00:00So, they signed more people yesterday, the Browns did.
00:03More guys across the offensive line.
00:06And I'm, this is a weird thing.
00:09Guys, I'm not, I'm not going to judge them until they play.
00:17My stance is still my stance on it.
00:19My opinion is still my opinion.
00:21Like, I've got a couple of people, they're signing the offensive linemen,
00:25and folks are going, Kenny, you didn't think they were going to sign?
00:28I go, yeah, I knew they were going to sign some offensive linemen.
00:32I think we all did.
00:33They were open positions.
00:35You had basically an entire offensive line you had to replace.
00:38So, you bring in new, you bring in a new center, you bring in a new guard,
00:42you bring in a new right tackle, you bring back another guard.
00:46I don't know exactly what you're going to do with Luke Whipler.
00:51I don't know if Zach Zinter makes the team.
00:54These are draft picks.
00:55One was a late, I mean, one was day three for crying out loud.
00:58Like, that's a late one.
00:59I'm not going to sit there and rip Andrew Barry for Luke Whipler.
01:01But what I'm pointing out is, just because they signed him doesn't mean it's going to work.
01:07I want him to work out, because I'm telling you what,
01:10it would have to change the way I think about the NFL.
01:13Because this would be two examples.
01:15Now, I told you how I felt about the Bears' offensive line here.
01:18I'm going to get a little bit wonky here.
01:19You guys got to stop me if you want to, because I'm going to get a little wonky here
01:23and go into the weeds a little bit about offensive linemen.
01:25I've told you.
01:26The offensive line, I thought, was good running the ball.
01:30A lot of people thought were good running the ball with the Bears last year.
01:33And I think, well, an offensive line, that tends to struggle or tends to be new.
01:37It's easier to go forward than it is to go backwards.
01:39I thought Caleb Williams had to make some wild plays last year,
01:43because there was breakdowns in protection.
01:45You have a bunch of weapons there.
01:47There's a lot of guys you can throw to.
01:49If we're just going to try to build it in the same vein of the Bears,
01:53if we get a quarterback like Caleb Williams,
01:56if Shador Sanders plays like Caleb Williams,
01:58then maybe things are going to be upright and all right.
02:00If we get some weaponry like Roma Dunze, who's often hurt, I understand.
02:05If we add another tight end to Harold Fannin Jr.,
02:08I mean, there's a lot of things that you can't just say,
02:10well, it would just be the Bears.
02:12No.
02:13And the reason they have to make these signings
02:16is because the guy that you're paying to be in charge of signing
02:21or picking college talent to be able to replace these guys
02:24so they come a little cheaper,
02:26so you can put assets towards veterans that you have
02:30or veterans that you want to bring in for other positions
02:33or anything else, you haven't been able to do that.
02:37This is a cause and effect here.
02:39And I really hope it works out.
02:43I really do.
02:45But the victory lap that I'm getting,
02:47like I had no doubt that Andrew Barry was going to go get some offensive linemen.
02:51He had to.
02:52Yeah, they had to.
02:52They had to fill it out.
02:54You can't play with no offensive linemen.
02:56You had to go fill it out.
02:57And you weren't just going to go grab, you know, three all pros.
03:01That's impossible.
03:02Those guys are not available.
03:03But I can't.
03:04Listen, I can give them credit for certain things.
03:06And I've tried.
03:07I've tried to be as fair as I can because, again, I like Andrew.
03:11But I have to see this for the truth of the matter here
03:14is that if you picked him right, you wouldn't have wanted to make these changes.
03:19Some of this stuff is a little bit of bad luck.
03:21Some of this is just, no, you didn't draft the right guys.
03:24And so when you bring these guys in, it's like, hey, you know what?
03:26Like, Bob and Parma can tell me about and extol the virtues of Zion Johnson
03:31and Titus Howard.
03:32You know, those guys can do that because you see them on Sundays
03:35if you really liked them.
03:37Like, that's not to me what really being able to pick them and find them is.
03:43But if it works out, and I hope it does, it would be great.
03:47And it would also have to change.
03:48You've got two teams in a row because it worked out for last year for the Bears
03:52and went to the playoffs.
03:53They were able to win a playoff game.
03:54If it worked out for the Browns where they were able to raise their record
03:58and then in turn raise their expectations for 2027,
04:00if they were able to protect whatever quarterback they have playing back there.
04:04I mean, yeah, I'll give credit for that.
04:06But I'm like, hey, guys, let's get to the OTAs first
04:09before we start doing victory laps over the offensive linemen that are found.
04:14And you guys know me.
04:16It's very hard for me.
04:18Lime, you always pull it out of me, and I get called out all the time.
04:21It's very hard for me to accept a negative reality with the Cleveland Browns.
04:25It's very hard for me to do so.
04:27But if it's right there in front of me, I've got to see for what it is.
04:30Like, no, them signing a bunch of offensive linemen this offseason
04:34does not change any of my concern for this coming year.
04:37We're going to find out real soon.
04:39And you're going to be stuck no matter what.
04:41Sorry.
04:42I took up a lot of time there talking about offensive linemen.
04:45I know it's a dry conversation to a lot of people.
04:47But it's extremely important, guys.
04:49So the Tevin Jenkins one, is it worth noting that he had his surgery
04:5315 days before Crosby had his?
04:57Well, Sasha Brown don't work for the Browns anymore,
04:59so I think that he's going to be okay.
05:01Do the Browns have to take a closer look at the medicals for Tevin Jenkins?
05:04Obviously, I'm joking.
05:05I know.
05:05They're going to be fine with his situation.
05:07And obviously, offensive linemen are very different from pass rushers.
05:10But this is somebody who is coming off, I don't know whether it's significant
05:18is the right term here, but given the Crosby thing where they said
05:22significant meniscus, well, this was a fractured fibula, ankle dislocation.
05:26So you weren't going to get somebody that was fully healthy and a pro bowler,
05:31an all-pro last year.
05:33That wasn't going to happen.
05:35You're getting somebody who has had a distinguished career,
05:38has been really good.
05:38But I went right to the Reddit boards and the tweets from the Packer fans
05:44to see what they were saying.
05:45It's like, well, Browns, you got a good one if he's healthy, right?
05:49If he can come back from that injury.
05:51So that's the state of affairs that the Browns are in.
05:53They've got to take some gambles.
05:56They have to figure out.
05:57Now, I did want to ask you, who's going to get moved around here
06:00and what does this mean for – I'm assuming Betonio is now not coming back,
06:05but I don't know.
06:06I don't have any privileged information here.
06:09Well, I want to talk about Betonio here in about 10 minutes.
06:11But I wish I could tell you.
06:13I have no idea.
06:14I mean, it's non-communicado here.
06:19I mean, I still got DeJuan Jones over.
06:22As I wrote him down right now, this is off the top of my head.
06:24DeJuan Jones at left tackle.
06:26Tevin Jenkins at either one of the guards.
06:28I don't like mixing up these guys.
06:30Again, you put a guy – like Tevin Jenkins played right guard this year.
06:33Your footwork is on the opposite side.
06:36I think it's very hard for guys – and these are great athletes.
06:39These guys got great feet.
06:41I still think it's hard for guys to naturally move left or right.
06:44Okay?
06:45Your feet are just totally different from where they were before.
06:47They're obviously the opposite of where they were before.
06:50Motions, everything like that.
06:52Jenkins, the new one.
06:53I mean, you're looking at the center.
06:54So, what do I do with Luke Whipler?
06:55Am I putting him over at one of the guards there?
06:57Am I – you're not wanting to rotate anybody.
07:00Titus Howard at right tackle is who I have penciled in right now, obviously,
07:04with when they were trading for him and bringing him in.
07:07They got Zion Johnson over there at the right guard.
07:10George Warhop is going to have his work cut out for him where you have guys
07:13who are coming in from different NFL football teams,
07:16and you're putting together almost a basically brand-new offensive line here.
07:19And it still leaves that left tackle spot open because, like, God,
07:22you know I love DeJuan Jones like crazy.
07:24He's such a nice young man.
07:26But I've had three years of significant injuries with DeJuan Jones.
07:30So, I do think what the positives are for this,
07:32I think it gives you a little bit of flexibility in the draft
07:34if you really want to do it this way.
07:36You could trade down if you wanted to, but, of course,
07:38you have to have a partner to trade back up.
07:40So, say you really like Monroe Freeling,
07:42but you didn't really like Monroe Freeling at six.
07:44Because it does seem to be a pretty high spot to just take a guy
07:47because he's a pure left tackle, quote-unquote,
07:50just because he's a pure left tackle.
07:52That's enticing.
07:53He doesn't have a lot of experience.
07:54Do you want to stretch that and put him in there at six?
07:58If you really feel passionate about it, let me hear it.
08:01Tell me why.
08:02But you could possibly move back, or that opens up wide receiver.
08:06That opens up the BPA conversation.
08:09If Caleb Downs is there, Arvell Reese is there.
08:11You know, whatever you wanted to do.
08:12I'm just thinking of guys that don't play offense that are there as well.
08:15So, it adds some flexibility to what you could do at number six overall,
08:20and then what you maybe want to do at number 24, number 39 overall.
08:24And also, it could add some flexibility.
08:26This is on the positive side here.
08:28That was positive.
08:29I'll give you another one, and then we'll go.
08:32It does add a little bit of time.
08:35Very rarely are we seeing the Batonios of the world come in,
08:38be solid to start, and then take off for the rest of their careers
08:41as a great offensive lineman.
08:43If you buy some time and take a guy at 24 or 39,
08:47I may not have to start this guy right off.
08:49These are two-year deals, three-year deals.
08:52I don't have to start this guy right off
08:54and then have to worry about him being worked in with guys
08:56who are new to my system in the first place.
08:59So, that is a good thing that you could possibly do.
09:01So, it does work in for the long-term planning of things.
