00:00I saw this last night and I promise you it is one of the most annoying things to me that
00:07fans do
00:07and I'm not going to say I don't understand it but it is super annoying to me like this person
00:14who text here wait in what world is Titus Howard considered good again I missed the memo all pro
00:22nope pro bowler nope also yesterday hell I saved this one Tyler uh dude saying that Titus Howard
00:29is a good offensive lineman on the bottom quarter ranked line is asinine good riddance what I don't
00:36want us to do is to just act like Titus Howard just sucked to act like Titus Howard was Jew
00:43Scruggs
00:43to act like Titus Howard was Kenyon Green to act like Titus Howard was Cam Robinson to act like
00:50Titus Howard was was Lakin Tomlinson to act like Titus Howard was Ken what was the Kenyon Green
00:57Kenyon what's the other green he had a Kendrick Kendrick Green there's there it is he had all
01:01the Ken Greens to act like he was Austin Deculis it was the Jalen before the the Jalens basically
01:06the Ken Greens yes to act like he was Shaq Mason to act like he was AJ Khan and like
01:12I like let's
01:12like we we can be you brought AJ Khan I did we can that's a deep cut we can be
01:18adults here like I'm
01:19not saying he's he's the best tackle of all time he's Walter Jones in here all right but he was
01:28your
01:28best offensive lineman that repeatedly was forced to play his worst position well center maybe but to
01:35play the worst position he plays and he was your best offensive lineman and this team seems to struggle
01:41finding him and to think trading away your best offensive lineman by the way the second year in a
01:46row to think like that is like like we don't have to poo poo Titus Howard was a good offensive
01:51lineman
01:52a good football player and the best that you had and so like I mean we don't have to do
01:57that like
01:58we don't have to just say oh he's oh Titus he did not suck he didn't he sucked as a
02:03guard at times when
02:04they forced him to play guard but he was a good football player it actually surprises me how simple
02:09people can be about it when they say he wasn't a pro bowler and he wasn't an all pro okay
02:14so he wasn't
02:15an elite offensive lineman but anybody that can be on a team for seven seasons be a first round pick
02:23who gets a second contract and now by the way has gotten a third contract so think whatever you want
02:27to think about Titus Howard but he was good enough for the Texans to think enough of him to give
02:31him
02:32another contract and now the Browns now maybe you don't respect the Texans and you don't respect the
02:36Browns which I can understand if that's the case but two NFL teams after the first one decided to draft
02:42him
02:42with a first round pick have now decided to sign him to he's getting his third contract to extended
02:47money exactly he is on his third contract his second extension so just by that standard he is a
02:54success in the NFL and then to the point about just his time with the Texans specifically he played
02:59seven seasons here was a part of four playoff teams and in between that was stuck in the mud and
03:06played
03:06through that as well so he was a part of some of the best and worst moments that all Texans
03:12fans can
03:12remember in Texans history played again with four playoff teams and then through a rebuild in between
03:18that so normally it's surprising to me because normally when somebody goes to war for you like
03:23that goes to war for your franchise to those kind of depths and is around as long as Titus Howard
03:28has
03:29been around even if he wasn't all pro even if he wasn't a pro bowler normally somebody that plays for
03:34you that long through that many ups and downs gets a little bit more respect out the door than
03:39this guy was a bum was never good anyway good riddance he was actually a soldier for this team
03:45for a really long time even if he wasn't an all pro even if he wasn't a pro bowler it's
03:50just something
03:50that he fans do it's weird actually it's not all but it's not all of you but it's just certain
03:54like man if Derek Stingley left that people would come in and say well you know he got hurt all
03:59the
03:59time but but they would do but you know normally I feel like the the thing that the fan normally
04:05does
04:06is overvalue a player is overly until they're gone celebrate their player or think of their player a
04:13lot more highly than say people outside of the market who didn't watch them every day and for
04:18whatever reason it's the opposite with Titus Howard where it's like the the people who were exposed to
04:23him the most have the least appreciation for him as opposed to maybe around the league like they're
04:29around the league probably looking at him it's like hey they the Browns just added a you know a starting
04:33caliber either tackle or guard whereas Texans fans are like don't let the don't let the yes please
04:40fans are like don't let the door hit you this is fair it is odd this is fair Titus is
04:45uh is very
04:46good is a very good old lineman but not worth 21 million in my book that's fine that's absolutely the
04:52case that's fair that's fair but he is specifically not worth 21 million to where the Texans are right
04:59now in their sort of life cycle with the cap and who they have to pay and the fact that
05:04they've had
05:05an expensive offensive line before that Titus Howard was a part of and it didn't work so now it's just
05:10time to do something different again he's been here seven years he's not worth 21 million to the
05:15Texans I could see how he's worth 21 million to the Browns even though we don't take the Browns
05:20seriously as an organization so it's really more so about fit circumstance and timing than the fact
05:25he's a good football that he's not great that he's not yeah he's not great but he's been he's been
05:30good for them and has a chance to be good for the Browns all right this is where I want
05:34to get it I just
05:35had to get that off I see this like when when a player leaves I just act like they just
05:40sucked
05:40ass and that is not the case but this is a this is a space where I want to get
05:44with people and we'll open up the
05:45phone lines here because I do want to hear your thoughts on this 713-5724-610 and I know and
05:51I know
05:51you have some thoughts I just want to I just want to make this very clear we understand they've traded
05:56Titus Howard which now opens up the door as you said in the crosstalk they got four spots open
06:03there is no chance in hell that there is anybody anybody and we're going to open these phone lines
06:10up and I would I dare you to be the one that is there is no chance there is anybody
06:16out there
06:18that isn't nervous or concerned about how the Texans are going to handle this offensive line
06:26situation there is there there is no way and I think that is the that is the number one thing
06:32right now is to look is all right they've made the move to Titus Howard if you didn't think he
06:37was
06:37worthy you thought it was time for him to move on that's cool but now they just have Ariante
06:41Ursary as you said he can't block every spot they got Ariante Ursary and now they got to feel four
06:48spots four spots on a team that has aspirations to get to a Super Bowl they got to feel four
06:56spots
06:56in this important season for their quarterback and to figure out what they're going to do with
07:00their quarterback there is no way that anybody is out there with the history of what the Texans
07:06have been able to do at the offensive line position I don't know how many times this is is this
07:11is that
07:12they're going to revamp this there is nobody out there that is comfortable there is nobody like
07:18odds are most are like I don't know how good I'm gonna feel about this or how they're gonna do
07:23just
07:24with their history I would love to hear that person that isn't concerned and I'll tell you it's all right
07:28to be you should be with what they have done at the offensive line in the past why would you
07:33be
07:33comfortable why would you not be concerned what reason have the Texans given you to have faith
07:40in them being up to the task of revamping not just a couple spots a spot here or there on
07:47the
07:47offensive line but basically damn near the whole thing and even with the possibility of moving because
07:52we've heard this be out there right of Ariante Ursary moving from left to right if they go out and
07:57get say
07:58a Trent Williams or or a high level left tackle which would also make me nervous because now they're
08:04doing the Titus Howard thing again where they're moving guys around and playing musical chairs along
08:08the offensive line so and and then there's another example the the worst thing about Titus Howard you
08:15could argue was the way he was used and managed throughout his career here the fact that they
08:19couldn't put him at a spot and leave him there so everything about the Texans track record which to me
08:25also creates a level of urgency with this it's like you got this huge need you also got a little
08:31bit of something to prove not a little bit I'm I'm underselling it there you got a lot to prove
08:35in this
08:35realm of hey we actually know what we're doing in making a good offensive I got no idea where they're
08:41going to go Texans haven't had a good offensive line now through multiple regimes it's been closer to
08:47almost past a decade now since the Texans had a legitimately good offensive line and certainly not in this
08:52regime they've been kind of piecing it together ever since and this is another thing that should
08:56make you nervous it wouldn't be the first time let's say they go out and spend all the money and
09:00you feel good about it and I'd be the first one to celebrate it because I want them to be
09:03aggressive
09:05they've had the most expensive offensive line in the league before and it didn't work out back in
09:10the Laramie Tunsil Titus Howard Shaq Mason days and Kenyon Green was a first round bit uh first round pick
09:16and they had just drafted Drew Scruggs in the second round and they had invested all this in the
09:21offensive line in the offensive line and had tried their hardest and failed and so those are the
09:27reasons to have some angst even if you are actually excited about the opportunity and excited about the
09:33urgency and know that this is the thing that's going to put you over the top if you get it
09:36right
09:38confidence comfortability none of that no sir oh no I I am I have no idea what they're going to
09:45do
09:45I am I am I am if I I ain't gonna lie if I'm gonna take I'm really nervous on
09:52what they're going to do
09:53someone text in um have you heard of learning from the past learn from your mistakes I hope so
09:58Tyler how many times do you think they have tried to revamp the offensive line since Nick Casario's been
10:03uh somewhere around all five fingers on one hand maybe even more yeah no they're learning from it for
10:10the fifth time yeah and I hope so like it's maddening this is the fifth time they're learning
10:16from it like it's like the first time this ain't this ain't George Bush fooled me once fool me twice
10:22we're we're fooled four times that texture is asking us to have blind faith which I'm I'm not gonna tell
10:29him or her not to like do do what you feel but I'll speak for myself and it sounds like
10:35from what's in
10:37this studio we're not just gonna have blind faith and say well they're just gonna learn from I just
10:40I just don't think you yeah hopefully so but you can how can you you cannot have blind faith well
10:46how
10:46do you know until they do it right like think about the Bears they're talking about the Bears
10:50because Drew Dahlman retired right out of nowhere the Bears ain't never had a good quarterback the Bears
10:56coaching situation been shaky since Mike Dicker but now they got Ben Johnson now they got Caleb Williams
11:03and it can be like none of that never happened before so it's like Bears fans forever were like
11:08will we ever get a quarterback will we ever get a good coach what confidence should Caleb Williams even
11:13want to come here since Chicago is this place that doesn't know how to treat quarterbacks and you can
11:17understand that but like that's that would be like blind you you're just you're hoping for the best
11:24that you land in that spot where all of a sudden it just kind of all comes together and they
11:28just
11:29they accidentally get it right hey there's one center on the market that you really need to be
11:33out for and you got the money to go get them Tyler Linderbaum does that make them football geniuses
11:38because they knew they won't always but they won't always do that it will be great if they even luck
11:44into it is what I'm saying but that's all part of it we gotta there's not a deal to understand
11:49that
11:49they'll do that
