Classroom Roof Collapses in Bharatpur School; Teacher’s Swift Action Saves 10 Students

A major tragedy was averted in Bharatpur district, Rajasthan after the roof of a classroom at a government school collapsed on Saturday afternoon (28 Feb 2026).

The incident occurred around 2:30 pm at Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Government School in the Nagla Bhagat area under Sewar police station limits. At the time, a teacher was explaining Holi celebrations to students when cracking sounds were heard from the roof.

According to school authorities, the beams began making sharp noises and visible cracks quickly widened across the ceiling. Sensing imminent danger, the teacher immediately evacuated all 10 students from the classroom.

Within approximately three minutes of the evacuation, the roof collapsed completely with a loud crash, filling the room with dust and debris. A video of the incident has surfaced, capturing the dramatic collapse of the roof along with its supporting beams.

Fortunately, all students were safely moved out in time, preventing what could have been a serious accident.

The school has a total strength of 28 students and functions from 10 am to 4 pm.

Headmaster Kavita Devi stated that the roof had not shown any visible signs of structural weakness prior to the incident. “The roof appeared normal. If it had been in a dilapidated condition, we would have informed the authorities earlier. The collapse happened suddenly. The matter is under investigation,” she said.

Authorities are expected to conduct a structural assessment to determine the exact cause of the collapse.
