When will the next Arctic blast take hold?

AccuWeather Meteorologist Bernie Rayno takes you through the next wave of Arctic air set to move in toward the East Coast later this week.

00:00Another Arctic air mass is on the way, but it won't be arriving until Friday.

00:06Where is it now? Across the northwest territories of Canada.

00:09It'll start coming southward as we get in the Thursday.

00:13Now, the coldest air does get into the northern lakes, the upper Midwest, as we get in the Thursday night and Friday.

00:21But the direct discharge of this Arctic air will be coming where?

00:25Into the northeast and parts of the mid-Atlantic as we get in the Friday, Friday night, and then by Saturday and Sunday,

00:33that Arctic air will be parked across the northeastern United States.

00:37Now, with these Arctic boundaries, you always have snow showers and even some snow squalls.

00:43That's going to be a big concern because those snow squalls are going to have heavy bursts of snow

00:48that can quickly reduce visibility and make roads snow-covered and treacherous.

00:53The timing? In the afternoon, Detroit-Indianapolis toward Buffalo, not until Friday evening along the I-95 corridor.

01:02And once again, we're looking at temperatures averaging well below historical averages.

01:07Strong, gusty winds will result in accu-weather, real field temperatures below zero most areas on Saturday.

01:15And temperatures, Saturday night and Sunday night, in some areas, will be below zero.
