00:00Friday's Top Spreadlines. You know you need these here tonight. A little bit of a mix of college basketball action.
00:05More importantly, take a look at some NBA action and away we go. Let's start in college basketball.
00:10The 7 o'clock start tonight. VCU going to take on St. Louis. Last time we checked on St. Louis,
00:15they only had one loss on the season.
00:17Incredible, right? Well, they just lost their last game. And by the way, don't look now. VCU on a streak
00:22of their own, Joe.
00:23This line opened up overnight at 8.5 points. It's actually dropped to 7.5 to many locations and a
00:29total of 164.5.
00:31St. Louis has the number one defense inefficiency in conference play. Also the number one offense inefficiency in conference play.
00:38Coming off their second loss of the season. Can they win or more importantly, can they cover in this game?
00:43What's your spread line, Joe?
00:44I mean, this is the Atlantic 10 game of the year. And frankly, Don, if we're being honest, this is
00:50the mid-major game of the year so far.
00:52Yeah. St. Louis and VCU. I mean, we're talking about a VCU team now, 21-6, going up against a
00:5825-1, what, St. Louis team here, Donnie,
01:02that if we're being completely honest, we haven't seen a game at this point in the season in the Atlantic
01:0710
01:08with these two teams that have these few of losses since 2004.
01:14Now, listen, St. Louis can bounce back in a big way here at home. Look at that number, 7.5,
01:21Donnie. That's what it was overnight.
01:22We're still seeing 7.5s here. So maybe the market's going, ah, maybe it's, maybe the regression's about to hit
01:30here for St. Louis.
01:32But that's still a very big number, Donnie. Also, the total has cranked up three points since the open of
01:39161, 161.5.
01:41We're seeing 164.5, 165. So I can tell you this, I don't think I want to sweat out and
01:47under,
01:48not with the pace and the shooting of both of these teams and the three-point shooting.
01:52I might be looking at the over in this one.
01:55Let's get over to the Big Ten, Mackie Arena. Last time we were in Mackie Arena, Purdue was looking for
01:59an upset,
02:00but weren't able to get it done. They took a loss there. Indiana's last game, they took a loss as
02:04well.
02:05Both teams looking to get back into the win column tonight. Indiana's going to take on Purdue, a battle of
02:09the state here.
02:10Minus 10.5 at the opening number. Still sits at most outlets today at minus 10.5.
02:15A total now up a bit to 148.5. Indiana-Purdue, Big Ten basketball on a Friday night, Joe. What's
02:22that spread line?
02:23Well, I mean, listen, Indiana won the first game between these two teams.
02:28Can they go ahead and do it again in this one here, Donnie? I mean, the market doesn't seem to
02:33think so, though,
02:33because it's already been all Purdue, it looks like, here. Now up to 11 at 148.5.
02:39Listen, Mackie Arena has not been kind to Purdue, but that's when they got to play the Michigans of the
02:47world
02:47and the better teams of the world. But right now, I don't consider Indiana to be anywhere in that ballpark.
02:52So, yeah, I think this is a get-right spot for Purdue, and so does the market.
02:58Double digits here at Mackie Arena. Could be a long night for Indiana.
03:04Can you stay unbeaten in the MAAC? Bowling Green going to take on Miami of Ohio.
03:09By the way, if you haven't been watching out, Miami of Ohio games at home.
03:12Sellout crowds here. Raucous arenas. Can they keep it up tonight? Because why?
03:16Miami of Ohio favored overnight at minus 7.5.
03:19Now we're seeing 8.5 at a lot of places in the sports betting landscape here.
03:23153.5 as a total. Undefeated or defeated tonight, Joe?
03:28What's that spread line? Bowling Green, Miami.
03:30The only remaining unbeaten team, Donnie, right, in college basketball.
03:35And listen, they are scrappy, if nothing else.
03:39It's not like they're so dominant they're blowing teams away.
03:42But in the second half, Donnie, when they need buckets, when they need to get a stop, they get them.
03:48I mean, they're as scrappy as a team, as you are going to see.
03:51And now they have an opportunity to keep it rolling.
03:54Listen, Ken Palm has them as about a 30% chance to run the table in these remaining five games.
04:02Wow.
04:03The Red Hawks are at home.
04:04They got three more games on the road, Donnie.
04:06I think this one we shouldn't worry about.
04:09But again, if it ain't broke, why are we trying to fix it with this team?
04:13I don't think Bowling Green's got enough in the tank to take them to task on the road.
04:18I think the Red Hawks get it done and cover this game here tonight.
04:22Keep it moving.
04:23Stay undefeated.
04:24Let's get the party started.
04:26Only a couple weeks left in the regular season.
04:27Can they run the table and stay unbeaten into the conference tournament?
04:30We'll find that out shortly.
04:32Can they pick up that W tonight?
04:33We'll find out.
04:35Expansion, Joe.
04:36So when you hear that, it's like, hey, more money's coming in.
04:38But is that actually for the good of the game?
04:41The only expansion I believe in is college football because Division I, it used to be Division I AA, which
04:46is FCS now.
04:47Division II and Division III have massive football playoffs.
04:50It all works out well, and they're done way before anything in Division IA, which is now the, you know,
04:56FBS, as we like to say, whatever they call it now, the playoffs.
04:59Who cares?
05:00But in college basketball, there was once a time where we didn't have so many teams in it.
05:0464 turns into 68.
05:05Now they want somewhere into the 70s.
05:07Isn't it a big deal on its view right now?
05:10Not necessarily.
05:11But I know a lot of people don't like change.
05:14And change sometimes is needed because we have to act upon things because they're wrong.
05:18The BCS era, one versus two plays, ridiculous, voted on by computer.
05:22You want to see championships played out on the field?
05:24And we're getting that way in major Division I college football.
05:27But basketball, 68 to 72 to 76, is there really a difference?
05:31And do we actually need it, Joe?
05:34Because the NCAA is going like, we don't need it, but it might be worth more money.
05:38Oh, it's definitely worth more money, but we don't need it.
05:42It is the one thing in college sports right now that does not need to be fixed, right?
05:49Why are we trying to fix things that are broken?
05:51You've got a lot of things wrong in college sports right now.
05:54But the idea of adding 72, 76 teams, and by the way, this isn't mid-majors that this is going
06:02to help, Donnie.
06:03This wouldn't help Stonehill or LeMoyne.
06:06It's going to help Rutgers.
06:08All the bottom tier of the power conferences that weren't good enough to win enough games to get in on
06:15their own as an at-large
06:17or, heaven forbid, actually win the conference.
06:21Everybody is on level ground, Donnie.
06:23You win, win your conference, and you're in.
06:26It's that simple.
06:28You're right about the one thing here because, like, being a college basketball purist, like, you know,
06:32back in the day, you see these teams, but some of the fun of the tournament was like,
06:35hey, these 50-year seniors, all five of them from, I don't know, just a sunbelt team, let's just call
06:41it,
06:41is playing that were 26-1 in the regular season.
06:44You want to give those guys the bumps.
06:45But, again, in the day and age of teams staying together, if you're very good at a lower level, you're
06:51gone
06:51because the NIL is going to take you up to that next level, even if you're a seventh or eighth
06:55man off of the bench.
06:56And Joe is right.
06:56If he was like, okay, here's the clause, six more teams are added, we're going to take the best record
07:00of the non-mid majors
07:01and give them free access for five more teams, we would agree upon that.
07:05But Joe is right.
07:06This is going to be the ACC team that won six games that gets in now.
07:09It's like, well, wait, what are we actually doing here when you're still leaving out the 26-2 team from
07:13the OVC at this point?
07:14That's what the changes don't need to be made, but if there's more money in it, they're going to take
07:18it every single time.
07:19You watch it in the NFL, hey, this game is great, great, let's put more teams in Adelaide, you know,
07:24Australia at this point.
07:25It doesn't make sense, it only makes sense because it makes more money at this point here.
07:29Let's get to some of that college basketball card tonight, Joe, and come on now.
07:33Bowling Green versus Miami in Oxford, Ohio tonight.
07:37The favorite, Miami of Ohio, by double digits here as we're looking.
07:41And by the way, that Bowling Green double digits, I'm checking right now, Joe, I got seven and a half
07:45across the board.
07:46So I don't know where these double digits or where these books are happening.
07:49153 and a half.
07:50Miami of Ohio tonight, do they stay unbeaten?
07:52That's your question.
07:54Well, they already beat this Bowling Green team in Bowling Green earlier, Donnie, and they did it actually, well, rather
08:04easily here.
08:05And listen, Bowling Green's a very, yeah, I mean, they're a streaky team, streaky shooting team here, right?
08:11But a 93-83 game that was, I believe, December 30th, Bowling Green actually was down 54-28 at the
08:21half and came back in that game.
08:23But, you know, ultimately, it's just too much Red Hawks.
08:27If they've shown anything, Donnie, it's that this whole idea of running the tables and being the only undefeated.
08:33It hasn't really, they play the same way every game they have been now since the hype of this was
08:39brought up, what, over a month ago?
08:41So at home, I don't see Bowling Green being the team to take down the Red Hawks here.
08:48I think they get this win rather easily.
08:51Red Hawks offense, fantastic, Joe.
08:53Number one overall in conference play and efficiency.
08:55But how about this, though?
08:56Bowling Green's defense, not too bad, Joe.
08:57Joe's second in the conference inefficiency here tonight, but you saw the favorite roughly by a touchdown from Iowa, Ohio.
09:03They're supposed to win tonight, and we are rooting for them.
09:05Be nice to see a team from the MAAC unbeaten heading into their conference tournament here.
09:09Would be a lot of fun to see that.
09:10Indiana versus Purdue tonight.
09:12An in-state battle in the Big Ten.
09:14This line opened up at 10.5 and still sits at 10.5 in the marketplace in a total of
09:19148.5.
09:20Indiana-Purdue, Joe.
09:22Last time I checked, last game for Indiana.
09:24Loss.
09:24Last game for Purdue.
09:25Loss.
09:26What happens tonight?
09:27Yeah.
09:28All right.
09:29Well, exactly.
09:30It's not been a great run here, but, you know, Purdue does a really good job of beating up on
09:36the, you know, the middle of the road teams, especially at Mackey Arena, right?
09:41And they lost a tough one there.
09:43It was a terrible spot for Purdue when they first played Indiana in Indiana.
09:48It's not going to be.
09:49It's a get-right spot here for the Boilermakers.
09:53This is exactly the kind of team in the spot where they'll bounce back, just like they did against Iowa
09:59a couple of games ago.
10:00I think same thing here, Donnie.
10:02Look for Purdue to get one back at Mackey Arena here tonight.
10:07Saturday night.
10:08Yes.
10:08Big-time college basketball.
10:10Saturdays are chock-full of great matchups here.
10:11Iowa State and BYU.
10:13Last time we saw BYU, they did lose their game against Arizona, but they did cover it, and they were
10:17scrappy.
10:17Game number two without Richie Saunders.
10:19Is that going to be a little bit different, Joe?
10:21Iowa State comes to town as a three-and-a-half-point favorite over BYU.
10:25Yeah.
10:27It's getting worse for BYU by the minute here, Donnie, right?
10:32I mean, they're really good at beating everyone else except the top five or six teams in a cut.
10:38That's where they run into problems.
10:40And now Richie Saunders gone.
10:42Great fight, by the way, again in the second half.
10:46But I don't see them having nearly enough left in the tank to be able to handle Iowa State.
10:51In fact, Donnie, I think the best bet from here on out is just fade BYU in the first half,
10:57Donnie.
10:57They only play well in the second half of games for some reason.
11:02This late in the season, Joe, we're going to get Duke versus Michigan.
11:05How sensational is that?
11:07Michigan is a two-and-a-half-point favorite over Duke, 148-and-a-half.
11:09This takes me back to my childhood in the 90s, the early 90s,
11:12when you had Christian Leightoner going up against the Fab Five and Bobby Hurley.
11:16Absolutely sensational.
11:17This game should have it all, Joe.
11:20What are we looking at for this one, Michigan and Duke?
11:22It will have it all, Donnie.
11:24And listen, Michigan is no joke.
11:28They have just, they are rightfully the number one team in the country.
11:33And listen, they got to prove it again here against Duke.
11:36And when they do, they are undoubtedly the number one seed heading into March Madness.
11:42Going to D.C.
11:43Capital One Arena here.
11:45Number one, Michigan.
11:46Number two, Duke.
11:47Well, at least that's explained there through Ken Palm here.
11:49Sensational stuff this weekend.
11:51A great weekend ahead.
11:52And you know what we do?
11:53We'll shut it down in style next for our final segment.
11:56We'll be right back after the break.
11:57Now it's a Friday.
11:58We want it to be payday.
11:59Yesterday, picks didn't work out too well.
12:01That's okay.
12:01Still up for the week.
12:02And time to close the door on a Friday with a couple winners.
12:05Here's Bye, Bye, Bye.
12:12Looks like I got CLV already in a wager I'm going to make.
12:15Joe, where are you headed for tonight?
12:17Oh, Donnie, if it ain't broke, we're not fixing it.
12:20We're heading back to Miami of Ohio here.
12:24And yeah, seven and a half, eight and a half.
12:26It does not matter here.
12:29And I will remind folks, too, back on December 30th, Donnie, when these two teams first played
12:33at Bowling Green, yeah, Miami of Ohio was a six and a half, seven point favorite when
12:39that game tipped and they lost by double digits.
12:42Got news for you.
12:44Yeah.
12:44Rolls are reversed here and they're still going to lose by double digits here tonight.
12:49They have not broken a sweat, Donnie, since those back-to-back double overtime wins there
12:55against Buffalo and Kent State.
12:57It's been smooth sailing.
12:59This team stays grounded.
13:01I mean, at this point, none of this has gotten to them.
13:04They handle their business.
13:05I think they're handling it again here tonight with another double-digit win at home.
13:09The next one.
