00:01I'm nervous, which makes me a total hypocrite because when I said how, hey, maybe you'd trust
00:09Andrew Barry a little more. I want to get back to the Cavs in game five coming up tonight here
00:12in just moments. Okay. Just let me, let me get this off my chest is that I was saying to
00:17make
00:17an example here, I was using Andrew Barry as an example and bringing up like, Hey, like this,
00:22this is a good draft. Now I know they haven't played yet, but this is a good draft. Last
00:28is why you don't fire a guy. And somebody is like, Hey, Ken, they're cursed. And I go,
00:31no, they're not cursed. You're not cursed. When you just make bad decisions in personnel,
00:35you hire the wrong people. You fire them very fast. Then you hire people that might've worked
00:40out, might not have worked out, but you didn't give them a chance to work out. And every time
00:43you hire a new person to come in and be the general manager, they got to quote unquote,
00:47get their guys in. They got to get their guys. These guys aren't good. I need to reinvent
00:51Brown's football in my image. So they do it. And then you don't give them a chance. And
00:56they get rid of them. And then you have a lost generation of Browns fans, as you would
00:59put it right. 20 something years, only a couple of playoff appearances. And you really had
01:03to tank it out to be able to do that. And that was even fleeting. Okay. So we're trying
01:07to get back up off the mat and that all being pointed out. There was a question that was asked
01:13to me and I had to ask it a pony right there. And I want to play that for everybody
01:16because
01:18there was the answer of, are the Steelers turning into the Browns pony drafting will
01:26Howard last year in Drew Eller this year. I don't see how that's really that much different
01:31from drafting Dylan Gabriel and Shader Sanders in the same draft. And so I don't understand
01:36really how you're going to develop both guys and make both guys future franchise quarterbacks
01:42and give them the repetitions and work they need and all that stuff, especially when you're
01:46going to bring Aaron Rodgers back here, potentially. True.
01:49And then those guys will sit the entire year. And then if those guys sit the entire year,
01:53then what are you going to do in 2027? You're telling me you're not going to draft the quarterback
01:56in the first round of any opportunity. And then if you do, you have three guys here who've never
02:00played before. And that does sound very Browns, doesn't it?
02:04So I would back in the day tell people on the CBS show, because I would get people would look
02:09if I'm ripping a team and people look up where I'm from, like you're from Cleveland. I go, yeah,
02:14that's why you should take it seriously. I might not know great football, but I know a bad team
02:18when I see a bad team and I know a team that's going to be a bad team. And if
02:22I'm warning you
02:22about it, you better take it seriously. Cause I've seen it all now, every which way you could
02:27be bad. I've seen it with the Cleveland Browns. I'm not there yet with the Steelers.
02:32This draft was not great. Uh, Iana, sure you have to have now you have to have a lot of
02:39faith
02:39in camp in there as your, as your, I think it's James Campan as their, uh, offensive line coach.
02:44I didn't look that up yesterday and I'm just saying it again. Uh, he is a project. He's a
02:48very athletic project. He could be a very good player for him, but there were a lot of people
02:52who hated that draft at Pittsburgh. And I'm going, man, this does sound familiar, man.
02:55This really sounds familiar, but I'm just not there yet. Every time I say it, it does sound
03:01like a curse where if you say it, then it's going to go back on you. And it's one team
03:07that's been
03:07known for success over the last 30 years. The other team hasn't. And it takes a while for labels
03:12to go away, even positive labels to go away. Yeah. I remember four years ago, I said that
03:16I thought we were nearing the end of the Steelers and then came back to bite me. Like you were
03:21saying, but the fact that Tomlin's gone and not that it's Mike McCarthy. It's just a different
03:26version. Not that I think McCarthy's some awful coach. He's not. He's a good coach. And to some
03:31extent, I do have to give Pittsburgh credit. I know nobody in sports wants to be in the middle
03:36anymore or slightly above middle because you're incentivized to have bad teams sometimes. So you
03:42can stock up in the draft and, and, and rebuild. They just have had an edict. We are not rebuilding.
03:49Even if we're not Superbowl contenders, we owe it to our fans to give them a winning football team.
03:55And I think that in this day and age, there is something admirable about that, even though
04:00you'll never put up a banner and in the end, no one will care because we only care about
04:04championships. Look at the calves. No one seems to care that they somehow managed to win 50 games
04:09this year. Why? Because they're probably not going to win the championship. And we've
04:12had, we've had a championship here in Pittsburgh. They've had Superbowls. So they measure everything
04:17up to that. With all that said, I look at the ages of some of the guys on defense and
04:23Hey, look, Cam Hayward was good again this year. The guy's amazing. He defies it, but eventually
04:29you need to turn this over. TJ Watt just look, just look bad during big portions of the season
04:35last year. You just look, he looked bad. He looked like a guy who's, who's closer to
04:40the day he retires. I mean, every single day we're getting there with him. And obviously
04:45miles Garrett has taken off and continues to get better. He's ascending and TJ Watt is
04:49descending. So Jalen Ramsey is another one. I mean, his best football is behind him. I
04:55don't think there's any question, but I have fantasized at times about being a, cause I've
04:59never seen really bad runs of Steeler football, right? And it bothers me as a fan of the Cleveland
05:04Browns, but I have had this fantasy before that plays out where we hold the Browns, the
05:09Browns have had success. We hold the Browns to a higher standard. And then we're the team
05:12that's like, Hey, yeah, we're just going to go nine and eight this year. And we're going
05:16to make the playoffs, but nobody really cares. And I want to be the guy to go, Hey man, I've
05:20seen Browns dysfunction and real bad Browns football. I never want to go back to there
05:23and fighting people as some old man. Hopefully God, God, God willing. I'd be some old man
05:30fighting with younger people about where I've seen the Browns be and how we never want
05:33to get back to that again. Cause that's what I've worn Steelers fans about, but I, I still
05:38stopped short because they still got to put the helmets on. And I think that these guys
05:42can help. I think that you can find five, you have five guys who can be solid starters.
05:46I'm worried. I'm not worried, but I'm a little hesitant about Brailsford cause he has a fifth
05:51round pick. They love them. They love them. And I'm saying that he could be their starter
05:55week one at the center position. That's still a bit of a stretch. We'll find out, but you still
06:00got at least four guys who I think are going to be starters and contribute to this football
06:04team in this draft. That's out of the park. That's a, that's a grand slam by Andrew Barry.
06:08And I haven't seen that out of the Steelers. And usually those type of praises are, are laid
06:13on by the Steelers, but I also have to guard against, Hey man, people have loved the Jets
06:16drafts for how many years until they got to trade those guys three years later to get more
06:20picks to have more quote unquote, great draft. So it can go either way. And I just, I got to
06:25hold it back a little bit. I'm really excited about this. I'm really excited that I think
06:29that they are building with, they are building successfully. And I know we made jokes, but
06:38God, I'm not, I don't know if I'm willing to go this far. We got Mary Kay on tomorrow,
06:44820. We talk about windows. You had to draft those guys at some point. You just, you might
06:49not have the quarterback to get there, but your competition window. If I, I have high hopes
06:55for last year's class and this year's class, well, it had to start somewhere, but they
06:59still got to go out and do it. And I can't, I can talk tough. I can, I can put
07:03my faith
07:04back in Andrew Barry a little bit, but they still got to go out there and play the games
07:07and they're still going to be, cause they're young kids. There's still going to be some
07:10struggles. I think there's talent there, but there's still going to be a couple of games
07:14there. There hopefully will be a game or two that they weren't supposed to win that
07:17they win. And there's going to be a couple of games that they were supposed to win and
07:19they absolutely lose. And we're going to be pulling our hair out. They're kids.
07:22I just thought they had Tomlin magic and that magic was not Superbowl winning magic
07:27over the last decade. Plus it's just been, man, the Steelers are hanging around. How
07:32are they doing? How are they doing it? And I wonder if you lose that magic, I think
07:36this could be a bad football team. Could they, could they seriously go five and that's
07:4012. And that type of feeling is the same feeling. Like there is a, they're more vocal
07:46on the internet. They'll never call in not right now, but there are some people who are
07:51kind of wishy-washy about this draft going, yeah, they think it's a good draft, but they
07:55also think we're going to do a Steelers thing where it's like, we'll never be up at the top
07:58to be able to replace the quarterback that we need to be able to replace. And I'm like,
08:03guys, any, like you said, any idiot can tear a football team down. It takes smarts. It takes
08:09know-how. It takes a consistent approach to be able to put together a football team.
08:14That's worth complaining about instead of whatever mess that was over the last couple of years
08:18is that people didn't even care about over the last couple of years. Real Browns fans
08:22didn't care about. And there are a lot of Browns fans who thought that the arguments
08:25that we were having over, you know, who was a total waste of time. And they still feel
08:30that way about that young man. He has to change that. I ain't talking about the Sean. So there's
08:35pressure on him again.
