00:00Inland portions of Connecticut, North Jersey, and areas from Lehight and PA all the way up into Albany and Utica,
00:05winter weather advisories are continuing.
00:07But the radar and satellite combination shows that, again, we are slowly transitioning to a warmer weather pattern.
00:15There are two warm fronts in our next three days.
00:18One is in progress, lifting in through the northeast, taking the snow and replacing that with some freezing rain and
00:25then eventually rain.
00:26But it is still snowing north of the Massachusetts Turnpike up into Manchester and areas like Portland, Maine.
00:32You're still in the upper 20s there.
00:33Farther south and west, though, it's all about the warmth.
00:36And it's wet, York, Lancaster, down into areas like Washington, D.C. and Baltimore and all the way west into
00:41Parkersburg and areas like Dayton, Ohio.
00:44Even some thunderstorms on the prowl into Indiana.
00:47One other issue here tonight, we have dense fog developing.
00:51And the fog is going to be thickening up through the evening from coastal Virginia up through Delaware, almost all
00:58of New Jersey, eastern PA, far eastern Maryland.
01:01Dense fog advisories being issued and now in effect.
01:04So, Philadelphia, look out for that.
01:06We've got some tough visibility late tonight into early tomorrow morning.
01:09I mentioned it's still only 27 in Portland.
01:12There it is.
01:13Still pretty nippy there.
01:14But we are 40 degrees warmer than that in Louisville, where spring is winning out.
01:17So, tonight, we're going to see more rain and less snow.
01:21The southern edge of the precipitation transition zone lifting north as the warmer air rolls in.
01:26And overall, future radar and clouds is going to show a pretty rapid exit to this storm system by Wednesday
01:31morning.
01:31We're dry in the New England states.
01:33But the tail of the front just gets hung up over the mid-Atlantic.
01:36So, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, persistent clouds, some showers off and on, and a few more disturbances push in.
01:42I mentioned there were two warm fronts.
01:44Here comes the second on Thursday evening.
01:46This more aggressively lifts into the New England states.
01:49And, again, there's less real estate seeing snow.
01:51We will be warmer.
01:53Another step into the warmth here with warm front number two.
01:56And the snow is restricted to New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine for the most part.
02:01And then we really have a warm setup for the weekend.
02:04Now, there will be some lingering showers and murkiness here where the front's draped across the mid-Atlantic.
02:09The farther west you go into Indiana and Illinois, the heavier the thunderstorms will be Wednesday and Thursday.
02:14But still, some showers will be around New York, kind of the division between cool air to the north and
02:18warm air farther south.
02:20There will also be some freezing rain that accompanies the second warm front Thursday night to Friday morning in the
02:26Adirondacks, the Green and White Mountains.
02:28So, keep an eye out for that.
02:29That lifts deeper into Maine on Friday.
02:32And then it's all about the warmth.
02:34One other thing to keep an eye on, ice jam risks.
02:37We're going to see more rain and also a big warm-up.
02:40So, a lot of river ice melting.
02:42And sometimes those big chunks of river ice get jammed up around the bends in the rivers.
02:47And that can lead to almost like a dam forming with ice.
02:50So, water backs up behind it.
02:52That can lead to flooding.
02:53And then when the dam releases and the ice jam breaks, that can lead to rapid flash flooding downstream.
