AccuWeather's Geoff Cornish looks ahead to an Arctic blast in the South to start next week.
Transcript
00:00Behind this weekend's snow event in the Carolinas, a new blast of arctic chill plows all the way south deep into south Florida.
00:08It'll be the coldest time in Florida since 2010, and before that, you've got to go back to 1989 in many areas.
00:15There may even be an opportunity for some rare gulf-effect snowflakes.
00:19Some flurries will be possible this weekend from around Tampa and St. Pete north into areas up near Cedar Key.
00:26Pretty amazing.
00:27Extreme cold is going to push all the way south down into south Florida, while Miami won't quite fall to freezing.
00:33You're going to have accurate real field temperatures in the 20s in Miami, in the teens in Tampa, and down in the single digits up in north Florida.
00:41Two really cold nights, Saturday night to Sunday morning, and then Sunday night to Monday morning, both very cold in Florida.
00:48There is something that is going to be a little bit more positive about this in the form of an outdoor NHL hockey game being played outside at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday evening.
00:59We're going to be falling through the 40s at that time for the puck drop.
01:02After sunset, it's going to get pretty nippy out there.
01:05There will be a lot of record lows broken and a lot of crop damage.
01:08There's this citrus crop, especially prone to freezes at or below 27 or 28 degrees.
01:14We're going to plunge below that threshold in many areas, and there's a significant risk of frozen pipes.
