of the equipment at home,
28:30so someone's got to drop it off to me.
28:34That's a very annoying thing.
28:36You best hope Lou picks it up.
28:38I've just spoken to Louise. Louise is on her way up, so she can drop all the stuff off.
28:47But while he waits, there's still plenty to prep in order to impress.
28:50For tonight, we are cooking for, I think it's 28 people.
28:56There are quite a few American families that come over on holiday.
28:59So, hopefully it'll be nice and easy.
29:04To win the 28 guests over, Ed has the secret ingredient.
29:09So, now we've got our special rub mix.
29:13Our special marinade consists of, I'd say, 12 or 13 different spices.
29:20Which, obviously, I can't say, because it's our special marinade.
29:23A key to a good rub?
29:25Love.
29:27It's not actually your rub. It's mine, by the way.
29:30But, you know, we won't say that.
29:32Well, you just did, Lou.
29:34It's ours. We're married.
29:38Don't rub her up the wrong way, Ed.
29:40You need her to bring that missing piece of equipment and quick.
29:45Newly married Ed has yet to learn that there is a basic law
29:49when it comes to wedded bliss.
29:50The secret to a long and happy life is a happy wife.
29:54Is having a lovely wife like me?
29:58Happy wife, happy life, yeah.
30:01I'm out now.
30:02I'm out.
30:03They all got the memo, but what is the secret to getting it right?
30:08The secret to a long and happy life is to always have holidays booked.
30:14My husband said to me last week, he said,
30:17the only reason you married me was for the crack.
30:19And I said, you're right, because you make me laugh all the time.
30:22Ah.
30:22And as a general rule of thumb, we all need a plan to get through life happy.
30:26Live your best life, that's what I say.
30:29You could die tomorrow.
30:30The secret to a long and happy life is to not take yourself too seriously,
30:34always have a laugh.
30:36And having a laugh is a tonic.
30:38But what else makes you happy?
30:40It's all about the sunshine.
30:42It's lovely down here, anyway.
30:44Sun, sea and sand.
30:45What more could you ask for?
30:47I hope you're done.
30:48We love you.
30:50They're a lively lot.
30:51And in Fuengirola, things are also looking jolly.
31:03Wooo!
31:10Wooo!
31:11No way!
31:13Competition's getting lively down at the crazy golf.
31:15We had some balls in the water.
31:18We had lots of balls going in the sand bunkers.
31:24She's got it oh
31:27Hey, we're having a good day. Cheers Shane. Avril won the most bunkers
31:3414 bunkers in seven holes that must be a new record on any any course
31:39Shane's plan to get his hard-working team together seems to be bringing out everyone's competitive side
31:45I changed mine. It's gone through the middle. Hey
31:59Crazy golf ended with Steve being the champion Avril being
32:07I conferred so it was good in that respect so I didn't lose I didn't win I didn't want to
32:11win all for
32:12I knew I could because that's a competitive side of me
32:15But I didn't want to win. I just wanted the guys to have some fun and the fun doesn't stop
32:20there
32:22All right guys today's been you know what today's been
32:26It's just a thank you and also a bit of team building and there's a bag full of joke shop
32:31goodies to keep the good times rolling
32:33So we've had a good day today, aren't we?
32:37So I've got Chrissy, Stevie, Nicky, that's the winter staff that I've got on and then I've got the new
32:43guys starting
32:44Gary is gonna be overall bar manager Avril's gonna do kitchen and Mandy's gonna be floating and doing terrace
32:50I did a bit of shopping before I
32:53Got it. So I've got some Shaney awards
32:57First of all Stevie and it's a fire extinguisher. Stevie's got an item in the kitchen. It's setting fire
33:04So the gas oven and the griddle and all I hear is oh, we're on fire. We're on fire. We've
33:09got flames
33:10So I've got you a little any boiling eggs a little water gun fire extinguisher mate. They can keep that
33:16at the side
33:18Flames, oh, yeah, I've bit more for it
33:22I was waiting for me a champagne. You know when you're when you're champion always get a champagne
33:28Sadly the budget didn't stretch to bubbles, but a lot of thought went into these prizes
33:33Now we've got Nicky every morning when you come to work
33:37Saga. Saga drama drama so you win an Oscar
33:41You win an Oscar
33:43All right. Mine was probably perfect. I need a trophy honestly. You've not met my children
33:49And Avril
33:52You've won this as the winner of the most bunkers
33:59Even winning the boobie prize hasn't put Avril off
34:02He's so lovely Shane. He's amazing. He works so hard
34:08And he just wants to please everybody. He's just a great guy
34:12The three of us being the newbies it was just great to get together with the rest of the staff
34:17and have a laugh
34:19Shane's plan to make the staff feel valued seems to be working
34:23So Gary's gonna be the new barman
34:25And what happens Steve will tell you sometimes we get tips
34:29Sometimes we get
34:31We get bought stuff so I just thought every time you get tips and a comment and people say it's
34:37good
34:37You can pick your glass up and go
34:41I was over the moon with it. I know it's like just a cheap thing, but it's the thought that
34:46counts
34:46You know, we weren't expecting anything, but you know, he went out of his way to go and get us
34:51all something and just made everybody laugh
34:55To give them something like this today. It's great and they're all laughing at me. How nice is it?
34:59You can hear them laughing and joking in the background, and you know, you know, you've got a routine when
35:05you can hear them laughing and joking
35:07Perfect perfect
35:16Coming up
35:17Do you want to speak to you?
35:19Do you want to speak to me?
35:20At the hog table
35:20Ed faces his critics at the hog roast dinner
35:24I've been lovely and so nice to you all day and you've just left me here
35:28And Nigel gets a taste of his own medicine like somebody sneezed all over my face
35:42At the lavish private villa where chef Ed is catering
35:47That is my wife bring me my utensils
35:49Wife Louise has arrived to reunite him with his vital hog roast equipment
35:56She put me all the spikes hooks and spanners that I need to actually do a hog roast
36:02Comes in handy sometimes
36:05The pork will take three hours to roast so Ed needs to get it on as soon as possible to
36:11cook in time
36:13But there is another issue to contend with so tonight Louise can't make it because one of our children are
36:19ill
36:19He's got a bad ear infection, so she's got to stay with him
36:22So their friend Beth has stepped in to help
36:25But it's alright
36:27I'll be fine
36:36Just come in to check see how things are going and see if Beth needs to hand
36:41Looks like she does Ed. There are 50 balloons to blow up here
36:47Is that alright?
36:49Yep, perfect
36:50It's all looking very nice right now
36:52I'm going to go back and check on my food, make sure I'm not burning anything
36:56Catering for the 28th birthday guests at the villa is a big booking for the newlyweds
37:01You can see
37:02The hog roast is pretty much done
37:04Well if it's nice and crispy you hear a nice click
37:07And you flick it

37:13Today's hog roast is going to kick off a week-long celebration for the American guests
37:21It's looking good

37:39Ed has 15 minutes to have a banquet for almost 30 people ready to serve
37:45Beth, those plates are ready to go out
37:50It's a lot of work but happy customers and pays bills
37:58Hopefully this booking will pave the way to more in the future
38:01But that means Ed needs to go the whole hog and impress

42:27Doing all that with the ambacados

42:40Next time on The Costers

42:44Baking isn't really my thing.
42:47Colin's wrangling a problematic pony.
42:49Oh, no.
42:52Mate, I'll be back.
42:54Bye now.
42:54And Ash and Jamie break some big news.
