Wedding Night Turns into Crime Drama in Hathras: Bride’s Viral Video Adds New Twist

A sensational case from Hathras district in Uttar Pradesh has taken a dramatic turn after a viral video surfaced of a bride accused of attacking her husband on their wedding night and fleeing with valuables.

The woman, identified as Monika from Parsara village under Chandpa area, married Sunil Kumar of Nai Ka Nagla under the limits of Sadar Kotwali Police Station on February 21, 2026. She reached her matrimonial home on February 22.

According to the groom’s complaint, during the wedding night, Monika allegedly attacked him with a knife when he approached her, injuring his hand and warning him to stay away, claiming she loved someone else. He informed his family the next day.

The family further alleged that on February 25 evening, Monika prepared food allegedly laced with sedatives, causing family members to fall unconscious. She then fled with a relative identified as Sugriv, reportedly taking gold jewellery worth around ₹10 lakh, silver ornaments valued at ₹4–5 lakh, and ₹18,000 in cash — totalling approximately ₹15 lakh.

However, in a 1-minute-21-second video that has gone viral, Monika has denied the allegations of stabbing and theft. She has made serious counter-allegations, claiming she was forcibly married and that her father had confined and sold her for ₹8 lakh. She has also accused her uncle and father of sexual assault. In the video, she states that she left home due to continuous harassment and has expressed fear for her life and that of her uncle.

Police said they have traced her location through mobile phone records. She has reportedly informed authorities that the marriage was against her will and has agreed to appear for questioning. Officials stated that both sides will be examined and the authenticity of the claims made in the viral video is being verified.

The investigation is ongoing.
