00:00Let's get to the spread lines that you know and love. College basketball NBA action. What could it be here? The biggest games of the night that you need to focus on and that starts in Nebraska in the Big Ten. The Purdue Boilermakers come to town to take on Nebraska. This line overnight, Joe, showed around a minus one and a half depending on where you're shopping at this morning. Some two and a half's now starting to infiltrate in the sports betting landscape. A total is at 147 and a half. Nebraska, from what we know, really good basketball club. The best team in conference play at taking care of
00:29the basketball on offense. Purdue comes to town as a slight underdog, Joe. What's that spread lines for tonight's game of the Big Ten? Yeah, you know, a lot of people very worried about Purdue, Donnie, especially those that are holding some future tickets on. Don't forget, they were one of the more hyped teams coming into this season. We knew Nebraska would be good, but nobody thought Nebraska was going to be this good here. They had to suffer through a little bit of a losing streak there. They kind of hit a brick wall.
00:59But this is a big spot for Fred Hoiberg here and the Cornhuskers at home against a Purdue team that suddenly, Donnie, doesn't really know who they are right now. I mean, Braden Smith and TKR, just everything is a struggle right now. And it's been like that. So Nebraska being a favorite at this point, I would venture to say, Donnie, if this was a little over a month ago, Purdue likely is the favorite in this game.
01:27But no more. And that's a telling sign right now heading into this game tonight.
01:31Let's head over to the ACC, the Wattsco Center in South Florida. That's the Miami Hurricanes at home taking on the North Carolina Tar Heels. Last time we saw North Carolina upsetting Duke at home, a huge game. Could there be a little bit of a hangover once they get to South Beach? But understand this, this line opened up at one and a half overnight, Joe. Still sits at one and a half today, even some minus ones in the marketplace, despite 75% of the tickets coming in on North Carolina.
01:56Here's what I see in this game, Joe, to be honest, though. Miami on offense is the number one team in conference play getting to the free throw line. However, UNC doesn't foul number two in conference play.
02:07If you take a look at three point range, they give it up at will UNC last in defense in the conference at 18th, allowing 41% from three point range.
02:16However, Miami's only 16th in conference play at making the three balls and also 17th in conference play at volume. What gives tonight? Is it a hangover in South Beach or what, Joe? What's that spread line?
02:28Well, that's the big thing that you have to decide, Donnie, is what version of North Carolina are we going to get? Are they what we like to call fat and sassy right now? Because they end up, they're on a great winning streak. They just took down Virginia. They just took down, of course, Duke, their heated rival. And now they got to travel. And they've done well here over the years at the Wasco Center.
02:53They've handled their business here. These are two very big teams, too. I'm talking 6-10, 6-11 guys in the front court. There's going to be a lot of banging of bodies going on, a lot of rebounds. But you nailed it. Miami is going to have to do this by being out physical North Carolina because they certainly aren't going to do it by shooting threes over them. The question is, can we trust the Tar Heels to make enough to run away with this here, Donnie?
03:20I don't think the letdown happens. I think we're a little late in the season. I think North Carolina shows they're the better team and more deep team.
03:30I agree with that. Vanderbilt and Auburn tonight in the SEC. At home is Vanderbilt. But how about this overnight, Joe? Those minus one and a halfs have disappeared into minus three and a halfs.
03:39Still is a favorite towards Auburn and a total of 162 and a half. You look at Auburn's defense, 16th in conference play at effective field goal percentage, which means they don't defend all that well, specifically from the three-point line.
03:50Vandy, good three-point shooting team. Shoots with a lot of volume. That could be an indicator. But right now, that line moving in the direction of Auburn.
03:57Joe, what's that spread line for you tonight?
03:58Well, both these teams coming off of losses. They're Auburn at home against Alabama over the weekend, and they could not get it done.
04:07They let Alabama handle their business. And Auburn has been tremendous at home, Donnie.
04:14And Vandy, for the most part, had been pretty good at home, too, except they just let Oklahoma wax them over the weekend.
04:21And that is not great. Listen, the SEC is very competitive here. Vandy has not gone to Auburn and had a ton of success.
04:31In fact, they haven't won at Auburn since February 13th of 2016. That's correct, Donnie.
04:39It has been forever since they've actually gone to Auburn and won this game.
04:44And I think what you're starting to see is the money come rolling in. A lot of people are waking up to that fact that this has not been a good place for Vanderbilt.
04:53And backing them? Careful. Both these teams need a win, and both are coming off losses here.
04:59Can Auburn get it done? I don't know. The more that rises, the more I'm looking at Vandy right now.
05:05Ah, let's rock and roll. It's college basketball season heating up here.
05:08As we sit on February 10th, 2026, and I say this, you know, ad nauseum, the end of the month, Joe, we're already going to have conference tournaments underway as we bleed into March.
05:17Selection Sunday, March Madness, and away we go to the Final Four and the National Championship game.
05:22Now, we're going to put up a graphic for you for the AP Top 25 as of February the 9th, which was yesterday, which will possibly be changing this week.
05:30Why? The number one overall team in the nation, that's Arizona.
05:32Will they drop behind Michigan and or Houston with their loss to Kansas on the road?
05:37And also Kansas, Joe, sitting at number nine, due to move up as well.
05:42The AP Top 25 continues to roll on, and also Duke at number four after losing over the weekend to UNC.
05:48A lot still to be determined here, Donnie, as we get through the month of February here.
05:55And listen, Arizona was comfortably in front in the Big 12, right?
06:01Would anybody catch them? Well, Houston refuses to go away.
06:04We've seen that, right?
06:05The schedule does not get easier.
06:08And we had always said that when it comes to Arizona, they're likely, I would rather them lose a game now, Donnie, especially that game.
06:17Everyone had that game last night because you can play well at Fog Island and still lose, which is kind of exactly what happened to them last night.
06:25But now you've got that loss out of the way.
06:28What you don't want is what Miami of Ohio's got going on, which is now you've got the pressure of running the table and being the only undefeated left.
06:37Arizona now can kind of regroup, take another step, and I think they'll be good to go.
06:42Ultimately, it's going to come down to Houston, Kansas, and Arizona in the Big 12.
06:47Here's what we need, Joe.
06:49Miami to run the table, go undefeated, and as you pointed out, lose round number one in the MAAC tournament and get left out on the bubble here on Selection Sunday.
06:56It's the only way that we can be happy and have some sanity is some insanity in college basketball, which, talking about insanity, pros coming back to play, circumventing the system, using the courts to take advantage of it.
07:08How about this?
07:09And on three posts from yesterday, NCAA President Charlie Baker on the Charles Bediaco eligibility ruling.
07:14Quote, common sense won a round today.
07:17The court saw this for what it is, an attempt by professionals to pivot back to college and crowd out the next generation of students.
07:25He's right about this.
07:26And I wish there was a different way that they can actually play this out.
07:29Oh, you want to take this to courts?
07:30Good.
07:30While you're taking it to the courts, you sit out until we have something definitive at this point here.
07:35It's good that we saw through, but still, bastardizes the whole sport at this point because he did play and teams were affected by it.
07:41As you said, Joe, three and two years.
07:43So, he picked up three wins while this ineligible player was playing while everybody knew he should be ineligible.
07:49Yeah.
07:50It just, you know, how anybody granted a temporary restraining order to immediately begin his eligibility last month is kind of head-scratching to begin with, Donnie.
08:02And I don't fault.
08:04Listen, I do not fault, you know, Coach Oates here and the Crimson.
08:09You're just playing by the rules, right?
08:11You know, hate the game, don't hate the player, right?
08:15That's the bottom line here.
08:16But now, at least this is our first case where all of these guys pushing the envelope.
08:22We saw it with the, you know, with the quarterback there from Ole Miss, right?
08:26Now we're starting to see it here where, you know, hopefully more common sense prevails and less of this.
08:33Oh, the guy played overseas for four years.
08:35Now he's going to come and get a bag in the NIL era.
08:38Like, let's hope that ends sooner rather than later.
08:41How about this story coming up next from Nebraska?
08:44Now, you might see it.
08:45We always get a laugh out of it.
08:46Like, hey, in the NFL, the guy just made a 67-yard field goal.
08:49Oh, look at this.
08:50In his locker is a little cup to pee in.
08:51And we're going to test you to see if you had any enhancing drugs here to help you make that.
08:55Or, man, I just hit four home runs last night.
08:57Oh, yeah.
08:57You're going to take a drug test right now to see and make sure that you are clean.
09:01How about this from Front Office Sports?
09:02The College Sports Commission opened an investigation into Nebraska athletes over unreported NIL deals.
09:09So you might think to yourself, like, wait a second.
09:10We were just talking a few weeks ago.
09:12Nebraska basketball is undefeated with a long win streak here.
09:15What gives here?
09:16Yeah, they're checking into it for the NCAA going, like, wait a second.
09:19And the rest is going to basketball, that means they must be cheating, Joe.
09:23Well, of course, right?
09:25And, well, listen, a lot of people have been speculating, too, about that football team.
09:30Like, how did they get some of the guys that they got coming over here?
09:35So, which is hysterical because I don't even know how unreported NIL, like, how does that even happen?
09:41It is still the wild, wild west.
09:43And now, all of a sudden, now they're going to clamp down on supposed, you know, unauthorized.
09:49What is unauthorized NIL deals anyway, Donnie?
09:52I'm kind of curious.
09:54Yeah, that's what we, I mean, come on, man.
09:55The unauthorized NIL deals, getting money under the table.
09:58Last time I saw that was, I think it was, it was the defensive end from Kansas City, went to Denver, helped them, I think, win a Super Bowl.
10:05And it was apparent that, like, well, how did they afford this guy?
10:07Well, they paid him, like, $800,000 on the table but gave him, like, $3 million under the table.
10:11It feels like that's what it is.
10:13But if there's NIL, why is there a limit anyway?
10:16Anybody should get paid from anywhere.
10:17It's NIL, you're allowed to get money.
10:19What do you mean, unauthorized deal?
10:20Like, where did it come from?
10:22Straight drug money or, hey, he's sponsored by Columbia and they gave him six pounds of cocaine to distribute on camp.
10:27What are we talking about here?
10:28Kids get paid.
10:29Unauthorized or not, they're getting paid.
10:32Doesn't make any sense at this point right now.
10:34But it is what it is.
10:35And Purdue is going to take on Nebraska at home tonight.
10:38Excuse me, Purdue's on the road to take on Nebraska.
10:40Nebraska, Joe, the favorites.
10:41Minus two and a half tonight and a total of 148 and a half.
10:45Unauthorized victory tonight by Nebraska?
10:47What do you think?
10:47Listen, Nebraska, it's not a great matchup for Nebraska, I'll tell you this.
10:55Far too many shooters here on Purdue and how they end up playing the game.
11:01But it's kind of been feast or famine for Purdue over the last month, right?
11:06So the big question is, I have no doubt if Purdue is hitting the shots, right?
11:11If Brandon Smith and company are getting it done, if they have, and I don't know how much resistance they're going to get,
11:18they're going to win this game, Purdue, and they're going to win it rather easily.
11:22But that's a big if, given what we've seen from them over the last month.
11:27They just have not shot the ball well.
11:30And we know what Nebraska can do at home.
11:32This feels like an over, Donnie.
11:34Does it not to me?
11:35It just feels like points are coming.
11:38Get some tempo.
11:39Get after it out here.
11:40And talking about tempo and getting points and getting after it,
11:42you saw that last night in the Big East at Madison Square Garden, 87-82.
11:46The St. John's Red Storm victorious.
11:49How about this, Joe?
11:49High-scoring first half, 42-42.
11:52Second half, 36-36.
11:54In overtime, St. John's outlasted Xavier by beating them 9-4 in that frame for a five-point victory in this game.
12:0130 personal fouls for Xavier, 15 personal fouls for the Red Storm,
12:05and 25 points from Zuby Ejiofor in a winning effort for St. John's, 12-1 now in the Big East.
12:11Well, we told you, right?
12:12Like 17 days ago, Papa beat Junior Pitino there for his 900th win.
12:19And boy, oh boy.
12:20Listen, Xavier gave him a run for the money in that game.
12:23They gave him a run for the money last night.
12:25We talked about it, right?
12:27Could this be one of those letdown spots with the Johnnies having just beaten, you know, UConn at the Garden?
12:34A big, I mean, a huge game in the Big East.
12:37It kind of felt like that, but give Xavier credit, man.
12:41That was like their national championship game.
12:44And once again, they felt just a little bit short.
12:47Peterson sitting out last night for Kansas.
12:49Oh, looks like Arizona's going to continue staying unbeaten.
12:52It looked like they were.
12:5345-42 at the break.
12:54They pull away by double digits early in the second half, only to see a furious comeback from the Kansas Jayhawks.
13:00Badunga, 23 points and 10 rebounds in that game.
13:02Melvin Council, Junior, fantastic.
13:0423 points in that game and also added six points, excuse me, six rebounds and six assists.
13:10Also, kids, when you grow up, they tell you, take it to the rim strong.
13:14Why?
13:15Free throws made by Arizona.
13:16Eight.
13:17Free throws made by Kansas.
13:1921.
13:20That was the difference in the game.
13:21Great comeback at the fog.
13:22A victory for the Jayhawks and the Arizona Wildcats' first loss this season.
13:28Listen, I mean, that line went out of control 10 minutes before the tip.
13:34When he was out there shooting around pregame, then all of a sudden couldn't make a go of it.
13:40And that was the end of that.
13:42Just head scratching.
13:44But, you know, ultimately, it gave them a motivation to be able to rise up.
13:48And Kansas has still got some players there outside of Darren Peterson, don't they?
13:54Yeah, they do.
13:54By the way, in the ACC tonight, North Carolina is going to take on Miami.
13:58Hangover is what you're betting tonight.
13:59The better basketball team is UNC, statistically on paper.
14:02And by the way, UNC, Joe, the number one most efficient offense in ACC play, comes down to take on Miami.
14:08You're betting against, is UNC ready to play or are they hungover here?
14:13Listen, Miami doesn't have any depth.
14:16I mean, they got seven bench points in their last game.
14:19That's not going to cut it against UNC.
14:21So we've got to take out, Joe.
14:22What do people care about today in our Fade to Public Poll?
14:33Joe's team.
14:34That's who we're talking about.
14:35Miami.
14:36Not the Hurricanes.
14:36Miami, Ohio.
14:37The Red Hawks here.
14:38The question we asked today at SportsGrid, will Miami of Ohio go undefeated this season, Joe?
14:44And there's a lot of haters out there.
14:46You'll see the graphic pop up at about 65% live at that 68% to the no, Joe.
14:52By the way, I don't think they understand this poll where they voted on it because it is regular season.
14:57People probably like, oh, Miami, Ohio is not going to run the table, win a national championship.
15:01Who did it?
15:02Did Luke do it?
15:03Who did it behind the scenes here?
15:04Was it Tommy?
15:05Luke?
15:05Who messed that up?
15:06Come on now.
15:07Yeah.
15:08Yeah.
15:08No, it's regular season, not full season.
15:10Regular season.
15:12And Donnie, we've laid it out for you.
15:14We have been for months, and hopefully you guys have been able to get in on this number because it's been, it was really, you would have thought it was nearly impossible a month ago.
15:25But the conference plays in, the schedule plays in, and Donnie, there is, it is, there is really the only thing they have to prevent is beating themselves, and they have not done that.
15:37They've gotten a little luck along the way, but you can't run the table, Donnie, without getting a little bit of luck in your favor.
15:43So, hopefully they finish it off for us, and we can cash that ticket.
15:48And also talking about cashing tickets here.
15:50How about some of those best bets?
15:51Here's bye, bye, bye.
15:59The floor is yours, Joe.
16:01Where are we going tonight?
16:02Best bets.
16:03Let's get it.
16:03Well, Donnie, I could say with a certain, you know, certainty here that I would not want to be the Pitt Panthers here tonight when the Duke Blue Devils come to town.
16:18Not to mention that they just lost in unbelievable fashion to UNC.
16:23It's how they lost, Donnie.
16:24They controlled that entire game, and then all of a sudden, the final seven minutes, they couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat.
16:32Now they get to take out the frustration on a Pitt team who just got blown out by Virginia by 20, by 19, by SMU, and it's not a good matchup.
16:42They're going to score at will here, Duke.
16:44I think this has got blowout written all over it.
16:47I could see a 20 or more point win here tonight for the Duke Blue Devils.
16:53Don't be scared off by the number.
