Two youths were booked on Sunday, February 15, after one of them allegedly posed as a woman by wearing a burqa and scarf at the Korutla bus station in Jagtial district, Telangana.

Confirming the incident, Korutla Sub-Inspector Chiranjeevi said the act was carried out to create videos for Instagram.

“The incident took place at the Korutla bus station on Sunday afternoon. The youth wearing a burqa was Mohammed Numan. He had come along with his friend Mohammed Akeel to make Instagram videos,” the officer said.

Numan, 21, reportedly sat in the women’s section of the bus station, which raised suspicion among commuters. An RTC constable noticed that he was a man and immediately informed the police.

Police said Numan had previously made four to five similar videos with Akeel for social media. Numan’s father runs a hotel in Paidimadugu village in Korutla mandal.

Both youths have been booked for a non-cognizable and bailable offence under Section 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 290 of the Indian Penal Code, both relating to public nuisance and punishable with a fine.

Further action will be taken as per law.
