Tension at Lal Darwaza After Attack on AIMIM Workers; Heavy Police Deployment

Hyderabad (Telangana): Tension prevailed for some time at Lal Darwaza near the Maisamma Temple on the night of February 15, 2026, after a group of individuals allegedly assaulted workers of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and damaged the party flag.

The Incident:
A group of AIMIM workers, including Arif Pathan Khan from Buldana district in Maharashtra, had travelled to Hyderabad to attend the party’s 68th Anniversary (Revival Day) celebrations at Darussalam.

According to reports, the workers were travelling in a car displaying the party flag when they reached Lal Darwaza near the Maisamma Temple. They were allegedly intercepted by a group of persons who abused them, physically assaulted them, and damaged the AIMIM party flag.

Eyewitness accounts claim that a police personnel was present nearby during the scuffle.

Complaint and Police Response:
Following the incident, AIMIM MLA Zulfeqar Ali reached the Moghalpura Police Station along with party workers and lodged a formal complaint.

Police registered a case and initiated an investigation. The Inspector and ACP of the Charminar division assured the party leadership that strict action would be taken against those responsible.

Security Measures and Current Situation:
To prevent further escalation, heavy security was deployed in Lal Darwaza and adjoining areas such as Gowlipura. The Hyderabad City Police, including the DCP Charminar Zone and Task Force teams, intensified patrolling and monitoring.

Authorities have stated that the situation is now peaceful and remains under close surveillance to maintain law and order.

Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those involved in the assault.
