00:00So this is the light developer. Right off the bat, I like that it has its own base, so it's able to stand up on its own. So when it's off the bench, I don't have to find out how to make it stand up. It's just there already. I've had light developers that I have to put them up against the wall, shove them in a corner, and it just makes it difficult for them to stand up without tipping over.
00:17So this is a big plus where it has a tone base, has wheels at the front, so I can simply lift the back and then it's going to move forward, back and forth easily. This is actually surprisingly very light. However, it can support a lot of weight and it feels very sturdy. The padding itself, it uses the same round padding, five inch diameter as the ab attachment. It's very comfortable, very thick, and it uses that gripping vinyl that the bench has as well.
00:44Now this, the pads right here for the thighs, these are actually flat. These are supposed to distribute the weight better, evenly, and prevent any pinching. But on the leg side, you have the leg rollers here that are round, the shin rollers are also round, and these, by the way, are adjustable. You can adjust the length this way horizontally and this one vertically up and down, so people of different heights can use it, which is a big plus.
01:07Now one thing I did notice, though, is that the knob caps here, the knob caps for adjusting the length of this, these are hard plastic. I'd like it better if they were aluminum, just because aluminum is going to last longer. But these are very hard. I don't think they'll break, but aluminum will be a better option in my opinion.
01:25I'm looking down here. You have the weight horn. The weight horn is set for two-inch diameter for Olympic weight plates, but it is detachable. You can detach it at the front. There's a little bolt. You just unscrew it, take this off, and if you're somebody that uses standard weight plates with a one-inch diameter, then you have the option to use those with this leg developer.
01:45But it does have this cap here for the Olympic weight plates that are more common in the USA. Now, if I keep going down here, right down here, I already attached the cable attachment. This is something that's optional. It's not very expensive to add on, but it's something that's optional if you have a cable machine.
02:01It doesn't matter if you have a functional trainer, a cable tower, DIY pulley system, a digital cable machine. It doesn't matter. As long as you have a carabiner, you can attach a cable to the bottom here.
02:12This is the cable here. It's 64 inches in length, and the advantage of having a cable is that you're going to get constant resistance, because the way these work, because they're lever-based, when you get to the top of the exercise, when you lift this up,
02:26you're going to lose some of that weight at the top of the exercise. So, it's not a lot of the weight that you're going to lose, but with a cable machine, a cable attachment, you're getting constant tension.
02:38So, if you're somebody that has that option, where you have a cable machine, then you might want to make the jump, the leap, and just pick this up, because it's not very expensive to add on.
02:47Connecting the leg developer to the bench is very simple. You lift this up to 15 degrees of incline, then you lift up the leg developer, insert it into the port,
02:55make sure you pull the pop pin out, and then it'll pop in place. And then you want to make sure the knob is twisted, and that's pretty much all that's all there's to it,
03:05if you're just going to use this as a plate-loaded leg developer. Now, if you bought the optional cable attachment, then you want to use this bolt here
03:12to make sure that you secure the leg developer to the bench. So, I'm going to show you that right now.
03:17So, if you've got the cable attachment, you want to make sure you use this bolt here. You're going to find it in the package. It's going to be extra, and that is going to go through here.
03:25And connect to the leg developer over here to prevent it from moving if you go too heavy on cable exercises,
03:32because the cable is coming from this direction, so it's going to be pulling in a horizontal fashion.
03:37So, that is what this is for. So, you want to insert it through the frame here, and then you pull back a little bit
03:43until the leg developer touches the bolt, and that's all there's to it. It's connected.
03:49So, if you picked up the cable attachment, this is what you're going to get.
03:51You're going to get this piece right here that connects to the vertical post of the leg developer,
03:55and then this one over here, this pulley that connects to the base of the leg developer.
03:59Now, of course, you're going to get the cable that comes with it. So, I'm going to show you how to install it.
04:03So, you just slide that under the pulley, bring it up to the front, and then you have this pin here,
04:08and then you just insert the pin through the end of the cable right there, and that's pretty much that's all there's to it.
04:18Now, I'm going to run the cable to my cable machine.
04:21All right. So, I have the cable connected to my cable machine. It's running from the upright to the leg developer.
04:28One thing you want to make sure is that you push the bench back so that the cable is taut,
04:32and that will give you the most tension right from the first rep.
04:34And also, as an FYI, you want to make sure you have 10 feet of space at least because you're going to need room for the bench
04:42and then the extra cable length. So, make sure you have 10 feet of space at the very least.
04:47So, the first thing I do before I start working out is I make sure that the cable is taut.
04:51Now, this one here, even though it's straight, it feels loose.
04:54So, I'm going to push the bench back and cut the slack here, make it tight.
04:59There you go. That's better.
05:00And that way, I'm going to make sure that from the first rep, I'm going to have tension right from the beginning of the exercise.
05:06So, I'm going to show you the leg extensions first.
05:12Now, right when I sit down, this feels comfortable.
05:14The flat pads right on my hamstrings.
05:16And then from here, you can see that my shins are going back.
05:21That's very important.
05:21The shin angle is very important because there's leg developers out there that don't do a good job.
05:26And then you start with your shin in a vertical position and that takes off all the tension from the beginning of the rep.
05:33So, you want to make sure you have a leg developer like this one here.
05:36They did a good job where the shin angle is going backwards because that's already putting my claws into a stretch.
05:42If you notice, it's angled 15 degrees so I can recline a little bit.
05:46That's going to open up my hips.
05:48That's going to create more of a stretch right before I even start the first rep.
05:52And then from here, I can hang on to the handles and do my reps.
05:57Now, because I'm using the cable machine here, the cable attachment, I'm getting constant tension.
06:02Even at the top, there's tension.
06:05And with a plate loaded leg developer, you still get a lot of tension.
06:09But because this uses a lever, you're not going to have the same amount of weight, the exact amount of weight from the bottom to the top.
06:17And that's just physics.
06:18I mean, there's nothing really that you can do about it unless you start introducing a cam or a cable attachment to the leg developer.
06:25But for the cable attachments, this feels really good.
06:30I'm able to get full tension.
06:32There's no jerkiness at all.
06:34So, that means that the cable down here is traveling well on the pulley.
06:40So, I'll give it a thumbs up.
06:41Great job on the cable attachment.
06:43I'm going to show you a plate loaded leg curl.
06:45And I want you to notice this arm here.
06:46This was designed very well.
06:48When I go up on the leg curl, you're going to notice that the weight plates stay at an angle like this, not vertically.
06:53If they were to go vertically, I would lose a lot of tension.
06:56So, they stay like this so that gravity continues to pull the weight down.
07:00And that continues to create tension in my hamstrings.
07:03And again, this is adjustable.
07:04You can move this up and down.
07:06If you have long legs, feel free to do so.
07:08That has six different settings.
07:10Now, I'm going to get on here.
07:14And I have handles here that I can support myself with.
07:18And from here, I already feel a little bit of a pre-stretch on my hamstrings.
07:22And then, once I curl up, you're going to notice that the weight stays at an angle, which is exactly what you want.
07:29So, I feel pretty good tension throughout.
07:32Now, the pads here, the flat pads feel comfortable on my thighs.
07:40And I feel that I can hang on to the handles here and almost pull myself.
07:46Gives me more stability.
07:48So, overall, I feel this is a really good leg developer.
07:53I showed you the cable version.
07:55Gives you constant tension.
07:57If you have a cable machine, that might be something you want to look into.
08:00But if you don't, the plate loaded version still gives you full range of motion.
08:04You get a good pre-stretch at the beginning.
08:06And then, at the top, you have that continuous tension because of the angle of this arm.
08:11So, very good.
