00:00The widow of former Felcra Burhad non-executive chairman Bung Mokhtar Radin told the Sessions
00:07Court that she was paid RM2.8 million for introducing her late husband to a unit trust
00:13investment deal.
00:14Zizi Izzet Abdul Samad said she was initially shocked when public mutual investment agent
00:19Norhaili Ahmad Mokhtar told her during a phone call on June 11, 2015 that she would receive
00:26the sum as an introduction fee.
00:28According to Zizi's witness statement, Norhaili said it was her agency's regular practice
00:33and marketing strategy to pay introductory fees as a token of appreciation for helping them.
00:40Testifying in her defense, Zizi said she met Norhaili and another agent, Madi Abdul Hamid,
00:46at Public Bank's Taman Malawati branch the next day.
00:49According to Zizi, Norhaili told her that RM2.2 million would be paid in cash with the remaining
00:56RM600,000 invested in Public Mutual's unit trust products since she was already an investor
01:02with the firm.
01:03She said she did not inform Bung about the money because they had agreed to manage their business
01:08and investment affairs separately.
01:11Zizi also dismissed suggestions that the money was corrupt payments she had collected
01:15on Bung's behalf and denied ever receiving any money, including the RM2.8 million on her late
01:21husband's behalf.
