TrakHandle Sport Review: BEST D Handle Cable Attachment I've Ever Used
Category
🥇
SportsTranscript
00:00Today I'm reviewing the Track Handle Sport D-Handle Cable Attachment. This is designed to move with
00:04your body so it moves in a 3D axis where I can rotate it, I can spin the handle, and
00:10I can move
00:11it sideways like this so it's moving just the way my body is moving to reduce joint tension.
00:16Is it perfect? No, but in this video I'm going to show you what I like about it, I'm going
00:20to compare
00:20it to other D-Handles that I have, and I'm going to tell you who this is for and who
00:25it's not for.
00:26So I'm going to give you a closer look at the handle so you can see the different parts.
00:29Now right on the top here there's an eye hook, the eye hook swivel, so it allows me to do
00:34this with
00:34the handle, and you can see that the bearings are really good, barely makes any noise, and it just
00:39spins and spins until I stop it. So the bearings are really good on there. Right below that you have
00:44this flat part, and inside the flat part there there's a couple of pulleys or rollers, I'm not
00:49sure if you can see them there, that allow this side-to-side motion. What I really like about this
00:54flat part here is that whenever I'm doing something like a cable crossover or a chest press, this is
00:58going to sit flat on my forearms. I've had other D-Handles that dig into the forearms here, so that's
01:04not comfortable. So with this, that eliminates that problem. Now the cable, you can see it's lined,
01:10it's a lined cable, moves side-to-side. The cable itself, or the handle itself, has a 150-pound weight
01:15capacity per handle. And if you look at the end of the handle here, you can see that that lifts
01:21up,
01:23moving with the cable, so there's no restrictions there. Now the actual handle itself, it's free to
01:28spin both directions, so it moves like a 3D axis. Anywhere you move, this is going to follow you,
01:34so that's the beauty about that. I like the rubber handle here. There's companies out there that sell
01:38a knurled handle. I don't think there's a need for that. I just like the way this moves, the way
01:43it
01:43feels overall. Only thing I've noticed, though, is that whenever I'm doing something, if I want to do
01:49something like a hammer grip type of exercise, whether that's a hammer grip bicep curl, or tricep
01:54pushdown, that's the only motion I've noticed, that this doesn't feel good. It feels jerky. And
01:59it's not made for that, but, you know, there's other handles out there that do that, so I wanted
02:03to point that out. So for example, if I'm doing something like a tricep pushdown, what's going to
02:07happen is, as I push down, this is going to start to swivel, so it creates a jerky motion, and
02:13it's a
02:14motion that you don't see with all the other movements. The other movements are super smooth.
02:17So here's what it looks like. I'll show you right now. So if I push down, you can see that
02:21it starts
02:22swiveling. It starts being jerky. That's the only motion I've noticed with this handle that doesn't
02:29feel good. Everything else feels great. This is the smoothest handle I've ever used. Now I'm going to
02:34show you how the track handle sport reduces joint tension so that you can prevent injuries in the
02:39future, and it does so with that 3D axis motion that it has. I'm going to show you the bicep
02:45curl here.
02:45So for the bicep curl, I'm going to start at the bottom here, and then I turn up, and as
02:48I twist
02:49up, you'll notice that this side over here, the cable, is going to be shorter than the side over
02:54here, and the reason for that is because the handle itself is shifting. Instead of my wrist shifting,
03:00the handle is shifting to take on the load of the cable machine. So in a regular D handle,
03:05both sides here are going to be fixed, so my wrist is going to have to take on that load,
03:11it being offset to one side. It's very subtle, but over the long term, after years of training,
03:17you're going to start to feel tweaks on your wrists, on your elbows. So by doing this, by the
03:22handle taking on the load, it just reduces tension from my joints. So over the long run, it just feels
03:29better for me, and it just makes it very smooth. When I go up and down here, the handle is
03:34just
03:34rotating. This rotates, the handle here rotates, this is rotating in a motion where it's angled
03:41following the path of the cable. So that's how this is easier on your joints. So now I'm going
03:46to compare the track handle sport to a couple of D handles that I have laying around here. This
03:50first one is from Beyond Power from the Voltra, basic D handle cable attachment. So this one here
03:55has a rubber grip, it rotates, so I'm able to get that component. As far as rotation goes, it does
04:01rotate, but it's not going to be as smooth because it's not on a swivel. And then as far as
04:05the side
04:05to side motion, this one does allow for side to side motion because the handle itself is hollow,
04:11but it's not going to be anywhere as smooth. You have to kind of force it into that motion. So
04:15as
04:15far as movements go, this one gets the job done. You can still do a lot of cable exercises, but
04:20it's
04:21not going to be as smooth as the track handle sport. So next up, I'm going to show you one
04:25that's a
04:25little bit more advanced that you can do more stuff with, and this one is the U-Clip smile handle.
04:30So this one
04:30I can use as a D handle, but I can also use as a hammer grip handle, which is something
04:37that the
04:37track handle sport can't do. So I'm going to put it back over here in the D handle mode. And
04:41for this
04:42one, it has a knurled handle, so it comes with it. I'm able to freely rotate the handle. As far
04:47as
04:47side to side movement, it doesn't have any of that movement. And as far as rotation goes, of course,
04:53you're not going to have that 360 degree swivel. It still rotates, but it gets to a point where it
04:57becomes a little bit, uh, not as smooth as fluid to rotate. So good thing about this one though,
05:04you do get this where you're able to do single hand exercises like bicep curls, hammer grip,
05:09bicep curls, triceps extensions, something you can't do with the track handle sport. If you wanted
05:14to replicate something like this with a track fitness product, they do have the track handle
05:18pro X, which is able to do this with the track handle pro X. You start just like a regular
05:23D handle,
05:24and then it swivels into that position. And there's no jerkiness to that one. You do get
05:29jerkiness with the track handle sport, but not with the track handle pro X. So as far as D handle
05:34attachments go, these still get the job done. You can still get a great cable machine workout.
05:39You're not just, you're just not going to be able to do it as smoothly as you can with the
05:44track
05:44handle sport. So now I'll give you my pros and cons. I'll start with the cons. The only con I
05:48have
05:48about the track handle sport is that I cannot use it for any hammer grip style exercise. And that's
05:55just because of the way that it's designed. It's designed to swivel. So it's just going to be jerky
05:59whenever I try to do that motion. But other than that, everything for me is a pro. Yes, it's a
06:04high
06:04end product, so it's going to be expensive, but you're getting what you're paying for. This thing is
06:09beautiful as far as the swivel. Look how smooth that swivels. I love the swivel on top. I love the
06:14flat
06:14part over here so that when I'm doing chest press or cable crossovers, this is not digging into my
06:19forearm. This motion right here is unique to the track handle sport and it feels really good on my
06:24wrists. And also the handle here, it just rotates 360 degrees. So everything about it, when it's
06:30working in combination, all those different planes of motion, it moves very smoothly and it's joint
06:35friendly. So lots of like about the track handle sport, just one con. And for that con, I'm going to
06:42have to buy the track handle pro X, which allows me to do that hammer grip motion. But as far
06:47as the
06:47track handle sport goes, really good. But now that I gave you all that information, what's the price
06:52for the track handle sport? This is going to cost you 120 bucks for the pair of handles. And that's
06:57because this is a premium handle. It's on the high end. You're not going to get another handle that does
07:01what this does, where it's moving on a 3D axis. It's going to protect your joints and it's just going
07:06to make your cable workout experience just much, much better. Once you start using this, you don't
07:12want to go back to other D handles. Now, who is this for? This is definitely not for the casual
07:16home gym lifter who works out maybe once, twice a week, and just does a little bit here and there
07:22of cable movements, cable exercises. This is more for the serious home gym owner who likes high-end
07:27products, who's going to be using a cable machine very often. And also for people that have joint pain,
07:34whether that's wrist pain, elbow pain, this is going to help you to just feel less tension,
07:38less stress on your joints. With that being said, would I go back to a D handle after using
07:43this for a while? No, I wouldn't. This is definitely top of the line. This is the best D handle
07:49out
07:50there in my opinion. So that's my review on the track handle sport D handle cable attachment. If
