Temperatures in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic dropped by more than 30 degrees in just 24 hours from March 11-12.
Transcript
00:00Here we have a huge, huge, just a tremendous drop in temperatures.
00:04What a change it's been.
00:05We went from 80s and even upper 80s in Richmond to snow in 24 hours.
00:11Incredible.
00:11It's been a 55-degree drop in Richmond.
00:14A huge, huge, just a tremendous drop in temperature here with this front.
00:18And to go from mid to upper 80s in Richmond,
00:21and we were deep into the upper 80s yesterday in Richmond,
00:23and then accumulating snow today.
00:26Just incredible.
00:27We're also dealing with some snow up in northern Maine,
00:29but, again, just amazing to see the mid-Atlantic seeing accumulating snow.
00:33And this Friday, tomorrow, the next storm system,
00:36which is going to be a significant wind producer, rolls in.
00:39This one's going to bring a lot of wind, a gust of 50 to 60 miles per hour for some.
00:44And it's been a tale of two seasons here this week.
00:46We began the week in the 70s and 80s.
00:49Tuesday, for example, even Boston made it to 75.
00:51We're going to be 32 degrees colder than that on Friday.
00:54New York City, we were at 80 on Tuesday, 35 degrees colder for Friday.
00:59Philadelphia, we went from 83, we're going to be around 51 on Friday.
01:02But, again, this is just kind of characterizing five cities ranging from Raleigh to Boston.
01:07Tuesday to Friday, the big contrast there.
01:10We were in the 50s on Wednesday in Boston, and now we're much colder.
01:15But, again, just the change from Tuesday to Friday, or if you split it up Wednesday to Thursday,
01:20incredible change in the weather and dropping temperatures.
01:24We're also facing that ongoing snow event.
01:26We have a couple of maps that look kind of like this over the next several days with a few
01:30hard hits up in northern Michigan.
01:31The current storm, though, through tonight and tomorrow into tomorrow evening will bring some areas east of Lake Ontario,
01:39a little more than six inches in isolated spots on the western part of the Adirondacks, parts of the Tokyo
01:44Plateau.
01:45Much of the Adirondacks, we'll see three to six inches of snow with that.
01:48But the wind is going to be impacting lots of people here.
01:50Look at this, gusts of 50 to 60 miles per hour for the Great Lakes region and 40 to 50
01:55miles per hour farther east up into the Poconos.
01:57So just huge change, and this front has meant business, is going to be out of here.
02:02But the next storm system brings a rain-snow mix and a lot of wind.
02:06Most of the action is going to be north of the Pennsylvania Turnpike with a precip.
02:09But the next storm system is going to be out of here.
