00:01Hi there.
00:01Very good morning to you.
00:02Following that taste of spring a couple of days ago, it's not the most pleasant end to
00:08week with low pressure sticking close to the south of the UK.
00:13These weather fronts only slowly clearing away and, if anything, they'll pop up a little
00:18bit by the end of the day.
00:20So it's a damp and gloomy start for England and Wales, particularly through the Midlands
00:23and Wales.
00:24The rain is turning more showery at times, but also in places there will be some heavy
00:30and persistent outbreaks of wet weather.
00:33Meanwhile, we start the day with frequent showers across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:37Those showers become fewer and further between by the afternoon, with a better chance of sunshine
00:43breaking through.
00:43The wind's easing as well, so less blustery, but it's going to feel fresher compared with
00:48recent days for Scotland and Northern Ireland, with temperatures around the mid to high single
00:52figures again.
00:54Northern England, North Wales, mostly dry, albeit rather cloudy.
00:58And then you come further south, you get into this rain that is hanging around like an unwelcome
01:04visitor and it's a concern heavier at times, quite showery in nature, so it's not going
01:09to be raining everywhere all the time.
01:11But it will be perhaps intensifying as we end the afternoon and go into the evening and
01:16see the areas most likely affected, parts of Wales, the Midlands and then by the end of
01:20the night it's towards the east and south east of the England where that rain is clearing
01:25away.
01:26Showers follow, but actually some decent clearer spells as well, especially for Scotland and
01:32Northern Ireland where we're in that fresher airflow, so temperatures will fall away and
01:36we'll have a touch of frost first thing this weekend.
01:40Brighter skies to wake up to as well for Western England and Wales, albeit with a chill in the
01:45air, a colder night to come compared with recent nights, but we've got the cloud and those outbreaks
01:50of rain for the east of England only slowly peeling away through the morning, eventually
01:55turning brighter.
01:56A legacy of cloud and some further showers developing through Northern England, Eastern England and
02:01much of Scotland by the afternoon.
02:03Then we've got this gap with some sunshine before the next bout of showery rain starts to move in,
02:10reaching Northern Ireland by the end of the afternoon.
02:13But in between, some decent sunny spells, like I say, it's going to feel fresher compared
02:17with recent days, temperatures down a few degrees, 9 to 11 Celsius typically, 7 to 8 in
02:24the north east of Scotland.
02:26Sunday sees that showery area of rain move west to east across the UK, but Monday, Tuesday
02:33we'll see higher pressure emerge and that will bring, for many of us, a drier spell, at
02:37least for a couple of days.
